Fantasy Advice
People are getting very excited about Jahmyr Gibbs and I've seen him pushed into the Top 10 in some RB rankings. Definitely trending up. This offense thought they had \"their Alvin Kamara\" in D'Andre Swift. Maybe they have him now. But it will still be a transition period to get there. Old school coach Dan Campbell will lean on veteran David Montgomery who clearly can handle a big load and be successful behind this offensive line. The Gibbs to Montgomery gap shouldn't be too wide.

Jahmyr Gibbs Looks To Get Back On Track Against Saints

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs was on a hot streak from Week 7 to Week 11, finishing no lower than the weekly RB6 (half-PPR) over a four-game stretch. However, the rookie speedster had a down week against the Green Bay Packers on Thanksgiving, totaling just 9.3 fantasy points. Based on his resume before that, he remains a must-start against the New Orleans Saints in Week 13. It's worth noting David Montgomery (foot) is dealing with a foot injury. There have been no reports that Montgomery is in danger of missing Week 13. If he does, Gibbs has overall RB1 upside. If Montgomery is active, both players have at least RB2 outlooks and RB1 ceilings.

Jahmyr Gibbs Targeted Eight Times In Week 12 Loss

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs rushed 11 times for 54 yards during Thursday's loss to the Green Bay Packers. He was also heavily involved as a receiver, catching four of eight targets for an additional 19 yards through the air. Gibbs' four-game streak of logging 95-plus scrimmage yards came to an end, but he still rewarded fantasy managers in PPR formats by catching four passes. He should continue to be evaluated as a mid-to-low RB2 option in most fantasy football leagues going forward.

Jahmyr Gibbs Has RB1 Outlook On Thanksgiving

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs has exploded on the fantasy football scene over the last month of the season. The rookie runner has averaged 130.5 yards from scrimmage in his last four contests and has found the end zone five times during that stretch. David Montgomery returned in Week 10, but Gibbs has still seen 31 touches over the last two weeks. He is averaging 5.2 yards per carry and has seen no fewer than five targets in each of his last five games. Needless to say, he's a must-start fantasy option in a favorable matchup against the Green Bay Packers in Week 12.

Jahmyr Gibbs Continues To Have RB1 Outlook In Week 11

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs has rushed 51 times for 297 yards and four touchdowns and caught 17 passes for 130 yards over the last three weeks. Even with David Montgomery returning last week from a rib injury, Gibbs totaled over 100 yards and scored two touchdowns. Moving forward, both running backs have become must-starts, especially in a matchup with the Chicago Bears. Chicago has allowed the 12th-most fantasy points per game to ball carriers this season, so it wouldn't be surprising to see both players post RB1 performances for the second consecutive week.

Jahmyr Gibbs Tallies 112 Yards, Two Scores

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs rushed 14 times for 77 yards and two touchdowns and caught three of his five targets for 35 yards in the 41-38 win over the Los Angeles Chargers. David Montgomery returned for this game and posted 116 yards and a touchdown, so both ball-carriers look to have sizable roles in an explosive offense. For now, both running backs are must-start option in fantasy football. Gibbs has a safer PPR floor due to his pass-catching upside. Next up is a matchup with the Chicago Bears. Expect both backs to have plenty of running room in Week 11.

Jahmyr Gibbs Has Contingent Upside In Week 10

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs has a wide range of outcomes in the Week 10 matchup with the Los Angeles Charges. If David Montgomery (ribs) is back in action this week, Gibbs could be pushed back into the clear RB2 role. However, the rookie excelled in his Week 7 and Week 8 starts, posting over 200 yards rushing, nearly 100 yards receiving, and two total touchdowns during that stretch. That said, this could be more of a two-man committee with an even touch distribution upon Montgomery's return. The Chargers have allowed the 13th-most fantasy points per game to running backs this season, so both players are likely worth starting in this spot.

