Darnell Mooney On Course To Play In Week 3

Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney (knee) was a full participant during the team's practice on Friday. Mooney was banged up in the Bears loss to the Buccaneers in Week 2 and failed to record a catch in the game. He has been listed as a limited participant all week but all signs point toward Mooney playing this Sunday. The talented receiver posted 53 yards with one touchdown in Week 1 and has shown a solid rapport with quarterback Justin Fields in the past. But the Bears offense has looked terrible through the first two games and Mooney is not fantasy playable at this time.

Darnell Mooney Avoids Any Injury Designation Against Chiefs

Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney (knee) was a full participant at practice on Friday and is officially good to go for their Week 3 matchup against the Chiefs. His knee injury was believed to be minor when he left their last game against Tampa Bay and it looks like that is confirmed. He was unable to record any stats in Week 2 but did have four catches for 53 yards and a touchdown in Week 1. Even though he's healthy for this matchup, Mooney is a low-level flex play at best in deeper leagues. The Chiefs have proven to have a good defense and Justin Fields is still working through some accuracy issues.

Darnell Mooney Limited Again On Thursday

Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney (knee) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice with a knee injury. The 25-year-old also got in a limited session on Wednesday, putting him in position to play in Week 3 against the Kansas City Chiefs if he is present in some capacity once again on Friday. The Bears will need all the ammunition they can find in order to keep pace with the Chiefs on Sunday, so they'll hope Mooney is good to go by then. The fourth-year wideout caught four of seven passes for 53 yards and a touchdown in the season opener, but was held catchless before exiting Week 2 early in the second half. Mooney would be a dart-throw WR4/FLEX if he is ultimately able to play in Week 3.

Darnell Mooney Puts In Limited Practice

Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney (knee) was listed as a limited participant in practice on Wednesday. After playing 84 percent of the offensive snaps in the season opener, Mooney suffered a knee injury in the Week 2 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and played just 28 percent of the snaps while not catching a single pass. The good news is that Mooney's knee ailment isn't serious, so he has a chance to play this weekend as the Bears look to get their first win of the year against the Kansas City Chiefs. The 25-year-old was seen as a potential bounce-back candidate in 2023 after an injury-plagued 2022 campaign, but it's hard to trust any Chicago pass-catcher right now with how bad their passing attack has looked through the first two weeks of the season.

Darnell Mooney's Injury Isn't Serious

Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney's knee injury that he suffered in the Week 2 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday isn't considered serious, according to a source. Mooney referred to his injury as a "nagging bruise" and thinks he'll be "fine" heading into a Week 3 meeting with the Kansas City Chiefs. The 25-year-old didn't put up any points for fantasy managers on Sunday because of his injury, but he'll have an opportunity to bounce back in Week 3 as long as he doesn't suffer a setback with his knee injury. Mooney had 53 yards and a touchdown in the season opener in Week 1 but didn't have a single target on Sunday. If Mooney does miss the Week 3 contest, Chase Claypool will have a shot to prove he still belongs in the starting lineup.

NFL Injury Updates: Burrow, Richardson, Barkley, Thomas

Bengals fans have been plenty frustrated with the team’s return on investment from quarterback Joe Burrow‘s record-breaking extension. Through two games, Burrow has averaged 152 yards per game while throwing two touchdowns and an interception. People were concerned about the calf injury that forced him out of practice early in training camp this summer and […]

Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney's (knee) knee injury he sustained in Sunday's 27-17 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is not considered a serious setback. The 25-year-old was forced from Week 2's meeting during the second half and was not targeted before exiting. Chase Claypool stepped up to haul in a touchdown pass after his Week 1 effort, or lack thereof, was questioned. It doesn't seem as though Mooney is staring at an extended absence. His practice status will need to be observed throughout the week, though, to clarify his availability for Week 3's road outing against the Kansas City Chiefs. D.J. Moore could be peppered with targets after leading Chicago in receiving in Week 2 if Mooney is unable to play.

