Of the teams lurking outside the top three who have been connected to a quarterback upgrade attempt, the Giants sit in the best spot. They hold the No. 6 overall pick, the same slot they were in when Daniel Jones became the Eli Manning heir apparent in 2019. Five years later, Jones’ status creates a […]

  • Tommy DeVito Benched Against Philadelphia

    Headshot for Tommy DeVito

New York Giants quarterback Tommy Devito endured a regrettable first half in Monday's matchup versus the Philadelphia Eagles and was not given the chance to redeem himself. The Giants' coaching staff opted to turn to veteran Tyrod Taylor. DeVito finished the game with nine completions for 55 yards and no touchdowns. He also added one rush for five yards. Coach Brian Daboll declined to name a starting quarterback for Week 17 when the Giants host the Los Angeles Rams.

  • Tommy DeVito Remains A Low-End QB2 Against Philadelphia

    Headshot for Tommy DeVito

New York Giants quarterback Tommy Devito took a step back against New Orleans in Week 15 and could face a similar uphill challenge against the Eagles on Monday afternoon. The undrafted rookie has been sacked 35 times in seven appearances, including seven last week. While Philadelphia is middle-of-the-pack for sacks this season, the defensive line is widely regarded as the strength of their defense. Sacks won't hurt DeVito's fantasy production (in most formats), but it does put the New York offense behind the chains, which decreases his touchdown odds. That's where DeVito does his damage in fantasy football, as he's failed to top 200 passing yards in four of five starts. The Eagles do allow the second-most fantasy points to the position, so he could hit that mark again this week. He should only be used in 2QB or Superflex formats.

The Saints pumped the brakes on Tommy DeVito‘s recent run, sacking him seven times in a one-sided Week 15 loss. Absorbing a concerning number of sacks is nothing new for DeVito, but the Giants had entered their Superdome date on a three-game win streak. Brian Daboll confirmed DeVito remains the team’s starter over Tyrod Taylor. […]

  • Tommy DeVito To Remain Giants Starter

    Headshot for Tommy DeVito

New York Giants rookie quarterback Tommy Devito had a rough game in the Week 15 loss to the New Orleans Saints and was sacked seven times, but the Giants plan to keep him as their starter under center heading into a Week 16 date with the Philadelphia Eagles next Monday night, according to head coach Brian Daboll. Daboll also said DeVito is sore but OK after having to leave the game briefly to be looked at by trainers. The 25-year-old is now 3-2 as a starter after going 20-for-34 for 177 yards with no touchdowns or turnovers on Sunday against the Saints. DeVito has exceeded expectations as an undrafted rookie thrown into the fire and is able to make plays with his legs, but he could be in for a second straight tough game in primetime next week against the division-leading Eagles.

  • Tommy DeVito To Remain Under Center

    Headshot for Tommy DeVito

New York Giants quarterback Tommy Devito threw for 177 yards off 20-for-34 passing in Sunday's loss to the Saints. He added four carries for 36 yards. The 25-year-old has played relatively well since taking over under center for the G-Men, passing for 855 yards, eight touchdowns, and three picks while completing 65.9% of his throws in seven appearances this season. However, there are many calling for DeVito to head back to the bench in favor of Tyrod Taylor, who recently returned from a rib injury. But that won't happen, with head coach Brian Daboll stating postgame that DeVito will remain the team's starter. Nonetheless, DeVito isn't the worst fantasy quarterback on the planet. Yet, he's not the most reliable option, either. But he still can be useful for multi-quarterback formats for those willing to take a risk from week to week.

  • Tommy DeVito Projected As A Low-End QB2 Against New Orleans

    Headshot for Tommy DeVito

New York Giants quarterback Tommy Devito is starting to figure out the NFL game. Picking up his third win in four starts, the undrafted rookie used his legs to defeat the Green Bay Packers in Week 14, with 71 rushing yards on 10 attempts. If he continues to run like that against the Saints, fantasy managers will have a strong baseline for fantasy points. Unfortunately, his numbers in the passing game have been about what you'd expect from an undrafted rookie quarterback. He's topped 200 yards just once this season and hasn't scored multiple touchdowns since Week 11. Fantasy managers in 2QB or Superflex formats can get away with starting DeVito, but he should be left on the waiver wire in any other format.

  • Tommy DeVito Throws For Touchdown, Adds 71 Yards On The Ground

    Headshot for Tommy DeVito

New York Giants quarterback Tommy Devito picked up another win as a starter on Monday Night Football, throwing for 158 yards and a touchdown, plus 71 rushing yards on 10 carries. The Giants led for the majority of the second half until just over a minute and a half remaining in the game. The undrafted rookie then led a game-winning field goal drive. The legend of DeVito grows game by game. Still, the story is more about his grittiness and finding ways to win, rather than outrageous stat lines. 150 passing yards and one score won't move the needle for fantasy managers. DeVito will still be outside the QB2 range when the Giants visit the Saints on Sunday.

  • Tommy DeVito Earns Another Start, Not A Great Fantasy Option

    Headshot for Tommy DeVito

New York Giants quarterback Tommy Devito played well enough to earn another start in Week 14 against the Green Bay Packers, despite a return to practice for veteran Tyrod Taylor (ribs). In a lost season, the Giants coaching staff is opting to see if they have a future backup quarterback on their roster in DeVito. The undrafted rookie is 2-1 in his three starts but wins don't translate into success for fantasy football. Only against Washington, the worst defense against fantasy quarterbacks, has DeVito topped 200 yards and two scores. It's also the only start in which he didn't log a turnover. Expect some more mistakes in the primetime lights of Monday Night Football. DeVito is outside of the top 24 in the rankings this week and should only be considered in 2QB leagues.

  • Tommy DeVito To Start In Week 14

    Headshot for Tommy DeVito

New York Giants rookie quarterback Tommy Devito will make another start in Week 14 on Monday Night Football against the Green Bay Packers, head coach Brian Daboll announced on Tuesday. The Giants had their bye in Week 13 and veteran Tyrod Taylor (ribs) was designated to return from Injured Reserve on Monday, but the G-Men are going to ride DeVito for at least one more game. The 25-year-old has gone 49-for-78 for 523 yards, six touchdowns and one interception as the fill-in for Daniel Jones (knee), who is done for the rest of the year after tearing his ACL. DeVito has also added 13 carries for 54 yards and a lost fumble. He'll remain a desperation low-end QB2 in superflex leagues against a Packers team that is coming off a big win over the defending Super Bowl-champion Kansas City Chiefs.
