  • Matt Ryan Has Abysmal Performance In Week 12 Loss

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Matt Ryan completed 22-of-34 passes for 199 yards and a touchdown and an interception in the Colts' Week 12 loss against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Ryan was struggling right out of the gates as his first two passes were a near-interception and then an interception. He failed to recognize and escape pressure and was unable to consistently put drives together. The lone bright spot here is that the Colts will almost always be trailing, meaning plenty of garbage time for the Colts skill position players. Ryan is not a recommended start even in deeper superflex formats in a tough Week 12 tilt against the Dallas Cowboys

  • Matt Ryan Looks To Rebound In Week 12 Against Steelers

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Matt Ryan is coming off of a near-upset against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 11. Despite not throwing a touchdown, the Colts were able to stick around until the very end. Things will likely be easier for Ryan this week against the Steelers' low-end secondary. Allowing the fourth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks, the Steelers have become a targeted matchup for fantasy managers looking to stream matchups. Expect Ryan to bounce back this week as an interesting streaming option. While he isn't a QB1, he may be an option in superflex formats.

  • Matt Ryan Looking To Upset The Eagles In Week 11

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Matt Ryan started in Week 10 and beat the Las Vegas Raiders, instantly elevating the offense in the process. Interim head coach Jeff Saturday confirmed on Wednesday that Ryan would continue to start moving forward over Sam Ehlinger. While Ryan's return to the starting lineup is a boost for all Colts skill position players, he still remains a volatile option at the QB position. He's had boom weeks as well as more than a few bust weeks. This week's matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles will be tough for Ryan, making him a low-end QB2 option in superflex formats.

  • Colts Name Matt Ryan The Starter

Indianapolis Colts interim head coach Jeff Saturday confirmed on Wednesday that quarterback Matt Ryan is the team's starter. The Colts made the surprise move to bench Sam Ehlinger for Ryan right before the Week 10 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. It's not a surprise that the Colts will stick with the veteran signal-caller moving forward. The 37-year-old went 21-for-28 for 222 yards and a touchdown and added 38 rushing yards and another touchdown in the win over the Raiders. Ryan gives the Colts a much better chance to win in the short term and he elevates all of the team's offensive skill players in real life and in fantasy. He'll face a tough test in Week 11 against the Philadelphia Eagles defense, though, and he should be considered a low-end QB2.

  • Matt Ryan Takes The Reins, Beats Raiders In Week 10

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Matt Ryan returned as the starting quarterback and led the team to a 25-20 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. He completed 21 of 28 passes for 222 yards and a touchdown. One of interim head coach Jeff Saturday's first moves as head coach was reinstalling Ryan as the Colts' starter, and that elevated the offense immediately. Ryan continuously moved the ball down the field, including a 39-yard scramble late in the game. The fantasy takeaway from this game may not be Ryan becoming fantasy relevant, but rather him elevating all of the Colts' skill position players moving forward. He is best left on benches against Philadelphia in Week 11 in single-QB leagues.

  • Sam Ehlinger Benched For Matt Ryan

Updating a previous report, Indianapolis Colts quarterback Matt Ryan will start in Week 10 against the Las Vegas Raiders over Sam Ehlinger. Interim head coach Jeff Saturday will go back to the veteran signal-caller in his first game as head coach on the road on Sunday. Ryan was seen taking snaps from starting center Ryan Kelly during pre-game warmups, which was the first sign that the Colts were making the switch at QB. The 37-year-old Ryan didn't look good at all in his first seven starts this year before being benched, but he has to be considered an upgrade for Indy's pass-catchers like Michael Pittman Jr., Parris Campbell and Alec Pierce. Still, he shouldn't be considered as anything more than a low-end QB2 in his return to the starting role against the Raiders.

