Jaylen Warren A PPR Flex Option In Week 3

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Warren totaled 86 yards in Week 2 and will look to stay productive against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 3. Although Warren does not see many touches as a ball carrier, the 24-year-old has been highly involved as a receiver with the second-most targets on the team. Pittsburgh's matchup against the Raiders bodes well for Warren's skillset as Las Vegas has allowed the fourth-most receptions to opposing running backs so far this season. As part of a struggling Steelers offense, Warren does not offer much touchdown upside, but fantasy managers can consider starting him as a flex option in PPR leagues.

Jaylen Warren Efficient As Pass-Catcher In Week 2 Victory

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Warren handled six carries for 20 yards and secured four of his six targets for 66 yards in a Week 2 win against the Cleveland Browns. Najee Harris continued to be Pittsburgh's primary ball carrier on Monday night but Warren has clearly carved out a role for himself as a receiver. He looked particularly explosive when turning a short pass from quarterback Kenny Pickett into a 30-yard gain in the second quarter. With the Steelers' offense struggling to open the 2023 campaign, it's difficult to project Warren for a lot of touchdown upside, but the 24-year-old does offer some appeal as a flex option in PPR leagues. Warren should stay involved in a Week 3 bout with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Jaylen Warren - Week 2 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Warren earned an impressive amount of targets in Week 1 and will continue to operate as the team's change-of-pace back in a Week 2 matchup with the Cleveland Browns. Although Najee Harris is still expected to lead the way, Warren could earn additional snaps this week as a pass-catching threat with Diontae Johnson (hamstring) sidelined. Additionally, the Browns represent a much more favorable matchup for opposing running backs than the 49ers, who Warren was ineffective against last week. Still, fantasy managers should wait to see Warren's role grow and Pittsburgh's offense improve before moving him into starting lineups.

Jaylen Warren Sees Eight Touches In Blowout Loss

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Warren had three carries for just six yards and caught five of his six targets for an extra 12 yards in the 30-7 blowout loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1 on Sunday. Before the game, reports surfaced that Warren could see increased work alongside starter Najee Harris, and the two RBs ended up touching the ball eight times apiece against San Fran. Neither did much with their work against a strong Niners defensive unit, and Pittsburgh was forced to basically abandon the run after falling down big early in the first half. Warren and the Steelers offense will look to do better in Week 2 against the visiting Cleveland Browns. If Warren continues to share more backfield work with Harris all year, he could be a weekly RB3/flex option for fantasy managers.

Najee Harris, Jaylen Warren To Split Carries Sunday

Pittsburgh Steelers running backs Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren are expected to split carries against the San Francisco 49ers, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. While Harris will draw the start and handle plenty of first- and second-down opportunities, Warren will play third downs while also earning snaps on some first and second downs. Fantasy managers should view Harris as a low-end RB2 while Warren is an intriguing RB3/FLEX option if you need running back help in a pinch.

Najee Harris Not Giving Up Bell-Cow Duties Easily

The Athletic's Mark Kaboly doesn't think it would be shocking if Pittsburgh Steelers running back Najee Harris equals his numbers from a year ago when he had 313 total touches, even with the emergence of Jaylen Warren as a legitimate No. 2 option in the backfield. The Steelers limited Harris in the preseason in order to keep him fresh, but after all, head coach Mike Tomlin is a bell-cow RB coach. Harris had a terrible first half of 2022 while nursing a foot injury, but he was great in the second half, scoring six touchdowns and touching the ball 20-plus times per game. The 25-year-old has back-to-back 1,000-yard rushing seasons to begin his NFL career and has been durable, but his efficiency (3.9 yards per carry) leaves something to be desired. As long as the volume remains high, Harris will be a solid RB2 for fantasy managers, and he could be even more if Pittsburgh's passing attack actually scares opponents.

Jaylen Warren Not Surpassing Najee Harris

Steelers.com's Dale Lolley writes that the narrative that Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Warren is going to "surpass" Najee Harris as the team's lead back isn't true. Both Harris and Warren will have their roles in Pittsburgh's backfield this year. Harris is the No. 1 and Warren is the third-down back, writes Lolley. Both backs will be valuable, but he disputes the belief that Warren will eventually push past Harris. Harris, a first-rounder in 2021, has back-to-back seasons of 1,000 rushing yards in his first two NFL seasons, although he's averaged just 3.9 yards per carry on 579 attempts. The 25-year-old isn't going anywhere, but Warren could start to see the field more if he continues to look more explosive. In fantasy drafts this weekend, target Harris as an RB2 and Warren as a handcuff or worthwhile RB4/flex in the later rounds.

Jaylen Warren Lurking In Pittsburgh

ESPN's Dan Graziano says not to be surprised if Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Warren is the team's lead RB by the end of the 2023 season. Najee Harris was the team's first-round selection in 2021 and has been very productive and reliable in his first two seasons. However, Warren's performance in practice and games has demanded a larger role that what the Steelers had planned for a year ago. The 24-year-old has actually looked more explosive than Harris in some areas. Unless Harris looks more like his rookie version, Warren could steal more opportunities away as the year goes on. An undrafted rookie in 2022, Warren had 77 carries for 379 yards in his rookie campaign and is absolutely worth a late-round flier. Those that take Harris would be wise to handcuff Warren to him.

Jaylen Warren Scores Again In Preseason Finale

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Warren turned two rushing attempts into 14 yards and a touchdown in the team's 24-0 preseason victory over the Atlanta Falcons. Warren took the field with the starters and received touches on each of Pittsburgh's first two offensive possessions. He displayed great burst once again but also demonstrated his power when running over a Falcons defender for an eight-yard score. The 24-year-old has likely earned a significant role for himself this season as the lightning to Najee Harris' thunder and should be considered an interesting selection in the later rounds of fantasy drafts.

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Warren made the most of his only carry in a preseason win over the Buffalo Bills, turning it into a 62-yard touchdown on the team's first drive of the contest. For the second consecutive week, Warren received snaps with Pittsburgh's starters. He has impressed throughout the summer and should push for more opportunities behind Najee Harris this season. The second-year pro should be considered an intriguing selection late in fantasy drafts as a high-upside handcuff with the potential to provide value as a flex option.

Steelers Utilizing Two-Back Sets With Najee Harris, Jaylen Warren

Pittsburgh Steelers running backs Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren are reportedly getting snaps together in two-back sets during training camp. The team utilized this package a few times late last season, so it will be interesting to see if it becomes a core piece of its offense. If so, Jaylen Warren could see an uptick in his snap share, which surely won't hurt his chances to have a little bit of value in fantasy football leagues of all sizes. At worst, Warren seems to have locked down the RB2 role in Pittsburgh and should be stashed as an intriguing handcuff RB in 2023.
