  • Julian Edelman Moved To Injured Reserve

New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman (knee) has been placed on the Injured Reserve. Edelman had surgery on his knee and is expected to miss at least the next three games, though head coach Bill Belichick seemed optimistic about the veteran receiver returning at some point before the end of the season. It's safe to drop Edelman in 12-team leagues, especially since he wasn't really producing before going under the knife. With starter N'Keal Harry (concussion) also out on Sunday, the Patriots will have to turn to Jakobi Meyers, Damiere Byrdand Gunner Olszewski for three-wide receiver sets. Meyers and Byrd can only be used by the most desperate of fantasy managers in deeper leagues, as the matchup against Buffalo is tough.

  • Julian Edelman, N'Keal Harry Out Against Buffalo

New England Patriots wide receivers Julian Edelman (knee) and N'Keal Harry (concussion) have both been ruled out for Week 8 against the division-rival Bills. Edelman underwent a minor knee procedure this week and could miss multiple games. He's become a drop candidate in 12-team leagues due to his injury and declining production sans Tom Brady. Harry missed last week's game as well and didn't practice all week. Expect the Pats to roll with Damiere Byrd, Gunner Olszewski and Jakobi Myers in three-wide sets against Buffalo this week. Quarterback Cam Newton will be more of a low-end QB2 without his top aerial weapons, while running backs James White and Rex Burkhead could be sneaky flex options in PPR leagues.

  • Julian Edelman Has Procedure On Knee

Updating a previous report, New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman (knee) underwent a precautionary standard procedure on his knee on Thursday, according to a source. He's expected to be out for "some period of time," including the Week 8 game against the division-rival Bills. The good news is that he's not expected to miss the rest of the year, but it means that those in 12-team leagues can drop him at this point. The veteran pass-catcher hasn't topped three catches or 35 yards in any of his last four games. With N'Keal Harry (concussion) questionable this weekend, the Pats could be trotting out Damiere Byrd, Gunner Olszewski and Jakobi Myers in three-wide sets. It's safe to say that quarterback Cam Newton won't be a strong play this Sunday.

  • Julian Edelman Expected To Miss Time

New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman (knee) isn't at practice on Thursday and is expected to miss some game action, according to a source. Edelman has been bothered by a knee injury, which could require surgery, although he's not expected to miss the rest of the season. It could be why the veteran just hasn't been himself this year, even though Tom Brady is in Tampa. Edelman caught just one pass for 13 yards in the Week 7 blowout loss to the 49ers and he's now droppable in 12-team leagues. He's been held to 35 yards or less in four straight contests. N'Keal Harry, Damiere Byrd and Jakobi Myers should see more work with Edelman set to miss time. It's more bad news for quarterback Cam Newton as well.

  • Julian Edelman Continues Downward Spiral

New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman hasn't been able to do much of anything on the field since Week 2. His performances are becoming laughable at this point in the season. He finished with one reception on three targets for 13 yards in the Week 7 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. The Pats offense is horrendous, so fantasy owners in 12-team standard leagues can pretty much give up on Edelman at this point. He has posted four straight awful performances, so there's not a good chance it gets better against the Buffalo Bills in Week 8.

  • Julian Edelman Active In Week 7

New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman (knee) had been limited at practice this week while dealing with a knee injury. However, he is officially active for the team's Week 7 game against the San Francisco 49ers. Edelman has struggled lately, with just seven catches over his past three games. He's tough to trust for fantasy purposes right now, but he should remain owned in all leagues as he can be a fantasy stalwart, especially in PPR, if he gets rolling.

  • Julian Edelman Holds Low-End WR3 Value

New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman has been having a difficult time getting anything going over the last few weeks. It doesn't seem that quarterback Cam Newton and Edelman are able to develop any kind of chemistry together. Last week, Edelman finished with two receptions for eight yards in the loss to the Denver Broncos. It's highly unlikely that Edelman holds much better value here versus the San Francisco 49ers. A team that has been solid against the passing attack all season. Maybe, Edelman can hold low-end WR3 value if he's lucky.

  • Julian Edelman Continues To Disappoint

New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman continues to struggle with three straight dud performances. In Week 6, Edelman caught two of his six targets for eight yards in the loss to the Denver Broncos. He now has seven total receptions over the last three games combined. Quarterback Cam Newton struggled to move the ball on offense and Edelman's value continues to fall. He'll be a low-end WR3 against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 7.