  • Matt Ryan Takes First-Team Reps Over Sam Ehlinger

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Matt Ryan was spotted taking first-team reps over Sam Ehlinger prior to Sunday's game against the Las Vegas Raiders. This is a significant development as it looks like interim head coach Jeff Saturday has made a change under center. Ryan completed 203 of 297 passes (68.4 percent) for 2,008 yards, nine touchdowns, and nine interceptions through the first seven weeks of the season. He was benched prior to Week 8. Through two games, Ehlinger tossed for just 304 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception. He added 54 yards on the ground but was sacked a whopping nine times last week. The return of Ryan boosts the fantasy value of Jonathan Taylor, Michael Pittman Jr., Parris Campbell, and Alec Pierce.

  • Sam Ehlinger, Matt Ryan Not In Closed Competition

Indianapolis Colts interim head coach Jeff Saturday said that the quarterback situation between Sam Ehlinger and Matt Ryan isn't a closed competition. Ryan has recovered from his right shoulder injury and will serve as Ehlinger's backup in Week 10 against the Las Vegas Raiders. Saturday said the team will constantly evaluate every position, so although the Colts said that Ehlinger would be their starter for the rest of the season before they fired head coach Frank Reich, there's now a possibility the Colts turn back to Ryan if Ehlinger continues to struggle under center. Ehlinger will likely be on a short leash now, and Ryan could once again become relevant in two-QB superflex leagues if he regains the starting role.

  • Matt Ryan To Back Up Sam Ehlinger

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Matt Ryan (shoulder) is set to be active against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 10, but he'll serve as Sam Ehlinger's backup in Jeff Saturday's first game as the head coach. Those in deep two-QB or superflex leagues might want to consider picking up Ryan as a bench stash. Ehlinger's leash probably won't be long, and with a new coach leading the team, Ryan could find his way back on the field at some point this year. Under Ehlinger, the offense has been even worse, and the Colts' receivers have fallen off the fantasy radar.

  • Matt Ryan Practices In Full Thursday

Updating a previous report, Indianapolis Colts quarterback Matt Ryan (shoulder) was a full participant in practice on Thursday and will be available to interim head coach Jeff Saturday on Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders, if so desired. Ryan is recovering from a Grade 2 right shoulder sprain, but the Colts still plan on using Sam Ehlinger as the starter under center for the rest of the season. The 37-year-old had 10 turnovers to open the season, but it remains to be seen if Saturday would consider going back to him if Ehlinger continues to play poorly. There's a chance that Ryan will be the backup to Ehlinger over Nick Foles in Week 10. For now, Ryan needs to remain on the waiver wire in all single-QB leagues.

  • Matt Ryan Back At Practice Thursday

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Matt Ryan (shoulder) is back at practice on Thursday. Ryan is dealing with a Grade 2 right shoulder sprain and was demoted from the starting role in favor of Sam Ehlinger a few weeks back. The Colts continue to say that Ehlinger will be their starter going forward, even in the wake of the firing of head coach Frank Reich this week. But if things continue to go poorly for Ehlinger and the Colts offense, the team may have no choice but to go back to the veteran Ryan. For now, the 37-year-old remains well off the fantasy radar, but it's a good sign that he's improving from his right shoulder injury.

  • Chris Ballard Expected To Return In 2023

Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay said "of course" he expects general manager Chris Ballard to return in 2023. Irsay called Ballard "a winner." Irsay also said last week that head coach Frank Reich's job was safe, but he went back on that and fired him on Monday after a 26-3 loss to the New England Patriots in Week 9. Ballard has been leading the Colts for six seasons, but he has failed to win at the quarterback position since Andrew Luck abruptly retired in 2019. Former center Jeff Saturday will take over as the interim head coach for the Colts, while they'll continue to roll with quarterback Sam Ehlinger, who hasn't looked any better than veteran Matt Ryan did to open his first year in Indy.

  • Sam Ehlinger Will Remain The Starter In Indianapolis

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Sam Ehlinger will remain the team's starter, according to interim head coach Jeff Saturday. Saturday took over as head coach for Frank Reich, who was fired on Monday. That being said, the Colts will stick with Ehlinger instead of turning back to veteran signal-caller Matt Ryan, who was benched after Week 7. The benching was apparently the idea of team owner Jim Irsay and Ryan will continue to be sidelined despite the shake-up on the coaching staff. Ehlinger has thrown for 304 yards and one interception in two games. He's still looking for his first career touchdown pass.

