  • Zach Charbonnet Ready For More Work In Week 4

    Headshot for Zach Charbonnet

Fantasy managers are still awaiting Zach Charbonnet's big breakout but in Week 3 the rookie running back gave us a taste of what is to come. The second-round pick had the most productive day of his young career against the Carolina Panthers last Sunday, toting the ball nine times for 46 yards. The line was modest but it was underscored by his snap share which leaped to 44%, nearly matching Kenneth Walker III's 49% share. In Week 4, the Seahawks head to New York to face the Giants, who are giving up 101 rushing yards per game. Charbonnet's stock is rising but he still projects as an RB4 in Week 4, though he may benefit most if the game against the struggling Giants turns into a blowout. He can be started in deep league formats but should be treated as a bench stash in 10- and 12-team leagues.

  • Zach Charbonnet Third On Seahawks Depth Chart

    Headshot for Zach Charbonnet

Second-round draft pick Zach Charbonnet will make his regular-season debut when the Seattle Seahawks take on the Los Angeles Rams on September 10. The UCLA standout was drafted by the Seahawks on the heels of Kenneth Walker III's 1000-yard rookie season, putting Seattle's depth chart under scrutiny throughout the preseason. Walker was a limited participant in preseason activities thanks to a lingering groin injury, which added to the speculation that Charbonnet would be challenging for the primary role. Walker was cleared from the Seahawks' injury report on Friday and is expected to play in the season opener on Sunday, with DeeJay Dallas second on the team's depth chart. With Charbonnet's upside suddenly curbed, fantasy managers should scale back expectations if they choose to start him in Week 1.

  • Offseason In Review: Seattle Seahawks

    Headshot for Jamal Adams

Life after Russell Wilson began for the Seahawks in 2022, a season in which very little was expected of the team. Rather than setting upon a long-term organizational reset, however, Seattle remained competitive in large part due to the surprising success Geno Smith found in his latest opportunity to serve as an NFL starter. The […]

  • Zach Charbonnet's Specific Role Remains Unclear

    Headshot for Zach Charbonnet

Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III is the team's clear RB1 entering the 2023 regular season. But The Athletic's Michael-Shawn Dugar writes that it remains unclear whether rookie Zach Charbonnet -- the 52nd overall pick in this year's draft -- will be a true 1B to Walker's 1A or a legitimate backup that only enters the game when Walker is tired or injured. Until we know more about Seattle's backfield usage, fantasy managers should consider Walker a low-end RB1/high-end RB2 play and Charbonnet more of an RB3/4 option in Week 1 against the division-rival Los Angeles Rams. It's worth noting that Walker had more than half of Seattle's designed rushing attempts as a rookie in 2022, and he didn't even earn the starting gig until Week 6.

Seattle’s running back depth chart saw a number of changes this offseason with former former first-rounder Rashaad Penny and special teamer Travis Homer each departing in free agency. Their absences will be filled in large part by a pair of rookies. Despite having 2022 Offensive Rookie of the Year runner up Kenneth Walker in the fold, Seattle elected to use […]

  • Kenneth Walker III Listed As Starting RB

    Headshot for Ken Walker III

Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III is listed as the team's starting running back on the first depth chart entering the 2023 regular season. It shouldn't come as much of a surprise, although he was dealing with a groin injury early on in training camp. Rookie Zach Charbonnet is a threat to steal touches away from Walker in 2023, but as long as Walker remains healthy, he'll be Seattle's go-to back. The former second-round last year was extremely impressive in his first NFL campaign, taking 228 carries for 1,050 yards and nine touchdowns while adding 27 receptions for 165 additional yards in 15 games (11 starts). In a Seattle offense that can put up plenty of points, Walker is a high-end RB2 for fantasy managers.

  • Zach Charbonnet Makes Preseason Debut

    Headshot for Zach Charbonnet

Seattle Seahawks rookie running back Zach Charbonnet got into Thursday's game against the Minnesota Vikings as a substitute. The second-round draft pick had 28 total yards on six touches against the Vikings and made a key recovery of quarterback Drew Lock's fumble at Seattle's six-yard line near the end of the first half. His longest gain of the day was a nine-yard run, part of a second-quarter drive that culminated in a Seahawks touchdown. Charbonnet is expected to start the season behind Kenneth Walker on the Seahawks' depth chart, but given coach Pete Carroll's tendencies, no running back's role can be guaranteed. With a strong showing in his remaining preseason contests, Charbonnet can force a timeshare sooner than expected.

  • Zach Charbonnet Returns To Practice Thursday

    Headshot for Zach Charbonnet

Seattle Seahawks rookie running back Zach Charbonnet (shoulder) returned to Thursday's practice at training camp. The rookie from UCLA was banged up last weekend and was expected to miss significant time, but he missed just three practices. Fellow running back Kenneth Walker III is dealing with a groin injury, so the Charbonnet, Kenny McIntosh, and DeeJay Dallas should see additional work until he returns. Charbonnet is an intriguing running back handcuff in PPR formats thanks to his receiving skill set.

  • Zach Charbonnet Out Indefinitely

    Headshot for Zach Charbonnet

Seattle Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet (shoulder) is expected to miss significant time after suffering an injury during practice. The team announced that Charbonnet is out indefinitely after suffering a shoulder injury. That's a shame as the second-round pick was expected to have a legitimate role to begin the season. The Seahawks are also without Kenneth Walker III (groin) right now. That means, DeeJay Dallas and Kenny McIntosh are going to get a majority of the reps in the backfield right now. Fantasy managers will have to check back for another update on Charbonnet's status, but his stock will certainly take a hit because of this.

  • Zach Charbonnet Signs Rookie Deal

    Headshot for Zach Charbonnet

The Seattle Seahawks signed rookie running back Zach Charbonnet to his four-year rookie deal on Tuesday. Charbonnet was drafted in the second round of the 2023 rookie draft and is expected to push for a role behind Kenneth Walker III in the upcoming season. The Seahawks also waived defensive backs James Campbell and Isaiah Dunn and linebacker Alton Robinson on Tuesday. Charbonnet is worth a look as a late-round flier at the running back position in redraft leagues for the upcoming season.
