  • Texans Considering Quarterback Change

The Texans finished with one first-half first down in Sunday’s one-sided loss to the Commanders, and a week after Lovie Smith indicated it was not time to consider making a quarterback change, the rebuilding team seems to be changing its tune. Houston is considering benching Davis Mills for veteran Kyle Allen, Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 […]

  • Davis Mills Picked Off Twice Against Washington

Houston Texans quarterback Davis Mills was 19-for-33 for 169 yards in Sunday's loss to the Washington Commanders. He was picked off twice, but he did manage to add a rushing touchdown, finishing with 10 rushing yards on five carries. Mills has been a non-entity in the run game this season and there's no reason to think this one touchdown changes that. Overall, it was another disappointing showing from Mills, who put up most of his yards in the second half.

  • Davis Mills Is Risky Fantasy Option For Week 11

Houston Texans quarterback Davis Mills is coming off of a productive outing in Week 10, throwing for a season-high 319 yards in a loss to the New York Giants. But considering Mills only has two games all season with over 300 yards and just four games with more than one touchdown pass, he remains a low-upside fantasy option heading into his Week 11 matchup with the Commanders, who only allow an average of 212 passing yards per game. Due to his lack of rushing upside, Mills needs to be facing a bottom-10 defense to have streaming appeal.

  • Davis Mills To Remain Texans' Starting QB

Sunday’s loss to the Giants dropped to the Texans to 1-7-1 on the season, leading to more questions about a potential quarterback change. As head coach Lovie Smith confirmed when speaking to the media, however, a switch will not be taking place. Davis Mills has operated as the team’s No. 1 throughout the campaign, after he took […]

  • Texans Not Planning To Bench Davis Mills

Houston Texans head coach Lovie Smith said the team has no plans to replace quarterback Davis Mills as the starter heading into their Week 11 game against the Washington Commanders. The Texans lost their fourth straight game on Sunday to the New York Giants, but Mills went 22-for-37 for a season-high 319 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Despite going over 300 yards, the 24-year-old hasn't looked as good as he did in his rookie year in 2021, and he's completing just 62.3 percent of his passes with a passer rating of 81.7. Mills will have to play better in order to hold off backup Kyle Allen down the stretch, and he'll remain a low-end QB2 with minimal upside in superflex leagues as long as he continues to start in Houston.

  • Davis Mills Throws For Over 300 Yards In Week 10

Houston Texans quarterback Davis Mills threw for a season-high 319 yards against the New York Giants on Sunday, but it wasn't enough to get Houston the win, as the team dropped its fourth game in a row. Despite the yardage, Mills had just one touchdown and was also picked off once. He didn't have a carry. It was a decent showing for Mills, but his complete lack of rushing upside makes it really, really hard to justify playing him in fantasy, especially when he only has two 300-yard games all season.

  • Davis Mills Is Risky Option In Week 10

Houston Texans quarterback Davis Mills should be fairly far down on your fantasy radar heading into Saturday's meeting with the New York Giants. Mills has thrown for under 200 yards in three of the last four games and has thrown at least one interception in three consecutive outings. Add in his lack of rushing upside, and you can see why Mills is a low-end QB2 play at best, no matter how enticing a matchup might be. And this matchup with New York isn't very enticing anyways, as the Giants rank 16th in passing yards allowed.

  • Davis Mills Throws Pair Of Touchdowns On Thursday

Houston Texans quarterback Davis Mills was 13-for-22 for 154 yards in Thursday's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. He had a pair of touchdown passes, but was also picked twice. Mills added an additional 18 yards with his legs. Considering the defense that Houston was facing and the lack of available receiving options, it was a decent showing from Mills, who remains a low-end QB2 play because of his low volume.

  • Davis Mills Is Risky Option In Week 9

Houston Texans quarterback Davis Mills should be mainly off the fantasy radar for Thursday night's contest against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles allow the fourth-fewest passing yards per game, while the Texans throw for an average of 196 yards per contest, which ranks 25th in the NFL. With Nico Collins (groin) out and Brandin Cooks (wrist) questionable, Mills might not even really have many options to throw to, which limits his upside even more.

  • Davis Mills Struggles Against Titans

Houston Texans quarterback Davis Mills was 17-for-29 for 152 yards in Sunday's loss to the Titans, throwing one touchdown while also getting picked off. Mills also added eight rushing yards. This was a juicy matchup against a Titans defense that has struggled to stop passing attacks, so the fact that Mills couldn't get it done in this one is further proof that he doesn't have much fantasy value outside of deep, two-QB leagues.

  • Davis Mills Has Deep Fantasy Appeal Against Titans

Houston Texans quarterback Davis Mills hasn't had a great season, but he's got a chance to post solid numbers on Sunday against a Titans team that ranks 31st in the NFL in passing yards allowed per game. That might not end up mattering since the Texans offense has often relied on its run game this year, but Mills is coming off of his highest volume contest of the year, throwing 41 passes for 302 yards last week against the Raiders. Mills isn't worth playing in a one-QB league, but he's decently appealing in Superflex or as a contrarian play in DFS.

