Brock Purdy Tosses Four Touchdowns In Philly

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy threw for 314 yards and four touchdowns by completing 19 of 27 attempts in the team's impressive 42-19 victory at the Philadelphia Eagles. NFL fans saw what might have been if Purdy hadn't injured his elbow in the opening drive of last year's NFC Championship Game loss to the Eagles. By blowing out the team with the best record in the league, Purdy has rekindled some of the MVP talks that swirled around his name just before San Francisco's three-game losing streak. Though Purdy has established himself as a legitimate fantasy starter in standard leagues, his set of matchups moving forward includes decent pass defenses in the Cardinals and Seahawks and a tough one against Baltimore. But Purdy managers who make it to a Week 17 championship will have a tasty matchup against the league-worst Washington Commanders' pass defense, which just got shredded by Miami.

Brock Purdy A Strong Play In Philly

On Thanksgiving night, the San Francisco 49ers and quarterback Brock Purdy took care of business in Seattle as they rolled the Seahawks 31-13. Purdy's performance was a solid "real football" one as the 49ers' offense looked unstoppable at times, but his numbers were a fantasy disappointment. Along with a pick-six, Purdy barely threw for 200 yards and only one touchdown, finishing as the QB20. Sunday, Purdy returns to Philadelphia for the first time since his elbow injury deflated the 49ers in their opening offensive drive of the 2022 NFC Championship Game. The Eagles' defense has been shockingly generous to opposing quarterbacks in fantasy, allowing 21.5 points per game which is good for second-worst in the league. Chalk that number up to Philly's pass-funnel defense -- which gives up the third-fewest rushing yards per game -- and opponents chasing points against the third-best offense in the league. At the same time, it's unlikely that the 49ers will be immune to these trends, as the over/under stands at 48 points. Due to byes for a few top QB options and a potential shootout, elevate Purdy to upper mid-tier QB1 status in Week 13.

Brock Purdy Tosses One Touchdown, One Pick

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy led his team to a 31-13 victory over the Seahawks in Seattle on Thanksgiving night. However, it was a lackluster performance from a fantasy perspective, as Purdy completed 21 of 30 passes for 209 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Purdy entered the game having just completed two consecutive three-touchdown, zero-interception games but could not replicate them against Seattle. Nor did he need to. Running back Christian McCaffrey and wide receiver Deebo Samuel combined for three rushing touchdowns as Purdy led a dominant offensive unit down the field almost at will in the first half. The interception occurred on what was either a very inaccurate pass or one tipped at the line and went for a pick-six. The bigger concern for Purdy managers is San Francisco's ball-carriers, who are often so deadly in the red zone that it limits Purdy's scoring opportunities. He takes on the surprisingly vulnerable Eagles defense in Philadelphia in next Sunday's blockbuster matchup.

Brock Purdy A Back-End QB1 At Seattle

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy will take on the Seahawks in Seattle on Thanksgiving Night. In Week 11 versus Tampa Bay, Purdy had his second consecutive three-touchdown, zero-turnover performance. He appears to have turned the page after a disastrous three-game losing streak prior, in which he threw five second-half interceptions. In 2023, he's been a much better quarterback -- fantasy or otherwise -- when he isn't being asked to come from behind late. Seattle's pass defense has been hit-or-miss. In a Week 10 home matchup against Washington they allowed Sam Howell to put up 28.1 fantasy points but last week in Los Angeles held Matthew Stafford to 10.4 points, although WR1 Cooper Kupp missed most of the game with an injury. Purdy checks into Week 12 with all of his weapons healthy as a decent starting option in all league sizes.

Brock Purdy A Worthwhile Play Versus Bucs

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy will take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a home matchup on Sunday. The second-year signal-caller led his offense in Week 10 to a 34-3 win in Jacksonville by completing 19 of 26 attempts for 296 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions. Tampa Bay visits Levi's Stadium as the eighth most generous defense to fantasy quarterbacks and has allowed the fourth-most yardage through the air. The Bucs have also been vulnerable to quarterback rushing in the red zone, tied for first with four touchdowns allowed to the position. Overall, the matchup is prime for Purdy to have a top-10 finish this week. Purdy is startable this week as a low-end QB1 with a chance to chip in with his legs.

