  • Christian Watson Still Not Practicing

Green Bay Packers rookie second-round wide receiver Christian Watson (knee) continues to be sidelined at training camp as he recovers from offseason knee surgery. With Watson sidelined, rookie fourth-rounder Romeo Doubs has really stepped up in practices and has impressed quarterback Aaron Rodgers will consistent "wow" plays. The Packers are hoping to get Watson back on the field next week, but he's missing crucial repetitions to gain chemistry with Rodgers, who is notorious for being hard on rookie pass-catchers. The 23-year-old still has time to get ready before the start of the regular season, but all the time missed so far makes it more likely that he won't be a consistent producer early in the 2022 season.

  • Christian Watson Won't Be Rushed Back

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson (knee) doesn't have a return date. However, while general manager Brian Gutekunst reported that he isn't "overly concerned" with the rookie missing time during training camp, the team won't rush him back either. After totaling 43 catches for 801 yards and seven touchdowns throughout his final year at North Dakota State, Watson now resides on the PUP list. As a result, there's a good chance he won't make an immediate impact in 2022-23, although there is still plenty of dynasty attractiveness and late-season redraft appeal, assuming he gets healthy enough to take the field.

  • Packers Not Looking To Add A Veteran Receiver

Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst said he's not looking to add a veteran wide receiver at this point in training camp, in part because there's not a lot out there right now and he "really likes the group we have." It's a bit surprising considering both veteran Sammy Watkins and rookie Christian Watson aren't ready to begin practicing in training camp due to minor injuries. Allen Lazard was already considered the team's No. 1 pass-catcher heading into this season with Davante Adams now with the Raiders, and he should be the most consistent fantasy weapon in the Packers' receiving corps in 2022, even if Green Bay did bring in another body.

  • Christian Watson's Injury Isn't Serious

Green Bay Packers rookie wide receiver Christian Watson's (undisclosed) injury isn't considered serious and he's expected to "miss a little bit of time" in training camp, according to general manager Brian Gutekunst. Watson was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list on Tuesday after having an undisclosed procedure in the offseason. The 23-year-old pass-catcher has plenty of upside in a receiving corps with plenty of opportunity now that Davante Adams is gone, but missed time in training camp for rookies is never a good thing. Watson never caught more than 43 passes in a single season at North Dakota State, so he might need more seasoning than most rookie wideouts, making him a better late-round flier in rookie-only drafts in 2022.

  • Packers Place Nine Players On PUP To Start Camp

Sat, 4:07pm: As mentioned as a possibility last night, the Packers made an addition to their PUP list today, placing star left tackle David Bakhtiari on the list after not including him in their first moves last night, according to ESPN’s Field Yates. Bakhtiari missed all but one game last season as he recovered from […]

  • Christian Watson, Robert Tonyan, Others Land On PUP List

The Green Bay Packers placed rookie wide receiver Christian Watson (undisclosed), tight end Robert Tonyan (knee), rookie running back Kylin Hill (knee), running back Patrick Taylor (undisclosed), offensive guard Elgton Jenkins (knee), kicker Mason Crosby (undisclosed), defensive end Dean Lowry (undisclosed), defensive tackle Hauati Pututau (undisclosed) and linebacker Randy Ramsey (undisclosed) on the Physically Unable to Perform list on Friday. The Packers traded up to take Watson in the second round of this year's draft, and although he's getting a late start, he could wind up being the Packers pass-catcher with the most fantasy upside in his first season. Tonyan is returning from an ACL tear in Week 8 last year and might not be ready for Week 1. If he's not ready, Josiah Deguara could be the team's No. 1 pass-catching option at the position.

  • Packers Sign Second-Rounder Christian Watson

The Green Bay Packers signed rookie second-round wide receiver Christian Watson to his four-year rookie deal on Wednesday. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The 6-foot-4, 208-pounder out of North Dakota State didn't face top-level competition in college, but the Packers expect him to help replace Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Equanimeous St. Brown right away. The 23-year-old impressed the coaching staff this spring and should be a more consistent deep threat for Green Bay eventually. He's worth a late-round flier in much deeper fantasy leagues with quarterback Aaron Rodgers throwing him the ball, and he might already have the most upside among a group of receivers that includes Allen Lazard and veterans Randall Cobb and Sammy Watkins, among others.

  • Latest On Packers WR Allen Lazard

Like a number of other teams, the Packers held their mandatory minicamp this past week. Attendance wasn’t an issue from a legal perspective, but there was a notable absence nevertheless. Wideout Allen Lazard was not with the team, as noted (on Twitter) by ESPN’s Rob Demovsky.  Lazard found himself as a restricted free agent for the second […]

  • Christian Watson Could Be A Project

Green Bay Packers rookie wide receiver and second-round pick Christian Watson could take some time to make an impact. Widely considered to be a freakish athlete but raw on talent, The Packers Wire reporter Zack Kruse hinted that Watson was not necessarily a selection to help capitalize on quarterback Aaron Rodgers' championship window. "The Packers didn't draft Christian Watson because they thought he was the best WR for 2022. They drafted him because he is an awesome fit with LaFleur with huge upside. The Aaron Rodgers window matters but also not really. Draft is for long-term team building," said Kruse. Fantasy managers have plenty of reasons to agree with this take considering Watson's small school background with North Dakota State's extremely run-heavy scheme. For anyone not buying into Watson's hype, wide receiver Allen Lazard should make for a screaming value at his ADP sitting around the WR51.

  • Christian Watson Should Have Big Role

Green Bay Packers second-round wide receiver Christian Watson might be a WR1 as a rookie as the team looks to replace Davante Adams, who was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason. Allen Lazard, Randall Cobb and Sammy Watkins have shown little indication that they can be quarterback Aaron Rodgers' top pass-catcher. Watson will need to gain chemistry with Rodgers quickly for the future Hall of Fame signal-caller to trust him on game days. "His combination of size and speed is great," offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich said. "He's a big guy. He can move. He's going to be a problem once he figures things out." Watson will surely be an intriguing dynasty league selection this year, and he could make plenty of noise in redraft leagues as well.
