Browns RB Nick Chubb Undergoes First Knee Surgery; 2024 Return In Play

Nick Chubb‘s long road to recovery began earlier this week, undergoing surgery to address, among other things, the MCL tear he suffered in Week 2. The team announced on Saturday that his procedure – performed the day prior – was a success. The Friday operation was scheduled in the wake of Chubb being learned to […]
Oct 1 · Pro Football Rumors Browns Nick Chubb Jerome Ford Kareem HuntJerome Ford Looks Good To Go For Week 4

After putting in a limited practice on Wednesday, Cleveland Browns running back Jerome Ford (shoulder) was a full-go in Thursday's session, putting him on track to be available for the Week 4 contest against the visiting Baltimore Ravens this weekend. Kareem Hunt (groin, ribs) was also able to return to practice after missing Wednesday's session, so Cleveland's backfield should be fully healthy for Week 4. The 24-year-old Ford will continue to lose some touches to Hunt, but he should continue to be the team's primary back with RB2 upside in fantasy lineups. In his first three games (one start) in 2023, Ford has 41 carries for 160 yards and a touchdown while adding five catches for 58 yards and two more scores through the air.

Jerome Ford An RB2 In Week 4

Cleveland Browns running back Jerome Ford (shoulder) has scored three touchdowns over his past two games. The second-year running back will look to keep the hot streak going in Week 4's home matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. Ford popped up on the injury report on Wednesday as a limited participant in practice but he was upgraded to a full practice on Thursday, seemingly putting him in line to suit up on Sunday. If he were to suffer a setback and ultimately not play this weekend, Kareem Hunt and possibly Pierre Strong Jr. would both be in line for larger roles. For now, fantasy managers can pencil Ford in as an RB2 for Week 4, but be sure to check back on Friday's post-practice injury report. He should find room to run against a Baltimore defense that is allowing the 17th-most fantasy points per game to opposing running backs through three games.

Jerome Ford Limited On Wednesday

Cleveland Browns running back Jerome Ford (shoulder) was listed as a limited practice participant on Wednesday. Ford apparently suffered a shoulder injury in the Week 3 win over the Tennessee Titans and could be questionable to play in Week 4 at home against the division-rival Baltimore Ravens. Still, the fact he practiced at all to begin the week probably means his injury isn't all that serious. The 23-year-old has looked great the last two games filling in for the injured Nick Chubb (knee), who will miss the rest of the year. Ford has 26 carries for 124 yards and a touchdown while adding five catches for 58 additional yards and two more touchdowns through the air, so he'll remain a must-start for fantasy managers as an RB2 as long as he doesn't miss any time due to injury.

Jerome Ford Finds The End Zone Twice In Week 3

Cleveland Browns running back Jerome Ford carried the ball 10 times for 18 yards and a touchdown while adding another 33 yards and a score on two catches in a 27-3 win over the Tennessee Titans in Week 3. Ford has now found the end zone in consecutive games as he operates as the Browns' lead back with Nick Chubb sidelined for the season. Ford scored Cleveland's first touchdown in the second quarter on a 19-yard pass from Deshaun Watson and later crossed the goal line again on a three-yard run in the third quarter. Even with Kareem Hunt in the mix, Ford is settling in as an upside RB2 in fantasy moving forward. He will face off against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 4.

RB Jerome Ford To Start In Cleveland Over Kareem Hunt

The Browns had operated with a one-two punch at running back for the past few years in Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt and, after Chubb’s season-ending knee injury, the two will share a position room, once again. Cleveland brought Hunt back into the fold after a six-month stay on the free agent market, hoping that […]
Sep 23 · Pro Football Rumors Browns Jerome Ford Kareem Hunt Pierre StrongJerome Ford Looks For Encore In Week 3

Cleveland Browns running back Jerome Ford filled in nicely in Week 2 after his team lost Nick Chubb for the season due to a major knee injury. Ford found the end zone on a reception and set the team up for another score with a 69-yard run down to the Pittsburgh one-yard line. He will look to repeat that success in Week 3's home matchup against the Tennessee Titans, although he may have a hard time doing so against a stout run defense. The Titans can be beat through the air but they are allowing the second-fewest fantasy points per game to opposing running backs through the first two games of the season. Fantasy gamers who picked Ford up off of waivers are likely anxious to insert him into their starting lineups but he is best left on the bench until a better matchup presents itself.

