Trey McBride Arrives In Week 13 Upset Win

Arizona Cardinals tight-end Trey McBride hauled in eight catches for 89 yards and a touchdown in the team's 24-10 Week 13 win over Pittsburgh. McBride has arrived, as he had six more catches, six more targets, and 68 more receiving yards on the day than any other player in the Arizona offense. It was an excellent performance highlighted by three catches of at least 15 yards, including a five-yard TD just before halftime. Since quarterback Kyler Murray returned, McBride has at least 60 receiving yards in three of four contests and appears to be attempting to make a run at upper-tier status for the position by the end of the year. McBride and the rest of the Cardinals will have a Week 14 bye before a tough Week 15 showdown against the 49ers.

Quarterback Kyler Murray (knee) is expected to make his long-awaited season debut, and that alone should help McBride succeed. Add to it the fact that the Falcons have allowed the tenth-highest number of fantasy points per game to tight ends, and the opportunity is there for McBride to get back to TE1 status. Fantasy managers should start him with confidence.

McBride is a very talented TE and currently ranks fifth in receiving grade and second in YPRR, second only to Travis Kelce. In Week 9, he is set to match up against a Cleveland pass defense that has been far less effective against the position. With the Cardinals set to start a rookie quarterback in Clayton Tune, odds are good McBride will be the main check-down option for the young signal caller. With that in mind, McBride is quickly rising the ranks and should be a TE1 for the week.
