Terrace Marshall Jr. Will Play Sunday, Could Have Increased Role

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. (back) upgraded to a full participant during Friday's practice and has been cleared to play against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 1. Marshall could see an increase in targets with DJ Chark Jr. (hamstring) ruled out and Adam Thielen (ankle) listed as questionable. Marshall is worth consideration in deep formats and DFS lineups, but you should avoid him and start your studs in a traditional 12-team league.

Terrace Marshall Jr. Limited In Wednesday's Practice

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. (back) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice. The young playmaker sustained a back injury on Aug. 14 and is slowly progressing from it. He will have two more opportunities on Thursday and Friday to practice in full and be available for the team's season opener against the Atlanta Falcons. With D.J. Chark (hamstring) not practicing on Wednesday, Marshall could be in for a larger role in Week 1 if the veteran misses. But the 23-year-old has to get healthy for that to happen.

Terrace Marshall Jr. Returns To The Practice Field

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. (back) has returned to the practice field on Tuesday after missing time recently with a back issue. ESPN's David Newton reports that Marshall was limited. DJ Chark Jr. (hamstring) and Laviska Shenault Jr. (concussion) are also dealing with injuries, but all three should be good to go for Week 1 of the regular season against the Atlanta Falcons. The 23-year-old Marshall should have a bigger role in Carolina's offense after catching 28 of 47 targets for 490 yards and a touchdown in 14 games (nine starts) in his second NFL campaign in 2022. Still, with rookie quarterback Bryce Young running this offense in 2023, Marshall is going to go undrafted in the majority of fantasy leagues.

Terrace Marshall Jr. Out A Few Weeks

According to team beat writer Sheena Quick, Carolina Panthers wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. (back) is expected to "miss a few weeks." The 23-year-old injured his back during practice on Monday and was carted off the field. But after undergoing a scan, it appears things could have been worse, especially since he may return before the start of the season. Marshall finished last season by amassing 28 grabs for 490 yards and a touchdown, an improvement from his rookie campaign. However, he isn't predicted to be more productive, considering the Panthers have DJ Chark Jr., Jonathan Mingo, and Adam Thielen in the equation.

Terrace Marshall Jr. Tweaks His Back

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. (back) "tweaked a little something in his back" at training camp practice on Monday, according to head coach Frank Reich. Marshall had to be carted off the field, so this is certainly a situation worth watching this week at camp. The 23-year-old former second-round selection in 2021 improved in his sophomore season in 2022, hauling in 28 of his 47 targets for 490 yards and one touchdown in 14 games (nine starts). Marshall will be fighting for a bigger role in Year 3, but it won't be easy alongside Adam Thielen, DJ Chark and rookie Jonathan Mingo, as well as tight end Hayden Hurst. And with rookie quarterback Bryce Young leading the offense, there won't be a ton of upside for Marshall in fantasy.

Terrace Marshall Jr. On The Rise At Training Camp

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. has surged over the last four training camp practices, and head coach Frank Reich gave him a laundry list of praise when asked about his skill set after practice. Marshall has quietly had a pretty nice offseason heading into his third NFL campaign. The former second-rounder has a total of 45 catches on 77 targets for 628 yards and just one touchdown in his first two seasons over 27 games (12 starts). The 23-year-old could take another step forward in his third year while taking passes from first-round rookie Bryce Young. Marshall isn't going to be drafted in 12-team fantasy leagues, but he's one to keep an eye if he works his way into a starting role. He's mainly battling rookie Jonathan Mingo for the No. 3 job behind DJ Chark and Adam Thielen.

Latest On Terrace Marshall, Panthers' WR Room

The Panthers’ offense will look far different at the start of the 2023 season than it did at the conclusion of the previous campaign. Part of the reason for that is the changes made to the top of the team’s wide receiver depth chart. D.J. Moore was a critical part of the package Carolina sent […]

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. has had a slow start to his NFL career, catching just 44 of his 77 targets for 628 yards and one touchdown. Carolina's QB situation has been less than ideal, but the 2021 second-round pick's production is still disappointing. However, Marshall said he'll enter training camp with a clear mind and is he's ready for a fresh start with a new coaching staff. "I'd say one word to describe it is just clear -- clear-minded, just ready to take on what this year's going to bring," Marshall said. "Just taking it one day at a time, really. Just grinding it out with the team, getting work right with the scheme and QBs. I'm ready to go." Time will tell if the new staff will benefit Marshall, but the former LSU Tiger could be on the outside looking in on the Panthers' wide receiver depth chart. He'll compete with Adam Thielen, Jonathan Mingo, and DJ Chark to earn targets in 2023. For now, he's nothing more than a late-round dart throw in deep fantasy leagues.