  • Julian Edelman Active For Week 6

New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman (knee) is active for Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos. Edelman will serve as the primary receiving option for quarterback Cam Newton and should be considered a solid WR3 play against the Broncos Defense, which has surrendered some good performances to opposing slot receivers this season.

  • Julian Edelman Hopeful For Bounce Back Game

New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman has a total of five receptions over the last two games. It has been a struggle for Edelman to get any momentum going recently, but that will hopefully change in Week 6. The Pats believe veteran quarterback Cam Newton should be able to play against the Denver Broncos. That should give a boost to Edelman's value in this one. Denver has struggled to slow down the passing attack this season. They allowed Jamison Crowder to reach over 100 yards during their last game. Fantasy owners should be able to trust Edelman as a WR3 for Week 6.

  • Julian Edelman Back On Injury Report

New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman (knee) got in a limited practice on Thursday. Edelman is usually on the team's practice report and gets in limited practices before being active on game day. He'll be facing a Broncos Defense without most of their big-time playmakers this Sunday. Denver also allows the 10th-most fantasy points to opposing receivers. The 34-year-old caught just three of six targets for 35 yards in the Week 4 loss to the Chiefs with quarterback Cam Newton sitting out. The good news is that Newton will be back on Sunday, and Edelman leads the team with 31 targets, although he's caught just 18 of those. He's one of three receivers with 30-plus targets and no touchdowns, but that could change in Week 6. Edelman will be a WR3/flex option.

  • Julian Edelman Has Low Ceiling Versus Broncos

New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman posted a huge performance in Week 2, but has disappeared since then. Last week, Edelman hauled in three of his six targets for 35 yards in the loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. He'll get a more favorable matchup in Week 5 against the Denver Broncos. A team that allowed Jamison Crowder to finish with over 100 receiving yards against them. Sadly, Edelman will probably have a low ceiling in fantasy leagues until Cam Newton returns. Both Brian Hoyer and Jarrett Stidham looked horrendous under center last week. Hopefully Edelman can carve out WR3 value against Denver.

  • Julian Edelman Continues To Struggle

New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman had a tough time getting anything going versus the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 4. He hauled in three of his six targets for 35 yards in the loss. The 34-year-old receiver has struggled each of the last two weeks, but this one wasn't all his fault. Edelman was stuck with Brian Hoyer and Jarrett Stidham throwing him the football. Going forward, Edelman will have a low-ceiling in fantasy leagues until Cam Newton returns.

  • Julian Edelman, Sony Michel Land Questionable Tags

New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman (knee) and running back Sony Michel (quadriceps) are both listed as questionable for Week 4 against the Chiefs. Both players were limited in practice all week, so we'd expect them both to play. The bigger concern here is whether this game will be played at all in Week 4 after quarterback Cam Newton tested positive for COVID-19. Edelman has plenty of upside this week as a WR2, even with Brian Hoyer under center, since the Patriots are unlikely to have the luxury of running the ball all day like they did in Week 3 against the Raiders. He'll be looking to bounce back after a dud against Las Vegas. Michel went off last week but will be up against a stingy KC defensive front. Temper expectations for him as more of an RB3/flex. Continue to check back for updates on whether this game will be played on Monday or Tuesday this week.

  • Julian Edelman A Strong WR3 Play For Week 4

New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman is looking to rebound after his dud performance against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 3. Edelman hauled in two of six targets for 23 yards in the victory. It was a disappointing game for Edelman after he posted a career-high 179 receiving yard performance the week prior. Fantasy owners should stick with Edelman for their Week 4 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. Edelman should be able to produce WR3 value here.

  • Sony Michel, Julian Edelman Limited Wednesday

New England Patriots running back Sony Michel (quadriceps) and wide receiver Julian Edelman (knee) were both limited in practice on Wednesday. Michel has dealt with plenty of injuries so far in his career, so this one is worth watching, but as of right now, he seems like a good bet to play in Week 4 against the Chiefs. Michel ran all over the Raiders in the victory last week, but KC's defensive front will be a much tougher matchup. Consider him as more of a touchdown-dependent RB3/flex. Edelman is frequently on the injury report with minor injuries but usually plays through them. He was quiet last week in a game in which Rex Burkhead scored three times. The Pats will have to throw the ball to keep up with the Chiefs in this contest, making Edelman a good bet to bounce back as a WR2. The Chiefs are a bit beat up in the secondary as well.

