Skyy Moore Pops Up For Career-High 70 Yards, Scores In Win

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Skyy Moore hauled in 3-of-4 targets for a career-high 70 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 17-9 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. The 22-year-old came down with a nine-yard score to give K.C. the lead near the first half's close. Moore then helped put the game away on a 54-yard catch-and-run in part by some nifty footwork by quarterback Patrick Mahomes to get it to him and sink whatever hopes remained of a potential Jacksonville rally. It was certainly a step in the right direction for Moore, who put up a goose egg in the season opener. With Kadarius Toney having trouble getting out of his own way, Moore will have another chance to earn Mahomes' trust in an advantageous Week 3 draw versus the Chicago Bears.

Skyy Moore - Week 2 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Skyy Moore was as much of a non factor fantasy-wise as teammate Kadarius Toney in a Week 1 defeat to the Detroit Lions. The 22-year-old failed to bring in any of his three targets, but at least logged the team lead in snaps (71%) among their receivers. Moore hardly belongs in any fantasy starter conversations in Week 2 against the Jacksonville Jaguars as no better than the team's No. 3 target with Travis Kelce (knee) poised to return. The 2022 first-rounder is justifiable as an end-of-bench stash at this time, but not a worthy WR3 even in Week 2's date with a Jags defense that let in 18 touchdowns to WRs a season ago.

Skyy Moore Held Catchless In Thursday's Defeat

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Skyy Moore failed to reel in any of his three targets, but logged a four-yard rush in Thursday's 21-20 loss to the Detroit Lions. So much for Moore potentially stepping up for an expanded role in the absence of Travis Kelce (knee). The 22-year-old at least led the receiving corps in snaps. Moore might be a popular drop candidate ahead of Week 2, but fantasy managers might want to give him another chance or two before considering doing so. Though, the 2022 second-round pick will not be a recommended WR4 option next Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Offseason In Review: Kansas City Chiefs

As partially chronicled on Netflix, the Chiefs secured their second Super Bowl championship in four seasons. Patrick Mahomes is now 3-for-5 in Super Bowl appearances as a starter and is the first quarterback since Otto Graham (1950-55) to begin an NFL career with five straight conference championship games. The two-time MVP gutted through a high […]

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Skyy Moore seeks to put a nondescript rookie season in the rearview mirror in Week 1. The 22-year-old managed 22 receptions for 250 yards and failed to hit paydirt in the regular season of Year 1. Moore takes the field in a decent setup with Kadarius Toney unlikely to play a full allotment of snaps following late-July knee surgery. The Detroit Lions defense was beat up for the second-most receiving yards to WRs (3238) and the most fantasy points per game to slot receivers (15.9) a year ago. Fantasy managers should ideally be taking a wait-and-see approach before starting Moore on Thursday, but he may end up leading the receiving corps in snaps in this one. View the 2022 second-round pick as a low-end WR3/4 in a favorable matchup. Moore would arguably be the biggest beneficiary of additional opportunity if Travis Kelce (knee) is limited or ruled out entirely.

Skyy Moore Could Be Heavily Targeted This Year

The two best candidates to be Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes' No. 2 target behind tight end Travis Kelce this year are wide receivers Skyy Moore and Marquez Valdes-Scantling, in the opinion of The Athletic's Nate Taylor. Moore is expected to replace JuJu Smith-Schuster as the team's slot receiver, with Valdes-Scantling being the team's best deep-ball threat. If Moore can stay healthy, Taylor writes that an argument can be made that Mahomes will target him the most among the team's receivers. Kadarius Toney (knee) has had trouble staying on the field so far in his career and could be limited in the early going, so don't be surprised if the 22-year-old Moore gets off to a strong start in 2023.

Skyy Moore Running With Starters At Training Camp

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Skyy Moore has spent his training camp running with the starters during all reps in which two wide receivers are on the field, according to Jesse Newell of the Kansas City Star. Newell also notes "every indication as of now is [that] Moore is ahead" of Justyn Ross and Rashee Rice in the pecking order. Overall, reports about Moore this summer have been overwhelmingly positive. In addition to showcasing his skills on the field, he has worked hard to earn the trust of Patrick Mahomes, which is huge. If Moore continues to perform at a high level into the regular season, he could be a strong fantasy option around the WR2 or WR3 tier.

Skyy Moore Consistently Working With Starters

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Skyy Moore has been with the first-team offense for every repetition during training camp when the team has had two receivers on the field. Rookie Rashee Rice and Justyn Ross have occasionally mixed in with the starters, but they have overwhelmingly worked with the second-stringers. The KC Star's Jesse Newell writes that every indication as of now is that Moore is ahead of both Rice and Ross on the WR depth chart. Things could change in the preseason, but this news should cause Moore's fantasy ADP to slowly climb heading into the 2023 regular season. If the 22-year-old is a starter in this explosive offense next to Kadarius Toney and Marquez Valdes-Scantling, he'll absolutely be worth a late-round flier as a WR4 in fantasy drafts.

Skyy Moore the favorite to assume slot duties in KC

Posted 22-250-0 line as rookie in 2022 The top slot receiver option appears to be Skyy Moore, the second-year player who will try to replace some of the production that JuJu Smith-Schuster generated last season. Moore was one of the best performers during mandatory minicamp last month. "Skyy's worked real hard this offseason," HC Andy Reid said then. "He looks like he's on the same page with (Patrick Mahomes). He's doing a nice job. Let's keep on advancing as we go. He'll do that because he's wired right to do that." (The Athletic - Nate Taylor) FF Today's Take: The expectation is that Moore will start the season in the slot, although rookie Rashee Rice and/or Richie James could make it hard for him to keep the job. Travis Kelce logged more snaps in the slot (343) than any other Chief last year, including Smith-Schuster (270), although the latter was easily the team's most productive wide receiver (78-933-3). Moore is highly unlikely to match that level of production in 2023, but a primarily slot receiver in a Patrick Mahomes-led offense is worth stashing as a WR5 option late in drafts.
Jul 18 · FF Today Chiefs Skyy MooreSkyy Moore Should Be Top Slot Option For Chiefs

Kansas City Chiefs second-year wide receiver Skyy Moore figures to be the team's top slot option heading into the 2023 season, replacing JuJu Smith-Schuster. Moore was one of the best performers at mandatory minicamp last month. "Skyy's worked real hard this offseason," head coach Andy Reid said. "He looks like he's on the same page with Patrick Mahomes. He's doing a nice job. Let's keep on advancing as we go. He'll do that because he's wired right to do that." Fantasy managers will probably want to see Moore produce early in the year before plucking him off the waiver wire after he caught just 22 passes for 250 yards as a rookie in 2022, but the upside could be significant if he continues to impress at training camp this summer. The 22-year-old is definitely worth a late-round flier in deeper fantasy leagues.
