The Cardinals' backfield is going to look much different this year in new head coach Mike LaFleur's offense after both James Conner (ankle, foot) and Trey Benson (knee) suffered season-ending injuries early in 2025. Both Conner and Benson are still around, and although they figure to be No. 3 and No. 4 in the pecking order, their presence might be another reason not to go all in on Love, the third overall pick in April, as a true RB1 in 2026 in his first year in the NFL. It's hard to ignore the 21-year-old's production in his final two seasons at Notre Dame, though, as he went over 1,100 yards in both seasons with 35 total rushing touchdowns and five receiving TDs in 28 games. Love is the total package as an explosive runner with soft hands. He should have the upper hand for touches over Allgeier based on his draft capital alone, but Allgeier could continue to vulture TDs, much like he did in Atlanta. Rookie running back Jeremiyah Love has been the unquestioned fantasy darling of the 2026 draft class for months, and with the Arizona Cardinals making him the third overall pick in the NFL Draft, he finds himself in excellent company when projecting his fantasy impact. Love is the ninth running back since 2015 to earn top-12 draft capital, and all have proven capable of overcoming the situations that tend to surround teams picking that early. The average rookie season among those eight players has amounted to 1,474 yards from scrimmage and 11 touchdowns, with none of them failing to top 1,000 yards and Ashton Jeanty's RB13 finish last season making him the first of the group to finish outside of RB1 territory, albeit barely. An athletic marvel able to win with both speed and power, Love should earn a major role almost immediately, with his workload only increasing throughout the year, and with history on his side, he has a strong possibility of outperforming his current ADP of RB12.

The third overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, Arizona Cardinals running back Jeremiyah Love is widely considered to be an elite running back prospect. Across 12 games at Notre Dame in 2025, the 21-year-old recorded 1,652 scrimmage yards and 21 touchdowns on 226 touches. Given the draft capital that the Cardinals invested in Love, he profiles as one of their key building blocks on offense going forward. However, Love may not dominate touches in the Arizona backfield right away as a rookie. The Cardinals signed veteran back Tyler Allgeier to a two-year contract in free agency and also still have running backs James Conner and Trey Benson on their roster. While Arizona made some additions to its offensive line over the offseason, this is still a team that finished 31st in rushing yards and scored just nine rushing touchdowns a season ago. Love's long-term upside is sky-high, but he may be overvalued as a low-end RB1 by current redraft ADP.