Jahmyr Gibbs Will Continue To Get Touches After David Montgomery Returns

Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery (ribs) is expected to return in Week 10 against the Los Angeles Chargers, but head coach Dan Campbell said earlier this week that rookie Jahmyr Gibbs could see an uptick in the team's backfield rotation in the second half of the year. The No. 12 overall pick in this year's draft set career-highs with 26 carries and 152 rushing yards in the Week 8 win over the Las Vegas Raiders with Monty inactive. Gibbs and Montgomery have played together in only three of the team's eight games in 2023, with Montgomery handling the bulk of the work in those games. However, Gibbs leads the Lions with 399 yards and 5.3 yards per carry and is third on the team with 28 catches. He's averaging 11.7 touches with Monty on the field and 23 touches per game without his teammate. Monty is averaging 24 touches in games both he and Gibbs have played.

David Montgomery, Jahmyr Gibbs To Be Involved In Committee

With Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery (ribs) set to return in Week 10 against the Los Angeles Chargers, head coach Dan Campbell said both Montgomery and rookie first-rounder Jahmyr Gibbs will get plenty of opportunities. Montgomery hasn't played since Week 6, and Gibbs is coming off his best game as a pro. "I don't think, necessarily sitting here talking to you right now, that I see Gibbs getting 65 plays. I don't see that. But he's going to get his fair share now. We know what he can be and he's growing. I think it'll be a little bit by committee and make sure we get those guys their touches. Gibbs will get his touches," Campbell said. Monty was the clear-cut starter for Detroit before his injury and should be the favorite for the majority of touches the rest of the way as long as he's healthy. However, Gibbs' breakout game in Week 8 likely means he'll get closer to an equal workload moving forward.

Jahmyr Gibbs Booms On Monday Night

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs rushed 26 times for 152 yards and a touchdown and caught all five of his targets for 37 yards in the Week 8 Monday Night Football win over the Las Vegas Raiders. It marked the rookie's second straight game with at least 100 scrimmage yards and a touchdown. The 21-year-old has benefited from the absence of David Montgomery (ribs). The Lions head to a bye in Week 9, so fantasy managers of either Lions' running back will have to find a replacement. Although Montgomery could be ready to come back in Week 10, Gibbs should see an uptick in his role after two big performances.

Jahmyr Gibbs Could Be In For Big Game Against Raiders

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs rushed 11 times for 68 yards and a touchdown and caught nine of his ten targets for 58 yards in the absence of David Montgomery (ribs) last week. Montgomery was out of practice on Thursday and Friday, so he is trending toward missing the Monday Night Football contest against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 8. Assuming he's out, Gibbs should assume the RB1 role once again. The Raiders have surrendered the fifth-most fantasy points per game to running backs this season, so Gibbs could be in for a second-straight big fantasy performance.

Jahmyr Gibbs Explodes For 126 Yards, Touchdown

Detroit Lions rookie running back Jahmyr Gibbs rushed 11 times for 68 yards and a touchdown and caught nine of his 10 targets for 58 yards in Week 7. In the absence of David Montgomery (ribs), Gibbs was utilized as a workhorse running back. He benefited from the Lions having to play catchup and going to the air often, as the Lions lost to the Ravens 38-6. The talented rookie flashed his fantasy upside in this spot, but he could be relegated to the clear RB2 role again if Montgomery returns next week. Detroit is set to face the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday Night Football in Week 8. If Montgomery is out for that contest, Gibbs will be a virtual must-start.

Jahmyr Gibbs Will Play And Carry The Load In Week 7

Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell told reporters on Friday that rookie running back Jahmyr Gibbs (hamstring), who has missed the last two games, will play in Week 7 against the Baltimore Ravens. "Certainly I think he's going to need to take the load of (the work).I'd like to say we're going to be careful with him, but the reality is we need him," Campbell said. It's unclear if Gibbs will be removed from the final Week 7 injury report entirely or if he'll receive a questionable tag. Either way, the first-rounder will play and should have an elevated role from what he saw the last time he was active in Week 4 now that David Montgomery (ribs) is out this weekend. With the added touches, Gibbs will have RB2 upside, albeit in a tough matchup on the road.

Jahmyr Gibbs Practicing Again Thursday

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs (hamstring) was among those practicing on Thursday for the Lions for the second straight day. Gibbs has missed the last two games with a hamstring injury, but he's trending in the right direction to be active this Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens. It's good news for the Lions, who have already ruled out David Montgomery (ribs). Craig Reynolds (hamstring, toe) also practiced after missing Wednesday's session, so the Lions may not be in dire straights at the RB position this weekend after all. The 21-year-old first-rounder could be somewhat limited if he's active against Baltimore, but there won't be much competition for touches, giving him some RB2 upside if he returns.

