Fantasy Advice

Not getting a warm and fuzzy feeling about offensive coordinator Matt Canada. Steelers Nation has their pitchforks at the ready if this offense stumbles out of the gate. Even though the OL was a mess and a rookie QB played in 13 games (12 starts), we expected more last year with the skill players at Canada's disposal. Harris specifically dealt with serious foot issues last season, limiting his mobility. He should be in line for similar high touches, and he can catch. He's just more of a plodder than a dynamic play maker. RB19 in PPG last year is not good, but follow the volume and I think Najee will show the foot played a bigger limiting factor last year than people realize. This is a fair price.

  • Steelers Non-Committal On Najee Harris' Fifth-Year Option

    Headshot for Najee Harris

While Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Omar Khan said that the team thinks "very highly" of running back Najee Harris, he was also non-committal on whether the team will pick up his fifth-year option. Harris' future is thus uncertain despite the fact that he's recorded three straight 1,000-yard seasons while making team history. Harris' fifth-year option, which was set at $6.79 million, must be decided on by May 2. If they pick it up, it would become fully guaranteed for the 2025 season. It would be a surprise if Pittsburgh didn't pick it up, considering they have invested heavily in a ground-and-pound offensive rushing attack and just hired Arthur Smith as their new offensive coordinator. The 25-year-old would figure to have a solid fantasy floor if he sticks with the Steelers, although Jaylen Warren will continue to be a thorn in his upside.

    Headshot for Le'Veon Bell

Le’Veon Bell has not played in the NFL since 2021, but he is aiming to change that soon. The former All-Pro running back recently went public with his intention to return to the NFL. Bell made it clear in a series of Snapchat videos that he will train this offseason in a bid to find […]

  • Najee Harris, Jaylen Warren To Be Integral Part Of Offense

    Headshot for Najee Harris

With the Pittsburgh Steelers hiring former Atlanta Falcons head coach Arthur Smith as their new offensive coordinator on Tuesday, it signals that they are committed to being a run-first team, which is good news for the fantasy stock of both running backs Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren. Smith underwhelmed in three years in Atlanta, but his body of work in the NFL shows he's well-positioned to utilize a roster that has a potentially dominant RB tandem, especially if paired with an above-average offensive line and serviceable quarterback. Smith's offenses in Atlanta and Tennessee consistently had some of the NFL's best rushing attacks. "I think we have two high-performing running backs in Najee and Jaylen and they, along with an improving offensive line, can be the foundation of success going forward," owner Art Rooney II said.

  • Steelers To Hire Arthur Smith As OC

    Headshot for Najee Harris

Not long after Arthur Smith landed on the radar of the Steelers for their offensive coordinator vacancy, an agreement has been reached. The ex-Falcons head coach is expected to take over as Pittsburgh’s OC, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Smith’s three-year run at the helm of the Falcons came to an end on Black Monday after […]

  • Steelers Expected To Hire Arthur Smith As Offensive Coordinator

    Headshot for Najee Harris

The Pittsburgh Steelers are expected to hire former Atlanta Falcons head coach Arthur Smith as their offensive coordinator, according to sources. Smith had a top running game as the Tennessee Titans' offensive coordinator before becoming the Falcons' head coach three years ago. He'll now be coaching Najee Harris, Jaylen Warren and company in Pittsburgh. Smith never got his offenses going in Atlanta, mainly because he never figured out the quarterback position. The situation is very similar in Pittsburgh, with Kenny Pickett potentially competing with Mason Rudolph (if he's re-signed) for the starting gig in training camp this summer. In Smith's defense, the Falcons did have the third-most rushing yards in 2022. If anything, the move to hire Smith will be good news for Harris and Warren in 2024.

The Steelers are expected to exercise running back Najee Harris‘ fifth-year option prior to the May 2 deadline, per Mark Kaboly of The Athletic (subscription required).
