De'Von Achane Looks For Encore On Sunday

Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane took the league by storm in Week 3 with an otherworldly 233-yard, four-touchdown showcase. Week 4's top waiver add is sure to be immediately shoved into fantasy lineups by many managers, and the 21-year-old slots in as a realistic RB3 with RB2 upside in a potentially high-scoring environment against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. Buffalo has surrendered the seventh-most receiving yards to RBs (121) in its first three games, which could work to Achane's advantage as a pass catcher. We should still temper expectations based on last Sunday's outburst and the rookie's likely lesser role alongside TD leader and fantasy's overall RB1, Raheem Mostert. Achane should be treated as an instant top-24 play in the backfield's 1B role rather than a backup, however, with gobs of upside despite a prospective workload south of 15 touches.

Pickups: De'Von Achane, Tank Dell highlight Week 4

Eric Moody takes a look at the under-rostered players who should be added to your fantasy roster ahead of Week 4, including De'Von Achane.
Sep 25 · ESPN Texans Tank Dell Devon AchaneDe'Von Achane Puts Together An Extraordinary Performance

Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane went from getting only one carry in Week 2 to leading the team in carries and yards in Week 3. The rookie posted an insane 203 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries while adding 30 yards and two more touchdowns on four catches. His biggest highlight was a 67-yard touchdown run where he outran the entire defense right up the middle. He was involved in every facet of the offense and could possibly turn this huge day into more opportunities down the road. The Buffalo Bills will present a tougher matchup in Week 4, but fantasy managers will want to monitor how many touches he gets in the weeks to come.

De'Von Achane Could Be Primary Backup

Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane could be looking at a bigger role heading into the Week 3 matchup against the Denver Broncos. The rookie back sat out Week 1 to fully recover from a preseason injury. He made his NFL debut last week, but played in a limited role. The expectation is that Achane will have larger role this week with the backfield banged up. Raheem Mostert will be the starter, while his primary backup in Salvon Ahmed (groin) is unlikely to play. That means, Achane could step into the No. 2 role for this upcoming game. It would likely lead to increased snaps and hopefully some streaming appeal. However, Mostert will handle a majority of the snaps, so Achane would mainly be a deep league option, assuming he serves as the primary backup.

De'Von Achane Not On The Week 2 Injury Report

Miami Dolphins rookie running back De'Von Achane (shoulder) practiced in full all week and was removed from the final Week 2 injury report on Friday. Achane wasn't on last week's injury report either, but he still wasn't active for the Week 1 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers. It remains to be seen if the 21-year-old will be active for his NFL debut on Sunday night against the division-rival New England Patriots, and if he is, he'll merely be looking for scraps behind starter Raheem Mostert and Salvon Ahmed in Miami's backfield. Ahmed played just 29 percent of the offensive snaps last week behind Mostert and had three touches.

De'Von Achane Officially Inactive For Week 1

Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane (shoulder) is officially inactive for Week 1 against the Los Angeles Chargers. While Achane was removed from the injury report on Friday, the rookie was not expected to have a major role in the season opener. As it turns out, he's inactive altogether. Raheem Mostert will operate as Miami's lead back, ranking as a high-end RB3/FLEX play. He should be started in most leagues. Salvon Ahmed will also earn touches and could be a solid FLEX option in deeper formats. Chris Brooks rounds out the backfield but isn't currently on the fantasy radar.

De'Von Achane Not Expected To Play Sunday

Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane (shoulder) is not expected to play in Week 1 against the Los Angeles Chargers, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. While Achane was removed from the injury report on Friday, the rookie is expected to be inactive due to "rust" accrued while missing a portion of his first training camp. Raheem Mostert will operate as Miami's lead back, ranking as a high-end RB3/FLEX play. He should be started in most leagues. Salvon Ahmed will also earn touches and could be a solid FLEX option in deeper formats.

Offseason In Review: Miami Dolphins

Following a busy offseason in 2022, the Dolphins didn’t take nearly as many swings in 2023. It’s hard to blame them. The front office didn’t have to make up for any mistakes from last spring, as the team’s major acquisitions (receiver Tyreek Hill and offensive tackle Terron Armstead) both proved to be worth the investment. […]

Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane (shoulder) should be left on the bench in most fantasy leagues as he gears up for his NFL debut versus the Los Angeles Chargers. While Achane has earned significant hype and is a glaring dynasty "buy," there's less optimism about his immediate value and production. Miami is expected to phase Achane into action, and there's a very real chance that he ranks third in the pecking order behind both Raheem Mostert and Salvon Ahmed this week.

De'Von Achane A Full Practice Participant

Miami Dolphins running backs De'Von Achane (shoulder) and Salvon Ahmed (back) were both full participants in practice on Wednesday. Achane ditched his non-contact jersey at practice on Monday and is now practicing in full, suggesting that the rookie will be active for his first NFL game on Sunday in Week 1 against the Los Angeles Chargers. The 21-year-old has the opportunity for an elevated role early in his rookie season with Jeff Wilson Jr. (abdomen, finger) out for the first four games, but he'll merely be competing for complementary work with Ahmed behind clear-cut RB1 Raheem Mostert. Achane is worth stashing for RB depth to open the year, but he's not a recommended flex play in shallow formats since his role behind Mostert is very unclear.