  • Davis Mills Has Some Upside In Week 7

Houston Texans quarterback Davis Mills hasn't had the best sophomore campaign, with under 250 passing yards in every contest and two multi-interception games. But if there's ever a time to consider him as a QB2 play, it might be this week, with some popular fantasy quarterbacks on a bye and Mills facing a Raiders defense that ranks 24th in passing yards allowed per game. Mills doesn't have a ton of upside because of the limitations of his game, but there's definitely more reasons to consider him as a streaming play this week than there usually would be.

  • Davis Mills Has Quiet Game In Week 5

Houston Texans quarterback Davis Mills threw for just 140 yards in Sunday's win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, going 16-for-24. Mills had no touchdown passes and no interceptions. He also added two yards on the ground. It was the first time since Week 2 that Mills hadn't thrown multiple interceptions, so that's a plus, but overall it was another reminder of why Mills is one of the worst fantasy options at quarterback. This Texans offense just doesn't have much upside outside of the run game.

  • Davis Mills Is Tough To Trust In Week 5

Houston Texans quarterback Davis Mills has thrown four interceptions over the last two games and now has a Week 5 matchup with the Jaguars on deck, who have a plus-three turnover differential this season. The Jaguars allow the 16th-fewest passing yards per game this season; while that's right in the center of the league, it would take a matchup against a passing defense that allows a lot more yards than Jacksonville to make Mills a fantasy option at this point. He has a low floor and a low ceiling.

  • Davis Mills Week 4 Outlook For Fantasy Football

Houston Texans quarterback Davis Mills is a risky fantasy football option for Sunday's meeting with the Los Angeles Chargers. While LA has allowed the 20th-most passing yards per game this season, the Chargers have also faced the Chiefs already, which has skewed that number. Mills threw for a season-high 245 yards last week, but was picked off twice. He's a low floor and low ceiling player who should be avoided in most formats this week.

  • Davis Mills Week 3 Outlook For Fantasy Football

Houston Texans quarterback Davis Mills is a risky fantasy play on Sunday against a Chicago Bears team that has allowed the seventh-fewest passing yards per game so far this season. While some of that can be attributed to poor weather conditions, this Bears defense still looks to be a little too good for fantasy managers to trust Davis Mills against. Mills has just two touchdown passes this season and is a QB3 this week.

  • Davis Mills Good To Go For Sunday

Houston Texans quarterback Davis Mills (thumb) popped up on the injury report following their Week 2 loss to the Broncos. The 23-year-old practiced in full on Wednesday, indicating he will be active for their matchup against the Bears on Sunday. The sophomore has struggled to move the offense over the first two games, generating 20 points in Week 1 and only nine points in Week 2. He's also thrown for 417 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions this season. Given his modest production in this low-scoring offense, he remains off-the-radar for fantasy football, even in two-quarterback or superflex leagues.

  • Davis Mills Should Be Fine For Week 3

Houston Texans quarterback Davis Mills (thumb) showed up on the injury report for Week 3. Luckily, the 23-year-old was a full participant during Wednesday's practice. The young quarterback has thrown for over 400 yards with two touchdowns and zero interceptions in two games this season. The Texans aren't exactly competitive, so Mills shouldn't be in any danger of being benched. He does have potential, but it's unlikely he'll become a reliable fantasy option at any point this season.

  • Davis Mills Struggles Against Broncos

Houston Texans quarterback Davis Mills had another underwhelming performance in Sunday's loss to the Denver Broncos. Mills was 19-for-38 from the field, finishing with 177 yards. He didn't throw an interception, but he also didn't throw a touchdown despite having one more pass attempt than he did in Week 1. Mills is in no danger of being benched in Houston, but his inconsistency makes him a tough player to trust in fantasy.

  • Davis Mills' Week 2 Outlook For Fantasy Football

Houston Texans quarterback Davis Mills has a tough matchup in Week 2 against the Denver Broncos, making him a tough player to trust in fantasy football. Last week, Mills attempted 37 passes but ended up with just 240 yards in an overtime tie with the Colts. The Broncos allowed just 177 passing yards last week, so don't expect Mills to light the world on fire. He's a low-end QB2 at best in Week 2.

  • Davis Mills Faces Tough Start To Season

Houston Texans quarterback Davis Mills is set to face the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1 of the 2022 NFL season. The Colts were 17th in DVOA against the pass last year, so the matchup here isn't terrible for Mills, but in the early going, it's tough to justify playing Mills unless he has an even better matchup than this one. Mills threw 16 touchdown passes last season, but seven of his starts saw him throw zero or one touchdowns, including his start against the Colts. Mills should be off of the fantasy radar.

  • Davis Mills Has A Chance To Prove He's The Long-Term Answer

The Houston Texans like quarterback Davis Mills and want to give him every chance to prove that he can be their long-term answer at the position. Mills will need to show improvement on deeper throws, but offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton has a chance to improve his own resume by coaching a big year out of Mills. The most likely outcome is that Houston goes after a QB in next year's draft with all the draft capital they have. But Mills was fairly well regarded by teams leading into the 2021 draft, and he could outplay expectations as an unchallenged starter this season. Not many have really given the 23-year-old much of a chance at sticking, but he outperformed expectations in 13 games (11 starts) in his rookie season, throwing for 2,664 yards, 16 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. For fantasy purposes, he should only be rostered in superflex leagues.