  • Julian Edelman Posts Dud Versus Raiders

New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman was coming off a performance where he posted a career-high 179 receiving yards in Week 2. Sadly, he was unable to carry that momentum into his matchup versus the Las Vegas Raiders. Edelman hauled in two of his six targets for 23 yards in the victory. It was a dud performance by Edelman, but fantasy owners shouldn't be worried. He should be able to be trusted as a WR2 versus the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 4.

  • Julian Edelman Has WR2 Value Versus Raiders

New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman was able to destroy the Seattle Seahawks secondary in Week 2. He hauled in eight of his 11 targets for 179 yards in the loss. It was a promising performance after a fairly average season opener. The Patriots are likely going to lean on Edelman quite a lot this season. He'll get a favorable matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 3. Fantasy owners should be able to count on Edelman as a WR2 for this one.

  • Julian Edelman Finishes With 179 Yards

New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman was doing everything he could versus the Seattle Seahawks in Week 2. He caught eight of 11 targets for 179 receiving yards in the loss. He has been held scoreless through the first two games, but this performance was a step in the right direction. The Patriots don't have many weapons, so they will likely continue to lean on Edelman going forward. He should be considered a high-end WR3 versus the Las Vegas Raiders next week.

  • Julian Edelman, N'Keal Harry Should Play Sunday Night

New England Patriots wide receivers Julian Edelman (knee) and N'Keal Harry (shoulder) should both be on the field against the Seahawks Sunday night. Both were limited all week in practice, though the team was likely being careful with two players who were a huge part of their passing game in Week 1. Edelman and Harry saw a combined 13 targets against the Dolphins and would be viable fantasy options against Seattle, particularly if the game leans more toward the over.

  • Julian Edelman Has Promising Upside

New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman technically didn't even start their Week 1 contest against the Miami Dolphins. However, he was on the field for a majority of their offensive snaps. Edelman finished with five receptions on seven targets for 57 yards. The Patriots are lacking reliable options, so quarterback Cam Newton should look his way quite often. Edelman will have a tougher matchup against the Seattle Seahawks Defense in Week 2. Although, the Seahawks gave up the most fantasy points to wide receivers last season. Fantasy owners should be able to trust Edelman as a WR3 and possibly low-end WR2 for Week 2.

  • Julian Edelman Hauls In Five Receptions

New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman did not technically start during their Week 1 win over the Miami Dolphins. The team elected to start N'Keal Harry and Damiere Byrd, but Edelman was out there for a majority of their plays. Edelman hauled in five of his seven targets for 57 yards. It wasn't a great outing from him, but things should get better as the season goes on. Edelman should be able to produce WR3 numbers versus the Seattle Seahawks in Week 2.

  • Julian Edelman On Week 1 Injury Report

New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman (knee) was listed as a limited practice participant on Wednesday ahead of Week 1 against the Dolphins. Edelman somehow usually finds his way onto the injury report but usually plays, so we'd expect him to be active for the season opener this Sunday. Miami upgraded their secondary in the offseason, but Edelman should still be peppered with targets from quarterback Cam Newton as his go-to aerial weapon. In what is expected to be more of a run-heavy offense sans Tom Brady, the 34-year-old's floor and ceiling will be lower in 2020. However, he's not a bad under-the-radar WR3 to kick off the season against a familiar foe.

  • Julian Edelman Has Favorable Week 1 Matchup

New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman could be in for a big game to kick off the season. He'll get a favorable matchup against the Miami Dolphins, who allowed the fourth most fantasy points to receivers last season. The Pats don't have many reliable and healthy options at receiver, which means Edelman will have a high volume of targets. The healthy of quarterback Cam Newton will be a big factor in Edelman's value this season. New England doesn't have too many weapons, so expect them to lean on Edelman in the passing attack. Fantasy owners should be able to trust Edelman as a WR1 for Week 1.

Sep 9 · Source via Patriots Julian Edelman
  • Julian Edelman Will Likely See Less Work As Punt Returner

New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman will likely see less work as a punt returner this season so the team can give the 34-year-old player more opportunities to be effective in the passing game. The veteran still remains one of the most valuable offensive pieces on the team and just needs more time to take a breather, especially after playing in 87 percent of the offense's snaps last season. The Kent State product recorded 100 receptions, 153 targets, 1,117 yards 11.2 yards per catch, and six touchdowns in 2019 with Tom Brady at the helm. Now with Cam Newton running the show, Edelman will still see a good number of targets as the Pats just released Mohamed Sanu and don't have any proven receivers aside from him. Consider Edelman a solid WR3.
