  • David Bell Could Play In Preseason Opener

Cleveland Browns rookie third-round wide receiver David Bell (foot), who returned from the Physically Unable to Perform list on Saturday, won't be ruled out from playing in the team's preseason opener next Friday against the Jacksonville Jaguars. "He's really intelligent," head coach Kevin Stefanski said of Bell. "He had a nice spring for us, moved him around in our formation and he picked it up pretty quickly. So we're excited about getting him back out here. Like anything, I want him to catch up real fast, and I know he does too. So he's excited to be back out here." Amari Cooper is Cleveland's clear No. 1 receiver, but Bell has an opportunity for a big role in his first NFL season. The 21-year-old will be catching passes from quarterback Jacoby Brissett for at least the first six games of the year, though, putting him off the fantasy radar in most standard-sized leagues to begin 2022.

  • David Bell Comes Off PUP List

The Cleveland Browns activated rookie wide receiver David Bell (foot) off the Physically Unable to Perform list on Saturday. The third-round pick out of Purdue was a consensus All-American in 2021 and is an intriguing prospect that could earn playing time early as a slot option for the Browns with Jarvis Landry now in New Orleans. Bell is returning from a stress fracture in his foot, so he's likely to be eased into training camp practices. Amari Cooper will be the team's clear No. 1 receiver, but Bell and Anthony Schwartz (knee) have opportunity to take on big roles this season, albeit in a run-first offense that will be without quarterback Deshaun Watson for at least six games. Bell probably will be left to the waiver wire in standard 12-team leagues to begin the season, but he's one to watch as the year progresses.

  • David Bell To Begin Camp On PUP List

Cleveland Browns rookie wide receiver David Bell (foot) is one of a small group of players who will begin training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list. Bell's foot injury isn't considered serious, though, and he should begin practicing with the team soon. The 21-year-old third-round pick impressed during organized team activities in the spring and could be the favorite to replace Jarvis Landry as the team's top weapon in the slot in 2022. He has a solid frame at 6-foot-1 and 212 pounds, but his fantasy value will all depend on how long quarterback Deshaun Watson is suspended this year. Bell will be an intriguing dynasty/keeper league target in fantasy drafts, but let's pump the breaks on his potential impact in 2022, especially since he's already starting behind in training camp.

  • David Bell Can Play Both Outside And Slot Roles

Cleveland Browns wide receiver David Bell could be seeing plenty of action in this offensive unit. The third-round rookie can play both outside and slot roles, according to head coach Kevin Stefanski. That being said, Bell could be a unique option for the Browns offense. They don't have a reliable No. 2 receiver to play behind Amari Cooper. The departure of Jarvis Landry leaves this team without another reliable pass catcher. Possibly, Bell steps up and becomes an important part of the Browns offense.

  • Browns Believe In David Bell

Cleveland Browns chief strategy officer Paul DePodesta revealed on draft weekend that head coach Kevin Stefanski was adamant about selecting wide receiver David Bell in the third round at No. 99 overall. "You can ask our GM. I was like, 'This day needs to end with David Bell on our team.' Just your ability to catch the ball, which I think is the best in the draft, your ability to get open and just who you are as a person, that fits who we are," Stefanski told Bell. The Browns are confident the first-team All-American from Purdue is capable of making an immediate impact, and they hope to use him as their primary slot receiver now that Jarvis Landry is with the Saints. The Browns have a run-first offense, but with Deshaun Watson now at quarterback, Bell could flourish with Amari Cooper and Donovan Peoples-Jones on the outside.

  • Browns Agree With Third-Rounder David Bell

The Cleveland Browns agreed to a four-year, $4.894 million deal with third-round wide receiver David Bell on Thursday, according to his agent. Bell put up impressive numbers at Purdue, but he's not very fast and could struggle at the next level. The 21-year-old could be an option out of the slot in his rookie season in Cleveland, with Amari Cooper the clear No. 1 on the outside for quarterback Deshaun Watson. Outside of Cooper, the Browns don't have a clear-cut No. 2, with Donovan Peoples-Jones, Anthony Schwartz and Jakeem Grant competing for targets. It's possible that Bell could be a decent dynasty league sleeper because of his big frame at 6-foot-1.
