Chase Young Could Open Season On Injured Reserve
Washington Commanders defensive end Chase Young (knee) is not expected to be ready for the beginning of the season. The former No. 2 overall pick is recovering from an ACL tear that he suffered in Week 10 of last season. Since then, the organization has not placed a timetable on Young and said he'll likely enter training camp on the PUP list. That being said, it seems highly unlikely that Young is ready by the regular season. It's possible that Young enters the new season on the injured reserve. That means, Young would miss at least the first four games of next season. The young stud pass rusher is expected to return at some point next season, but who knows when exactly that will happen.

Washington Commanders head coach Ron Rivera said that defensive end Chase Young (knee) will "more than likely" begin training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list. Young is still recovering from a torn ACL he suffered in mid-November of last year, and he hasn't taken part in any offseason activities to this point. If the 23-year-old remains on the PUP list once Week 1 rolls around, he'll have to miss at least the first six games of the season. The former second overall pick was a Pro Bowler in his rookie season in 2020, but he only played in nine games last year while recording 26 tackles (15 solo), 1.5 sacks, three tackles for loss, four QB hits and two fumble recoveries. Young will still be attractive in IDP leagues if he's ready for the season opener, but he could get off to a slow start.

Washington Commanders star pass-rusher Chase Young (knee) has returned to the team's practice facilities to continue rehabbing a torn ACL in his right knee, and the 2020 Defensive Rookie of the Year is unsure when he'll be able to return to the field. He remains on track in his recovery, but he isn't taking part in the team's voluntary organized team activities. There's no real rush for Young, and the season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 1 will mark roughly 11 months since Young injured his knee. "Everything is going as planned," Young said. "I'm happy where I'm at, and I'm confident on everything I'm doing going forward." The 23-year-old former second overall pick had just 1.5 sacks in nine games before his devastating knee injury, so those in IDP formats might not want to overspend on the talented pass-rusher coming off a major injury.

The 23-year-old tore his right ACL during the Week 10 matchup versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and has been away from the team rehabbing, recently skipping OTAs. After Young made the Pro Bowl during his rookie year, his production declined significantly in 2021, finishing with only 1.5 sacks. It's unknown if he'll be ready to roll by Week 1, although based on his regression from last season, he isn't a lock to be the dominant force he was coming out of college.
