  • Andy Dalton Not A Viable Option In Week 11

Despite whispers of a potential quarterback change, New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen stated that quarterback Andy Dalton will remain under center this week against the Los Angeles Rams. Dalton has been starting for the 3-7 Saints since Week 4 and has gone 141-for-217 for 1,559 yards with 11 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Dalton has struggled of late to string together fantasy-relevant performances and is best left on the waiver wire this week in single-QB leagues.

  • Saints Sticking With Andy Dalton At QB

New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen said that the team will stick with Andy Dalton as the starting quarterback in Week 11 against the Los Angeles Rams. Allen said the team evaluated the position this week and discussed it with both Dalton and Jameis Winston. Dalton has been the starter since Week 4 with Winston dealing with ankle and back injuries, so it's possible the decision was made this week because Winston isn't healthy enough to return. The Saints are 2-5 with Dalton under center, and he looked bad in the Week 10 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, throwing for 174 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. The 35-year-old Red Rifle can't be trusted as anything more than a low-end QB2 in superflex leagues this Sunday against the Rams.

  • Latest On Saints' QB Situation

The Saints had recently entertained the notion of making a quarterback change for the second time this season, but that move will be delayed for at least one more week. Head coach Dennis Allen confirmed on Wednesday that Andy Dalton will remain the team’s starter in Week 11. The veteran has been in place as New Orleans’ No. 1 […]

  • Jameis Winston To Take Over For Andy Dalton?

New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen said he has not made a decision at quarterback yet for Week 11 against the Los Angeles Rams, but it sounds as though Jameis Winston (ankle, back) is a possibility to take over for the struggling Andy Dalton. Allen said he'll sit down and visit with Winston and talk with the medical staff, but the Saints have to do what gives the team the best chance to win. Dalton has started for the team since Week 4 and has just two wins while completing 65 percent of his 217 pass attempts for 1,559 yards, 11 touchdowns and seven interceptions. The Red Rifle went just 17-for-27 for 174 yards, one TD and two picks in the Week 10 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Dalton has been under 200 yards passing in three of his seven starts. Winston may not be a huge upgrade under center for New Orleans, but it sounds like they might be ready to make a chance if Winston is healthy.

  • Andy Dalton Struggles In Week 10

New Orleans Saints quarterback Andy Dalton threw for 174 yards and a touchdown off 17-for-27 passing during the loss to Pittsburgh on Sunday. The signal-caller also had two interceptions, bringing his total to six in the last four games. With New Orleans now sitting on a 3-7 record, head coach Dennis Allen acknowledged the need for improvement in several areas. However, Allen declined to comment when asked if that meant benching Dalton in favor of Jameis Winston. Nonetheless, if Dalton remains under center in Week 11 against the struggling Rams, he'll stay classified as a risky fantasy option. Yet, if he doesn't, managers can drop him without thinking twice about it.

  • Trevor Penning Designated To Return From Injured Reserve

New Orleans Saints rookie first-round left tackle Trevor Penning (toe) was designated to return from Injured Reserve on Thursday, opening his 21-day window for the team to officially activate him from IR. The 23-year-old rookie was put on IR in early September after having surgery on his toe, but he's nearing his NFL debut for the Saints. It remains to be seen if New Orleans will ease the young tackle into the fold, but Penning was expected to immediately step in with a significant role on the offensive line before he suffered a toe injury. Regardless, the Saints offense and quarterback Andy Dalton will be in better hands once they have Penning playing. He'll have a chance to debut in Week 10 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

  • Andy Dalton A QB2 For Week 10

New Orleans Saints quarterback Andy Dalton continues to hold the starting gig over Jameis Winston. On Monday, Dalton completed 19-of-29 passing attempts for 210 yards with one touchdown and one interception in the loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Possibly, head coach Dennis Allen decides to hand over the starting gig to Winston. However, Dalton really hasn't played too bad under center for New Orleans. He has been able to consistently get the ball to Alvin Kamara and Chris Olave. Fantasy managers should consider Dalton a QB2 for the upcoming matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers this week.

  • Andy Dalton Harassed By Ravens D

New Orleans Saints quarterback Andy Dalton went 19-of-29 passing for 210 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in their 27-13 loss to the Ravens on Monday night. The 35-year-old faced a lot of pressure from the Baltimore defense, resulting in four sacks. It also prohibited him from making deeper throws and sustaining drives. The team did most of its damage late in the game after the Ravens had established a commanding lead. The turnovers continue to be a problem for the former Bengal, with four in his last three games. Jameis Winston continues to wait in the wings, but Dalton remains the starter and will face the Steelers in Week 10.

  • Andy Dalton A QB2 Vs. Ravens In Week 9

New Orleans Saints quarterback Andy Dalton has mostly played well for his team since taking over for Jameis Winston back in Week 4. Over his five games, Dalton has thrown nine touchdowns to four interceptions while passing for 1,175 yards. He will stay at home in New Orleans to take on a struggling Baltimore Ravens secondary in Week 9's Monday night game. The Ravens are allowing the eighth-most fantasy points per game to the quarterback position in 2022, setting up a plus home matchup for the veteran signal-caller. Dalton is not a must-start in fantasy but he's definitely viable as a mid-range QB2 in fantasy heading into Week 9's contest.

