John Metchie III Recovering From Hamstring Strain
Houston Texans wide receiver John Metchie III (hamstring) is recovering from a strained hamstring and has been sidelined for the past several weeks at offseason practices, according to league sources. However, he's on track to make a full recovery by training camp at the end of July after suffering the soft-tissue injury during a workout earlier this spring. The former second-rounder missed his entire rookie season after being diagnosed with a treatable form of leukemia. By all accounts, he's made an outstanding recovery after being diagnosed last July. The 22-year-old can be ignored in most fantasy formats, as he'll be competing for snaps alongside Robert Woods, Nico Collins, Noah Brown and Nathaniel Dell this summer.

Texans John MetchieJohn Metchie III A Full Participant In Phase 1 Of Offseason Program
Houston Texans general manager Nick Caserio said that wide receiver John Metchie III (illness) was a full participant in Phase 1 of the team's offseason program. Metchie didn't play at all last year due to Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia, but he's trending in the right direction to get back on the field for the 2023 regular season. We'll keep a close eye on the 22-year-old's progress as training camp in July approaches, but with Brandin Cooks now out of the picture in Houston, Metchie will have an opportunity to carve out a role for the Texans while taking passes from rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud. Metchie will be battling for targets among Robert Woods, Nico Collins and Noah Brown. He's a name to monitor, but he'll likely be left to the waiver wire to begin the season in standard 12-team leagues.

The Houston Texans selected wide receiver Nathaniel Dell out of Houston with the No. 69 overall pick in the third round of the 2023 NFL draft on Friday night. The Texans already added their future quarterback, C.J. Stroud, in the first round, and they now add a weapon for the rookie signal-caller. At five-foot-eight, 165 pounds, he's a small, speedy pass-catcher that will compete with Nico Collins and John Metchie for targets. The Texans don't project to be a high-scoring offense, but given the minimal competition, Dell could be worth a flier in drafts, particularly in dynasty formats.

Houston Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans said that Metchie (illness) said John Metchi III will be involved with the team's offseason program. He missed all of last season after being diagnosed with Leukemia. The 22-year-old continues to progress in his recovery, and the Texans are optimistic he will return this season. "At the right time, when the season comes, we'll see where he is," said Ryans. The Texans have Robert Woods, Nico Collins, Noah Brown, Amari Rodgers, and Metchieon Houston's wide receiver depth chart. Metchie caught 96 passes for 1,142 yards and eight touchdowns in 13 games in his junior year at Alabama and should have a vital role in the Texans' offense when he returns to the field.