Brock Purdy Rights The Ship In Jacksonville

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy was productive in a 34-3 domination of the Jaguars in Duval County on Sunday. Purdy finished the day completing 19 of 26 attempts for 296 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions. Purdy was pulled from the game with over half of the fourth quarter remaining and the game well in hand, but fantasy managers probably didn't miss out on many points as the 49ers weren't going to be doing much passing anyway. This season, Purdy has been excellent when his team has the lead but has struggled with turnovers when asked to come from behind. Purdy will look forward to a good Week 11 home matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who came into Week 10 tied with Washington for the most generous pass defense to fantasy quarterbacks.

49ers LT Trent Williams, WR Deebo Samuel To Play In Week 10

The 49ers will welcome back left tackle Trent Williams and wide receiver Deebo Samuel for the club’s Week 10 game against the Jaguars, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.com. Ian Rapoport of NFL.com subsequently wrote that Williams is facing an “uphill battle” to suit up, but Schefter doubled down on his earlier report and noted […]

San Francisco 49ers left tackle Trent Williams (ankle) is officially active in Week 10 against the Jacksonville Jaguars and will start on Sunday. Williams came into this game as questionable to play after initially tweaking his ankle in Week 6. He missed the team's last two games, but last week's bye apparently gave him enough time to heal up. Williams' return will be a huge boost to a 49ers offense that has struggled during their three straight losses. Quarterback Brock Purdy should have better protection in the pocket against Jacksonville, and he'll also be getting receiver Deebo Samuel (shoulder) back.

Trent Williams Questionable Coming Out Of Bye Week

San Francisco 49ers left tackle Trent Williams (ankle) is officially questionable to play in Week 10 against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday coming off the team's bye week. Williams didn't practice on Wednesday, but he was limited on Thursday and Friday, giving him a shot to return as the blind-side protector for quarterback Brock Purdy for the first time since tweaking his ankle in the Week 6 loss to the Cleveland Browns. Despite being 35 years old, Williams remains one of the best left tackles in the game, so his return would be a huge boost to a 49ers offense that has scored exactly 17 points in each of their three losses in a row. The Niners are also getting receiver Deebo Samuel (shoulder) back for this showdown in Jacksonville.

Trent Williams Puts In Limited Practice Thursday

San Francisco 49ers left tackle Trent Williams (ankle) was listed as a limited practice participant on Thursday after sitting out on Wednesday coming out of the bye week. Williams had extra tape on his still-healing right ankle but seemed to be moving around fine at the start of practice, which is the most rigorous practice of the week. It's the first time that the 35-year-old All-Pro practiced since Oct. 15, so it's pretty notable heading into the Week 10 contest against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Williams could still be questionable to play this weekend, but he's at least making progress and has a chance to suit up for the first time since Week 6. San Fran has put up 17 points in each of the two games that Williams has missed, which were both losses. His return on quarterback Brock Purdy's blind side would be big news in a matchup against the Jaguars.

Trent Williams Still Not Practicing

San Francisco 49ers left tackle Trent Williams (ankle) was unable to take part in the team's first official practice on Wednesday coming out of the bye week. Williams injured his ankle in Week 6 and missed the games in Weeks 7 and 8. The 35-year-old All-Pro left tackle still has two more days to get back on the practice field, but as of now, he's trending in the wrong direction to return this weekend in a Week 10 tilt on the road in Jacksonville against the Jaguars. If Williams, who is still one of the best left tackles in the league, is unable to play this weekend, it will be a downgrade for quarterback Brock Purdy and the Niners offense as they look to snap a three-game losing skid. Jaylon Moore will likely start again on Purdy's blind side if Williams cannot play.

49ers Hope Trent Williams Practices After Bye

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan announced on Monday that he hopes offensive tackle Trent Williams (ankle) can return to practice following the team's Week 9 bye, per David Lombardi of The Athletic. Williams has been out of action for the prior two outings after suffering an ankle injury during Week 6's 19-17 road loss to the Cleveland Browns. The 10-time Pro Bowler's practice status will be one to watch leading into Week 10's battle with the Jacksonville Jaguars, and his return could provide a spark for the Niners' sudden three-game tailspin. Williams is an integral component of San Fran's running game and protecting Brock Purdy's blindside, so both the ground and air attacks will get a boost when the two-time All-Pro returns.

