  • Dameon Pierce Looks To Bounce Back

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce is coming off the worst game of his NFL career, as he was held to just eight rushing yards in a Week 11 loss to the Commanders. But considering Pierce had rushed for 80 or more yards in six of the past seven games before last week's disappointment, fantasy managers should still be confident in Pierce as an RB2 play. Even though he had a season-low in carries last week, he played 77% of the team's snaps, his fourth-highest snap rate of the season. He'll be on the field plenty on Sunday and he'll get opportunities against a Dolphins defense that ranks 16th in rushing yards allowed.

  • Dameon Pierce Shut Down By Commanders

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce was a non-factor in Houston's loss to the Washington Commanders on Sunday. Pierce entered the game with 90 or more rushing yards in five of the last six games, but he ended the day with a career-low eight yards on the ground. He also added nine receiving yards on two catches. Pierce has been incredibly reliable in fantasy lately, but the game script and the Commanders defense both worked against him in this one. He should still be considered an RB2 going forward, but he's clearly not as safe of a play as we thought he was.

  • Dameon Pierce Has Another Strong Showing In Week 10

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce had 17 carries for 94 yards in Sunday's loss to the New York Giants. He also caught two passes for 28 yards. Pierce remains Houston's best offensive weapon and has now run for at least 90 yards in five of the last six games. He's a strong RB2 play at this point. The struggles of the offense as a whole limit his touchdown upside, but he has guaranteed volume every week. He had all but two of the team's rushing attempts this week.

  • Dameon Pierce A Strong Week 10 Play

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce (chest/shoulder) has been limited at practice this week, but he was removed from the injury report on Friday, putting him in line to play Sunday against the New York Giants. He's a strong RB2 play against a Giants defense that ranks just 25th against the run. Pierce has made 20 or more carries in three of the last four games and had a career-high 139 rushing yards last week against the Eagles. He's the only player on this Texans team with guaranteed volume.

  • Dameon Pierce Limited On Thursday

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce (chest/shoulder) was limited during Thursday's practice session. The rookie back has been limited in two straight practices, which raises concern that he might sit this weekend. At the moment, fantasy managers should consider him questionable for the Week 10 matchup against the New York Giants. His practice status on Friday is going to go a long way to determining whether or not he suits up this week. Otherwise, Rex Burkhead could have some streaming appeal if Pierce is on the sideline.

  • Dameon Pierce Added To Injury Report

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce (chest, shoulder) was added to the injury report on Wednesday as a limited practice participant. It's unclear exactly when Pierce picked these injuries up and how severe they are, but the fact that he was able to practice in any capacity is encouraging. Fantasy managers should not panic about the rookie just yet but need to monitor practice reports throughout the week. Assuming Pierce suits up against the New York Giants on Sunday, he will be worth starting in all formats.

  • Dameon Pierce Offers Bright Spot For Texans

Houston Texans rookie running back Dameon Pierce continued to be the team's most-used player in Thursday's loss to the Eagles, as he carried the ball 27 times for 139 yards. Only one of the team's other five carries went to backup running back Rex Burkhead, highlighting the stranglehold Pierce has on the position. He wasn't targeted in the passing game on Thursday. The lack of targets is definitely a concern, but as long as Pierce continues to get this kind of volume, he's a fantasy RB2, even though the game script for Houston should be calling for fewer rushing attempts.

  • Dameon Pierce Might Be Only Playable Texan In Week 9

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce remains a fantasy RB2 play heading into Thursday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles, even as the rest of his team is virtually unplayable against the league's fourth-best scoring defense. The Houston passing game is currently suffering from receiver injuries and is likely going to struggle to move the ball on Thursday, but that should benefit Pierce some, as he'll likely get a lot of work, especially in the first half, and the Eagles have done worse defending the run than the pass this season.