  • Jeff Saturday Named Colts Interim Head Coach

The Indianapolis Colts are naming former six-time Pro Bowl center and ESPN analyst Jeff Saturday as their interim head coach on Monday after firing Frank Reich. Saturday has been a consultant for the team and is in its Ring of Honor. He was also the head coach for the Hebron Christian Academy football team in Georgia. The Colts have been reeling as an organization ever since losing to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the regular season finale last year to miss the playoffs. They dumped Carson Wentz and traded for Matt Ryan, but Ryan was benched last week in favor of Sam Ehlinger, and the team also fired offensive coordinator Marcus Brady. Indy's offense has become one of the worst in football, and they've scored just 19 points in their last two games.

  • Colts Fire Head Coach Frank Reich

The Indianapolis Colts fired head coach Frank Reich on Monday, according to sources. The move comes after the team's 26-3 loss to the New England Patriots in Week 9, the Colts' third straight loss. Indianapolis recently made the switch from veteran quarterback Matt Ryan to Sam Ehlinger and also fired offensive coordinator Marcus Brady last week, but it couldn't save Reich his job. The 60-year-old went 40-33-1 in the regular season and 1-2 in two playoff appearances with the Colts. The team had different opening-day starters at QB in each of Reich's five seasons as the franchise struggled to replace Andrew Luck after his sudden retirement before the 2019 season. The Colts didn't convert any of their 14 third-down attempts, which tied the worst single-game mark in the NFL in the last 30 years.

  • Sam Ehlinger Brutal In Week 9 Blowout Loss

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Sam Ehlinger completed 15 of 29 passes for 103 yards and zero touchdowns while adding an interception in the Week 9 loss to the New England Patriots. This one never seemed close, as New England's defense dominated from start to finish, holding the Colts offense to just 121 yards. Ehlinger hasn't looked any better than Matt Ryan, so there could potentially be a decision made when Ryan's shoulder heals. The only thing Ehlinger provides that Ryan doesn't is his rushing ability. Ehlinger remains off of the fantasy radar in even the deepest of leagues in a matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders next week.

  • Matt Ryan Won't Practice Again This Week

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Matt Ryan (shoulder) won't practice again this week due to his right shoulder injury. Injury issues aside, the Colts said last week that they have benched Ryan for the rest of the year in favor of Sam Ehlinger. It's highly likely that Ryan will be inactive for the Week 9 contest against the New England Patriots, and he's not expected to start again in 2022 unless something happens to Ehlinger. If Ryan is inactive again this weekend, veteran Nick Foles would again serve as Ehlinger's backup. The 37-year-old Ryan had nine touchdowns and a league-high nine interceptions in seven games played before being benched in what has become a mess of a Colts offense. Indy also fired offensive coordinator Marcus Brady this week.

  • Marcus Brady Relieved Of His Duties In Indy

The Indianapolis Colts relieved offensive coordinator Marcus Brady of his duties on Tuesday. The move comes a week after the team benched veteran quarterback Matt Ryan as the starter in his first year with the organization. Head coach Frank Reich has been calling the offensive plays in 2022, with Brady working on game-planning and play design. Brady became the team's offensive coordinator in 2021 after Nick Sirianni left to become the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. The Colts offense currently ranks 30th in points per game (16.1), is tied for the most turnovers in the league (16) and is 31st in offensive EPA (minus-36.54). Ryan was sacked 24 times in seven games as the starter. It remains to be seen who will take over the offensive coordinator role in Indy the rest of the season.