  • Andy Dalton Leads Saints To The Win Over Vegas

New Orleans Saints quarterback Andy Dalton helped snap his team's two-game losing streak on Sunday in the win over the Raiders. The veteran played well, throwing for 229 yards and two touchdowns while completing just over 73% of his attempts. Despite being without Jarvis Landry (ankle) and Michael Thomas (foot), Dalton produced for the fantasy managers forced to rely on his services. If Winston isn't back for the Week 9 Monday Night Football meeting with the Ravens, Dalton will start and could prove handy for those in two-quarterback setups.

  • Andy Dalton To Make Fifth Straight Start In Week 8

New Orleans Saints quarterback Andy Dalton will make his fifth straight start in the Week 8 game against the Las Vegas Raiders, according to head coach Dennis Allen. Jameis Winston (ankle, back) hasn't played since Week 3 and entered the week still not 100 percent healthy, so the Saints won't rush him back. Dalton hasn't really done a whole lot to hold off Winston, and he threw two pick-sixes in last Thursday's blowout loss to the Arizona Cardinals. In his four starts, the Red Rifle has gone 83-for-131 (63.4 completion percentage) for 946 yards, seven touchdowns and four interceptions while taking four sacks. Dalton might be the best option for the Saints offense right now, but he's nothing more than a low-end QB2 in superflex leagues in his fifth start this weekend.

  • Saints Undecided On Starting QB For Week 8

The New Orleans Saints are unsure who they will start at quarterback in Week 8 against the Las Vegas Raiders. Jameis Winston (back, ankle) started the first three games of the season before he got injured, and he's dressed as the third QB the last two games. Andy Dalton has started the last four games, but the team could make a change after Dalton threw two pick-sixes in the Week 7 loss to the Arizona Cardinals last Thursday. Dalton has also been limited in practices in recent weeks due to a back injury. Whoever starts will be nothing more than a low-end QB2 option for fantasy managers in superflex leagues. The Saints offense will also be hoping to get both wide receivers Michael Thomas (foot) and Jarvis Landry (ankle) back this weekend.

  • Andy Dalton's Huge Thursday Night Ruined By Three Picks

New Orleans Saints quarterback Andy Dalton completed 30 of 47 attempts for 361 yards with four touchdowns and three interceptions in Thursday's 42-34 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. The 34-year-old had a big night, throwing for season-highs in passing yards and touchdowns, but threw three picks on Thursday. He threw a pair of pick-sixes on back-to-back possessions during the second quarter. The "Red Rifle" is expected to be the Saints' starting quarterback moving forward but will need to keep his turnovers in check if Dalton plans to keep the job over Jameis Winston. Dalton is a borderline QB2 and an option in superflex leagues against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 8.

  • Andy Dalton Could Remain Saints Starter Moving Forward

New Orleans Saints quarterback Andy Dalton could remain the team's starter moving forward. According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, "there is a real chance" Dalton remains the Saints starter; his "calming influence" could help keep the starting gig over Jameis Winston. Dalton was named the team's starter for Week 7 against the Arizona Cardinals and has started the team's last three games. The 34-year-old has thrown for 585 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception over three games in 2022. Dalton remains mainly an option in deep-league and Superflex league formats.

  • Andy Dalton Starting On Thursday Night

New Orleans Saints quarterback Andy Dalton is starting on Thursday night against the Arizona Cardinals, according to a source. Jameis Winston will be active as the No. 3 quarterback for the Saints to kick off Week 7 action. All signs had been pointing toward Dalton getting the start over Winston with both QBs being taken off the final injury report on Wednesday. Dalton will have rookie first-round receiver Chris Olave as his top aerial target, but Michael Thomas (foot) and Jarvis Landry (ankle) will miss another game. The 34-year-old veteran has been under 200 yards passing in two of his three starts so far this year and has three touchdowns and one interception. Dalton is nothing more than a low-end, low-upside QB2 in superflex formats.

  • "Signs Are Pointing" Towards Andy Dalton Starting Thursday

New Orleans Saints quarterback Andy Dalton (back) will likely make his fourth consecutive start against the Arizona Cardinals Thursday night. According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the Saints haven't revealed their starting quarterback, but "all signs are pointing" towards Dalton getting his fourth consecutive start against the Cardinals. The 35-year-old has been solid over his last three starts, throwing for 583 yards and three touchdowns during that span. Dalton will be without offensive weapons Michael Thomas (foot) and Jarvis Landry (ankle) for Thursday night, making the red rifle mainly an option in superflex leagues.

  • Jameis Winston, Andy Dalton Avoid Injury Designations

New Orleans Saints quarterbacks Jameis Winston (back/ankle) and Andy Dalton (back) will both be available for the team's Week 7 matchup with the Arizona Cardinals. Although Winston was active for Week 6, Dalton has started the past three games and head coach Dennis Allen has declined to name the QB1 for Thursday night. Either would project as a low-end fantasy QB2 against a vulnerable Arizona pass defense, and offensive weapons Alvin Kamara and Chris Olave should be started in all formats regardless of who is under center.

