Titans Haven't Named No. 2 Quarterback

Tennessee Titans quarterbacks Malik Willis and Will Levis have been battling this preseason to be the backup quarterback to Ryan Tannehill. However, head coach Mike Vrabel said the team hasn't decided who the No. 2 quarterback is -- less than seven days from the Week 1 game against the New Orleans Saints. Willis has seen the majority of preseason action since Levis (leg) missed the games against the Minnesota Vikings and New England Patriots. However, Levis was a second-round pick, so he could have a leg up on the competition. Ultimately, the quarterback job will be occupied by Ryan Tannehill unless his play drops off mightily or he gets injured. Both Levis and Willis can be rostered in ultra-deep superflex and two-QB formats until there is more clarity.

Aug 30 · ESPN Titans Will LevisMalik Willis Throws Two Touchdowns In Preseason Finale

Tennessee Titans quarterback Malik Willis completed 15-of-20 passes for 211 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions in Friday's 23-7 preseason win over New England. Willis surprisingly ran for only 17 yards despite playing the entire night after the first drive, instead providing a mix of good and bad plays with his arm. The 2022 third-round draft pick participated in a few games last year, and his appearances went about as poorly as possible. It was so bad that Willis was eventually benched down the stretch. On the plus side, the athletic QB added some value with his legs so that he might emerge as a dual threat someday. In the meantime, the 24-year-old will sit and learn behind veteran Ryan Tannehill and rookie Will Levis.

Will Levis Not Expected To Play Against Patriots

Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis (thigh) is not expected to play against the Patriots on Friday night. The rookie signal-caller suffered a thigh injury in joint practices with the Minnesota Vikings last week. Although he returned to practice this week, he is evidently not ready for game action. It looks like Malik Willis will get most or all of the work at quarterback again, meaning his chances to win the No. 2 QB job are becoming increasingly likely. Levis is not on the fantasy radar in any redraft formats this year until further notice.

Will Levis Back At Practice, Aiming To Play Friday

Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis (lower body) returned to practice Wednesday and hopes to play in the team's preseason finale against New England on Friday. The rookie did not play in the team's second preseason game against the Vikings due to the injury. The second-round pick is in competition with sophomore Malik Willis for the backup quarterback job, with Willis the favorite to win. Levis may be worthy of a roster spot in dynasty formats but should not be selected in standard-sized fantasy drafts.

Malik Willis To Play Entire Game Against Minnesota

With Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Will Levis (lower body) out for the team's second preseason game on Saturday night against the Minnesota Vikings, Malik Willis will play the entire game. Willis and Levis rotated in the preseason opener last week against the Chicago Bears, with Willis going 16-for-25 for 189 yards and an interception. He also added three carries for 22 yards and a touchdown with his legs and was sacked four times. The 24-year-old second-year signal-caller started over Levis last week, and all indications are that he's ahead of the rookie in the competition for the backup job to starter Ryan Tannehill. If Willis impresses on Saturday against the Vikes, he'll take a big lead over Levis in the backup competition.

Will Levis Won't Play Saturday

Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Will Levis (lower body) will not play in the team's second preseason game on Saturday against the Minnesota Vikings, according to a source. Levis suffered an undisclosed lower-body injury during training camp practice on Thursday, and the Titans will take the cautious approach and hold Levis out in hopes that he'll be available for the preseason finale next week. With the 24-year-old out this weekend, second-year QB Malik Willis will play the entire contest against Minnesota, giving him yet another opportunity to solidify his role as Ryan Tannehill's primary backup heading into the 2023 regular season.

Will Levis Dealing With Lower-Body Injury

Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Will Levis (lower body) left Thursday's training camp practice early due to a lower-body injury. The severity of Levis' injury is unknown at this time, but it could keep him from valuable repetitions in the team's second preseason contest on Saturday against the Minnesota Vikings. The 24-year-old has had his ups and downs during training camp heading into his first NFL season, while Malik Willis has looked much improved after struggling in his rookie campaign in 2022. Levis could be the QB of the future in Tennessee, but for now, it's looking like Willis is going to enter the 2023 regular season as Ryan Tannehill's primary backup under center.

Will Levis Throws Game-Sealing Interception

Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Will Levis completed nine of his 14 passing attempts for 85 yards and zero touchdowns in the 23-17 loss to the Chicago Bears. Levis alternated with second-year quarterback Malik Willis and was on the field for the team's final drive of the game. The Kentucky product threw an interception at the end of the fourth quarter, effectively ending the Titans' comeback attempt. Levis will have plenty of ups-and-downs in his development as he tries to beat out Willis for the team's QB2 job behind Ryan Tannehill. He is worth stashing in deep superflex leagues.

Will Levis Earning Praise From Teammates

Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Will Levis has had his ups and downs at training camp this summer, but he has shown some spunk, and his teammates have noticed. He earned praise from running back Derrick Henry in Friday's practice during a late two-minute period. Levis finished Friday 4-for-9 in the 7-on-7 team period, and he's gone 40-for-69 in six days of training camp in 7-on-7 team periods combined. Ryan Tannehill is the team's starter heading into the 2023 regular season, so the 24-year-old Levis is competing for the backup job with Malik Willis. Levis is old for a rookie and raw as a passer with accuracy issues, so ideally he will hold the clipboard all year and learn from Tannehill. He's off the fantasy radar in single-year leagues.

Offseason In Review: Tennessee Titans

The AFC’s No. 1 seed in 2021, the Titans took a step back after another injury-riddled season. As numerous starters moved from Tennessee’s two-deep to IR, ownership reversed course on an extension it had just authorized months earlier. Like the Cardinals, the Titans fired a GM (Jon Robinson) they had extended earlier in the year. […]

The Tennessee Titans agreed to terms with quarterback Will Levis on his four-year rookie deal on Saturday. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The Titans now have all of their 2023 draft picks under contract. Tennessee traded up to get Levis in the second round of this year's draft at 33rd overall. He threw for 2,406 yards, 19 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in his final season with Kentucky in 2022, and he finished with 5,877 yards, 46 TDs and 25 interceptions in his four college seasons. The 24-year-old could make some starts later in his rookie season, but he'll likely spend most of the year, if not all of it, serving as Ryan Tannehill's backup. Levis is expected to pass Malik Willis on the depth chart as the No. 2 signal-caller for the Titans.

QB Malik Willis Not Guaranteed To Make Titans Roster

Despite being selected in the third round of the 2022 draft, Malik Willis isn’t a lock to make the Titans roster. While Jim Wyatt of the team’s website believes the quarterback will ultimately make the squad, he cautions that the “roster spot isn’t guaranteed.” The Titans drafted Willis as more of a long-term project instead […]
