  • Hendon Hooker Preparing Himself Mentally

    Headshot for Hendon Hooker

Detroit Lions quarterback Hendon Hooker (knee) still isn't ready to get on the practice field as he continues to recover from a torn ACL. The rookie quarterback says that he's doing good and taking it day-by-day. He mentioned that he has become a lot stronger physically and mentally because of this process. Hooker can't get on the field, but that hasn't stopped him from watching, learning, asking questions. The expectation is that Hooker is going to sit out the entire 2023 season. The Lions appear to be committed to Jared Goff, so Hooker will sit behind him and learn.

  • Hendon Hooker Looking At A Redshirt Year

    Headshot for Hendon Hooker

Detroit Lions quarterback Hendon Hooker is probably looking at a redshirt rookie year, according to head coach Dan Campbell. Hooker is still rehabbing a torn ACL and the Lions appear to be committed to Jared Goff as their starter in the near future. Hooker could be a long-term answer at the quarterback position for the Lions but he is unlikely to make an impact in 2023. He remains a stash in Superflex dynasty formats.

  • Lions Stop The Slide For Quarterback Hendon Hooker

    Headshot for Hendon Hooker

The Detroit Lions selected quarterback Hendon Hooker (knee) out of Tennessee with the No. 68 overall pick in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft on Friday night. The Lions traded up to No. 68 to select Hooker, who is expected to back up Jard Goff. After tearing his ACL in his final season, there is a lot of curiosity about when he'll be ready to suit up and make his debut. However, with Goff entrenched as the team's starter, they'll have the luxury of allowing him to sit behind the veteran for the entirety of the 2022 season if they so desire. Hooker was a highly touted prospect before the injury; he has the tools to be a competent starter in the NFL, especially given the supporting cast the Lions possess, making him an intriguing dynasty asset.

  • Draft Prospect QB Hendon Hooker Expected To Be Cleared By Week 1

    Headshot for Hendon Hooker

University of Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker has been working hard to come back from an ACL tear that he sustained in mid-November of last year. With the injury occurring so late in the year, it easily could’ve affected his availability to play in 2023, but according to Pete Thamel of ESPN, that’s not expected to […]

  • Hendon Hooker Shows Improved Mobility

    Headshot for Hendon Hooker

University of Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker posted a video on his Twitter of him dropping back for the first time since his ACL tear on November 19, 2022. This is a positive and timely update for the 25-year-old signal-caller just one day before the upcoming 2023 NFL Draft. Hooker has been mock-drafted as high as a top-10 selection and as late as a second-round pick. He's been tied to the Minnesota Vikings, Las Vegas Raiders, Houston Texans, and Tennessee Titans in recent weeks. It remains to be seen if he'll be ready for training camp, but evidence of improved mobility this early in the recovery process can do nothing but help his draft stock.

  • Hendon Hooker Could Be A Top-20 Pick

    Headshot for Hendon Hooker

University of Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker has seemingly risen up draft boards this offseason, and ESPN's Todd McShay said he could even be a top-20 selection on Thursday Night. "I keep hearing Hooker will get picked in the top 20. If Tennessee moves back -- maybe to No. 17 in a swap with the OL-needy Steelers -- that could be a team to watch," McShay said. "But Tampa Bay and Minnesota have been linked to him, as well. Hooker claims he'll be ready for training camp after suffering a torn ACL in late November, but it's unknown whether that is the case. Ultimately, a team could opt to draft the 25-year-old in the first round to secure a 5th-year option. Hooker posted 27 passing touchdowns to just two interceptions in his final season at Tennessee, winning SEC Offensive Player of the Year.

