Colts Release RB Deon Jackson

The Colts are moving on from a Week 1 starter. The team is releasing running back Deon Jackson, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. The Colts are filling the open roster spot with running back Trey Sermon, who will be promoted from the practice squad to the active roster. [RELATED: Colts Add RB Trey Sermon […]

The Jonathan Taylor drama has quieted down a bit since the start of the season, but by no means does that mean it isn’t there. After failing to both 1) reach a long-term agreement with Taylor and 2) find a viable trade partner willing to meet their price for Taylor, the Colts placed him on […]

Unavailability has been a constant in the Colts’ backfield, which remains without Jonathan Taylor. The team also lost Zack Moss to a broken arm during training camp. While Moss is back, one of Indianapolis’ other backups is not expected to return this season. Placed on IR last week, Evan Hull is likely to see his […]
Sep 21 · Pro Football Rumors Colts Evan HullEvan Hull Will Miss Rest Of The Season

Indianapolis Colts rookie running back Evan Hull (knee), who was already placed on Injured Reserve, will now miss the rest of his first NFL season with a torn meniscus. The Colts were impressed with Hull when he was on the field and they still have high hopes for him in the future. The fifth-round selection had just one carry for one yard and caught one pass for a six-yard gain in the season opener over eight offensive snaps. The Colts still have Jonathan Taylor (ankle) on the Physically Unable to Perform list for at least two more games, but they added Trey Sermon to their practice squad earlier this week to give them more RB depth behind Zack Moss, Deon Jackson and Jake Funk. Hull is only worth stashing in deep dynasty/keeper leagues.

Colts In Communication With RBs Kareem Hunt, Leonard Fournette

With their Jonathan Taylor-less backfield still in flux due to injuries, the Colts remain interested in a free agent addition at the running back spot. As a result, they are in talks with two of the top options still available. Indianapolis has communicated with both Kareem Hunt and Leonard Fournette, reports ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. The former met with the […]
Sep 15 · Pro Football Rumors Colts Leonard Fournette Evan Hull Kareem Hunt Zack Moss Jonathan TaylorEvan Hull Expected To Return This Season

Indianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steichen said the team expects rookie running back Evan Hull (knee) to be back at some point this season. Hull suffered a knee injury in his NFL debut in the Week 1 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars and was put on Injured Reserve this week, meaning he'll have to miss at least the next four games. The 22-year-old fifth-round selection had a chance to see passing-game work early in his rookie campaign with both Zack Moss (forearm) and Jonathan Taylor (ankle) also injured, but he won't be able to take advantage of that opportunity now. Moss is expected to make his season debut this Sunday against the Houston Texans, and Taylor should also be back for the Colts backfield before Hull is able to return.

Colts Place RB Evan Hull On IR, Add G Ike Boettger; Team Worked Out RB Darrell Henderson

The Colts’ changes at running back continued Tuesday. Rookie Evan Hull is now on IR, and Jake Funk will replace him on the 53-man roster. Hull went down with a knee injury in Week 1. In addition to the running back switch, the Colts added veteran guard Ike Boettger to their practice squad. The team […]
Sep 12 · Pro Football Rumors Colts Darrell Henderson Evan HullEvan Hull Lands On Injured Reserve

The Indianapolis Colts placed rookie running back Evan Hull (knee) on Injured Reserve on Tuesday and signed running back Jake Funk to the 53-man roster from the practice squad in a corresponding move. Hull had just one carry for one yard and had a six-yard reception in his NFL debut in the Week 1 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars before getting injured. The fifth-rounder will now have to miss at least the next four games. Jonathan Taylor (ankle) is on the Physically Unable to Perform list and won't be eligible to return until Week 5. Zack Moss (forearm) missed Week 1 but could return this Sunday against the Houston Texans. Moss will be Indy's starter until Taylor returns, with Deon Jackson also getting some run out of the backfield.

Evan Hull Could Miss Some Time

Indianapolis Colts running back Evan Hull (knee) suffered a knee injury in the Week 1 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The injury is disappointing considering it was his NFL debut, and Colts head coach Shane Steichen said the rookie "could miss some time" moving forward. The team is already without Jonathan Taylor (ankle) for at least the next three games and is hoping to get back Zack Moss (hand) as soon as possible. If both Moss and Hull are out against the Houston Texans in Week 2, Jake Funk will likely serve as Deon Jackson's backup. He will have limited fantasy value.

Evan Hull Ruled Out With Knee Injury

Indianapolis Colts running back Evan Hull (knee) has been ruled out for the remainder of Week 1. The rookie exited the contest after recording just seven scrimmage yards on the first two touches of his career. The Colts are hurting at running back with Jonathan Taylor (ankle), Zack Moss (arm), and Hull all sidelined. The team will proceed with a backfield of just Deon Jackson and Jake Funk for the time being.

Offseason In Review: Indianapolis Colts

The Colts’ stunning 2021 season-ender in Jacksonville seems does not exactly seem like it occurred 20 months ago. So much has changed since. Although the batch of Pro Bowlers (minus one well-documented exception) from that talented team remains ahead of the 2023 season, they have observed a chaotic overhaul in the time since that crushing […]

With Jonathan Taylor sitting on the reserve/PUP list for at least the first four games of the 2023 campaign, the Colts backfield is plenty uncertain heading into Week 1. Sep 6 · Pro Football Rumors Colts Evan Hull Deon Jackson Zack Moss James Robinson Jonathan Taylor"Hot Hand" Approach In Indianapolis Could Benefit Evan Hull

With Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor (ankle) on the PUP list, head coach Shane Steichen suggested that whoever has the "hot hand" will continue to receive work. This will be a running back-by-committee approach to begin the season. Second-string runner Zack Moss (arm) is still a question mark for Week 1 as he recovers from a broken arm. Deon Jackson will likely get the start against Jacksonville, with Evan Hull mixing in. The rookie is the favorite to operate as the third-down back (he led college football in catches and receiving yards among running backs last season). With the Jaguars coming in as five-point road favorites, the Colts could be playing from behind with Hull in the backfield.

Evan Hull To Be Part Of Early Running Back Mix

The Indianapolis Colts don't really have any notable options behind running back Jonathan Taylor (ankle), who will miss the first four regular season games while on the Physically Unable to Perform list. Zack Moss (arm) is the likely starter in Taylor's absence, but he might not be ready for Week 1 due to a broken arm. Deon Jackson started two of the three preseason games, but rookie fifth-rounder Evan Hull will likely be in the mix in the early going as well. The 22-year-old could be involved in some sort of committee in Indy until Taylor makes hi season debut. Hull is most likely to operate as the third-down back, which makes him worth a late-round flier in the deepest of PPR fantasy leagues.

Indianapolis Colts running back Zack Moss suffered a broken arm on Monday, while star running back Jonathan Taylor (ankle) is feuding with Colts owner Jim Irsay. To add depth to the position, the team signed former Indianapolis University running back Toriano Clinton. The undrafted rookie posted 4,538 rushing yards and 48 rushing touchdowns on 593 attempts in five collegiate seasons. While his name won't be on the fantasy radar for now, it wouldn't be all that surprising if he climbs the depth chart in Moss' and Taylor's absence. For now, Deon Jackson and fifth-round rookie Evan Hull will likely operate as the team's top two running backs.
