  • Breece Hall Doing Work On The Side At OTAs

    Headshot for Israel Abanikanda

Updating a previous report, New York Jets running back Breece Hall (knee) was seen doing side sprints on a side field at OTAs, which is a good sign for his recovery seven months after he suffered a torn ACL. Hall rushed 80 times for 463 yards (5.8 YPC) and four scores and caught 19 passes for 218 yards and one touchdown before the major knee injury in Week 7 against the Denver Broncos ended his rookie campaign. The team has publicly stated he could be back for Week 1 of the 2023 season, but it's too early to know if that will be the case. If he does miss time, Michael Carter, Israel Abanikanda, and Zonovan Knight will all get an opportunity to see work in the New York offense led by new quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

  • Jets Fortify Backfield With Israel Abanikanda

    Headshot for Israel Abanikanda

The New York Jets selected Pittsburgh running back Israel Abanikanda with the 143rd overall pick in the NFL Draft. He didn't play much during his freshman year, but the runner rose to prominence in 2021, recording 651 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. Abanikanda completely broke out in 2022 by amassing 1431 rushing yards and 21 scores at Pittsburgh. The 20-year-old has dynamic potential, but his small hands could lead to costly drops. Abanikanda garners attention, anyway, towards the end of fantasy drafts as a sleeper in hopes he carves out a role with New York. His fantasy stock may rise early in the year depending on the availability of Breece Hall (knee). Abanikanda's explosiveness could reasonably see him supplant Zonovan Knight and Michael Carter for backfield touches on the Jets at some point.

  • Israel Abanikanda Impresses At Pro Day

    Headshot for Israel Abanikanda

University of Pittsburgh running back Israel Abanikanda is a sleeper to watch at running back for the upcoming 2023 NFL Draft. Abanikanda rushed 239 times for 1,431 yards (6.0 YPC) during his junior season at Pitt. At his Pro Day, he ran a 4.41 40-yard-dash time at 216 pounds. The 20-year-old running back set a single-game program rushing record when he rushed for 320 yards against Virginia Tech, eclipsing Tony Dorsett's 303-yard day. He presents a rare mix of size and speed and could be a valuable piece of an NFL offense in 2023. If he's drafted before the fourth-round in April, he'll be a riser in 2023 dynasty rookie drafts.