  • Titans Have Interest In C.J. Stroud, Will Levis

    Headshot for Hendon Hooker

The Tennessee Titans are in the quarterback mix with the first round of this year's NFL draft quickly approaching on Thursday night. ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay has heard there is real interest in Ohio State's C.J. Stroud and Kentucky's Will Levis, with the latter being the more recent name. Tennessee has spoken to at least four different teams about a potential move up or down the board in the first round. There is a belief that they will target a player to move up for -- likely one of the QBs -- but then pivot to trade down if it doesn't work out. Any move down in the first round would likely keep them inside the top 20, and Tennessee QB Hendon Hooker would then become a possibility. Ryan Tannehill is turning 35 years old in 2023 and is in decline.

  • Seahawks Expected To Take Quarterback In First Round

    Headshot for Will Anderson

ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay has a strong sense that the Seattle Seahawks won't leave Round 1 of this week's draft without a quarterback. McShay thinks Seattle could be targeting Ohio State's C.J. Stroud or Florida's Anthony Richardson at No. 5 overall, depending on who is still available. The idea is that either Stroud or Richardson could sit behind Geno Smith in the short term. If both players are gone, McShay thinks the Seahawks will go with either Alabama edge rusher Will Anderson Jr. or Texas Tech edge rusher Tyree Wilson. Multiple sources say that Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter isn't expected to be the pick. If Seattle doesn't take a QB at No. 5, they could go with Tennessee QB Hendon Hooker at No. 20 overall.

  • Raiders Still Considering First-Round QB?

    Headshot for Jimmy Garoppolo

Even after adding veteran quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo earlier this offseason, the Raiders are still considering a rookie QB. • Commanders Happy With Their Quarterback Situation

    Headshot for Jacoby Brissett

The Washington Commanders continue to say that they are happy with their current quarterback situation despite their recent visit with University of Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker. As things stand now, second-year QB Sam Howell will compete with veteran Jacoby Brissett for the starting gig in 2023. Howell, a fifth-rounder last year, impressed the coaches and his teammates all of last season. Hooker was impressive in college, but he's 25 years old and coming off a torn ACL, which means he'll likely come off the board in the second round of next week's NFL draft. Even if Hooker is selected by Washington, he'll likely be asked to sit and learn for a year while recovering from his serious knee injury last year.

  • Raiders Impressed With QB Hendon Hooker?

    Headshot for Hendon Hooker

The rare team to meet with all five of this year’s top quarterback prospects, the Raiders also must strongly consider using early-round picks to bolster their long-downtrodden defense. • Hendon Hooker To Visit With Giants Wednesday

    Headshot for Hendon Hooker

University of Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker (knee) will visit with the New York Giants on Wednesday, according to sources. Hooker's busy pre-draft tour continues as interested teams gather as much information on him and his recovery from a torn ACL as they can. He has already visited with the Washington Commanders. The Giants just signed Daniel Jones to an extension after a successful season under head coach Brian Daboll in 2022, but the G-Men could be looking at taking Hooker if he slides into the second round because of his injury. It remains to be seen if the 25-year-old will be fully healthy for the start of the 2023 campaign, and he'd ideally be drafted by a team that can have him sit and learn for a year.

  • NFL Draft Prospect Profile: Tennessee QB Hendon Hooker

We’ve already seen plenty of reports on the 2023 NFL Draft class’s top passing prospects. After the expected first-rounders (Alabama’s Bryce Young, Ohio State’s C.J. • Commanders Like Hendon Hooker In Second Or Third Round

    Headshot for Hendon Hooker

The Washington Commanders believe in quarterback Sam Howell enough that it's unlikely they will trade up for a signal-caller in this year's draft, especially not into the top 10. It's also unlikely that they'd draft a QB in the first round, unless a top guy unexpectedly falls into their lap. Washington likes Tennessee's Hendon Hooker if he's still on the board in the second or third round. They are hesitant to give up a lot of draft capital and would rather use it to build the roster around Howell. If Howell fails in 2023, the Commanders can always try again next year around a new option under center. The 25-year-old Hooker is widely considered the No. 5 QB prospect this year behind Bryce Young, C.J. Stroud, Will Levis and Anthony Richardson.

