Rachaad White Could Struggle Against Eagles

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Rachaad White struggled during the season opener, but looked much better in Week 2. Last week, White topped over 100 total yards and scored a touchdown in the victory over the Chicago Bears. The Bucs have made it known they want to pound the ball with White. He has 17 rushing attempts in both games to start the season. The expectation is that the Bucs are going to continue giving him the ball. However, White is likely to struggle versus the Philadelphia Eagles defense in Week 3. A defensive unit that has allowed the fifth fewest fantasy points to running backs this season. That being said, fantasy managers should consider White a possible flex option for this upcoming matchup.

Buccaneers RB Chase Edmonds Facing Multi-Week Absence

The Buccaneers improved to 2-0 on Sunday, but their running backs room was dealt a blow in the process. Chase Edmonds suffered an MCL sprain, reports NFL insider Jordan Schultz. Schultz notes that Edmonds suffered a grade 2 sprain, and will miss between four and six weeks as a result. That timeline would open the door to […]
Sep 18 · Pro Football Rumors Buccaneers Chase Edmonds Sean Tucker Rachaad WhiteRachaad White - Week 2 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Rachaad White is coming off a lackluster performance during the season opener. The second-year back saw a team-high 17 rushing attempts, but was unable to do much with it. White finished with 38 rushing yards, while adding two receptions for an additional 10 yards. The assumption is that the Bucs are going to continue giving White a high usage. The hope is that he does better on the ground versus the Chicago Bears in Week 2. The Bucs don't have many reliable options behind White, so the expectation is that they will give him 15-plus carries every game. That being said, he should be considered a low-end RB2 for this upcoming matchup.

Rachaad White Rushes 17 Times

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Rachaad White was the clear lead back during Sunday's Week 1 win over the Minnesota Vikings. The 24-year-old rushed a team-high 17 times for 38 yards, while adding two receptions for 10 additional yards through the air. The volume was there for White, but he struggled to do much with the carries. White averaged 2.3 yards per carry, but the high volume shows the team does have faith in him. The assumption is that he'll continue to get plenty of carries going forward. Fantasy managers should consider White a RB2 for the Week 2 matchup against the Chicago Bears.

Offseason In Review: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Sticking with their all-in approach around Tom Brady a year too long, the Buccaneers still benefited considerably from their 2020 free agency coup. The franchise added a second Super Bowl title and saw Brady display better form in 2021. Brady’s unretirement helped the Bucs stay atop the NFC South, but it took a historically terrible […]

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Rachaad White appears to have claimed the lead back role on this offense. The 24-year-old is coming off a rookie season where he rushed for 481 yards, while also hauling in 50 receptions for an additional 290 yards through the air in 17 games. He did all that while being the backup to Leonard Fournette for a majority of the season. The expectation is that White is going to be a much more reliable fantasy option with an increased workload. The second-year back will get the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1. A defense that often times struggled to contain opposing running backs last season. That being said, White has RB2 upside heading into the season opener.

Rachaad White Should See An Increase In Touches

The Athletic's Dan Pompei points out a number of factors that suggest that Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Rachaad White will see a significant increase in touches in 2023. He had just 129 carries in his rookie season in 2022 for a Bucs offense that finished last in the league in rushing attempts with Tom Brady at quarterback. With Baker Mayfield now running the offense, Tampa is fully expected to run more often, and new offensive coordinator Dave Canales has a history of run-oriented approaches. Veteran Leonard Fournette is also gone, so White has very little competition for touches. The 24-year-old's pass-catching abilities could make him a true three-down back. But in an offense that's expected to be inconsistent with Mayfield at the helm, White's fantasy upside as an RB2 may be somewhat limited.

Bucs Backfield A Committee Behind Rachaad White

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Rachaad White is the team's lead back entering the 2023 regular season, but it's looking like a committee behind him between Chase Edmonds, Ke'Shawn Vaughn and rookie Sean Tucker. Running backs coach Skip Peete has frequently rotated multiple backs at his other NFL stops. "Chase, I know, can do some of the pass game stuff where I feel like Sneak and Sean have a lot of value on first and second down as runners, but so does Chase. There is still a lot of stuff that I'm really not sure about to get the full complement of who [our] backfield is in a game-type of situation. You'd love to have the freshest back in -; I do know that," offensive coordinator Dave Canales said.

Rachaad White Gets Hurt During Practice

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Rachaad White (leg) had a scary incident happen after taking a handoff during Sunday's practice. The 24-year-old buckled and fell without contact and came up limping. He was able to walk off under his own power and received attention from the trainers. Luckily, it appears White has avoided any significant injuries. Head coach Todd Bowles said the incident scared White more than anything and that he should be fine going forward.

The Bucs let go of veteran back Leonard Fournette to give White a chance to take over. Here's where the Bucs run game sits.
Aug 3 · ESPN Buccaneers Leonard Fournette Rachaad WhiteRachaad White Receives Praise From Offensive Coordinator

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Rachaad White can handle a three-down workload and has received praise from offensive coordinator Dave Canales. "I am just waiting to see some live bullet play from him, but I mean he is just so natural," said Canales. "Everything he does, the run game, the pass game, pass protection, and routes. He is really a natural with both hands catching the ball." White has inside/outside versatility and effectiveness as both a pass protector and a pass-catcher. His well-rounded skill set will make him the team's featured back in 2023, despite the presence of Chase Edmonds and Ke'Shawn Vaughn. White didn't impress all that much as a rookie with 3.7 yards per carry, but he also had 50 receptions. As the main fixture in Tampa's offense this year, White is a solid target for fantasy managers on the RB2/3 borderline.

Rachaad White To See Heavy Workload

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler writes that Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Rachaad White is an intriguing fantasy play going into the 2023 season. Tampa's offense values using multiple backs, with Chase Edmonds and Ke'Shawn Vaughn in complementary roles, but it's White's show. He will get a heavy rushing workload, and the team has been expanding his route tree as well, believing he can do damage as a receiver. The Buccaneers see star potential in White as a smooth do-it-all option. The 24-year-old isn't going to be all that attractive to fantasy managers as a player on the RB2/3 borderline after his unimpressive rookie year, but he could be a sleeper at the position if he's more involved as a passer and becomes more efficient on the ground with more volume.

Rachaad White Wants To Surpass 1,000 Yards

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Rachaad White should see a bigger role on the offense next season. The 24-year-old was stuck as the backup to Leonard Fournette throughout most of his rookie season. Despite that, White rushed for 481 yards and hauled in 290 yards as a receiver. The former third-round pick believes he can surpass 1,000 rushing yards next season. If he does, it'll be the first time a Buccaneer has done that since Doug Martin in 2015. In theory, White should be able to achieve this goal with Fournette no longer on the roster. Chase Edmonds is basically the only competition to White, which means White should be the lead back. The Bucs are likely going to go run-heavy with Baker Mayfield or Kyle Trask under center. White is looking like a possible breakout candidate heading into next season.
