Kenny Pickett Scheduled For An MRI

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett (knee) is scheduled for an MRI. The signal-caller went 15-for-23 for 114 yards and a pick before suffering a left knee injury in the third quarter of Sunday's blowout loss to Houston. He hasn't done much on the fantasy end this season, so there aren't many managers anxiously awaiting an update. But if Pickett misses time moving forward, Mitch Trubisky would likely take over. However, Trubisky shouldn't be any more productive from a fantasy standpoint.

Kenny Pickett Looks To Keep Things Rolling Against Texans

Quarterback Kenny Pickett and the Pittsburgh Steelers head to Houston in Week 4 to take on the Texans. In the first three weeks of the 2023 season, Pickett is averaging 229.7 passing yards per game and is completing just under 60% of his passes. After a couple of tough matchups to start the season against the 49ers and Browns, Pickett drew a softer matchup against the Raiders in Week 3, but could still only manage a season-high 235 yards against them. The Texans' defense has not performed well this season but has still limited opposing quarterbacks to 228 passing yards per game and has allowed only two passing touchdowns so far. Pickett is not relevant for fantasy purposes in Week 4.

Kenny Pickett Has Solid Showing In Week 3 Win

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett completed 16 of his 28 pass attempts for 235 yards and two touchdowns in a 23-18 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders. He also added 11 rushing yards on three carries. Pickett had by far his best performance of the season on Sunday night, passing for multiple scores for the first time in his young career. He connected with wide receiver Calvin Austin III on a deep ball for a 72-yard touchdown in the first quarter and later found tight end Pat Freiermuth in the end zone from 13 yards out. Although Pickett himself is not yet on the fantasy radar in most formats, this showing was a good sign for the outlook of Pittsburgh's offensive weapons. A bout with the Houston Texans is on tap for Week 4.

Matt Canada To Work More Directly With Kenny Pickett In New Role

Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Matt Canada has been promoted to a "prominent role" that will allow him to work more directly with quarterback Kenny Pickett, per NFL insider Jordan Schultz. Canada will continue to call plays on offense. This move was presumably sparked by a slow start to the season in which Pickett has completed just 46 of 76 passes for 454 yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions.

Kenny Pickett Hopes To Find Success Against Raiders

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett has struggled early in the 2023 campaign but will look to capitalize on a soft matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 3. The Raiders have surrendered the 10th-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks so far this season after allowing the sixth-most in 2022. Although Pickett will once again be without his top target, Diontae Johnson (hamstring), George Pickens showcased his abilities in Week 2 and should continue to be a reliable option for the young signal-caller. Pickett could turn in a worthwhile fantasy performance on Sunday night, but he should only be considered a low-end QB2 in superflex formats.

Steelers Won't Make "Knee Jerk Reactions" With OC Matt Canada

The Steelers offense has struggled mightily through the first two weeks of the 2023 season, leading fans at Acrisure Stadium to call for offensive coordinator Matt Canada‘s firing during Monday’s eventual win over the Browns. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin acknowledged the offense’s struggles and admitted to hearing the fans’ “Fire Canada” chant, but he […]
Sep 22 · Pro Football Rumors Steelers Kenny PickettKenny Pickett Mediocre In Week 2 Victory

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett completed 15 of his 30 pass attempts for 222 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in a Week 2 victory over the Cleveland Browns. Pickett's struggles from the season opener continued on Monday night as Pittsburgh's defense scored more points than its offense. The 25-year-old did complete a strike while under pressure to receiver George Pickens, who picked up over 50 yards after the catch for a 71-yard touchdown. Although Pickett has not yet shown much improvement in his second campaign, he has faced two of 2022's top-10 defenses against fantasy quarterbacks to open the season. A much more favorable matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders is on tap for Week 3.

Kenny Pickett - Week 2 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett opened the 2023 campaign with a rough start but will hope to bounce back in a Week 2 divisional matchup with the Cleveland Browns. In his one career start against the Browns, Pickett passed for 195 yards and a touchdown while leading the Steelers to a 28-14 victory. This week, he'll try to repeat that success without his primary target, Diontae Johnson (hamstring), against a Cleveland defense that just limited Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals to three points. Fantasy managers would be wise to look elsewhere for quarterback production as Pickett should not enter starting lineups this week.

Kenny Pickett Struggles In Week 1 Loss

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett completed 31 of his 46 pass attempts for 232 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions in a 30-7 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. He added four rushing yards on one carry. After an impressive preseason, Pickett failed to deliver in the first contest of his second NFL campaign. Although San Francisco's stout defense certainly did not make things easy, Pickett missed open receivers on multiple occasions. His passing score came at the end of the second quarter on a three-yard strike to tight end Pat Freiermuth, but Pickett was unable to carry any momentum into the second half. The 25-year-old remains off the fantasy radar for now but will look to redeem himself in a Week 2 divisional bout with the Cleveland Browns.

