Sweeten Your Fantasy Football Trades With A Pizza

September 4, 2014 By Draft Buddy Leave a Comment

QB Tony Romo + Pizza Hut pizza = RB Frank Gore

You might not trade San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore for Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo straight up, but would you do it for Romo and a pizza? Pizza Hut has made it possible.

Continuing the same theme from yesterday which prompted the post about facial hair linked to fantasy football success, I am now two-for-two this week on unsolicited emails that piqued my interest. Truth be told, I love to see some out of the box thinking, and this latest one certainly hits the mark.

PR Director Doug from Pizza Hut emailed me about a new promotion that should be of keen interest to fantasy football players. Basically, if you have a trade offer you are ready to float to another owner in your league, and you don’t think it is quite enough to intrigue the other owner to accept, ask Pizza Hut if they will help tip the scales in your favor by adding a pizza or other menu items in the deal.

They just might do it. From their press release, “[Pizza Hut] has established a way to help fantasy owners complete their trades this football season.” Simply email your trade offer and explain why you need a pizza to close the deal to tradebait@pizzahut.com. They will review your submission, and if your trade proposal is selected, then Pizza Hut will supply online promo codes to add to your offer.

This idea is very cool. Think about the possibility of adding chicken wings in an offer involving Demaryius Thomas! Make sure to check this doesn’t violate any alternate compensation trade rules for your league (or keep it hush, hush). Unfortunately for me this is only eligible for Americans, but I know many of you can try to take advantage, so get to it and let us know if you have success! The full press release is copied below.

PIZZA HUT® OFFERS FANTASY FOOTBALL OWNERS NATIONWIDE THE OPPORTUNITY TO WIN THE ULTIMATE TRADE BAIT: FREE PIZZA

For trade offers that need more “bite,” fantasy owners can email tradebait@pizzahut.com for a chance to win free pizza

PLANO, TEXAS – Football has arrived! And with it comes preparation in many forms, from real world football teams making final roster moves to fantasy football owners building cheat sheets and settling into online draft rooms to select their players for the 2014 season.

But regardless of the amount of preparation, it never fails that every team will hit a crossroads with a player at some point during the season, and in the fantasy world, that often comes in the form of a trade. Unfortunately, as all fantasy owners are aware, not all trade offers are created equal. League leading receiver for an oft-injured third down running back? No way. But what if that trade offer added something so irresistible – so real – that it demanded a second look?

That’s where Pizza Hut comes in. The world’s largest pizza chain has established a way to help fantasy owners complete their trades this football season. All fantasy owners have to do is submit their trade offer and briefly explain why they need pizza to help close the deal to tradebait@pizzahut.com, and then follow the steps provided by email from Pizza Hut to enter. Each week, Pizza Hut will review submitted trade offers and select winners. Winners will be awarded online promo codes to be dangled as trade bait to their pending offers.

“We’re inviting fantasy owners from any league in America to email us their trade offer for the opportunity to add the power of pizza to their deal,” said Doug Terfehr, PR Director, Pizza Hut. “To be clear though, this isn’t an automated program that doles out food to everyone who participates. We will review each and every submission and rule on a case-by-case basis.”

Gift cards may be redeemed for all Pizza Hut menu items, including pizzas, side items, WingStreet wings, Tuscani Pastas and new products.

“We want people to be creative in their submissions,” added Terfehr. “If there’s something specific on our menu that an owner think will close the deal, we want to know. Maybe someone’s old college roommate and owner of that prized QB is a lover of Pizza Hut breadsticks. We want to know and we’ll factor that in as part of the trade offer.”
