  • Trevor Lawrence, Travis Etienne Jr. Expected To Play On Friday

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence and running back Travis Etienne Jr. are both expected to take part in Friday's preseason game against the Cleveland Browns. Head coach Doug Pederson said he will let the starters play in a couple of series. Neither of them participated in the Hall-of-Fame game last Thursday, so this will be their first on-field action together. Etienne missed his entire rookie season with a Lisfranc injury, essentially making this his rookie year. Etienne is currently competing with James Robinson (Achilles) to be the lead back in this offense and is expected to have a big role in the receiving game, adding to his fantasy value as a top-24 option, especially in PPR leagues.

  • James Robinson Taking Snaps With First-Team Offense

Jacksonville Jaguars running back James Robinson (Achilles) is taking snaps with the first-team offense at training camp practice on Monday for the first time all summer, which seems pretty significant, according to SI.com's John Shipley. Robinson is attempting to come back from a torn Achilles suffered last year, and most of the offseason hype has gone to Travis Etienne Jr., who missed all of his rookie season with a foot injury. Robinson, 23, seems to be recovering nicely and has a chance to be ready for Week 1, but it remains to be seen how Robinson and Etienne will co-exist in head coach Doug Pederson's offense. At the very minimum, Etienne will take a significant amount of pass-game work, but Robinson shouldn't be overlooked as an RB3/flex in the later rounds of fantasy drafts.

  • James Robinson Making Daily Progress

Jacksonville Jaguars running back James Robinson (Achilles) is making daily progress from his Achilles injury that he suffered last December, and he started this week by taking the practice field for a few repetitions to run some routes with the offense on Monday. Robinson is still limited, but he looks to be progressing nicely in terms of being ready for the regular season. Last week, head coach Doug Pederson said he felt a return in mid-August could be an estimation for Robinson to be 100%. Pederson also said in the spring that the 23-year-old remains the starter, although Travis Etienne Jr. will see plenty of work out of the backfield as a pass-catcher. Etienne is the sexier fantasy pick, especially in PPR leagues, and has been impressive so far, but fantasy managers shouldn't forget about Robinson as an RB3/4 for depth in standard-scoring leagues.

  • James Robinson Still Viewed As Top Back

Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said in the spring that the team still views running back James Robinson (Achilles) as the top back, and the team didn't place him on the Physically Unable to Perform list to begin training camp. However, Travis Etienne Jr. will be heavily involved in the passing game and has lined up out wide and in the slot multiple times in practices. Offensive coordinator Press Taylor said he can see Etienne being used similar to the way the Eagles used Brian Westbrook years ago. ESPN's Michael DiRocco guesses that Robinson will have more carries than Etienne, but Etienne could have a slight lead in total touches by season's end. Etienne has gotten all the hype so far in practices and is the higher-ceiling back for sure in PPR formats, but don't sleep on Robinson as an RB3/flex type in standard-scoring leagues.

  • James Robinson Not On PUP List To Start Training Camp

Jacksonville Jaguars running back James Robinson (Achilles) will not start training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list after suffering a torn Achilles in Week 16 of the 2021 season. Head coach Doug Pederson says that Robinson is "hopeful" for a mid-August return, which would be just seven months after he suffered the injury. If the 23-year-old is able to suit up in Week 1, it'll make the Jacksonville backfield a two-headed monster along with Travis Etienne Jr. It is unclear how much of a workload Robinson will be able to handle out of the gate, but Pederson views the third-year stud as a three-down back. Still, Etienne should not be ignored even if Robinson is healthy when Week 1 rolls around. The presence of one another likely puts a cap on each of their upsides, but Etienne could be the more appealing option in PPR formats because of his pass-catching ability and rapport with quarterback Trevor Lawrence going back to their time at Clemson.