Midway through a season rife with underwhelming play on the offensive side of the ball, the Colts have made a significant move on the sidelines. • Frank Reich Not Considered To Be On Hot Seat

On Monday, the Indianapolis Colts made the surprising move to bench quarterback Matt Ryan. The 37-year-old is reportedly dealing with an injury, but it doesn't sound like they pulled him because of that. The team named second-year quarterback Sam Ehlinger the starter for the remainder of the season. That news led many to believe head coach Frank Reich was desperate to win and wanted to make do-or-die move. Despite that, it doesn't sound like Reich is on the hot seat. The organization feels like they can open up the offense more with a young and mobile quarterback such as Ehlinger under center. It'll be interesting to see if the 3-3-1 Colts can get back on track. Possibly, Reich is on the hot seat if this experiment goes horribly wrong. In the meantime, Reich is expected to remain the Colts head coach until further notice.

  • Matt Ryan Injured, Benched For Rest Of Season

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Matt Ryan (shoulder) will not play next week against the Washington Commanders, and Frank Reich said Sam Ehlinger would have started this week regardless of the injury. Ehlinger is expected to be the Colts' starter for the rest of the 2022 season after a disappointing start to the season by Matt Ryan. Ryan has thrown nine interceptions through seven weeks and has fumbled three times. The Colts sit at 3-3-1 and have already lost two games to the Tennessee Titans. We may have seen the last of Ryan in his NFL playing career.

  • Matt Ryan Gives Lackluster Performance

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Matt Ryan was expected to do well this week after tossing for nearly 400 yards and throwing three touchdowns last week. Sadly, fantasy managers weren't able to get similar results in Week 7. The 37-year-old completed 33-of-44 passing attempts for one touchdown with two interceptions in the loss to the Tennessee Titans. It was a day where Ryan struggled to throw it deep and the short passing game wasn't working for Indy. The hope is that Ryan will bounce back against the Washington Commanders next week. Although, he shouldn't be considered more than a QB2 right now.

  • Matt Ryan Draws Comparison To Peyton Manning

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Matt Ryan has been getting high praise from the organization. Recently, owner Jim Irsay mentioned that Ryan's leadership is similar to that of Peyton Manning. "I've been around a lot of leaders and I'd put him right up there with Peyton Manning. A really outstanding, tough guy who doesn't back down," says Irsay. The 37-year-old was acquired by Indy during the offseason. The organization believes that Ryan still has plenty left in the tank. His results have been a bit of a mixed bag through the first six weeks of the season. However, Ryan is playing better lately and is hopefully on the right track now.

  • Matt Ryan A High-End QB2 For Week 7

Indianapolis Colt quarterback Matt Ryan got back on track last week against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The 37-year-old threw for 385 yards with three touchdowns in the Week 6 victory. Ryan broke a single-game record for the most completions in a single game, which was 42 during Sunday's win. He got off to an ugly start to the season, but has looked better over the last few weeks. That being said, Ryan should be considered a high-end QB2 for the upcoming matchup against the Tennessee Titans.

  • Matt Ryan Looks Fantastic In Week 6

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Matt Ryan bounced back nicely against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. The 37-year-old desperately needed a solid performance after posting a dud the week prior against Denver. Ryan started slow, but eventually took advantage of the Jags weak secondary. He completed 42-of-58 passing attempts for 389 yards with three touchdowns and zero interceptions in the win. Ryan set a Colts single-season record for completions during this contest. The veteran signal caller has been hit-and-miss this season, but was on his game here. However, he'll likely lose some value when the Colts go back to being run-heavy once Jonathan Taylor (ankle) is healthy. Ryan should be considered a high-end QB2 for next week's matchup with the Tennessee Titans.

  • Matt Ryan Is Not An Ideal Streaming Choice

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Matt Ryan has not looked too sharp through the first five weeks of the regular season. The 37-year-old is coming off a rough contest against the Denver Broncos last week. During that game, Ryan threw for 251 yards with two interceptions and didn't throw a touchdown. Now, Ryan heads into a matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 6. The same Jaguars defense that he threw three interceptions against in Week 2. That being said, it's tough to imagine Ryan having much streaming value here. He has been barely useable in fantasy leagues this season and will remain a bottom tier QB for Week 6.