Browns Reiterate That Jerome Ford Is Their Lead Back

Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski reiterated on Wednesday that running back Jerome Ford "is the lead back." As expected, Cleveland reunited with Kareem Hunt on a one-year deal after Nick Chubb suffered a gruesome season-ending knee injury in the Monday night loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Ford looked great in relief of Chubb on Monday, totaling 106 yards and a receiving touchdown in the 26-22 loss. The 24-year-old should have been the top waiver-wire priority for fantasy managers this week. It remains to be seen what kind of shape Hunt is in, and if anything, he'll be a threat to Ford mainly on passing downs out of the backfield. The Browns also have Pierre Strong Jr. Heading into Week 3 against the Tennessee Titans, Ford is an immediate plug-and-play in starting fantasy lineups.

Browns Looking To Add Running Back Behind Jerome Ford

Cleveland Browns running back Jerome Ford will step in as the team's featured ball carrier after the season-ending knee injury sustained by Nick Chubb in Week 2, according to head coach Kevin Stefanski. However, the team is still looking to add a player to its running back room consisting of Ford and Pierre Strong Jr. Ford remains a top waiver wire option after posting over 100 yards in the loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, and he should retain plenty of value whether the team adds a notable running back or not. Signing a free agent like Kareem Hunt or Leonard Fournette or trading for Cam Akers are potential options for Cleveland.

Jerome Ford Tops 100 Yards, Scores TD In Week 2

Cleveland Browns running back Jerome Ford carried the ball 16 times for 106 yards and added three catches for 25 yards and a touchdown in a 26-22 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2. Starting running back Nick Chubb suffered a serious, season-ending knee injury in the first half, opening the door for Ford to see extra work. He took advantage, hauling in Deshaun Watson's lone touchdown pass and later setting the Browns up for another score with a 69-yard run down to the Pittsburgh one-yard line. Ford is a priority waiver add this week as he is expected to become Cleveland's new starting running back moving forward.

Nick Chubb Suffers Multiple Ligament Tears, Expected To Miss Rest Of Season

Nick Chubb‘s injury is expected to sideline him for the rest of the season. The standout Browns running back is believed to have suffered multiple ligament tears, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reports. It is not known which ligaments are torn, but the cart coming out to transport Chubb off the field in Pittsburgh — and […]
Sep 19 · Pro Football Rumors Browns Nick Chubb Jerome Ford Pierre StrongJerome Ford Busy In Week 1 Win

Cleveland Browns running back Jerome Ford carried the ball 15 times for 36 yards and lost a fumble in a 24-3 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1. Ford finished just three carries behind Nick Chubb, although eight of those carries came on the final two drives of the game after the contest was out of hand. That being said, Ford is clearly established as the RB2 in Cleveland and showed no ill effects of a preseason hamstring injury in the game. He needs to be rostered as a handcuff in all leagues in case there is an injury in front of him.

Jerome Ford Returns To Practice

Cleveland Browns running back Jerome Ford (hamstring) was able to get back on the practice field on Thursday. The 23-year-old has been banged up lately due to a lingering hamstring issue. It sounds like Ford is feeling better now and is in line for the regular season opener versus the Cincinnati Bengals. Ford is expected to serve as the change-of-pace back behind Nick Chubb. Ford only rushed the ball eight times last season, so his workload is limited. He probably won't be worth the gamble for many fantasy managers to begin the season.

Browns Acquire Pierre Strong Jr. From Patriots

The Cleveland Browns acquired running back Pierre Strong Jr. from the New England Patriots on Sunday in exchange for offensive tackle Tyrone Wheatley Jr., according to sources. The move gives Cleveland some more backfield depth behind workhorse Nick Chubb. It's bad news for Jerome Ford, who was set to a bigger role as Chubb's primary backup in 2023. Strong will compete with Ford and Demetric Felton Jr. for touches in the Browns backfield. Back in New England, the trade of Strong likely means second-year back Kevin Harris will be the Patriots' No. 3 behind Rhamondre Stevenson and Ezekiel Elliott this year.