  • James Robinson Making Progress

Jacksonville Jaguars running back James Robinson (Achilles) appears to be progressing toward his return. A recent video was posted to Twitter which showed Robinson changing directions. Granted, he wasn't moving at full speed, but it was still encouraging. The 23-year-old has been a reliable fantasy contributor since entering the league in 2020, running for 1,837 yards and 15 touchdowns. He also had 80 catches for 566 yards and three touchdowns on the receiving end during that span. Head coach Doug Pederson reportedly has big plans for the former Redbird once healthy, so fantasy managers with room on the roster should consider stashing him. Robinson's eventual comeback will likely also negatively impact the potential production of Travis Etienne, who is anticipated to get plenty of touches in the meantime. As a result, picking up both men during fantasy drafts may be the way to go.

  • Jaguars Expect James Robinson Clearance During Training Camp

While bigger-picture matters plagued the Jaguars last season, their preferred backfield never took shape. Travis Etienne‘s preseason injury came months before James Robinson‘s Achilles tear, with the latter development clouding Jacksonville’s backfield for 2022 as well. Etienne participated during the Jags’ OTAs and looks to be a key part of Doug Pederson‘s offense. Robinson is […]

  • James Robinson Could Return To A Big Role

Jacksonville Jaguars running back James Robinson (Achilles) is expected to have a large role in the offense whenever he returns, with head coach Doug Pederson calling him a three-down back in March. Robinson was on a tear last year before his Achilles injury in Week 8 derailed his season, as he had rushed 88 times for 482 yards and was eighth in the NFL in rushing yards, seventh in rushing scores and sixth in yards per attempt. When he has been 100%, he has been one of the best players at his position in the entire league. However, although Robinson's recovery has been going well, the team is still in wait-and-see mode with training camp approaching, and Travis Etienne has looked fully recovered from a Lisfranc foot injury that kept him out his entire rookie season. As a result, Etienne is being valued as an RB2 with upside in fantasy, while Robinson is a late-round flier currently.

  • James Robinson Unlikely Ready For Training Camp

Jacksonville Jaguars running back James Robinson (Achilles) is not expected to be ready for training camp. The 23-year-old continues to recover from a torn Achilles that ended his 2021 campaign. Robinson reportedly resumed running in early June, but that doesn't mean he'll be ready for training camp in July. Travis Etienne could very well begin the season as the starter, assuming Robinson isn't ready. His stock will continue to climb until Robinson gets back on the field.

  • Latest On Jaguars' James Robinson

The Jaguars’ running game was a fraction of what it could have been in 2021, considering the tandem of James Robinson and first-rounder Travis Etienne. Injuries dealt a major blow to both of them, and the team’s offense struggled in no small part as a result.  In Robinson’s case, his season was ended in December by a torn […]

  • James Robinson Resumes Running

Jacksonville Jaguars running back James Robinson (Achilles) is back on the field and doing some running. Robinson is being held out of organized team activities, and it remains to be seen how much he'll actually do at training camp in late July. But this is a notable step for the 23-year-old, who was limited to 14 games last year after tearing his left Achilles in late December. It looks like his recovery process is going well, but with his status for the regular season opener still in doubt, his fantasy stock will be down, especially with second-year RB Travis Etienne (foot) looking like his old explosive self in offseason practices after missing all of his rookie season with a Lisfranc injury. Robinson's progress will be watched closely next month.

  • Travis Etienne Jr. A Full-Go For Practices

Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said that running back Travis Etienne (foot) is a full-go for all practice activities as the team starts their offseason program. Etienne missed all of his rookie season last year after suffering a Lisfranc injury in training camp. The first-rounder's stock is on the rise heading into the 2022 season, especially with James Robinson behind him while recovering from an Achilles tear. Both Robinson and Etienne will be involved in the Jaguars offense when they are healthy, but Etienne could enter Week 1 as the unquestioned lead back if Robinson isn't ready to go. The Jaguars also have Ryquell Armstead and rookie Snoop Conner in the backfield as depth options.
