  • Joe Burrow Won't Play In Preseason Opener

Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor confirmed on Wednesday that quarterback Joe Burrow (appendix) won't play in the team's preseason opener on Friday against the Arizona Cardinals. Burrow remains without a timetable to return to training camp after undergoing an appendectomy on July 26. However, he was seen making some light throws at practice on Monday. It wouldn't be a surprise if the 25-year-old didn't suit up at all in the preseason, but he is fully expected to be ready for Week 1 of the regular season. After leading a talented Bengals offense all the way to the Super Bowl in just his second NFL season, Burrow will be a strong QB1 target in fantasy football.

  • No Timetable For Joe Burrow's Return

Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor won't put a timetable on quarterback Joe Burrow's (appendix) return to training camp practices after undergoing an appendectomy in late July. "He's starting to get better every single day," Taylor said. "Again, I don't want to put a timeline on when he gets out here and starts throwing and stuff, but it's been encouraging. He's back to himself in meetings so looking good." Taylor remains optimistic that Burrow isn't in danger of missing the Week 1 opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The 25-year-old returned from a left knee injury in his rookie year to lead the Bengals to their first Super Bowl appearance since 1988, throwing for 4,611 yards and 34 touchdowns in the regular season. He'll be a strong QB1 target in fantasy drafts despite his appendix issue.

  • Joe Burrow Does Light Throwing Monday

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow (appendix) was seen at training camp practice on Monday doing some very light throwing. It's the first time that Burrow has done anything since having an appendectomy on July 26. The Bengals are easing their star quarterback back onto the field at camp, and he has plenty of time to heal up before Week 1 of the regular season, so fantasy managers shouldn't have any concerns with drafting him as a strong QB1 option this year. The 25-year-old outperformed expectations in his second season after coming off an ACL tear in 2020, throwing for 4,611 yards (a league-high 70.4 completion percentage), 34 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in 16 regular season games. With one of the better receiver duos in the NFL, Burrow will have a high ceiling and floor in Year 3.

  • Joe Burrow Back With The Team

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow (appendix) was back in the team's locker room at training camp on Thursday and seemed to be walking OK across the locker room. Burrow had surgery last Tuesday to remove his appendix, and head coach Zac Taylor said at the time that there was no timetable on Burrow's return. It's good news that the 25-year-old is back with the Bengals, but it doesn't mean he'll return to practice right away, and he could be eased back into drills when he's ready. Brandon Allen has been handling most of the first-team repetitions. Burrow will probably be held out of the first preseason game as well, but he should be all systems go for the regular season. With some of the best receivers in the league at his disposal, Burrow will be a strong QB1 selection going into his third year.

  • No Timetable For Joe Burrow

Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor isn't putting a timetable on when quarterback Joe Burrow (appendix) will return to training camp practices after undergoing an appendectomy earlier this week. There don't appear to be any concerns that Burrow will be out for too long, but the Bengals clearly aren't rushing him back onto the field. "I don't have any timetable," Taylor said on Saturday. "We're just trying to give him some privacy, and I'm sure he'll be back in when he's ready." There's a good chance that Burrow will be eased back into work once he returns to the team, but he'll be ready in plenty of time for the start of the regular season. After an immense bounce-back season in his second NFL campaign, Burrow is a strong QB1 target for fantasy managers in 2022.

  • Joe Burrow Having Surgery On Appendix

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow (appendix) is undergoing surgery to remove his appendix, according to a source. He will miss some practice time at training camp as a result. Better now than during the regular season. The 25-year-old former first overall pick bounced back in a big way from a serious knee injury in his rookie year by completing a league-high 70.4% of his 520 passing attempts in 2021 for 4,611 yards, 34 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in 16 regular season games before leading the Bengals to a Super Bowl appearance. Burrow also led the league in yards gained per attempt (8.9), adjusted yards gained per pass attempt (9.0), but he was also sacked a league-high 51 times. With a better offensive line in front of him, Burrow should be a safe QB1 selection once the elite names come off the board.

  • Bengals Focus Is To Extend Joe Burrow

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is one of the brightest young stars in the game right now. That being said, the organization mentioned that extending Burrow is the main focus of the team. The 25-year-old will be eligible for a contract extension at the end of the season. He'll certainly get a hefty contract with the way he has been playing since returning from his torn ACL. It wouldn't be shocking to see Burrow get a deal in the range of $200 million. Regardless, it sounds like the organization is committed to bringing back Burrow as their long term future quarterback.

  • La'el Collins Lands On Active/Non-Football Injury List

Cincinnati Bengals tackle La'el Collins will begin training camp on the active/non-football injury list. The 28-year-old signed a three-year, $30 million contract this offseason and was a key addition for Cincy as the team prioritized adding more protection for Joe Burrow and Joe Mixon in 2022-23. Collins can be activated anytime, and while it's not guaranteed, he should be ready for Week 1.

  • Joe Burrow Named "Best Young Gun"

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has more than enough hype as he enters his third year in the NFL. The former LSU Tiger had a spectacular sophomore season. He recovered from the season-ending knee injury that cost him the remainder of his rookie year and also led the Bengals to a Super Bowl appearance. However, while the debate continues regarding who is the most promising up-and-coming signal-caller going, ESPN's Dan Orlovsky recently named Burrow the "best young-gun" in the league, age 25 or younger. Although Justin Herbert may have something to say about that, Burrow certainly has an excellent chance of being one of the most potent fantasy options in any format imaginable, especially with Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, and Joe Mixon at his disposal.

  • Joe Burrow Having Normal Offseason

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow (knee), who shed the knee brace he wore on his surgically repaired left knee all last year, is having his first reasonably normal offseason. "I've just been able to focus on the entirety of myself, weight room and conditioning, on field, throwing, mechanics, all of it, not really focusing on the knee," Burrow said. Despite being the most-sacked quarterback in 2021 due to an atrocious offensive line, Burrow led the Bengals to a Super Bowl appearance and will be a midrange QB1 target with what should be an improved O-line in 2022. The 25-year-old had a league-high 70.4% completion percentage in 2021 and threw for 4,611 yards, 34 touchdowns and 14 interceptions on 520 attempts during the regular season.

  • Bengals Prioritized Bolstering Offensive Line

The Bengals focused on upgrading the offensive line this offseason. After having one of the worst units in the league over the years, Cincinnati signed three free agents this offseason, specifically Ted Karras, Alex Cappa, and La'el Collins. Cincy also selected North Dakota State's Cordell Volson with the 136th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Unquestionably, the team knew that it needed to beef things up. However, after Aaron Donald sacked the Rams to a Super Bowl LVI victory, bolstering the line became even more necessary. Nonetheless, with the moves made already, Joe Burrow should have more time to throw the ball deep to Ja'Marr Chase, one of the league's best downfield threats. It may also open things up for Joe Mixon, who is coming off the best year of his career.
