Why not Bijan at #1? Okay, there are certainly valid reasons to not overvalue rookies as it appears I am doing here. However, I look at his immediate competition for this spot, and weighing the risk-reward he pops at #1 for me. Age, probability of injury, and system. On balance these all seem to favor Bijan over CMC, Ekeler, Saquon, and Taylor. Mild concerns for Desmond Ridder, and a higher percentage of carries to Tyler Allgeier than we would like out of respect for the yeoman work he did last season.

Bijan Robinson - Week 3 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson has been as advertised thus far in his NFL career. The No. 8 overall pick has rushed 29 times for 180 yards and caught 10 of his 11 targets for 75 yards and a touchdown through two weeks. Against the Detroit Lions in Week 3, he should continue to post RB1 numbers. The Lions are just a mid-level defense against fantasy running backs so far, but Robinson sets up to be the best running back they have faced, and the Falcons' offensive line could have its way in this matchup. Tyler Allgeier will continue to be mixed in alongside Robinson, but the rookie from Texas will pay off for fantasy teams with efficiency.

Shaq Thompson Feared To Have Fractured Fibula

Carolina Panthers linebacker Shaq Thompson (leg) is feared to have a suffered a fractured fibula in Monday's game versus the New Orleans Saints. The 29-year-old will have additional tests on Tuesday to clarify the extent of the injury and determine whether or not he could be able to return this year. It coincides with a previous report that head coach Frank Reich deemed the setback a "significant" one following the Week 3 loss. Kamu Grugier-Hill could enter the starting mix among Carolina's linebackers, but it's a crucial loss defensively for a rebuilding Panthers roster. After being picked on by Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier in Week 1 and Tony Jones Jr. in Week 2, Carolina's D may be devolving into a unit to target for fantasy running backs going forward.

Bijan Robinson Posts Another Strong Performance

Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson finished with 124 yards off 19 carries during the narrow win over the Packers. He added four catches for 48 yards. While he didn't find the end zone, this was arguably the best showing of his young career. Tyler Allgeier accounted for 16 touches in Week 2. Although Allgeier doesn't appear to be going away anytime soon, there should be room for Robinson to remain an elite fantasy option in Week 3 against the Detroit Lions. Keep him starting in all fantasy formats.

While Tyler Allgeier was more productive on the ground, the rookie had six catches for 27 yards and a touchdown, finding the end zone early in the second quarter. It appears Allgeier isn't going anywhere, meaning Robinson might remain involved in a timeshare out of the backfield moving forward. However, the 21-year-old should continue to receive plenty of work, and his ability to catch passes makes him an even more attractive option for PPR managers in Week 2 versus the Green Bay Packers.

Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson will make his NFL regular season debut Sunday against the Carolina Panthers. Robinson had an outstanding college career at Texas. Last year, the former Longhorn had 258 rushing attempts for 1,580 yards and 18 touchdowns, leading the Big 12 in rushing yards and touchdowns. Furthermore, he averaged 4.17 yards after contact per attempt last season. According to PFF, the Falcons had the top run-blocking offensive line in the NFL in 2022. Meanwhile, the Panthers surrendered 19.8 half-point PPR fantasy points per game to running back last year, around the league average. While the matchup isn't elite, Robinson is a matchup-proof superstar.

Bijan Robinson Listed As RB1 On Falcons Depth Chart

The Atlanta Falcons released their first official depth chart for Week 1 against the Carolina Panthers and had rookie Bijan Robinson atop the running back position. Despite previously being listed as the RB3 on Atlanta's unofficial depth chart earlier this preseason, Robinson has earned the opportunity to be the team's lead back this season. The Falcons selected the former Texas star with the eighth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, and the rookie figures to be a focal point on offense. Last season, the Falcons ran the ball at the second-highest mark in the NFL (55.3%). If that continues into 2023, Robinson could be in for a high fantasy finish.

Bijan Robinson Has Big Expectations

Atlanta Falcons rookie first-round running back Bijan Robinson has been what the team thought he was when they took him in the top 10 in this year's NFL draft. Five running backs have been taken in the top 10 in the last 10 years, and four of them topped 1,000 rushing yards in their first NFL season, according to TruMedia. The fifth was San Francisco 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey, who is just as much of a threat in the passing game as Robinson is. The 21-year-old is expected to be a workhorse right out of the gates in a Falcons offense that is going to rely heavily on the run to help out second-year quarterback Desmond Ridder. Despite the presence of Tyler Allgeier in the backfield, Robinson is on another level and should be considered a top-five fantasy back immediately.
