Fantasy Football Draft Buddy Ready for 2018 Season

June 11, 2018 By Mike Leave a Comment

Todd Gurley, Los Angeles Rams

Is Los Angeles Rams Todd Gurley the number one running back in fantasy football? This and many more questions to be answered between now and September as we kickoff another fantasy football season!

What started as a “simple” Excel spreadsheet to help me generate custom cheatsheet rankings for my own (multiple) fantasy football leagues, is now in its 18th year available to the public to similarly help you get an edge to win your fantasy football leagues. Of course I am talking about Fantasy Football Draft Buddy.

Fantasy Football Draft Buddy 2018

Overview

Draft Buddy creates position and overall ranking cheatsheets for your fantasy football league, based on your scoring, number of teams in the league, starting positions and other factors. It works for draft pick style and auction style drafts. It handles keepers, two-QB and flex leagues, team defense or individual defensive players.

Draft Buddy includes detailed player projections from FF Today, prior year stats from the last three NFL seasons, and even has space to add other projections, whether from another fantasy football website or projections of your own. You can weight these various projections and stats any which way to factor into your cheatsheets. Oh, it also has Average Draft Position data from various sources and updated depth charts.

Draft Buddy tracks your draft! This helps you stay organized on draft day, as you input each pick then it marks the drafted players off your cheatsheets. Draft Buddy can track a pick style draft or auction. It even integrates with MyFantasyLeague.com, so if you are in an online draft on MFL then you don’t even need to input each pick, but instead click a button to update the entire draft to the current pick.

Rules and Scoring Setup Video

I did a quick video with the 2018 Draft Buddy so you can take a look, and see how quick it is to set up your rules and scoring, and generate your initial custom cheatsheets.

There are many old fantasy football demo videos, and I will try to continue to add new videos. You can also find them direct at my YouTube channel.

Projection Updates

We have regular updates scheduled for the player projections, ADP and depth charts, and these run from now through the start of the NFL season, so you might as well purchase early, plug in your league settings and then update until your draft.

The current update schedule is 6/6 (initial release), 6/18, 6/28, 7/5, 7/12, 7/19, 7/26, 8/2, 8/9, 8/16, 8/23, 8/30 and 9/3. Whew! Essentially weekly on Thursdays starting later this month, just prior to the weekend when most drafts occur.

We also add unscheduled updates as necessary for major injuries or other breaking NFL news with a fantasy impact. Last year we did four of those, including Ezekiel Elliott’s suspension, Sammy Watkins trade to the Los Angeles Rams and Spencer Ware’s injury.

$2,500 Survivor Contest

As a bonus for Draft Buddy members everyone gets a free entry in our $2,500 NFL Survivor contest hosted at FF Today. Pick one team to win Week 1 of the NFL season and if they win, then you advance to pick a team to win Week 2. You cannot pick the same team twice, and if your team loses then you are out. The last man standing, wins! Take advantage – not everyone does – and you could win $2,500 for your efforts.

Early Bird Special

Buy early and save – 25% in fact! The regular price for Draft Buddy is $19.95 but purchase any time before August 1st and the price is only $14.95. To purchase login an existing member account or register a new member account and on the signup page, check to receive “Fantasy Football Draft Buddy”.

After purchase your account should have access to download Draft Buddy.

Tech Support

I am here to help. If you have any questions or issues having to do with anything from your member account and purchase, setting up and using Draft Buddy, or even fantasy football questions if you are looking for a second opinion (I will try to get to as many of these as possible), email me, or hit me up on Facebook or Twitter.

Thanks! Now lets get fired up for another awesome season of NFL football and fantasy football!

  • Steelers Sign Ben Roethlisberger To New Contract Show More

The Pittsburgh Steelers officially signed quarterback Ben Roethlisberger to a new contract for the 2021 season on Thursday. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Roethlisberger willingly reduced his pay to $14 million from $19 million in the final year of his deal, spreading his cash payment through 2022, according to a source. The move lowered Pittsburgh's salary cap hit by over $15 million, allowing them to make other moves to remain as competitive as possible. Big Ben was initially set for an exorbitant cap hit of $41.25 million. The 39-year-old will have one more shot at a championship and will likely retire after the 2021 season. Pittsburgh's offense could lose wideout JuJu Smith-Schuster this offseason and Roethlisberger is pretty injury prone, so he'll mostly be targeted as a fantasy backup as he heads into what will likely be his final NFL season.

  • Trevor Lawrence's Rehab Going Well Show More

Former Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who is projected as the No. 1 overall pick in this year's NFL draft, said his rehab from left non-throwing shoulder surgery last month is going better than expected. He underwent surgery on Feb. 16 to fix damage to the labrum of his left shoulder. Lawrence remains in California, rehabbing his shoulder at MOTUS Specialists Physical Therapy in Orange County. The focus of his rehab right now is working within pain-free ranges of motion and strengthening the scapular (shoulder blade) muscles along with the core. Lawrence is expected to remain in a brace for around two more weeks, and he could begin throwing in six to eight weeks if the rehab goes as planned. Expected to land with Jacksonville at No. 1 overall, Lawrence could be fantasy relevant in single-year leagues right away as a QB2 with upside.

  • Saints Cut Jared Cook, Josh Hill Show More

New Orleans Saints executive vice president/general manager Mickey Loomis announced on Wednesday that the team has terminated the contracts of tight ends Jared Cook and Josh Hill. Cook is a 12-year veteran who was originally selected in the third round of the 2009 draft out of South Carolina. Since joining the Saints in 2019, he has recorded 80 catches for 1,209 yards (15.1 average) and 16 touchdowns, which is tied for the second-most TDs at the position during that span. The 33-year-old was due an $8.04 million roster bonus on the second day of the new league year. He was a Pro Bowler in 2019, when he had 43 catches for 705 yards and nine touchdowns. With both Cook and Hill now out of the picture in New Orleans, Adam Trautman could be a name to watch as a sleeper at the position in 2021.

  • J.J. Watt Signing Two-Year Deal With Cardinals Show More

Free-agent defensive end J.J. Watt announced on Twitter on Monday that he has chosen the Arizona Cardinals as his next team. The Cardinals are giving the star pass-rusher a two-year deal worth $31 million, according to an informed source. The deal includes $23 million guaranteed. The 31-year-old is a five-time Pro Bowler and five-time first-team All-Pro, but he's been hurt by injuries in three of the last five seasons. Watt managed to play in 16 games in his final season in Houston in 2020, recording 52 tackles (14 for loss), 17 QB hits, one interception for a touchdown, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and five sacks. Paired up with Chandler Jones on Arizona's defensive line, the Cardinals Defense will be much more feared with the addition of Watt.

  • Patrick Mahomes Should Be Ready For Training Camp Show More

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes (toe) underwent surgery to fix his turf-toe injury on Feb. 10. With a three-month recovery period expected, the Chiefs think that Mahomes will be ready for training camp this summer, and he could be good to go by mandatory minicamp, according to general manager Brett Veach. The 25-year-old was slowed a bit by the toe injury in the postseason, but it's not expected to affect him moving forward after surgery. Mahomes is an elite player at his position and is a perennial Pro Bowler and MVP candidate after making back-to-back trips to the Super Bowl. He had 4,740 passing yards, 38 touchdowns and eight interceptions in 2020 while also adding 62 carries for 308 yards and two TDs on the ground. Mahomes will once again be in consideration as the first fantasy signal-caller off the board in 2021.