  • Hendon Hooker Set To Meet Lions And Raiders

    Headshot for Hendon Hooker

University of Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker has meetings set up with the Detroit Lions and Las Vegas Raiders in what is setting up to be a busy upcoming week. It was already reported that the 25-year-old will visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Mike Garafolo confirmed the Bucs' visit and added he will visit the Lions and Raiders as well. Both teams have veteran signal callers who have experience quarterbacking a team to a conference championship in the past but are far from being elite. Hooker, who completed 69.2% of his passes for 3,135 yards, 27 touchdowns, and two interceptions as a fifth-year senior at Tennessee, has been rising up the draft boards. His stock has risen from No. 100 on January 1 to No. 75 today on PFF's aggregate of public rankings.

  • Hendon Hooker Getting High Praise

    Headshot for Hendon Hooker

Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker is likely to miss most of his rookie season after tearing his ACL in November. Despite that, some teams reportedly view Hooker as the third best quarterback coming out of this draft. Hooker was having a fantastic season before it was cut short due to injury. He threw for 3,135 yards with 27 touchdowns, while rushing for 430 yards and five scores on the ground in 11 games. Hooker could be worth the gamble for an organization that already has a veteran quarterback in place. The 25-year-old could sit and learn behind a veteran until he's healthy enough to play. It wouldn't be shocking to see Hooker getting drafted towards the end of the first round.

  • Hendon Hooker To Visit With Buccaneers

    Headshot for Hendon Hooker

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are scheduled to meet with University of Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker next week, according to multiple reports. The Buccaneers signed Baker Mayfield in free agency and also have Kyle Trask after Tom Brady's retirement, but they may not be done adding to the position. However, Hooker is recovering from a torn ACL suffered in 2022, so if Tampa chose to draft him, he'd have time to fully recovery behind Mayfield and Trask in his rookie season. In addition to the Buccaneers, the New Orleans Saints, Washington Commanders, Green Bay Packers and Tennessee Titans have also met or plan to meet with Hooker with the 2023 draft quickly approaching.

  • Hendon Hooker Could Be A First-Round Pick

    Headshot for Hendon Hooker

University of Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker is seemingly climbing up draft boards, despite sitting out all on-field testing due to his torn ACL in late November last year. Hooker has reportedly impressed organizations during the interview process and has met with or is scheduled to meet with the New Orleans Saints, Tennessee Titans, and Washington Commanders, among others. Hooker posted 3,135 passing yards, 27 passing touchdowns, and just two interceptions during his final year in college. He added 430 yards and five touchdowns on the ground. ESPN's Todd McShay's latest mock draft projects Hooker to be selected by the Minnesota Vikings at pick No. 23. The 25-year-old is expected to be ready for offseason activities and should be pro-ready immediately.

  • Hendon Hooker To Meet With Saints

    Headshot for Derek Carr

The New Orleans Saints are scheduling a meeting with rookie quarterback Hendon Hooker. The two sides plan to sit down and talk on Tuesday. Hooker suffered a torn ACL during Tennessee's loss to South Carolina last season. He's a borderline first round pick that saw his stock take a significant hit after the injury. The Saints hold the 29th overall pick, which they might use on Hooker. They already have Derek Carr as their starter heading into next season. Hooker could sit behind Carr while he recovers and learn until he's ready to take the field.

  • Hendon Hooker Expected To Be Ready For 2023 Opener

    Headshot for Hendon Hooker

University of Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker (knee), who tore his ACL last November, received positive medical reports at the NFL combine in Indianapolis last week, according to sources. He is three months removed from surgery and is on track to be ready for the 2023 regular season opener. The 25-year-old unexpectedly took it slow at the combine last week and probably won't do much at his school's pro day later this month. Hooker is older than the other QB prospects in this year's draft, but he could become a solid starter under center at the next level if he lands in the right situation. In his final season with the Volunteers, he threw for 3,135 yards, 27 touchdowns and only two interceptions while completing 69.6 percent of his passes.