Darnell Mooney Questionable To Return Sunday

Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney (knee) is questionable to return in Week 2 versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After totaling 53 yards and one touchdown during the season opener, he had failed to log a single target prior to exiting this Sunday. Some combination of Chase Claypool, Velus Jones Jr., and Equanimeous St. Brown will handle additional snaps in Mooney's absence.

Darnell Mooney - Week 2 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney will look to continue his solid play in Week 2 against the Buccaneers. Mooney had been recovering all offseason from ankle surgery and returned to the lineup last week by delivering four catches for 53 yards and one touchdown. Tampa Bay's secondary certainly has been vulnerable in seasons past, allowing the eighth most fantasy points to opposing receivers last season. But the Bears passing offense opened the season in complete shambles and Mooney was the only one to shine through. Mooney should carry WR5 value heading into Week 2.

Darnell Mooney Catches Touchdown Against Packers

Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney led the team with 53 receiving yards and a touchdown in the Bears 38-14 loss to the Packers in Week 1. Mooney saw a team-high seven targets and displayed the only down-field offense during an inept Chicago offensive performance to kick off the season. Mooney also picked up his first touchdown of the season in the second half. The Bears offense will be under the microscope heading into Week 2 but Mooney was a lone bright spot.

Darnell Mooney Has Something To Prove In Week 1

Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney has plenty to prove as the team prepares to play the Packers in Week 1. Ankle surgery sidelined Mooney for the second half of last season and most of the offseason. He returned healthy in time for the start of training camp but it will be intriguing to see how effective he can be right out of the gate. Mooney will be entering a contract year and has shown in the past to represent solid WR2/3 value in the Bears offense. Mooney will carry WR5/6 value into Week 1 as he will have to also compete for targets with newly acquired star receiver D.J. Moore.

Offseason In Review: Chicago Bears

Coming into this offseason with the most cap space, the Bears used it in different ways. In addition to outbidding competitors for Tremaine Edmunds, Chicago filled other needs at guard and defensive end. GM Ryan Poles‘ second draft also is set to include multiple Week 1 starters, but this offseason — and more after that […]

Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney (ankle) was cleared for training camp earlier this week after suffering a season-ending broken ankle in Week 12 last season. However, the Bears coaching staff is easing him back into action at the start of training camp action. According to Adam Hoge of CHGO Sports -- he did some 7-on-7 work today and looked pretty good. Mooney said he has full confidence in his ability to plant and separate. "Whenever they let me out of the cage," Mooney said. "I'm ready to go." The former 1,000-yard receiver will likely be utilized as a field stretcher in 2023, so Chicago will probably continue to limit his on-field work for at least the next couple of practices.

Darnell Mooney Cleared To Practice

Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney (ankle) has been cleared to practice ahead of the start of training camp, according to general manager Ryan Poles. Mooney caught 40 passes for 493 yards and two touchdowns last season before suffering a broken ankle in Week 12 against the New York Jets. Mooney's clean bill of health this early in the offseason is a good sign, but his fantasy output has a wide range of outcomes in 2023. Chicago added DJ Moore to be its No. 1 wide receiver, and the team will still likely have a run-first mindset this season. Justin Fields is also an unproven passer, so it remains to be seen if he can support multiple high-end fantasy pass-catchers. For now, Mooney will carry a boom-or-bust outlook and is best suited for best ball formats.

Bears WR Darnell Mooney Expected To Be Cleared For Training Camp

The Bears have made a number of changes to their receiving corps this offseason, but returnee Darnell Mooney is set to once again be a central figure in the team’s passing attack. Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney (ankle) appears to be fully recovered from his ankle injury with training camp just over two weeks away. "I'm feeling good. I'm ready to roll," Mooney said. He played in just 12 games in 2022 due to his injury, finishing with 40 catches for 493 yards and two touchdowns. Mooney will now be competing for targets alongside DJ Moore and Chase Claypool, but he could represent a nice value late in fantasy drafts as a WR4/5. The 25-year-old former fifth-rounder had a 1,000-yard season in 2021 and will be flying under the radar coming off ankle surgery and after the team traded for Moore, who will operate as their new No. 1 wideout.
