Opa! Straight Cheese is on fire lately! Last weekend before the MLB All-Star Break, get Chris’ Week 15 streaming starting pitchers, including Washington Nationals Jeremy Hellickson.
Fantasy baseball owners, this is the place where you come to get the straight cheese on less than desirable, questionably talented, less than 50% owned starting pitchers you can use for a spot start. Streaming starting pitchers is necessary to get those all-important counting stats for your roto league without drop-kicking your ratio stats into submission.
Before we dive into the dumpster looking for week 15 streaming starting pitchers, let’s take a look back at my picks from last week.

Well, that turned out pretty well, didn’t it? The Orioles were ripe for the picking and the harvest was bountiful. The only blemish was Lynn only getting 3 strikeouts on Friday. C’mon, man.
Week 15 Streaming Starting Pitchers
The pitchers are listed in order of appearance as of Wednesday morning. Ownership info from Yahoo! (Y) and ESPN (E) and all 2018 stats are through Tuesday, July 10th.
RHP Anibal Sanchez, ATL
Owned Y29%/E21% · vs. Arizona Diamondbacks – Friday, July 13th
After three awful seasons with the Detroit Tigers (20-30 record with a 5.67 era and 1.43 whip over 415 2/3 innings), Sanchez has found new life down south in Atlanta. In 59 2/3 innings he has a 2.72 era, 1.04 whip and 56 strikeouts (23.3 k%). If you look a little deeper you can see that he will probably regress at some point, but not all the way down to those hideous Detroit seasons. His 3.88 xFIP is respectable.
Sanchez gets to face the up and down Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday. They come into Atlanta posting a 0.297 wOBA (22nd in mlb), 0.165 iso (12th) and striking out 24.4% of the time (21st) vs. RHP on the road. The iso is troubling, but the wOBA and K% keep me optimistic that Sanchez will keep the Arizona lineup in check.
LHP Danny Duffy, KC
Owned Y47%/E27% · @ Chicago White Sox – Saturday, July 14th
My endorsement of Duffy this Saturday is more about the Chicago White Sox struggling vs. LHP at home. Through Tuesday they were putting up 0.266 wOBA (29th in MLB), 0.100 iso (28th) and striking out 28.8% of the time (worst in MLB) vs. LHP in Comiskey Park (yeah, I still call it by its original name). Why are they so bad in this situation? Don’t know and don’t care.
Enter Duffy and his cringe inducing 4.89 era, 1.49 whip and 95 strikeouts in 106 2/3 innings (20.0 k%). Ugh. Wait a second, what’s this? In road games he’s putting up a 3.89 era, 1.41 whip and 64 strikeouts in 69 1/3 innings (21.2 k%). That’s something we can work with.
RHP Jeremy Hellickson, WAS
Owned Y24%/E16% · @ New York Mets – Sunday, July 15th
In 57 innings with the Washington Nationals Hellickson is putting up a 3.47 era, 1.09 whip and has struck out 43 batters (18.8%). What’s even better is that on the road his era sits at 2.70 while his whip is 1.01 with 31 strikeouts in 36 2/3 innings (21.4 k%). Rather than try and figure out why this is just accept it and take advantage of it.
What we need now is a team that struggles vs. RHP at home. Hello, New York Mets! Through Tuesday they struggled vs. RHP at home to the tune of a 0.283 wOBA (worst in MLB), 0.144 iso (23rd) and striking out 22.7% of the time (22nd).
