Chigoziem Okonkwo Has Low Floor Despite Favorable Week 4 Matchup

Tennessee Titans tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo has brought in just seven passes for 42 yards through his first three games of 2023. He ranks 30th among all tight ends in targets (10) and has failed to make an impact. This was always a concern after the team added DeAndre Hopkins, and it is becoming a reality. Even though the Cincinnati Bengals have allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to tight ends thus far, the second-year player out of Maryland should not be on the fantasy radar except in the deepest of tight end premium leagues. The Tennessee offense could be embarrassed once again in Week 4.

Chigoziem Okonkwo Not Worth Starting In Week 3

Tennessee Titans tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo has caught just four passes for 35 yards through two weeks of the 2023 NFL season. Heading into Week 3, he ranks tied for fifth in targets among all Titans players with six. Now, he'll head into a tough matchup with the Cleveland Browns, who have allowed the third-fewest fantasy points to tight ends up to this point. Unless Okonkwo finds the end zone in Cleveland, it'll be a difficult road to finding fantasy production. So far, the addition of All-Pro wideout DeAndre Hopkins has forced Okonkwo into fantasy irrelevance. That will likely continue in this AFC bout on Sunday.

Chigoziem Okonkwo Catches Four Passes In Win

Tennessee Titans tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo caught all four of his targets for 35 yards in the Week 2 win over the Los Angeles Chargers. Tennessee's passing offense looked much improved in Week 2, but Okonkwo still didn't pay off as a fantasy tight end. Ultimately, with Derrick Henry, DeAndre Hopkins, and Treylon Burks in the same offense, Okonkwo is unlikely to see the target volume he needs to post a TE1 season. He's likely a touchdown-or-bust option moving forward.

Chigoziem Okonkwo - Week 2 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Tennessee Titans tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo failed to catch a pass against the New Orleans Saints last week. The Week 1 results clearly make him a risky fantasy option, but if DeAndre Hopkins (ankle) does not play against the Los Angeles Chargers, Okonkwo could be worth rolling the dice on. His competition for targets would consist of Treylon Burks, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, and Chris Moore, meaning he should have opportunities to score fantasy points. If Hopkins plays. Okonkwo should probably remain on the bench in fantasy lineups.

Chigoziem Okonkwo Doesn't Catch Pass In Loss

Tennessee Titans tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo failed to catch either of his two targets in the 16-15 loss to the New Orleans Saints in Week 1. The second-year tight end was wide open on a double pass play, but quarterback Ryan Tannehill overthrew him. After seeing Okonkwo notch just two targets, he cannot be trusted in fantasy lineups until further notice. DeAndre Hopkins looks like the only Tennessee pass catcher to start in fantasy football against the Los Angeles Chargers next week.

Chigoziem Okonkwo Faces Tough Matchup In Season-Opener

Tennessee Titans tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo exceeded expectations as a rookie, catching 46 passes for 450 yards and three touchdowns. However, he posted those numbers with rookie Treylon Burks and aging veterans Robert Woods and Austin Hooper as his primary target competition. In 2023, DeAndre Hopkins should be the team's target hog, lowering Okonkwo's floor. In Week 1, he faces a New Orleans Saints team that allowed the fewest fantasy points to tight ends last season. Ultimately, Okonkwo is unlikely to post fantasy-relevant numbers in the season-opener unless he catches a touchdown.

Chigoziem Okonkwo Leaves Tuesday's Practice Early

Tennessee Titans tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo (undisclosed) left Tuesday's practice early. There is no further information on his status just yet, so it will be worth monitoring moving forward. Titans wide receiver Treylon Burks (knee) and Kyle Philips (knee) are both banged up, so losing Okonkwo for any period of time would make the Titans' pass-catching group ultra-thin behind DeAndre Hopkins. Assuming Okonkwo is fine, he carries a low-end fantasy TE2 outlook into 2023 after the arrival of Hopkins. That said, he could continue to be efficient and exceed expectations if Tennessee's offense has a bounce-back year.

Chigoziem Okonkwo Catches One Pass Against Vikings

Tennessee Titans tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo caught one of his three targets for 19 yards in the 24-16 preseason win over the Minnesota Vikings. Okonkwo was a preseason sleeper all offseason, but the arrival of DeAndre Hopkins mightily reduced his projected receiving volume. That said, the Titans' offense should have more touchdown upside, and hopefully, Okonkwo can remain efficient to stay on the fantasy football radar. If Treylon Burks (knee) misses any regular season action, Okonkwo will be an interesting play at tight end early in the 2023 campaign.

Chigoziem Okonkwo Needs To Improve Blocking

Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel said that tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo need to improve his blocking. Okonkwo has been working on his blocking this offseason, but apparently it's not to the point where Vrabel is satisfied. As a pass-catcher, Okonkwo was extremely efficient in his first NFL season in 2022, catching 32 of his 46 targets for 450 yards and three touchdowns in 17 games (eight starts). In a Titans offense that should remain run-heavy as long as running back Derrick Henry is around, Okonkwo's playing time could suffer if his blocking skills aren't up to par. There's still a lot to like about the 23-year-old. He's on the TE1/2 borderline and will be a popular streaming option in his second NFL campaign.

Chigoziem Okonkwo Has Shown Improvement

Tennessee Titans tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo is reportedly showing improvement as a blocker and pass-catcher. The 23-year-old showed plenty of potential during his rookie season in 2022. He finished with 32 receptions for 450 yards and three touchdowns in 17 games (eight starts) with Tennessee. The expectation is that he'll see a bigger workload during his second year with the team. He'll be competing with fifth-rounder Josh Whyle for snaps at tight end. This offense should remain run-heavy with Derrick Henry. Despite that, Okonkwo could have some TE1 value heading into next season.
