Big Draft Weekend On Tap
Without even realizing, apparently I have a Kenyan Drake obsession
Big. Huge. THE fantasy football draft weekend of the year is this weekend. I mean, personally I will be drafting right up to the first Thursday game - now less than 2 weeks away - but I know many of you are drafting tonight, tomorrow and Sunday. Are You Ready?
We have Draft Buddy ready to go for you. If you already purchased, then Thursday we updated FF Today projections, rankings, ADP and depth charts, so go to your action tab and click Update Projections for the latest and greatest.
If you do not have Draft Buddy yet, then lets get to it! Better to get it set up for your draft(s) early, and if you have questions then let me know so I can help. This year we introduced a returning member discount, so take advantage!
Not a lot to update from the 5-0 Browns-Eagles preseason "tilt", but if anything major happens in the remaining preseason games, then we will run another update.
Draft Boards Review
As a bonus for being on our football members newsletter, here are some draft boards from ongoing drafts I am taking part in, for your review.
FFPC Bestball, 5th pick
Really liking Kenyan Drake's opportunity at his draft cost slipping into the middle third round to fourth round. Ajayi too but to a lesser degree. Jack Doyle should be trending up in line with Andrew Luck's ADP. For best ball, pairing Doyle-Eric Ebron or Cameron Brate-O.J. Howard should work really well. Note, FFPC is 1.5 PPR for TE. I've drafted Anthony Miller a fair bit this year, as an upside bench player, and Marqise Lee appears undervalued.
ScoutFantasy Online Championship #1, 10th pick
Love the start OBJ + Melvin Gordon, but went a bit meh after that. Love Drake (again), but should have taken WR over Ajayi here, although this league does have more starting spots including 2 RB/WR/TE Flex (can start 4 RB).
You might be dissing the Carlos Hyde pick but Todd Haley will get that thing figured out, and short of injury I don't expect Nick Chubb to negatively impact Hyde. Looks like he needs a year on the bench to learn. Thanks to some buyer's remorse, felt like a good team to take a shot on Jordan Reed's upside as TE11 off the board.
ScoutFantasy Online Championship #2, 12th pick
Hoped for a top six pick but instead at the end. No matter, happier with how this is shaping up than the prior draft. Much more balance RB to WR by splitting the picks each turn. Yes, Kenyan Drake - again! I respect Frank Gore but if you read his quotes he has mad props for Drake. Love to see that from a veteran player of Gore's stature. Drake has a great mentor and Gore won't cut heavily into his snaps.
I am not all-in on Sammy Watkins this season but missed Michael Crabtree by a pick there, and Watkins worth the upside risk as a WR3. Hopefully Patrick Mahomes can hit the ground running. When Watkins gets the least opposing defense attention, watch out. Jordan Howard getting a little more love in fantasy circles lately but Tarik Cohen has to be a much better fit in the new look Bears offense.
Thanks everyone who already purchased Draft Buddy! If you have any questions then email me or ask on Facebook or Twitter. Good luck in your drafts!