Browns Hope Jerome Ford Will Be Ready For Week 1

Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said running back Jerome Ford (hamstring) won't practice at training camp this week. However, Ford is making progress and the hope is that he'll be ready for the Sept. 10 regular season opener. When healthy, the 23-year-old is set to serve as Nick Chubb's primary backup this season, which will at least make him a handcuff option in fantasy drafts. Behind Ford, the Browns have Demetric Felton, John Kelly, Hassan Hall and Jordan Wilkins in their RB room. Ford, a fifth-round pick in 2022, was limited to mostly special-teams work as a rookie as a kick returner. He carried the ball just eight times for 12 yards in 13 games and didn't see a target in the passing game.

Jerome Ford Considered Week-To-Week

Cleveland Browns running back Jerome Ford (hamstring) is being labeled week-to-week, so he is likely to miss a good chunk of the team's remaining preseason practices and games. The 23-year-old suffered a hamstring injury on Monday. In his absence, Demetric Felton Jr. and John Kelly Jr. should see more action behind Nick Chubb. Ford is a popular handcuff RB sleeper for 2023 fantasy football, so his status is well worth monitoring as the regular season draws closer. It will be interesting to see if Cleveland looks to add a veteran running back after his recent injury.

Jerome Ford Injured Monday

Cleveland Browns running back Jerome Ford (hamstring) left Monday's training camp practice with a hamstring injury. It's unclear as of right now how serious Ford's injury is, so until we know more, consider the 23-year-old to be day-to-day at camp. When healthy, he's expected to serve as Nick Chubb's primary backup in 2023, giving him fantasy value at least as a handcuff to Chubb. The fifth-rounder didn't see much action on offense in his rookie campaign in 2022, but that will change this year as long as he's healthy. If this hamstring injury jeopardizes his availability for the start of the regular season, Demetric Felton Jr. and John Kelly Jr. would see more offensive snaps behind Chubb.

Browns Express Confidence In Jerome Ford

Cleveland Browns running back Jerome Ford admitted how anxious he's been trying to learn from Nick Chubb this offseason. But with Kareem Hunt and D'Ernest Johnson no longer a part of the team and the franchise not making significant moves to replace them, the 23-year-old is seemingly the No. 2 option behind Chubb heading into the 2023-24 campaign. Of course, Demetric Felton Jr., John Kelly Jr., and Hassan Hall all saw work during the Hall of Fame game victory over the Jets. But Ford, selected in the fifth round in the 2022 NFL Draft, has received endorsements from those around him, including Chubb, so fantasy managers should consider him late in drafts, despite his limited NFL experience.

Jerome Ford Taking Steady Dose Of RB Reps

Cleveland Browns running back Jerome Ford has taken a steady dose of repetitions in the first few training camp practices at running back and has had chances to show his receiving abilities, which general manager Andrew Berry has praised. "A big reason that we drafted him in '22 was because of his ability as a receiver, and we think that he'll be able to play that role really well," Berry said. The 23-year-old Ford has a big opportunity for an increased role as the direct backup to Nick Chubb in 2023 now that both Kareem Hunt and D'Ernest Johnson are gone. Ford also has been working with the kick returners in practice and has plenty of value to the Browns this season. The second-year back will be a handcuff for those that draft Chubb a their RB1.

Jerome Ford Impressed As Pass Protector And Receiver In Spring

Cleveland Browns running back Jerome Ford is expected to be Nick Chubb's backup after the team moved on from Kareem Hunt this offseason. Chubb is one of the best pure rushers in the NFL, so an adequate passing-down back is an ideal player to back him up in 2023. "(We) feel really good about Jerome Ford and (he) had a strong spring (pass protection especially)", said Browns general manager Andrew Barry. "We think his receiver skills are strong. Will be competition behind him and remains to be seen who will emerge." This is a great sign for his chances to secure the RB2 job in what could be an ascending offense as Deshaun Watson continues to knock off rust. Assuming Ford holds down the backup spot, he could have plenty of standalone value in PPR leagues with receiving work. If Chubb has to miss any time, Ford could have major upside behind one of the league's best offensive lines. Unless the Browns add a veteran running back moving forward, it should be his job to lose.
