Nico Collins A Solid Flex Option In Week 3

Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins has emerged as the team's WR1 and will look to build off a career performance in Week 3 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Collins has been a surprise fantasy star in the early going and will look to continue that in a nice matchup on the road. He is currently the WR7 in half-PPR formats and is coming off a seven-catch, 146-yard, one-touchdown day last week. The third-year wideout should be started in your flex spot in most 10-12-team leagues in Week 3.

Nico Collins Explodes For Career Day In Week 2

Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins continued to solidify himself as the team's WR1 in the 31-20 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Week 2. The 24-year-old wideout caught seven passes for a career-high 146 yards and one touchdown on nine targets. Through two weeks, Collins has 13 catches for 226 yards and has become rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud's favorite target through the air. His 226 receiving yards currently ranks fifth in the NFL. He will be a hot waiver wire pickup heading into a Week 3 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Nico Collins - Week 2 Outlook for Fantasy Football

After seeing 11 targets in the season opener, Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins has emerged as the top option in the passing game for rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud. Collins has another good opportunity in Week 2 at home against the Indianapolis Colts to earn more chances. In Week 1, Collins finished with six catches for 80 yards on a team-high 11 targets. With an impressive 26.2% target share in the season opener, the 24-year-old wideout has already become Stroud's favorite target. Collins also saw an absurd 158 air yards against the Baltimore Ravens, the third most in the NFL. With a matchup facing the Colts secondary that just allowed 50-plus receiving yards to two wideouts, Collins is a sneaky flex play option in Week 2.

Nico Collins Sees Team-High 11 Targets

Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins reeled in six catches for 80 yards on 11 targets in Sunday's 25-9 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. His 80 receiving yards were also a team-high. It was encouraging to see the 24-year-old wideout lead the team with 11 targets on an impressive 26.2% target share. Rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud has developed a strong connection with Collins all offseason, and Sunday showed that. Stroud went to the young wideout early and often through the air, which could bode well for his fantasy value moving forward. He'll look to continue his high usage next week at home against the Indianapolis Colts.

Nico Collins Looks To Emerge As Top WR In Week 1

Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins has supposedly developed a strong connection with rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud this offseason. That will be put to the test in Week 1 against the Baltimore Ravens. The good news for Collins is that Baltimore might be without top cornerback Marlon Humphrey. So he should have better opportunities on offense to get open. After the departure of veteran Brandin Cooks, the 24-year-old wideout will have the chance to lead the team in targets and receptions in 2023. With a rookie quarterback under center, though, Collins is better served as a low-end flex play in Week 1.

Nico Collins Catches Touchdown Pass In Preseason Finale

Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins caught one of two targets for a three-yard touchdown in Saturday's 17-13 preseason win over the New Orleans Saints. C.J. Stroud hooked up with Collins for a three-yard score in the first quarter. He will enter the year as Stroud's top option in the passing game. The third-year wideout saw two drives with the first-team offense, and the rookie quarterback targeted him the most. In four Stroud pass attempts, Collins saw two targets -- including the touchdown catch. Since being drafted in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Collins has been stuck behind veteran Brandin Cooks on the depth chart. But with Cooks' departure, the former Michigan star could see a more prominent role on offense. It's not great for Collins' fantasy value to have a rookie quarterback under center, as the offense will likely be inconsistent for most of the year. However, if he can maintain consistency by being Stroud's favorite target, he can be an occasional flex play in 2023.

Xavier Hutchinson Quiet In Preseason Action

Houston Texans Wide Receiver Xavier Hutchinson could muster only one catch for two yards in Saturday's 28-3 preseason loss to the Miami Dolphins. The former Iowa State pass-catching monster couldn't get anything going Saturday night and remains primarily a short-range target for the team. Hutchinson is fighting for a roster spot on the wide receiver depth chart that includes Robert Woods, Nico Collins, Noah Brown, Tank Dell, and John Metchie III. The rookie's sixth-round pedigree makes him a longshot for 2023 fantasy relevancy, but he'll look to get back on track in next week's preseason finale against the New Orleans Saints.

Nico Collins Sees More Action In Second Preseason Game

Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins saw three targets in Saturday's 28-3 loss to the Miami Dolphins. Collins was able to grab two of those and translate that into 21 yards for the day. Despite the low stat line, it was encouraging to see him be more involved and still projects to be near the top of a thin Houston wide receiver depth chart. He caught 37 of his 66 targets for 481 yards and two touchdowns over 10 games in 2022. The 24-year-old will look to improve on this performance and continue developing a rapport with rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud in next week's preseason final against the New Orleans Saints.

Texans Have No Clear No. 1 WR In Training Camp

The Houston Texans have a ton of new faces on offense in 2023, and DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN reports there is no clear No. 1 wide receiver yet through over a week of training camp. The top contenders for the WR1 spot appear to be Robert Woods, Nico Collins, John Metchie III, Noah Brown, Tank Dell, and Xavier Hutchinson, but none have separated themselves from the pack this offseason. The Houston pass-catching group will likely be tricky to navigate, but it's tough to see a significant path to upside for any of them while catching passes from Davis Mills and rookie CJ Stroud. That said, one or two of the Texans' wide receivers will likely beat their preseason average draft position. Collins has the highest ADP at just the WR59 in PPR formats.

Offseason In Review: Houston Texans

The Texans’ rebuild continues, and it now involves a third head coach in three years. Following in the footsteps of the 1970s and 2010s 49ers in seeing back-to-back one-and-done coaching tenures transpire, the Texans have been the league’s most anonymous on-field operation during the 2020s. GM Nick Caserio generated scrutiny as the losses piled up, but […]

The Texans’ wide receiving corps was among the league’s worst last season, finishing 26th in combined receptions, 28th in receiving yards, and 28th in receiving touchdowns. Things aren’t looking any easier as the team’s top receivers from 2022, Brandin Cooks and Chris Moore, will find themselves in different uniforms next season. Still, according to DJ […]
Jul 9 · Pro Football Rumors Texans Noah Brown Nico Collins Xavier Hutchinson John Metchie Amari Rodgers C.J. Stroud Robert WoodsNico Collins Looking Great In Practice

Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins is reportedly quarterback C.J. Stroud's favorite target in offseason practices, according to DJ Bien-Aime. It's only pad-less summer practices, but it's still good to see Collins playing this well. Collins has a chance to really set himself apart this season with minimal competition at the wide receiver position. Collins recorded 37 receptions for 481 yards and two touchdowns in just 10 games last season. The 24-year-old has a chance at putting together a breakout campaign in 2023. He could be a fringe WR4 on draft day, but we'll wait and see how the rest of camp goes before getting too high on Collins.
