Chicago Bears quarterback Tyson Bagent likely secured a roster spot, and possibly the backup job, with the release of veteran P.J. Walker. The Division II Shepherd University product went undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft but impressed the coaches in training camp and preseason. He's now competing with Nathan Peterman for the QB2 job. Bagent holds the NCAA all-time record for career passing touchdowns and led Division II in completions during his senior season. Barring an injury, Justin Fields will still lead this team at the quarterback position.

Chicago Bears quarterback Tyson Bagent played behind only P.J. Walker in Saturday's preseason loss to the Colts with Justin Fields sitting out, and he did not disappoint. He played just two drives and went 9-for-10 for 76 passing yards. The 23-year-old also had a very impressive touchdown on the ground, where he dove and got into the end zone. Bagent played ahead of Nathan Peterman after playing behind him in the team's preseason opener. The undrafted rookie quarterback has now looked solid in two straight preseason games and will continue trying to push Peterman and Walker for the backup quarterback spot behind Fields.