Jahmyr Gibbs Begins Week With Limited Session

Detroit Lions rookie running back Jahmyr Gibbs (hamstring) was a limited participant in practice on Wednesday. Gibbs has missed the last two games with a hamstring and has been a fantasy bust in his first NFL season through the first six weeks of 2023. However, the 21-year-old first-rounder will have the opportunity to see the lion's share of the backfield work if he's able to play in Week 7 against the Baltimore Ravens with David Montgomery (ribs) expected to miss some time. Craig Reynolds (hamstring, toe) is also looking questionable to play this weekend. As of right now, Gibbs is trending in the right direction for Week 7. He'll have clear RB2 upside if he's active against the Ravens for the volume alone.

Lions Re-Sign Mohamed Ibrahim To Practice Squad

The Detroit Lions re-signed running back Mohamed Ibrahim to their practice squad on Tuesday, according to his agent. Lead back David Montgomery (ribs) was forced out of the Week 6 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and is expected to miss some time. Meanwhile, rookie first-round running back Jahmyr Gibbs (hamstring) has missed the last two games due to injury. Craig Reynolds was forced into the featured backfield role on Sunday once Montgomery was injured, so Detroit's backfield is pretty thin heading into a Week 7 contest against the Ravens in Baltimore this Sunday. Gibbs is trending in the right direction this weekend, but if he misses a third straight game, Reynolds would be the Lions' primary RB. Along with Ibrahim, the team also has Devine Ozigbo on their practice squad.

Oct 16 · Pro Football Rumors Detroit Lions Jahmyr Gibbs David Montgomery Craig ReynoldsJahmyr Gibbs Trending In The Right Direction

Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell said that rookie running back Jahmyr Gibbs (hamstring) is trending in the right direction to play in Week 7 against the Baltimore Ravens. Meanwhile, David Montgomery (ribs) will be out for "a little bit" after suffering a cartilage issue in his ribs in the Week 6 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Gibbs has missed the last two games with a hamstring injury he suffered in practice before Week 5. When Montgomery was injured on Sunday, Craig Reynolds became Detroit's lead back, but he gained just 15 yards on 10 rushing attempts. The 21-year-old Gibbs has been a fantasy bust so far early in his NFL career, but he should see a heavy workload in the backfield if he returns to face Baltimore this Sunday. If Gibbs is a full-go this weekend with Monty out, he will basically be a must-start in fantasy lineups.

Jahmyr Gibbs Won't Suit Up Again

Detroit Lions rookie running back Jahmyr Gibbs (hamstring) has officially been ruled out of Sunday's contest against the Buccaneers. The rookie has taken a back seat to David Montgomery in every game that both of them have been active for, but with Gibbs sitting out another game, Montgomery's value increases even more. Without the necessary opportunities, Gibbs hasn't been able to fulfill his potential just yet. Until he wins over the coaching staff a little more or Montgomery can't suit up, Gibbs' ceiling will be limited. His next chance to play will be against the Ravens in Week 7.

Jahmyr Gibbs Still Not Practicing

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs (hamstring) is not practicing for the second consecutive day ahead of the team's Week 6 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Gibbs strained a hamstring in practice last week and missed the Lions' Week 5 victory over the Carolina Panthers as a result. The rookie has not been given the workload that fantasy managers who drafted him at his ADP had hoped for, having seen a 36% snap share in the first four weeks of the season. It is now clear that Gibbs is second in line behind surprise workhorse David Montgomery. Gibbs is currently listed as questionable on the Lions' injury report.

Jahmyr Gibbs Considered Day-To-Day

Detroit Lions rookie running back Jahmyr Gibbs (hamstring) is being considered day-to-day heading into a Week 6 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It remains to be seen if Gibbs will get on the practice field for the team's first official session of the week on Wednesday. The first-rounder was added to the injury report late last week and was inactive in the Week 5 win over the Carolina Panthers. Until we know more about his progress, fantasy managers should consider him very questionable to play this Sunday on the road in Tampa. Gibbs has so far been a fantasy bust in his first year in the NFL, and it was clear in Week 4 that David Montgomery is the Lions' backfield leader. If Gibbs misses another game, Monty will once again be a strong QB1 play in all fantasy lineups.