Brock Purdy Turning Into A Pumpkin?

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy failed to lead his team to a comeback victory for the third consecutive game on Sunday in a 31-17 home loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Purdy completed 22 of 31 attempts for 365 yards passing, one touchdown, and two interceptions. He also scrambled six times for 57 yards, the best rushing day of his career. While today's performance was serviceable for fantasy, it was inadequate for beating a rested Cincinnati team. During San Francisco's three-game losing streak, Purdy has thrown five second-half interceptions, all of which have happened with the 49ers either tied or closely trailing. He would have had a third INT to end San Francisco's last chance to come back but was rescued by a roughing penalty only to lose a fumble the next play. On the bright side, Purdy seems to be developing some game as a runner, which would be a boon to his fantasy value. The 49ers will take a Week 9 bye to regroup before a trip to Jacksonville in Week 10.

Brock Purdy Cleared, Will Play In Week 8

According to Matt Barrows of The Athletic, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy (head) cleared concussion protocol and no longer carries an injury designation ahead of Sunday's meeting with the Bengals. The signal-caller was limited in practice on Thursday but fully participated in Friday's session, so he was moving in the right direction. Of course, this means Sam Darnold won't be of any value to fantasy managers. However, Purdy hasn't exactly been the most reliable option, so he's a risky fantasy play in Week 8 versus Cincinnati, even more so with Deebo Samuel (shoulder) sidelined.

Brock Purdy Expected To Play In Week 8

According to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy (concussion) is anticipated to get cleared and start on Sunday versus the Bengals "if all goes as expected." The signal-caller practiced in full on Friday after being limited in Thursday's session, which is always a good sign. But for now, he's still questionable, although he's predicted to receive the green light by Saturday evening. Of course, Purdy's impending clearance means Sam Darnold won't be of use to fantasy managers. However, the same can be said for Purdy, who hasn't always looked the best during the 2023-24 campaign.

Brock Purdy Considered Questionable For Week 8

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy (concussion) is currently considered as questionable for the Week 8 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. Purdy was able to practice on Friday, but remains in concussion protocol heading into the weekend. The fact Purdy has practiced each of the last two days is a good sign heading into this game. Fantasy managers will probably have to wait closer to game time before getting a final answer to Purdy's status. If Purdy sits, Sam Darnold is expected to be under center for this game.

Brock Purdy Is In Danger Of Missing Week 8

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy (concussion) was able to get back on the practice field on Thursday. That is good news after Purdy suffered a concussion during the Week 7 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. However, Purdy hasn't cleared concussion protocol, which puts him in danger of missing Week 8. If he can't clear protocol by Saturday, Sam Darnold would be in line to start against the Cincinnati Bengals this week. Fantasy managers who have Purdy rostered should get a backup option in place just in case he's unable to play.

Brock Purdy Returns To Practice

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy (concussion) returned to the practice field on Thursday. It sounds like Purdy is still in concussion protocol, but is making good progress. The hope is that Purdy won't be forced to miss any action because of the injury. The 49ers have a tough matchup versus the Cincinnati Bengals this week. Not having Purdy would put them in a bad spot. Sam Darnold would likely be asked to start if Purdy is out. Fantasy managers will have to check back on Friday for another update.

Oct 25 · Pro Football Rumors San Francisco 49ers Brock Purdy Sam DarnoldBrock Purdy In The Concussion Protocol

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy (concussion) has entered into the NFL's concussion protocol. The fact that Purdy entered the protocol on Wednesday makes him a long shot to suit up on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals, which means Sam Darnold would be the presumptive starter for San Francisco. Purdy has been under some scrutiny over the last two weeks, both 49ers' losses, due to his decision-making and execution in the fourth quarter but he is a much better option to lead the San Francisco offense, due to his experience, than Darnold, who is playing on his third team in the last four years. If Purdy ends up sitting on Sunday, which is highly likely, then all San Francisco fantasy-relevant players outside of Christian McCaffrey should be downgraded.