De'Von Achane Listed Third On RB Depth Chart

Miami Dolphins rookie running back De'Von Achane is listed third on the team's unofficial depth chart heading into Week 1 of the regular season against the Los Angeles Chargers, behind both Raheem Mostert and Salvon Ahmed. As usual with NFL depth charts, fantasy managers should take them with a grain of salt, so this doesn't necessarily mean that Ahmed will see more work in the regular season opener this Sunday over Achane. The 21-year-old back did miss some valuable time in training camp with a shoulder injury, but he also shed his non-contact jersey at practice earlier this week and should be active this weekend. With Jeff Wilson Jr. (abdomen, finger) missing the first four games of the year, Mostert is Miami's clear-cut RB1.

De'Von Achane Expected To Practice Monday

Miami Dolphins rookie running back De'Von Achane (shoulder) is expected to practice on Monday. Achane was in a non-contact jersey last week due to a shoulder injury that he suffered on Aug. 19 in the team's second preseason game. The 21-year-old was expected to return to practice this week, though, which puts him on track to be ready for Week 1 against the Los Angeles Chargers. And with Jeff Wilson Jr. (abdomen) missing the first four games of the year after being put on Injured Reserve, Achane will have an elevated role in the backfield out of the gates behind starter Raheem Mostert. It remains to be seen how big of a role Achane will have behind Mostert in Week 1, but he's certainly worth rostering in most fantasy leagues to open up the 2023 regular season.

Dolphins Expect De'Von Achane To Practice Next Week

Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said that he expects rookie running back De'Von Achane (shoulder) to be ready to practice next week as the team prepares for their Week 1 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. Achane was seen wearing a non-contact jersey at practice on Wednesday, and it looks like the team is taking it slow with the 21-year-old third-rounder heading into the regular season. Raheem Mostert is the starter in this backfield, but Achane just became more interesting as a late-round flier in fantasy drafts with the Dolphins putting Jeff Wilson Jr. (undisclosed) on Injured Reserve on Thursday. Salvon Ahmed (head) is also dealing with an injury, so Miami's backfield is a bit beat up to open the year.

De'Von Achane Listed As Week-To-Week

Miami Dolphins rookie running back De'Von Achane (shoulder) is being considered week-to-week, although he avoided a serious injury after a defensive lineman fell on him during Saturday's preseason game against the Houston Texans, according to head coach Mike McDaniel. It's unlikely that Achane will play in the preseason finale this weekend against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but the 21-year-old third-rounder should have a chance to suit up in Week 1 of the regular season. Achane is an intriguing RB prospect, but it could be difficult for him to carve out a fantasy relevant role in Year 1 behind Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson Jr. The Dolphins also still have Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed in their RB room. Achane is being taken as an RB4/flex in fantasy drafts in Miami's crowded backfield.

De'Von Achane Set For An MRI On Sunday

Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane (shoulder) exited Saturday's meeting with the Houston Texans on a cart. Head coach Mike McDaniel provided an update after the game, reporting that the rookie will undergo an MRI on Sunday to determine the severity of the injury to his shoulder. Achane, a third-round pick in the 2023 Draft, is fighting for a higher spot on the depth chart heading into the regular season. Before his departure, he amassed 27 yards off six carries.

Devon Achane Productive Catching Passes Friday

Miami Dolphins running back Devon Achane totaled 25 rushing yards on a team-leading 10 carries during Friday's preseason opener against the Atlanta Falcons. Despite his relative inefficiency on the ground, the rookie delivered key contributions through the air, racking up four catches and 41 receiving yards. Friday's game showed that Achane can be a versatile playmaker for this Miami offense and has a chance to earn meaningful touches in 2023. He's a solid mid-round option in fantasy football drafts given the fact that he could quickly earn significant volume with the Dolphins.

De'Von Achane Returns To Tuesday's Practice

Miami Dolphins rookie running back De'Von Achane (undisclosed) has returned to the practice field. The speedster only missed a couple of days of practice after sustaining the injury Saturday. The undersized 21-year-old is impressing coaches with his world-class speed, but he'll still have to work for touches in a crowded backfield. Veterans Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson Jr. will have a role, and the team has been potentially linked to free agent Dalvin Cook. The rookie is likely to deliver big plays this season, making him worthy of a late-round flier in fantasy drafts.

De'Von Achane Dealing With Injury

Miami Dolphins rookie running back De'Von Achane (undisclosed) is not practicing at training camp on Saturday and appears to be walking very gingerly. He is doing some rehab work on the side. It remains to be seen what exactly Achane is dealing with, but consider him day-to-day for now. The 21-year-old is pretty undersized at his position, but he impressed the coaching staff during offseason workouts for his explosiveness out of the backfield. The third-round selection will have his work cut out for him as he competes for touches in his first NFL season behind Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson Jr.. A relevant role in Miami's backfield will be even harder to come by if the Dolphins sign free-agent RB Dalvin Cook. Achane is worth a late-round flier in fantasy drafts for his big-play ability in PPR leagues or as a handcuff for Mostert/Wilson.