Kenny Pickett Draws Tough Matchup In Season Opener

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett will open his second professional season in a Week 1 home matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. Pickett showed signs of great improvement throughout the preseason but will have his work cut out for him against a stout 49ers defense that allowed the ninth-fewest fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks in 2022. Although Pickett's fantasy output will be worth monitoring in the coming weeks, he should only be considered viable in superflex formats as a low-end QB2 on Sunday.

Kenny Pickett Closes Impressive Preseason With Another Solid Outing

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett completed all four of his pass attempts for 86 yards in the team's 24-0 preseason victory over the Atlanta Falcons. Pickett once again played on just two drives but led the offense to touchdowns on both. On the first series of the contest, Pickett connected on deep balls to receivers Diontae Johnson and George Pickens that set up an eventual rushing score by Najee Harris. All in all, it's been an impressive preseason for the second-year pro, who is poised to improve on a disappointing rookie campaign. Pickett will likely go undrafted in the majority of one-QB fantasy leagues but is gaining momentum as a potential QB2 in Superflex formats.

Kenny Pickett To Start Preseason Finale

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett will start the team's preseason finale on Thursday night against the Atlanta Falcons. Coach Mike Tomlin announced that Pickett will play alongside healthy regular starters. The second-year signal caller has been impressive through two preseason contests. He led the Steelers on two touchdown drives in the first quarter against Buffalo last week. Pickett will most likely remain a streaming option for fantasy managers in 2023. He does not need to be drafted in standard-sized leagues but is worth a look in deeper formats.

Kenny Pickett Efficient On Two Drives In Preseason Win

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett completed three of his four pass attempts for 43 yards and a touchdown in the team's 27-15 victory over the Buffalo Bills. Pickett impressed with the starters for a second consecutive week and led Pittsburgh's offense on two touchdown drives in the first quarter. His passing score came on a 25-yard strike over the middle of the field to tight end Pat Freiermuth, giving the Steelers an early 14-0 advantage. The 25-year-old has shown signs of improvement heading into his second season and could become an interesting fantasy QB2 in 2023.

Kenny Pickett Looks Sharp In Preseason Victory

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett completed six of his seven pass attempts for 70 yards and a touchdown in the team's 27-17 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Pickett made sure to spread the ball around on his only drive of the contest, connecting with Diontae Johnson, Pat Freiermuth, and Najee Harris before eventually hitting George Pickens in stride for a 33-yard score. This was a promising first look at Pickett's potential in his second professional season, but the 25-year-old can only be considered a low-end fantasy QB2 for the time being.

Kenny Pickett To Play First Series

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett is scheduled to play the first series during the preseason opener versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Friday. This isn't shocking considering most starters don't play very long in the beginning of the preseason. The 25-year-old is entering his first full season as the Steelers starting quarterback. He showed flashes during his rookie campaign, but the organization is hopeful he can take a bigger step forward in 2022. The rest of the Steelers backup quarterbacks should share the workload after Pickett is done.

Kenny Pickett To Start In Preseason Opener

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett will start Friday's preseason opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Pickett will start, but he's unlikely to play a ton in this one. The 25-year-old is entering his first full season as Pittsburgh's starting signal-caller, and he has been looking good in training camp this summer. He showed some flashes of playmaking abilities in his 13 games (12 starts) in 2022, throwing for 2,404 yards, seven touchdowns and nine interceptions. The first-rounder can run a bit and has the weapons to take the next step in his sophomore season. However, the Steelers are expected to remain pretty committed to the run, and his fantasy ceiling figures to be relatively low. Pickett is in play as a low-end QB2 with some upside in two-QB formats.

Offseason In Review: Pittsburgh Steelers

Last season marked the beginning of the post-Ben Roethlisberger era in Pittsburgh, as well as Omar Khan's first year in the general manager role. A slow start seemed to threaten an end to the team's 19-year streak of non-losing seasons, but a strong stretch after the bye week resulted in a 9-8 record. That was […]

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett has reportedly been making good reads early in training camp. That's good news after Pickett had a shaky rookie season in Pittsburgh. He completed 63.0 percent of his passes for 2,404 yards, seven touchdowns and nine interceptions in 13 games. Pickett was only able to top 200 passing yards in four of his 13 games last season. He enters camp as the clear-cut starter in Pittsburgh. He'll be somewhat limited in what will likely be a run-heavy offense. However, the reviews are sounding good early in camp, so hopefully Pickett has a better sophomore campaign. He'll need to show more before he becomes a reliable fantasy contributor.

Kenny Pickett Continues To Receive Positive Reviews

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett has gotten plenty of positive press during the offseason. Defensive lineman Larry Ogunjobi stated he's seen "true growth" from the young signal-caller. Wide receiver Allen Robinson also chimed in during an interview on SiriusXM NFL Radio, praising the 2022 first-round selection for his leadership and work ethic. Pickett finished his inaugural campaign by throwing for 2,404 yards, seven touchdowns, and nine interceptions. He added three scores using his legs while completing 63% of his attempts. It's reasonable to assume the 25-year-old will improve. However, he has a long way to go before becoming a consistently reliable fantasy option.
