Desmond Ridder Throws For Over 200 Yards In Week 3

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Desmond Ridder threw for 201 yards off 21-for-38 passing during the loss to the Lions in Week 3. He added two carries for three yards. The signal-caller hasn't had a quality season, and although he didn't have a horrible showing in Week 3, it was still a disappointment. With the Falcons losing their first game of the season on Sunday, Ridder and company will look to bounce back versus the Jaguars in London. However, he still hasn't done enough to justify his presence in fantasy lineups.

Desmond Ridder Has A Good Matchup In Week 3

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Desmond Ridder will be facing a Detroit Lions defense in Week 3 on the road that has allowed 25.1 fantasy points per game (fifth-most) to the QB position through two weeks. They also just placed star safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson (pectoral) on Injured Reserve. Ridder hasn't set the world on fire in his first two games, and he's only attempted 50 passes, completing 34 of them for 352 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He's added 11 carries for 38 yards and another score. The 24-year-old hasn't looked all that sharp, but he's done enough to get the Falcons two wins in the early going. Ridder is going to continue having his ups and downs as a passer in his first year as the full-time starter, so even though he's going against a porous defense this week, he should be considered a low-end QB2 in a run-first offense.

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Desmond Ridder passed for 237 yards, one touchdown, and one interception during the win over the Packers. He added 10 carries for 39 yards and a touchdown. The signal-caller threw the ball 18 times in Week 1. However, he was more involved in this one, helping keep his team unbeaten. That said, Ridder's performance in Week 2 demonstrates he might be used more than expected throughout the 2023-24 campaign. But he has a long way to go before becoming a reliable fantasy option. Keep him benched in Week 3 versus the Detroit Lions.

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Desmond Ridder turned in a slow game in a Week 1 win over the Carolina Panthers. Operating in a run-heavy Atlanta offense, Ridder attempted just 18 passes. His lack of pass attempts doesn't inspire much confidence in him from a fantasy perspective heading into a Week 2 matchup against the Green Bay Packers. The Packers did a nice job limiting Justin Fields in Week 1 and could do the same against Ridder this weekend. He should not be in fantasy lineups for Week 2.

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Desmond Ridder finished with 115 yards and a touchdown off 15-for-18 passing during the win over Carolina. He added one carry for negative yardage. The signal-caller didn't do much for fantasy managers in Week 1, as the team relied on Tyler Allgeier and Bijan Robinson to do most of the heavy lifting. But as long as Ridder avoids mistakes, he could emerge as a viable fantasy option at some point down the line. For now, fantasy participants should keep him benched in Week 2 against the Packers.

Last night's game between the Atlanta Falcons and the Cincinnati Bengals saw Atlanta Falcons quarterback Desmond Ridder perform excellently. He completed 7 out of 9 passes for 80 yards, with one interception and one rushing attempt that gained him 7 yards. Unfortunately, his interception resulted from a tipped pass, and a flag could have been thrown for it. In the final preseason game, Ridder will play against Pittsburgh at home.

Desmond Ridder Won't Play In Preseason Opener

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Desmond Ridder will not play in the team's preseason opener on Friday night against the Miami Dolphins, according to a source. With Ridder not playing, Logan Woodside will see a lot of Atlanta's QB repetitions on Friday. Ridder is heading into his second NFL season as the full-time starter. In his rookie campaign in 2022, he completed 63.5 percent of his 115 pass attempts for 708 yards, only two touchdowns and no interceptions in his four starts. The 23-year-old doesn't have great passing weapons beyond Drake London and Kyle Pitts, and the Falcons will surely lean heavily on first-round running back Bijan Robinson. Expect more growing pains from Ridder. He should only be rostered in deep two-QB leagues and dynasty/keeper formats in 2023.