  • Dameon Pierce Catches Touchdown In Week 8

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce had gone over 80 rushing yards in four consecutive games entering Sunday's contest against the Titans, but Tennessee's defense was able to shut the rookie down on the ground. Pierce had 15 carries, but produced just 35 yards. His fantasy day was salvaged, though, when he was on the receiving end of Davis Mills' only touchdown pass. Even when it's not his day, he finds a way to post a strong fantasy stat line. Pierce remains a fantasy RB2 with upside going forward.

  • Dameon Pierce Remains RB2 Play Against Titans

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce doesn't have the easiest matchup on Sunday against a Titans team that allows the fourth-fewest rushing yards per game to opposing teams, but his volume makes him an RB2 play despite that. He's had 20 or more carries in three of the last four games, while he's also been targeted at least four times in three consecutive games. DFS managers might want to avoid Pierce because of the matchup, but you've got to keep him in your season-long lineups and hope that the volume leads to his fourth touchdown of 2022.

  • Dameon Pierce Controls Backfield Once Again

Houston Texans rookie running back Dameon Pierce continued to dominate the team's backfield touches in Sunday's loss to the Raiders, as he recorded 20 of the team's 23 rushing attempts. Pierce ended the day with 92 rushing yards, plus added four receptions for 25 yards. At this point, Pierce has one of the most secure roles of any running back in the NFL, though the struggles of this offense as a whole might keep Pierce from getting enough red zone looks to be a fantasy RB1. Still, he's a high-end RB2 at this point.

  • Dameon Pierce Has RB2 Upside In Week 7

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce should be considered a solid RB2 play for Sunday's Week 7 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders. While the Texans offense as a whole has struggled, Pierce has had some good individual efforts, including touchdowns in three consecutive games. Last time out, Pierce had 26 carries and five targets in a win over Jacksonville. That kind of volume gives Pierce one of the best fantasy floors in the league, even if the limits of the offense itself lower his ceiling.

  • Texans Plan To Continue Riding Dameon Pierce

Houston Texans head coach Lovie Smith said that rookie running back Dameon Pierce "needs at least 20 carries" per game going forward. The Texans plan to continue giving Pierce a heavy workload coming out of their Week 6 bye. He will be spelled on third downs by veteran pass-catching back Rex Burkhead. Pierce has had double-digit carries in each of his first five NFL games, cut he's seen at least 20 carries in two of his last three games. He went for a season-high 131 yards in Week 4 and came just short of 100 yards rushing in Week 5. The 22-year-old has scored in each of his last three games and will face off against the Las Vegas Raiders this weekend. Pierce will be a strong RB2 for fantasy managers with upside for more based on volume alone.

  • Dameon Pierce Has 26 Carries Against Jags

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce continues to see his workload increase. In Sunday's win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, Pierce had 26 carries, finishing with 99 yards and a touchdown. He also had three catches for 14 yards. It wasn't the most efficient game as Pierce finished with just 3.8 yards per carry, but his current workload makes him a volume-based fantasy RB2 play going forward. The Texans are on a bye next week.

  • Dameon Pierce Has Upside In Week 5

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce has a tough matchup in Week 5 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but his high volume gives him fantasy upside even though the Jags allow the eighth-fewest rushing yards per game. Last week, Pierce had all 14 rushing attempts for Houston, finishing with a career-high 131 yards and a touchdown. Pierce basically is the Texans offense this week, giving him a relatively high floor and ceiling even though the matchup looks bad on paper.

  • Dameon Pierce Week 4 Outlook For Fantasy Football

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce is a fantasy RB2 option this week against a Chargers team that allows more rushing yards per game than any other NFL team. Pierce opened the season in a timeshare with Rex Burkhead, but he's emerged as the clear No. 1 option on this team and saw 20 carries last week. Expect a lot of volume for Pierce in this one, especially on early downs as the Texans try to keep the ball out of the air.

  • Dameon Pierce Logs Full Practice Thursday

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce (hip) returned to full practice on Thursday. The 22-year-old was added to the injury report with a hip issue and was limited in Wednesday's session. He is coming off the best game of the season, logging 20 carries for 80 yards and a TD to go along with two catches for 21 yards in the Week 3 loss to the Chicago Bears. Pierce will operate as the Texans' lead back, while teammate Rex Burkhead will provide a change of pace in Week 4 versus the Los Angeles Chargers. Fantasy managers can plug and play Pierce in their lineups as a borderline RB2 in Week 4.