  • Matt Ryan Looks Awful In Thursday's Win Over Denver

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Matt Ryan was coming off one of his better season performances heading into Week 5. Despite that, Ryan looked horrendous during the Week 5 win over the Denver Broncos. He completed 26-of-41 passing attempts for 251 passing yards and two interceptions without a touchdown. The offensive line was not helping Ryan at all during this contest. However, Ryan was making awful passes even when the wideouts were open. There's not much streaming appeal left in Ryan, with a matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 6.

  • Matt Ryan Likely To Struggle Versus Broncos

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Matt Ryan is coming off his strongest game of the season in Week 4. He has thrown for over 350 passing yards in two of the first four games. He'll likely be asked to pass the ball often this week with star running back Jonathan Taylor (ankle) sidelined. At first glance, Ryan should have increased passing numbers this week because Taylor is out. Although, it's worth noting that the Denver Broncos do have a strong defense. They will know the Colts will need to lean on the passing game, which could lead to problems for Indy. Ryan will be a low-end QB1 at best for this upcoming Thursday night matchup.

  • Matt Ryan Throws For Over 350 Yards In Loss

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Matt Ryan put together a fairly strong game through the air during Sunday's Week 4 matchup against the Tennessee Titans. The veteran signal-caller completed 27-of-37 passing attempts for 356 yards with two touchdowns and one interception in the loss. The stats make Ryan look better than he actually was during this contest. At this point, there's very little upside in his game with Michael Pittman Jr. as basically his only wide receiver. Ryan might fall into QB2 territory for the Week 5 matchup against the Denver Broncos.

  • Matt Ryan A Borderline QB1

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Matt Ryan had a nice bounce back outing against the Kansas City Chiefs last week. He completed 27-of-37 passing attempts for 222 passing yards with two touchdowns and zero interceptions in the win. The 37-year-old has been off to a shaky start in Indy, but hopefully this is a turning point for him. He's heading into a matchup against the Tennessee Titans in Week 4. A defense that is allowing 28 points per game this season. Ryan should be considered a borderline QB1 for this matchup.

  • Matt Ryan Tosses Two Touchdowns In Win

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Matt Ryan got back on track versus the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 3. The 37-year-old had arguably the worst start of his career in Week 2, but turned it around here. Ryan completed 27-of-37 passing attempts for 222 passing yards and two touchdowns without an interception in the victory. It wasn't pretty, but Ryan was able to get the job done this week. Although, Ryan is going to have suspect fantasy value going forward. It's honestly tough to even consider him a low-end QB1 for his upcoming matchup against the Tennessee Titans. There should be better options available in most 12-team re-draft formats.

  • Matt Ryan Looks To Get Back On Track

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Matt Ryan put together one of his worst starts of his career last week. The veteran signal-caller threw three interceptions without a touchdown for 195 passing yards in the shutout loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. To be fair, Ryan was without his top wide receiver in Michael Pittman Jr. (quad) last week. Luckily, Pittman is reportedly ready to go for Week 3 against the Kansas City Chiefs. A defense that has surprisingly played well through two games. This game could quickly get out of hand, which might actually help Ryan's fantasy numbers, assuming he can put together some garbage time scores. However, fantasy managers should consider Ryan a low-end QB1. Possibly, Ryan is able to turn it around with Pittman back on the field.

  • Matt Ryan Struggles In Week 2

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Matt Ryan finished with 195 yards and three interceptions during the loss to Jacksonville on Sunday. The veteran was lost without Michael Pittman Jr. (quadriceps), who was downgraded to out ahead of this one. He also didn't get much help from Jonathan Taylor in keeping the Jaguars defense honest, as the back accumulated only 54 yards off nine carries. Hopefully, Pittman will make it back for the Week 3 meeting against the Kansas City Chiefs. However, if he doesn't, fantasy managers should consider another signal-caller.

He should be considered a low-end QB1 for that contest.

The expectation is that Ryan will have better fantasy value in Indy. He'll have an upgraded offensive line and better options on offense such as Michael Pittman Jr. and Jonathan Taylor.