Brock Purdy Falls Short In Fourth Quarter

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy lost his second consecutive start on Monday night in Minneapolis against the Vikings. Purdy, who had a long unbeaten streak snapped last week in Cleveland, threw a game-ending interception in the final minute while trying to get his team in position to take the lead with a touchdown. He finished the game having completed 21 of 30 passes for 272 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. He also rushed five times for 19 yards. Purdy looked sharp enough for most of the game without Deebo Samuel (shoulder), but failing to lead any fourth-quarter touchdown drives while down by one score against a mediocre Minnesota defense makes the Purdy-for-MVP takes from two weeks ago look silly. Purdy will look to bounce back on Sunday when the 49ers host the Cincinnati Bengals.

Brock Purdy Looks To Rebound In Minnesota

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy will be leaving behind the worst game of his career when his team goes to Minnesota to take on the Vikings on Monday. Last week in Cleveland, he was 12 of 27 for 125 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Purdy will be without Deebo Samuel for at least a couple of weeks and could be without often-targeted Christian McCaffrey (oblique), who remains questionable. However, Purdy has shown that he can still be productive without all of his playmakers like in Week 3 against the Giants when he threw for 310 yards and two touchdowns without Brandon Aiyuk. All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams (ankle) is doubtful so the 49ers could have trouble with NFL sack leader Danielle Hunter, but Minnesota's pass defense has nonetheless allowed the league's 10th-most QB fantasy points per game. Purdy checks in this week as a low middle-tier QB1.

Trent Williams Avoids High-Ankle Sprain

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said that All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams (ankle) avoided the dreaded high-ankle sprain in the Week 6 loss to the Cleveland Browns. The 49ers are listing Williams as day-to-day heading into the Week 7 game against the Minnesota Vikings on Monday Night Football. The 35-year-old veteran had his ankle rolled up on in Sunday's game, but he later returned with his ankle heavily wrapped. His injury isn't serious, but it doesn't mean that he won't be in danger of missing the game against Minnesota. Losing Williams for any amount of time would be bad news for quarterback Brock Purdy and the Niners offense, who might also be without running back Christian McCaffrey (oblique, ribs) and receiver Deebo Samuel (shoulder) in Week 7.

Brock Purdy Has Career-Worst Game

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy struggled Sunday against a talented, energized Browns defense in Cleveland. Among career games he has started and finished, Sunday was his first loss. Purdy entered this contest having just completed a decisive victory against Dallas that prompted analysts to place Purdy in MVP conversations. Those talks will be put on ice after he completed only 12 of 27 passes for 125 yards, one touchdown, and one interception today. He added three carries for seven yards on the ground. Cleveland pressured Purdy into multiple misfires, overthrowing open receivers on more than one occasion. Fantasy managers shouldn't panic though, as one gets the sense that most NFL quarterbacks would have also found it rough sledding against the Browns. Purdy and the San Francisco offense will face a much less difficult matchup in Week 7 when they'll take on a mediocre Vikings pass defense in Minneapolis.

Trent Williams Wearing A Boot After Loss To Cleveland

San Francisco 49ers offensive tackle Trent Williams (ankle) needed a walking boot after Sunday's loss to Cleveland. The 35-year-old briefly exited in Week 6 but returned, albeit with his ankle heavily taped. The 49ers dealt with a few significant injuries versus the Browns, with Deebo Samuel (shoulder) and Christian McCaffrey (oblique) both exiting. Williams will likely appear on the injury report ahead of the Week 7 meeting with the Minnesota Vikings. But if he can't play, it wouldn't be an ideal situation for Brock Purdy and the rest of the offense.

Brock Purdy A Borderline Starter In Week 6

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy faces a tough test this week when the team travels to Cleveland to take on the Browns' top-ranked pass defense. Purdy has the Bay Area abuzz after another consecutive win last week, this one against a quality Dallas Cowboys defense. In that game, he was 17-for-24 with four touchdowns and no interceptions. Purdy will have all of his receiving options healthy but Cleveland's pass defense has been dominant, ranking first in the NFL with 125 yards per game allowed through the air and tying for first with only three passing touchdowns allowed. However, their defense might not be as scary as the numbers suggest, as they have faced Cincinnati and a hobbled Joe Burrow, then Pittsburgh, Tennessee, and Baltimore. Overall, Purdy is a risky start this week, on the QB1/QB2 border.

