Mike's Thoughts: Very low projected rushing TD, but very high projected receptions, so obviously, a better choice in PPR leagues. The rest of the Chargers RB depth chart is pretty uninspiring, so Ekeler should have a heavy workload. Drafted Ekeler 1.11 (11) in a 1QB 12-team best ball on 8/16.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have very high expectations for first-round rookie running back Najee Harris this season. Team GM Kevin Colbert told reporters that he thinks Harris can be a three-down back as soon as his rookie year. Colbert was quoted as saying, "Him coming in as a senior out of college, he has more experience than some of the other underclassmen, so I think that will help him transition. He's coming out a traditional NFL-type offense that should help him transition." In the Mike Tomlin era, the Steelers have been a team that likes to feature one running back, with Najee Harris queued up to be the next bell-cow back for the team. He is a safe bet to finish as an RB1 in fantasy this season and is worth picking as early as the second round in fantasy drafts. (Jul 27, )

  • Najee Harris Scores First NFL Touchdown

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Najee Harris found the end zone for the first time in his NFL career in a 26-17 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 2. Harris carried the ball 10 times for 38 yards and added five catches for 43 yards and a receiving touchdown in the loss. The rookie running back showed some tackle-breaking prowess, shedding a tackle attempt on his touchdown reception and also leveling a would-be tackler with a vicious stiff-arm in the contest. Through his first two games, Harris has had trouble finding room to run behind a shaky Pittsburgh offensive line but he has the skills in the passing game to offset those issues. Harris will be on the RB1/RB2 borderline in a plus matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 3.

  • Najee Harris Looks To Bounce Back In Week 2

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Najee Harris turned in a slow performance in a Week 1 win over the Buffalo Bills, rushing for just 45 yards on 16 carries. He has a good chance to bounce back in Week 2 as the Steelers will welcome the Las Vegas Raiders to Pittsburgh on Sunday. The Raiders coughed up 98 rushing yards and two touchdowns to the Baltimore Ravens running backs in Week 1 and allowed the fourth-most fantasy points per game to the position in 2020. Harris should feast this week as he settles in as a mid-range RB1 for fantasy this weekend.

  • Najee Harris Rushes For 45 Scoreless Yards In Week 1

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Najee Harris turned in a slow outing in his NFL debut in Week 1. Harris carried the ball 16 times for 45 yards while adding a four-yard reception in his team's 23-16 win over the Buffalo Bills. The entire Pittsburgh offense struggled to get much going in the first half as they were shut out by the Buffalo defense. Things picked up in the second half. Even though Harris was unable to find the end zone in the win, he came close when he was tackled at the Buffalo two-yard line on his lone catch. The good news is that Harris dominated Pittsburgh's backfield touches as the rookie was the only running back to see a carry in the contest. Harris should fare better in Week 2 against the Las Vegas Raiders at home.

  • Najee Harris A Low-End RB1 For Week 1

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Najee Harris will open the year as the unquestioned lead back in his team's backfield. In Week 1, Harris draws a plus matchup against the Buffalo Bills to kick off his NFL career. The Bills allowed the 12th-most fantasy points per game to the running back position in 2020, paving the way for Harris to get off on the right foot in his rookie campaign. The Bills are installed as 6.5-point home favorites, setting up a potential game script that does not favor Harris. That being said, the rookie is a skilled pass catcher who should be on the field in most passing situations. Fantasy gamers can treat Harris as a low-end RB1 for Week 1's matchup.

  • Najee Harris Will Rest During Preseason Finale

Pittsburgh Steelers rookie running back Najee Harris will not play in the preseason finale against the Carolina Panthers. The original plan was for Harris to play in every preseason game, but head coach Mike Tomlin ultimately decided to rest Harris in the finale and scout the other running backs to see who will be behind Harris on the depth chart. Kalen Ballage. Benny Snell Jr., Anthony McFarland Jr.and Jaylen Samuels will compete to see who will be the backup running back. Snell has missed most of training camp due to a lower-body injury. The most streamable option for DFS managers will be Ballage because of his ability to find the end zone. Harris will be ready for battle Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills.

  • Najee Harris Goes For 63 Yards In Third Preseason Game

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Najee Harris carried the ball four times for 10 yards and added two receptions for 53 yards in a 26-20 win over the Detroit Lions in a preseason game on Saturday. Harris did most of his damage on a 46-yard reception where he caught a short pass, broke a few tackles, and flew down the right sideline for a long gain. The rookie running back has yet to find the end zone during his three preseason games but he remains the unquestioned starter in Pittsburgh. The offensive line for the Steelers is a bit of a question mark this year but Harris will get enough work to offset those issues. He's worth drafting around the first-round/second-round turn in fantasy drafts this year.

  • Najee Harris Sees Just Three Touches In Second Preseason Game

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Najee Harris was quiet in his team's second preseason game. Harris received just two carries, going for 10 yards while adding a nine-yard reception in the contest, a 24-16 win over the Philadelphia Eagles. The rookie running back saw more work in his team's first preseason game last week when he received eight touches. The Steelers clearly plan to install Harris as their starter in the regular season, so his lack of work in Thursday's game is not a concern. Harris can be drafted as a low-end RB1 for fantasy drafts this season.

  • Steelers Show Increase in Pre-Snap Motion at Hall of Fame Game

While Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins was in Thursday's preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys, Pittsburgh dialed up 11 pre-snap motion calls on 13 pass attempts. Last season, they used pre-snap motion just 31.7% of passing attempts. NBC's Warren Sharp noted that when teams use pre-snap motion, their success rate increases. In 2020, the Titans and Ravens led the league in pre-snap motion (notably Steelers' competitors for the AFC Playoffs) and also were both top-10 in offensive DVOA. The Steelers ranked in the bottom third in offensive DVOA in 2020. Introducing more pre-snap motion should increase the efficiency of the Steelers' offense and make players like Chase Claypool, Diontae Johnson, and Najee Harris more appealing options this draft season.

  • Najee Harris Sees Eight Touches In HOF Game

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Najee Harris carried the ball seven times for 22 yards and added a three-yard reception in a 16-3 win over the Dallas Cowboys in the Hall of Fame Game on Thursday. Despite the quiet stat line, head coach Mike Tomlin was impressed by the rookie's performance, stating, "He did all of the things we've been watching him do. It's a really good start for him." Harris is widely expected to open the season as the team's workhorse running back and can be drafted as a quality RB1 in fantasy as soon as early in the second round of drafts.

  • Najee Harris Impressing Big Ben

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Najee Harris has impressed quarterback Ben Roethlisberger in the early going. Roethlisberger stated on the NFL's Instagram page, "Once (Najee) gets it and it clicks and he goes full-speed, man, it is going to be something to see." The rookie out of Alabama is expected to see a heavy workload right off the bat after the Steelers used their first-round pick on him. Harris has an impressive combination of size (232 pounds) and pass-catching chops (43 receptions in 2020) and is a good bet to post an RB1 season in his rookie campaign. He is worth drafting as the RB1 for your fantasy squad heading into the 2021 season.
