Setting Up Draft Buddy For Scott Fish Bowl #SFB16

Today was Scott Fish Bowl draft day! My league and many slow drafts kicked off SFB16 this morning. Scott Fish Bowl is a very popular annual fantasy football event that raises money for charity and is considered the unofficial kickoff of fantasy draft season.

This morning I did a live stream video on YouTube showing how to setup Draft Buddy for this unique format league. Although the league is rather unique, the video is helpful to all potential Draft Buddy users. You will get an overview of how Draft Buddy works, and see how easy it is to setup in a few steps.

Scott Fish Bowl Format and Scoring

The league is pretty unique. There are 10 starters and an owner can start up to 2 QB but is not required to start any position. Want to start 10 TE? Sure, go for it.

The scoring is outside the ordinary too. Lots of scoring! The SFB16 theme is video games and the scoring fits. It includes milestone bonuses and big play bonuses. Here are the details:

Draft Buddy handles a lot of scoring options but maybe not all of these. It isn’t like we project the number of 40 yard plays a player will hit in a season. However, based on some good information I adjust the scoring in Draft Buddy to line up with projected fantasy points for SFB16.

Falcons Name Tua Tagovailoa Week 1 Starter

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Atlanta Falcons have named quarterback Tua Tagovailoa their starter for their Week 1 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The former Miami Dolphins quarterback joined the Falcons in the offseason and was competing alongside Michael Penix Jr. for the starting job. However, with Penix still recovering from a torn ACL, Tagovailoa had the edge for much of the competition. Despite this, fantasy managers should keep a close eye on his production, as Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported last week that the Falcons may not give Tagovailoa a long leash if he were to struggle early in the season. In 2025, Tagovailoa appeared in 14 games for the Dolphins and posted a modest 20:15 TD:INT while averaging 190 passing yards per game. Given his inconsistencies last season, Tagovailoa should be viewed as a low-end QB3 in Superflex formats in Week 1.

Christian McCaffrey Doesn't Practice on Monday

San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey (undisclosed) did not participate in the portion of Monday's practice that was open to the media, according to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports. For clarification purposes, it's worth noting that this practice occurred on Monday in Australia, where the 49ers currently are, but it technically lined up with the waning hours of Sunday evening on the United States west coast. McCaffrey had been dealing with an undisclosed injury throughout camp, but it wasn't always serious enough to keep him out of practice. Therefore, there's at least a little bit of concern that he didn't participate in practice on Monday. The good news is that the 49ers still have three more days of practice ahead of them, so he could upgrade to a limited or even full participant by the time the first official injury reports come out on Tuesday in Australia (or Monday night in the United States).

George Kittle Practices Ahead of Week 1

San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle (Achilles) participated in practice on Monday, according to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports. For clarification purposes, the 49ers are overseas preparing for Week 1, so this practice occurred on Monday in Australia but lined up with the waning hours of Sunday in the United States. Time zone logistics aside, fantasy managers should be encouraged that Kittle was able to practice on Monday. There's still a chance that he has some sort of snap count for Week 1, but at this point, it looks like he'll at least be active for the season opener. This falls in line with a previous report from ESPN.com's Adam Schefter that said Kittle should be able to play. The 32-year-old is a top-three fantasy tight end when healthy, and he'll be tasked with occupying a major receiving role once again this year. Managers looking for additional updates on Kittle's status should check back in approximately 24 hours when the 49ers release their first official injury report of the regular season.

Puka Nacua Expected to Play Week 1 in Australia

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua is expected to play in the season opener in Australia, head coach Sean McVay said, according to Nate Atkins. Nacua has been facing the possibility of discipline under the NFL's Personal Conduct Policy, but no suspension has been announced. McVay also expects offensive tackle Alaric Jackson, who has been dealing with his own potential discipline, to play. Nacua caught 129 passes for 1,715 yards and 10 touchdowns across 16 games last season, leading the NFL in receptions. The Rams open against San Francisco in Melbourne on Sept. 10. McVay's comments are a strong sign that Nacua will be available for Week 1, though there has been no public indication that the NFL's review of his situation is finished.

TreVeyon Henderson Still Sidelined With Week 1 Nearing

New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson (ankle) was not present for the media-access portion of Sunday's practice, according to Mike Reiss of ESPN. Henderson has not practiced since injuring his ankle on Aug. 24, and New England opens the season Wednesday night in Seattle. If he cannot play, Rhamondre Stevenson and Corey Kiner are the other running backs on the active roster. Reiss noted that Lan Larison and/or Hassan Haskins could be elevated from the practice squad to provide additional depth. Henderson ran for 911 yards and nine touchdowns on 180 carries as a rookie, adding 35 catches for 221 yards and another score. There was optimism late last month that the injury would not keep him out of Week 1, but his continued absence with only a few days left before the opener has made his status much harder to take for granted.