Brock Purdy Adds Another Chapter To Strong Start

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy engineered an unlikely beatdown of the fearsome Dallas Cowboys' defense on Sunday night in Santa Clara. The second-year pro out of Iowa State completed 17-of-24 pass attempts for 252 yards and four touchdowns in the 42-10 victory. Purdy also avoided throwing an interception which keeps him at zero total picks on the year. While Purdy has been excellent as a real-life quarterback, he hadn't shown enough statistical production to be considered more than a back-end QB1 before tonight. The four touchdowns and ability to throw the ball down the field against Dallas may be an indication that Purdy has more weekly upside than previously thought. He faces another tough test against a top-shelf pass defense when the 49ers travel to Cleveland to face the Browns in Week 6.

Brock Purdy A Fade Against Cowboys

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy faces a tough test against the Dallas Cowboys at home on Sunday night. Last week, Purdy was almost perfectly efficient against Arizona, completing 20-of-21 passes for 283 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions. He also scored another touchdown on a quarterback sneak. Dallas' defense is ranked second in the NFL in average passing yards allowed, only allowing 148 yards per game, and ranks first in passing points against at 10.3 per game. As solid as he's been as a back-end QB1 this year, Purdy's fantasy managers with the roster flexibility would be wise to find another starting option in standard-sized leagues this week.

Brock Purdy Worth Consideration Against Arizona

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy will be a startable option when his team hosts the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. In Week 3, Purdy was 25-of-37 for 310 yards passing, two touchdowns, and no interceptions against a New York Giants defense that blitzed him on a ridiculous 84.6% of his dropbacks, which is the highest single-game blitz rate in the Next Gen Stats era. Coincidentally, Arizona's defense is ranked second to the Giants in season-long blitz rate at 34.5%, although it hasn't worked out too well for them either, ranking 19th in total pass defense. Good matchup aside, it is worth noting that Purdy's receiving crew is a bit banged up heading into Sunday. Main target Deebo Samuel (rib/knee) is listed as questionable and third receiver Jauan Jennings (shin) is doubtful. The good news is that Brandon Aiyuk will play after missing last week. Purdy will be relatively stable as a borderline QB1 with a slight boost or fade depending on Samuel's updated status.

Early in the game, Purdy got away with a couple of risky throw decisions and while New York's defense did a commendable job bringing pressure, he consistently hung in and made tough throws. Brock Purdy Looks To Keep The Wins Coming Against Giants

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy will look to continue his winning ways when he leads his offense against the New York Giants on Thursday night. Purdy is coming off a competent, if imperfect performance. In Week 2, he was 17-of-25 for 206 yards passing and no touchdowns or interceptions. He also made some inaccurate throws that limited his fantasy day though he did score on a quarterback sneak. The Giants' defense, who are league-worst in points allowed per game, have had most of that damage done on the ground. Their pass defense has been surprisingly competent statistically, ranking 9th in the league in yards per game. However, half of that sample was accumulated in last week's game against Arizona's fill-in quarterback Joshua Dobbs. Purdy is again on the QB1/QB2 border with this week's favorable matchup.

Brock Purdy - Week 2 Outlook for Fantasy Football

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy completed 65.5% of his 29 attempts for 220 yards and two touchdowns in a 30-7 Week 1 win at the Pittsburgh Steelers. Purdy, who still hasn't lost a game in which he has taken the majority of snaps, did not throw any interceptions in the contest and even rushed for 20 yards. In Week 2 he'll travel to Los Angeles to take on Aaron Donald and the Rams defense, who raised eyebrows last week by holding Seattle quarterback Geno Smith to 112 yards passing and one touchdown. Regardless of last week's performance, most analysts will still place the Rams' defense near the bottom of the league until they build a bigger body of work. For his part, Purdy is starting to build quite a bit of fantasy buzz. Purdy checks in this week on the QB1/QB2 border and is an excellent option for quarterback streamers.

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy will look to continue his undefeated streak as a starter at the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. In 2022 Purdy rattled off seven straight wins when then-starter Jimmy Garoppolo went down with a foot injury. This year he figures to be a better real-life quarterback than in fantasy, where his ceiling is capped by his lack of rushing skills and mediocre arm strength. Purdy could occasionally run into useful fantasy performances, but he'll mostly be relying on his playmakers to run for touchdowns after the catch. Against an improved Steelers defense, Purdy is worth a shot as a low-end QB2 in superflex formats but there are probably better options in the free-agent pool if you need someone this week in one-quarterback leagues.