  • Dameon Pierce Practicing Again On Thursday

Houston Texans rookie running back Dameon Pierce (hip), who showed up on the injury report on Wednesday with a hip injury, was limited in practice again on Thursday. It gives Pierce a good shot at suiting up for the Week 4 game against the Los Angeles Chargers. The fourth-round rookie played 59 percent of the offensive snaps in the Week 3 loss to the Chicago Bears and handled a season-high 20 carries for 80 yards and his first NFL touchdown while catching both his targets for 21 yards. The 22-year-old will enter this Sunday's game as the team's clear lead ball-carrier against the Bolts, making him a low-end RB2 in Houston's mediocre offense.

  • Dameon Pierce Limited In Practice Wednesday

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce (hip) was listed as a limited participant in practice on Wednesday. The severity of the hip injury he is nursing is currently unknown. The rookie seems to have taken control of the Texans' backfield, as he enjoyed a breakout performance last week with over 100 scrimmage yards and a touchdown. His status will be important to monitor ahead of a Week 4 matchup with a Los Angeles Chargers defense that is allowing 26.4 PPR fantasy points per contest to opposing running backs. If Pierce is sidelined, Rex Burkhead would become an intriguing flex play.

  • Dameon Pierce Has Strong Showing In Week 3

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce was the lone fantasy bright spot in Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Chicago Bears. The rookie had 20 carries in the game, finishing with 80 yards and a touchdown. He also had two catches for 21 yards. After splitting snaps with Rex Burkhead in Week 1, Pierce has now firmly established himself as the No. 1 running back in Houston, as Burkhead had just three carries this week. Pierce is a solid RB2/3, though Houston's overall struggles on offense mean there will likely be some weeks where he doesn't get a ton of touches.

  • Dameon Pierce's Week 3 Outlook For Fantasy Football

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce is an interesting RB3/flex option for fantasy managers in Week 3 as the Texans take on the Chicago Bears. Chicago has allowed 189 rushing yards per game this season, the most in the league. Pierce looked like he was buried behind Rex Burkhead on the depth chart in Week 1, but he had 15 carries against Denver last week, finishing with 69 rushing yards. With Houston's passing game struggling, we could see a lot of Pierce this weekend.

  • Texans Praise Dameon Pierce

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce could be getting more snaps going forward. The rookie back rushed 15 times for 69 yards in Week 2. Head coach Lovie Smith praised the 22-year-old for his toughness and ability to finish plays. It sounds like this team is high on Pierce as their future back. That being said, he should continue to see a significant workload going forward. Fantasy managers who are holding Pierce might get rewarded sooner rather than later.

  • Dameon Pierce Sees Increased Role In Week 2

Houston Texans rookie running back Dameon Pierce was a popular preseason sleeper, but his role in Week 1 against the Colts really stymied that hype when he took a back seat to Rex Burkhead. That trend took a major shift in Week 2's loss to the Broncos, though, as Pierce ended up being the only running back on the team with a carry. Pierce ended the day with 15 carries for 69 yards, plus one catch for eight yards. This was the game that everyone hoped he'd have last week. Now the question is how to weigh the two weeks. Consider him an RB4 play for now but with the upside to do more.

  • Dameon Pierce Week 2 Outlook For Fantasy Football

Houston Texans rookie running back Dameon Pierce appears to be the team's No. 2 back heading into Week 2 and the team's meeting with the Denver Broncos. Pierce had 11 carries in Week 1, finishing with 33 yards. He was targeted once in the passing game, catching it for a six-yard gain. As long as Rex Burkhead is getting the pass-game usage in Houston, Pierce's chances of breaking out remain low. Consider him a deep-league flex play this week.

