Latest On Rams, RB Cam Akers

Cam Akers found himself a healthy scratch in Week 2, and his tenure with the Rams is once again in question. When asked about the situation, head coach Sean McVay confirmed the team is still exploring all options with respect to keeping or trading its former lead running back. A report from Sunday indicated the Rams are again […]
Sep 18 · Pro Football Rumors Rams Cam Akers Zach Evans Royce Freeman Ronnie Rivers Kyren WilliamsZach Evans Makes Initial Roster

Los Angeles Rams running back Zach Evans appears to have a spot on the 53-man roster. The rookie is one of four backs to make the opening week roster. However, Cam Akers and Kyren Williams appear to have the first two spots on the depth chart locked up. That means, Evans will be competing with Ronnie Rivers for the No. 3 spot in the backfield. That being said, neither back is likely to have much of a role behind Akers and Williams. Evans is worth a stash in dynasty formats due to his potential. The sixth-round back probably won't have a big role right away.

Los Angeles Rams running back Zach Evans did not show many flashes in Saturday's 41-0 loss to the Denver Broncos. The sixth-round rookie back had seven carries for 23 yards while hauling in his lone target for six yards. Cam Akers and Kyren Williams did not play in the preseason, making them the clear top two running backs heading into the season. Ronnie Rivers is also comfortably ahead of Evans. The rookie out of Ole Miss should still make the 53-man roster and will look to climb up the depth chart as the season progresses.

Zach Evans Quiet In Preseason Loss To Raiders

Los Angeles Rams running back Zach Evans did not show much in Saturday's 34-17 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. Evans ran for 20 yards on eight carries while catching his lone target for seven yards. Considering the circumstances, this was a good day, but it is worth noting that Evans played behind Ronnie Rivers and Royce Freeman during this game. The sixth-round rookie running back out of Ole Miss showed his efficiency in college and will look to return to that as he is battling for the RB3 spot on the team.

Ronnie Rivers Leads Rams In Rushing In Preseason Loss

Los Angeles Rams running back Ronnie Rivers started in Saturday's 34-17 preseason loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. He was efficient once again. Rivers carried the ball nine times for 42 yards, coming off a game where he had six carries for 31 yards in the team's preseason opener. The 24-year-old has played ahead of both Royce Freeman and Zach Evans throughout those two games. However, Cam Akers and Kyren Williams are comfortably ahead of them, considering they have been inactive for both preseason games. At the very least, the second-year running back will look to continue this level of play and enter the season as the team's RB3.

Ronnie Rivers Gets The Start In Preseason Opener

Los Angeles Rams running back Ronnie Rivers started for the team and had a very solid performance. The undrafted second-year player out of Fresno St. put up 31 rushing yards on just six carries and had an impressive goal line touchdown taken back due to a hold. While the team did sit out their starters, including running backs Cam Akers and Kyren Williams , Rivers still played over Zach Evans and Royce Freeman, which is a positive sign. Rivers will look to continue playing well over the next couple of weeks and try to secure a roster spot ahead of the regular season.

Offseason In Review: Los Angeles Rams

Nothing gold can stay. From Sean McVay‘s 2017 arrival through the 2022 offseason, the Rams treated the football world to a win-now mantra. As draft pick-collecting crusades transpired elsewhere, the Rams’ recovery from a 12-year playoff drought produced two Super Bowl berths and a championship. Evading critics with a George Allen-esque, “eff them picks” M.O. […]