Jahmyr Gibbs, Amon-Ra St. Brown Officially Inactive Sunday

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs (hamstring) and wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown (abdomen) are officially inactive for Week 5 versus the Carolina Panthers. Both players had been listed as doubtful, so their absences come as no surprise. David Montgomery will continue to handle lead-back duties with Gibbs sidelined and could be in line for 25 to 30 touches on Sunday. He should be started in all fantasy leagues. Meanwhile, St. Brown being inactive will leave more opportunities for Josh Reynolds, Kalif Raymond, and Jameson Williams. Of the bunch, Reynolds has the most fantasy appeal and is a solid FLEX play this week.

Jahmyr Gibbs Not Expected To Suit Up On Sunday

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs (hamstring) is not expected to play in Sunday's matchup against the Panthers. The rookie ended up on the injury report on Friday because of a hamstring issue, so now fantasy managers are left wondering if he'll miss more time beyond Week 5. At any rate, David Montgomery, coming off a three-touchdown performance versus the Packers in Week 4, should get plenty of work, considering Amon-Ra St. Brown (abdomen) is also anticipated to sit out on Sunday. In addition, Craig Reynolds could see extra reps in relief of Montgomery, making him a risky flex option for those needing to fill a roster spot.

Jahmyr Gibbs Now Doubtful For Week 5

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs (hamstring) is doubtful to play in Sunday's meeting with the Panthers. The rookie is dealing with a hamstring issue, although he didn't show up on the injury report until Friday. The Lions are banged up entering Week 5, as Amon-Ra St. Brown (abdomen) is unlikely to suit up. At the same time, Josh Reynolds (groin) carries a questionable designation. That said, David Montgomery, who had three rushing touchdowns versus the Packers in Week 4, should remain heavily involved against a Panthers defense that's struggled in 2022-23. In addition, Craig Reynolds could log more touches than usual, giving him a small upside for desperate fantasy managers.

Jahmyr Gibbs Added To Injury Report, Questionable For Week 5

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs (hamstring) was added to the injury report on Friday after practicing in a limited capacity. He is officially listed as questionable for Week 5 versus the Carolina Panthers. It remains to be seen whether Gibbs' injury is minor or if he suffered an ailment of greater severity on Friday. For now, fantasy managers should treat him as a true game-time decision. If Gibbs does play Sunday, he'll rank as a mid-range RB3.

Jahmyr Gibbs Has Low Floor Against Panthers

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs saw workhorse usage against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 3, but that was in the absence of David Montgomery (thigh). Montgomery returned in Week 4 and immediately took over the backfield, rushing 32 times for 121 yards and three touchdowns. Gibbs handled just 12 touches for 51 yards. The rookie is proving to be an efficient ball carrier and solid receiver, but until his role in the high-powered Lions' offense increases, he'll have a low floor in fantasy football. That said, the Carolina Panthers have allowed the fourth-most fantasy points to running backs this season, so he and Montgomery could both have solid fantasy outings. Gibbs is risky in Week 5, but there is upside in this spot.

Jahmyr Gibbs Takes Back Seat To David Montgomery Again

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs rushed eight times for 40 yards and caught four of his five targets for 11 yards in the win over the Green Bay Packers. With David Montgomery active, he was once again relegated to a limited workload. The talented rookie running back is becoming a frustrating fantasy asset after failing to deliver a respectable fantasy outing through four weeks. His role could grow later in the season, but for now, he should be viewed as a shaky flex play with some PPR upside.

Jahmyr Gibbs Could Be In Line For Big Workload

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs handled 18 touches last week in the absence of David Montgomery (thigh). He turned 17 carries into 80 yards and one reception into two yards. It wasn't a massive fantasy performance, but it was promising to see him operate as a workhorse, despite speculation that Craig Reynolds could eat into his workload significantly. If Montgomery, who is questionable against the Green Packers, misses Week 4, Gibbs is a must-start in all formats based on his projected touch total. The Packers have allowed the 11th-most fantasy points to running back thus far, so Gibbs would have RB1 upside. If Montgomery plays and sees a normal workload, Gibbs becomes a risky flex option once again.

