  • Jahan Dotson Catches Two Passes In Blowout Loss To Cowboys

    Headshot for Jahan Dotson

Washington Commanders wide receiver Jahan Dotson concluded his disappointing second season in the NFL with just two receptions on three targets for 17 yards in Sunday's 38-10 blowout loss to the Dallas Cowboys in the final game of the regular season. It was an improvement following his third zero-catch game of the year in Week 17 in the loss to the San Francisco 49ers, but Dotson was ultimately a big disappointment in 2023 after many fantasy experts predicted a breakout season in his second year in the league. He totaled 49 receptions on 83 targets for 518 yards and four touchdowns in 17 games, a slight step back from when he had a 35-523-7 line in 12 games as a rookie. Dotson and the rest of Washington's offense suffered from quarterback Sam Howell's struggles, and it could be an uphill battle for fantasy relevance again in 2024 with a new coaching staff coming in to replace Ron Rivera.

  • Jahan Dotson Offers No Intrigue Against Dallas

    Headshot for Jahan Dotson

Washington Commanders wide receiver Jahan Dotson offers little intrigue during Week 18. This week, the Commanders will be taking on the Dallas Cowboys. While that is a tough opponent for Washington, the matchup doesn't matter for Dotson, as he's not seeing much opportunity in this offense, anyway. Despite appearing in four more games this year than he did as a rookie, the second-year receiver still hasn't surpassed his receiving yardage total from last season. Maybe he'll bounce back next year, but for now, Dotson is not a player who should be trusted for the final week of the regular season.

  • Jahan Dotson Puts Up A Donut In Week 17

    Headshot for Jahan Dotson

Washington Commanders wide receiver Jahan Dotson wasn't a strong play in Week 17 against the San Francisco 49ers and their smothering defense. In the 27-10 loss, Dotson only saw one target in the passing game and didn't come down with it. The 23-year-old was picked by many to have a breakout in his second NFL season, but it hasn't come. He's mostly been underwhelming with 47 receptions on 80 targets for 501 yards and four touchdowns in 16 games played. Veteran Curtis Samuel has taken valuable targets and production away from Dotson in a pass-happy Commanders offense, as well as Terry McLaurin. Since his last touchdown reception in Week 11, Dotson has only 10 catches on 17 targets for 118 yards and no scores. The former first-rounder is impossible to trust in fantasy lineups for a Week 18 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.

  • Jahan Dotson Not A Reliable Starter Against San Francisco

    Headshot for Jahan Dotson

Washington Commanders wide receiver Jahan Dotson is not a player most should rely on heading into a Week 17 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. In his last three games, the second-year receiver hasn't topped three receptions once while looking like more of a role player for Washington. To make matters worse, starting quarterback Jacoby Brissett (hamstring) might not be available for this game. That would put struggling quarterback Sam Howell back in the driver's seat while downgrading the outlooks for all weapons in this offense. Even if Brissett suits up, Dotson is a player who should remain on waivers during Week 17.

  • Jahan Dotson Not A Good Option In Week 16

    Headshot for Jahan Dotson

Washington Commanders wide receiver Jahan Dotson should not be in starting lineups in Week 16. This week, the Commanders are taking on the New York Jets, a team currently allowing the fewest fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers this season. Not only is the matchup an issue, but Dotson doesn't even see consistent enough usage to be considered a semi-reliable option. Considering the tough matchup and lack of usage for most of this season, you're likely in trouble if you have to rely on Dotson during the fantasy playoffs in Week 16.

  • Jahan Dotson Posts Just One Catch Against Rams

    Headshot for Jahan Dotson

Washington Commanders wide receiver Jahan Dotson earned just one target, catching it for 12 yards in the team's loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Washington was largely unable to stop Los Angeles in the first half and didn't string together any successful drives themselves. That led to a 20-0 hole, which, in theory, should have benefited Dotson. He didn't see his first target until midway through the fourth quarter when the Commanders switched from Sam Howell to backup Jacoby Brissett. The latter propelled Terry McLaurin and Curtis Samuel to big games in limited time, but Dotson remained an afterthought. He now ranks third on the team in targets this season and does not need to be rostered in redraft formats.

  • Jahan Dotson Only A Desperation Play Against Rams

    Headshot for Jahan Dotson

Washington Commanders wide receiver Jahan Dotson has been tough to rely on this season, and it should be more of the same in Week 15. This week, the Commanders are heading on the road to take on the Los Angeles Rams. With the Rams having a strong offense, the Commanders will likely need to rely on the pass to keep up once again. Although Washington has been the most pass-heavy team in the NFL this season, the distribution of targets has been too unpredictable. So, while Dotson could pay off, he should only be considered an option for managers in desperate situations. Consider the second-year wideout a low-end flex in Week 15.

  • Jahan Dotson Disappears Against Miami

    Headshot for Jahan Dotson

Washington Commanders wide receiver Jahan Dotson caught two of his five targets for 23 yards in the team's 45-15 blowout loss to the Miami Dolphins. The Commanders, unsurprisingly, fell behind quickly to one of the best offenses in the league. Instead of throwing to try and catch up, Ron Rivera stayed committed to the running game. Sam Howell only ended up throwing 23 passes, completing 12 of them. The Commanders take their bye in Week 14 (the final bye week of the season). Dotson has been a disappointment for the majority of the season and does not need to be rostered through the bye in standard-sized leagues. The Rams, Jets, and 49ers are on the schedule when they return to play.

  • Jahan Dotson A Risky Play In Week 13

    Headshot for Jahan Dotson

Washington Commanders wide receiver Jahan Dotson is a risky play in Week 13 against the Miami Dolphins. For the Commanders, this matchup offers an outlook similar to their Week 12 game against the Dallas Cowboys. With their lackluster defense, there is a solid chance they fall behind early and rely on their pass game to keep up. That could mean good things for Dotson, but he's been hard to rely on as a consistent option due to his sporadic usage while regressing to the third option in Washington's wide receiver room. Although he has some upside in a likely negative game script, the second-year receiver offers too much risk. Consider him a low-end flex in Week 13.