  • Andy Dalton A QB2 In Week 7

New Orleans Saints quarterback Andy Dalton (back) is likely to be the team's starter when they face off against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 7's Thursday night game. Dalton has been filling in for the injured Jameis Winston over the past three games and was able to get in a limited practice while running the first team on Tuesday. The Cardinals represent a good matchup for Dalton as they are allowing the 11th-most fantasy points per game to the quarterback position through six weeks of action. Dalton is on the board as a low-end QB2 in fantasy in Week 7.

  • Andy Dalton, Jameis Winston Limited Monday

New Orleans Saints quarterbacks Andy Dalton (back) and Jameis Winston (ankle, back) were both listed as limited on Monday's estimated practice report. It doesn't sound like Dalton's injury is serious, but it's worth keeping an eye on ahead of Thursday night's contest against the Arizona Cardinals. Winston was active in the Week 6 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, but he's not yet 100 percent and is likely to serve as Dalton's backup yet again this week if both players are active. Dalton went 17-for-32 for just 162 yards and a touchdown on Sunday in his third straight start for the Saints. If he gets his fourth straight start on Thursday Night Football, he'll continue to serve as a low-end QB2 with a low ceiling for fantasy managers in superflex formats.

  • Andy Dalton Posts Lackluster Performance

New Orleans Saints quarterback Andy Dalton was given a chance to prove he can be the starter going forward. Sadly, the 34-year-old failed to capitalize on his opportunity during the Week 6 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Dalton completed 17-of-32 passing attempts for 162 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions in the 30-26 defeat. To be fair, Dalton didn't have many weapons with most of his primary wide receivers on the sideline for this game. It's uncertain if the Saints plan on starting Dalton or giving the offense back to Jameis Winston next week. Dalton won't be anything more than a low-end QB2 against the Arizona Cardinals, assuming he starts in Week 7.

  • Andy Dalton Could Remain Starter

New Orleans Saints quarterback Andy Dalton could remain the starter for the team going forward. Jameis Winston (back, ankle) is active for Week 6, but will serve as the emergency backup quarterback. It appears Dalton could stay under center even when Winston gets healthy. The Saints have faith in Dalton and believe he could significantly help this team, assuming he continues to play well. His Week 6 performance will likely go a long way to determining whether or not he remains as the starter. Fantasy managers who are holding onto Winston might want to begin looking elsewhere.

  • Andy Dalton To Start In Week 6

New Orleans Saints quarterback Andy Dalton will get his second straight start for New Orleans while Jameis Winston (back) continues to try to heal up. Dalton is a serviceable start in the NFL, but his fantasy prospects are limited against a strong Cincinnati Bengals defense. Michael Thomas (foot) has already been ruled out and Chris Olave (concussion) and Jarvis Landry (ankle) could miss the game, too. Only start Dalton in deep superflex leagues if there aren't better options available.

  • Andy Dalton To Make Another Start, Jameis Winston Out Again

New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen announced that backup quarterback Andy Dalton will make his second straight start in Week 5 against the Seattle Seahawks with Jameis Winston (ankle, back) set to miss his second straight game. Winston is dealing with four small fractures in his back and an ankle injury, and he didn't practice at all this week. There's a chance he could be out again in Week 6 against the Cincinnati Bengals. Dalton will be operating without receiver Michael Thomas (foot) for the second straight week as well. The Red Rifle went 20-for-28 with 236 yards, a touchdown and a lost fumble in last week's loss to the Minnesota Vikings in London. He'll have an easier matchup against Seattle, but Dalton will be nothing more than a low-upside, low-end QB2.

  • Andy Dalton Looks Solid In London

New Orleans Saints quarterback Andy Dalton completed 20 of 28 passes for 236 yards, one touchdown, and zero interceptions during Sunday's loss to the Minnesota Vikings. He was sacked twice in the contest. Dalton didn't have an exceptional fantasy performance, but he kept the Saints in the game until the last second, leading numerous scoring drives. If Jameis Winston (back) is forced to miss any more time, New Orleans should feel more than comfortable deploying Dalton as its starter.

  • Andy Dalton- Week 4 Outlook For Fantasy Football

New Orleans Saints quarterback Andy Dalton is in line to draw the start Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings with starter Jameis Winston (back, ankle, hip) doubtful to play. The 34-year-old signed a one-year deal this offseason to back up Winston. He threw for 1,515 yards and an 8:9 TD: INT ratio over eight games with the Bears in 2021. Dalton will be without star wide receiver Michael Thomas (foot), who was ruled out for Sunday's game. The rest of the Saints' wide receiver core, Jarvis Landry and Chris Olave, will be available. Dalton has a plus matchup against the Vikings, who rank 15th against opposing quarterbacks and 26th in pass DVOA this season. The red rifle can be used as a streamer and is a borderline QB2 in superflex leagues in Week 4.
