  • Buccaneers Not Against Drafting Tom Brady's Successor

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians said he's not against taking a developmental quarterback at the end of the first round (pick No. 32) of this year's draft. The Buccaneers are returning 22 starters from their championship season a year ago, so they could take the best player available when their turn is up at the end of Day 1. Taking a signal-caller later in the draft is also an option. "If the right guy is there that we think is a developmental guy that has the upside that outweighs every other position of those five or six guys that we're looking at, then we wouldn't be against it," Arians said. The top-five QBs in the draft -- Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson, Trey Lance, Justin Fields and Mac Jones -- are all expected to be gone before Tampa picks at No. 32. Florida's Kyle Trask, Texas A&M's Kellen Mond and Stanford's Davis Mils could be options.

  • Tom Brady, Buccaneers Agree To One-Year Extension

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers agreed to terms on an undisclosed one-year contract extension for quarterback Tom Brady on Friday, according to sources. The deal gives the Super Bowl champions some salary cap space and locks Brady in for the 2022 season. Brady will turn 44 years old in August, but he really hasn't shown any signs of slowing down and has talked about playing past 45. Brady was set to count $28.375 million against the salary cap in 2021, but this extension will likely significantly reduce that hit. The extension tacks on an additional year to his original two-year, $50 million contract. The Bucs added void years to the back end of the deal to further reduce his salary cap hit this year. Tom Terrific threw for 4,633 yards, 40 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 16 regular season games. Until he shows signs of being human, he'll remain a QB1.

  • Rob Gronkowski Plans To Keep Playing

Tampa Bay Buccaneers impending free-agent tight end Rob Gronkowski said that he plans to play for another season. "I'm back, man!" Gronkowski said. "I will be back playing football, man. I love the game of football. I loved playing last year. I had a great time." The future Hall of Famer had 45 catches for 623 yards and seven touchdowns in 16 regular season games in 2020 after coming out of retirement to rejoin quarterback Tom Brady in Tampa. He had six catches for 67 yards and two touchdowns in the Super Bowl win over the Chiefs. The 31-year-old will be a free agent next week, but it'd be surprising if he didn't stick with the Bucs and Brady. While Gronk is no longer in his prime as an elite fantasy tight end, he should at least have low-end TE1 value if he remains healthy with Brady tossing him the pigskin.

  • Bucs, Tom Brady Discussing New Contract

Mar 6 · Pro Football Rumors Buccaneers Tom Brady
  • Tom Brady Expected To Be Ready By June

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians said that quarterback Tom Brady (knee) is expected to be ready to participate in team drills by June after he had surgery on his knee this month. The 43-year-old had minor cleanup surgery on his knee after winning his seventh Lombardi trophy by beating the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LV. He will return for the final year of his two-year deal in 2021, and the Buccaneers are now considering a contract extension for the GOAT after he didn't show any signs of slowing down in 2020. With most of the team's offensive weapons expected to return next season, Brady should continue to have a high floor as at least a midrange QB1 for fantasy managers.

  • Buccaneers Could Discuss Extension With Tom Brady

Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht said that the team could approach quarterback Tom Brady about a contract extension as he heads into the final year of his two-year deal with the team. Like Licht said, the 43-year-old GOAT didn't appear to slow down at all in 2020 on his way to winning his seventh Lombardi Trophy in Super Bowl LV over the Kansas City Chiefs. Brady is defying all expectations as he ventures into uncharted territory in terms of playing into his 40s, and it looks like he might play up until he's 45 at this point. While Father Time will get to him eventually, Brady remains healthy and productive for a Tampa Bay team with plenty of offensive weapons, so he'll at least be a midrange QB1 heading into the 2021 season.

  • Buccaneers Want To Retain Their Free Agents

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians hopes that the allure of winning another championship in 2021 can pull most of the team's impending free-agents back for another season. That includes players like wide receiver Chris Godwin, defensive end Shaquil Barrett, linebacker Lavonte David, tight end Rob Gronkowski, defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh and running back Leonard Fournette. "It's usually the money... if it's close, I think our guys really want to stay," Arians said. The presence of quarterback Tom Brady should entice veterans looking to chase a ring at the end of their careers, and he could also help keep a number of players in Tampa. The Bucs might franchise tag Godwin for around $16 million, as he's one of the top wideouts slated for free agency this offseason. Of all the team's free agents, Godwin is the least likely to leave.