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs rushed 17 times for 80 yards and caught one of his two targets for two yards in the Week 3 win over the Atlanta Falcons. It was nice to see the rookie get a healthy workload, but it was ultimately a disappointing fantasy outing in the absence of David Montgomery (thigh). If Montgomery doesn't play on Thursday night against the Green Bay Packers, Gibbs will have plenty of upside. Hopefully, he'll get more involved in the team's passing game.

Jahmyr Gibbs To Receive Bulk Of Touches In Week 3

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs is expected to operate as the team's top rusher versus the Atlanta Falcons. While Craig Reynolds should see additional opportunities in David Montgomery's (thigh) absence, "Gibbs will receive the bulk of the carries," according to a post from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Jahmyr Gibbs Could Be In For Big Game Against Falcons

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs has rushed 14 times for 59 yards and caught nine passes on 11 targets for 57 yards in his first two NFL games. His usage is expected to see an uptick as the season progresses, and with David Montgomery (thigh) looking doubtful to play against the Atlanta Falcons, this could be the spot for him to produce a boom performance. The rookie should see the majority of touches if Montgomery is on the shelf, so he would become a virtual must-start option. Craig Reynolds would likely mix in on early downs, though. If Montgomery surprisingly plays, Gibbs will continue to have low-end PPR league flex value.

Jahmyr Gibbs Draws Nine Targets In Loss

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs rushed seven times for 17 yards and caught seven of his nine targets for 39 yards in the overtime loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Fellow running back David Montgomery (thigh) left the game early, setting up Gibbs to play the majority of passing downs. The rookie's stat line did not help fantasy managers in standard leagues, but his seven receptions were enough to make him a decent play in PPR formats. If Montgomery has to miss time moving forward, he should see his role increase dramatically. It's worth noting Craig Reynolds could see touches alongside him.

Lions To Increase Jahmyr Gibbs' Touches In Week 2

Detroit Lions rookie first-round running back Jahmyr Gibbs had just nine touches and 19 offensive snaps in his NFL debut in last Thursday night's win over the Kansas City Chiefs, but he was able to force six missed tackles and is in line to see increased reps in Week 2 against the Seattle Seahawks. Head coach Dan Campbell said the team limited Gibbs in his debut because they didn't want to overload him or any other first-year players on the road in KC. With more snaps for Gibbs, it will mean that both he and David Montgomery are on the field together. The 21-year-old's versatility in both the run and pass game really makes him intriguing to the Lions and fantasy managers. Gibbs averaged six yards per carry on his seven attempts in Week 1 and should be considered a high-end RB2 in fantasy lineups this Sunday.

It's worth noting he slipped on a play that looked like it could have been a rushing touchdown, so the performance was close to looking more promising. Ultimately, it's tough to trust him in fantasy lineups until his usage sees an uptick, but the Lions selected him No. 12 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft and will surely feature him heavily at some point this year.

Jahmyr Gibbs A Risky PPR Play With Upside In NFL Debut

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs was selected in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft, meaning the organization should waste no time getting him involved in the offensive game plan. However, there have been plenty of rookie running backs who are eased along early, so his overall workload could be limited. He should at least be the primary pass-catching back immediately, which could provide plenty of PPR fantasy output against a high-powered Chiefs offense. "We want to have enough in where we know he can help us win here," Campbell said. Jahmyr Gibbs Thinks 1,000 Rushing Yards, 500 Receiving Yards Is Possible

Detroit Lions rookie first-round running back Jahmyr Gibbs is setting high goals for himself in his first NFL season after being taken with the 12th overall pick in this year's draft. Over three seasons at Georgia, he had 2,132 rushing yards and 1,217 receiving yards while scoring 23 total touchdowns. Gibbs averaged 7.0 yards per touch in 2022 while rushing for 926 yards and going for 441 receiving yards on 44 catches. The 21-year-old thinks he can go for 1,000 rushing yards and 500 receiving yards in his rookie season. Only 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey did that last year. However, Lions head coach Dan Campbell said he might ease Gibbs into action in Week 1 on Thursday night against the Kansas City Chiefs. Gibbs will be sharing work with David Montgomery in 2023, but he still has RB2 upside in fantasy in his first year.