  • Texans Want To Increase Dameon Pierce's Workload

Houston Texans rookie running back Dameon Pierce played only 29% of the team's 70 offensive snaps in the Week 1 tie with the Indianapolis Colts. He ran for only 33 yards on 11 carries and caught one pass for six yards while taking a back seat to veteran Rex Burkhead. Burkhead played 71% of the snaps and rushed for 40 yards on 14 catches while catching five passes for 30 yards. Pierce has some work to do in passing situations, but the Texans want to increase the impressive fourth-rounder's workload moving forward. The 22-year-old still has more season-long upside in fantasy than Burkhead, but the Texans were one of the worst rushing offenses a season ago. Against a Broncos defense that allowed only 76 rushing yards to the Seahawks on Monday night, Pierce will be an RB3/flex play in deeper leagues in Week 2, at best.

  • Dameon Pierce Needs To Work On Pass Protection

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce turned in a quiet NFL debut, seeing just 12 touches compared to Rex Burkhead's 19 in a 20-20 tie with the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1. Head coach Lovie Smith told reporters on Monday that Pierce still needs to get better at pass protection and pass-catching skills. Smith stated, "There's some things we're going to work on so that situation doesn't happen again." Many fantasy gamers drafted Pierce hoping he would be the clear No. 1 running back in Houston but it appears that this backfield will be more of an even split between the rookie and Burkhead. That being said, Pierce could gain a larger share of the role as the season goes on and he gets more NFL experience. For that reason, Pierce remains a hold in all leagues.

  • Dameon Pierce Starts Career With Tough Matchup

Houston Texans rookie running back Dameon Pierce was a popular sleeper in the preseason, but fantasy managers might want to consider leaving him on the bench in Week 1 against the Colts. Indianapolis ranked third in DVOA against the run last season and the Texans will likely be playing from behind in this one, limiting the opportunities for Pierce. We also don't know how much Pierce will be involved in the run game vs. how much Rex Burkhead will be. Pierce is an RB3 option this week, but not an exciting one.

  • Lovie Smith Confirms Dameon Pierce Will Start In Week 1

Houston Texans head coach Lovie Smith confirmed that rookie running back Dameon Pierce will get the start in his NFL debut in Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts. "He's earned an opportunity to lead us. It was asked, is he our starting running back? He's earned the right to line up there with the one's, the first snap and I'm anxious to see him play," Smith said. Pierce earned the starting gig by averaging 7.8 yards per carry with a touchdown in the preseason. The 22-year-old's fantasy stock has risen with the news, but it doesn't mean he'll be a no-brainer RB2 each and every week. Last year, the Texans finished last in the NFL by averaging 83.6 rushing yards per game and 3.39 rushing yards per play.

  • Dameon Pierce Officially Listed As RB1 On Depth Chart

Houston Texans rookie running back Dameon Pierce is officially listed as the team's starting running back on their first official depth chart of the 2022 regular season. Behind Pierce are veteran Rex Burkhead, Dare Ogunbowale and Royce Freeman. Marlon Mack looked to finally be healthy after a serious Achilles injury he suffered two years ago, but he was surprisingly released. With Mack out of the picture, Pierce's fantasy stock shot up. Burkhead should still see plenty of work as a pass-catcher and change-of-pace option behind Pierce, but the 22-year-old rookie is easily the most fantasy relevant back in Houston. In Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts, he'll be an RB3/flex in fantasy lineups.

  • Dameon Pierce Emerges As Houston's Lead Back

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce is the team's primary back based on performance and faces less competition, with the Texans releasing Marlon Mack on August 30. Houston did add Mack back to the team's practice squad. Texans head coach Lovie Smith recently said the Texans were trying to figure out who the lead back should be. Pierce is coming off a strong preseason and, with Mack out of the picture, is expected to handle early-down work. Despite Smith not naming a starter, Pierce has emerged as the Texans' lead back. The 22-year-old rushed for 86 yards on 11 rushing attempts and a touchdown while averaging 7.8 yards per carry during the preseason. His fantasy stock has skyrocketed recently and has an FFPC ADP of 59.67. Pierce is 18th in the latest Rotoballer rankings and is a mid-range RB2 now that he's secured Houston's starting primary running back gig.
