  • Eagles Officially Promote Brian Johnson To Offensive Coordinator

The Philadelphia Eagles officially promoted quarterbacks coach Brian Johnson to offensive coordinator on Tuesday to replace new Indianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steichen, according to sources. Johnson had other opportunities for offensive coordinator jobs, but he ultimately chose to stay with the Eagles. Quarterback Jalen Hurts will now receive play calls from his former QB coach in 2023. In addition to Johnson, the Eagles also named former Colts offensive coordinator Marcus Brady as a senior offensive assistant, Alex Tanney as the new QBs coach and T.J. Paganetti as the run-game specialist/assistant tight ends coach. The 36-year-old Johnson spent a decade coaching in college before making his NFL coaching debut when Nick Sirianni landed the head-coaching job in Philly.

  • Jalen Hurts Could Get $50 Million Per Year

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is heading into his final season of his rookie contract. That being said, the organization is hopeful to reach an agreement on an extension with Hurts this offseason. ESPN's Dan Graziano believes Hurts could get $50 million or more per year from the Eagles. The 24-year-old does not have a fifth-year option because he was a second-round pick. That means, the Eagles are likely to get a deal done sooner rather than later before the price tag goes any higher. Hurts put together an MVP-like performance this past season. He is certainly deserving of a significant pay raise, but $50 million per season is a tough cap hit. It'll be interesting to see what happens over the course of the offseason.

  • Eagles GM Speaks About Jalen Hurts Contract Extension

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts became a top-tier signal-caller last season. He was in the MVP conversation all year, so naturally, the organization would love to keep him around. General manager Howie Roseman chimed in on the situation, stating that the team has a "good sense" of what it will take to keep Hurts on the roster while adding, "Obviously, we want to keep our best players here for the long term, and he's certainly one of our best players." Hurts, who is eligible to sign a contract extension this offseason, finished the 2022-23 campaign with 3,701 passing yards, 22 touchdowns, and six interceptions. He was also potent on the run, amassing 760 yards and 13 touchdowns off 165 attempts. Nevertheless, it's still early in the negotiation process, with talks likely to intensify in the coming months. However, the 24-year-old will be the first quarterback taken in many fantasy drafts ahead of Week 1 in September, regardless of the outcome of contract talks.

  • Eagles New OC Expected To Call Plays

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said he will continue the practice of having his offensive coordinator call the plays in games. Former offensive coordinator Shane Steichen left the organization to become the Indianapolis Colts' new head coach earlier this week, so Philly is looking to replace him after losing Super Bowl LVII to the Kansas City Chiefs. The obvious and expected replacement is quarterbacks coach Brian Johnson, who has been a big reason for quarterback Jalen Hurts' development over the last couple of seasons. Johnson and Hurts are also long-time family friends, so the Eagles are likely to want to continue that relationship going after Hurts became one of the best QBs in the NFL in 2022.

  • Brian Johnson Expected To Become Eagles Offensive Coordinator

Philadelphia Eagles quarterbacks coach Brian Johnson is expected to become the team's next offensive coordinator after Shane Steichen left the team to become the Indianapolis Colts' head coach. "The offensive coordinator is going to be Brian Johnson, that I don't think there's any question there. That you can take to the bank basically," ESPN's Adam Schefter said on 97.5 The Fanatic on Wednesday. Johnson has helped quarterback Jalen Hurts become one of the league's best QBs since joining the team in 2021. Hurts has also known Johnson since playing youth football in Texas. Before joining the Eagles, Johnson was the QBs coach at the University of Florida in 2018 and 2019. He played at the University of Utah as a QB and was named the Sugar Bowl MVP in 2009.

  • Jalen Hurts Scores Four Touchdowns In Losing Effort

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts completed 27-of-38 passes for 304 yards and one touchdown, adding 15 carries for 70 yards and three rushing touchdowns during the team's 38-35 loss to Kansas City in Super Bowl LVII. The 24-year-old had a nearly perfect game, with the only blemish on his stat sheet being a lost fumble that turned into a defensive return touchdown for the Chiefs. Coming into the season as a highly doubted quarterback who many believed could play himself out of a job in 2022 ended the year as one of the top extension candidates of the 2023 offseason and will be the Eagles' starter for years to come. With the only offensive skill player of note set to hit free agency being running back Miles Sanders, Hurts heads into the 2023 offseason as a clear-cut top-five fantasy quarterback with top-three upside.

  • Jalen Hurts Won't Be 100 Percent In Super Bowl

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (shoulder) is feeling better after suffering an SC joint sprain in his right shoulder on Dec. 18, but he's still not 100 percent healthy heading into Sunday's Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs. "I'm getting there," Hurts has said to reporters on more than one occasion. "I've made it clear this whole time it's something I'm dealing with." Despite the bye in the first round of the playoffs, Hurts hasn't had sufficient time to allow his injury to completely heal. The 24-year-old doesn't have any breaks and surgery isn't in his future, but it's a reminder that he's not fully healthy just yet. Meanwhile, Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes is still playing through a right high-ankle sprain, so both signal-caller's in this year's big game will be fighting through injuries.

  • Jalen Hurts Due For Enormous Extension

Philadelphia Eagles star quarterback Jalen Hurts could receive an extension "early in the offseason," according to Dan Graziano of ESPN.com. Not only will the talented signal-caller earn a big pay raise, but he could fetch a deal with more than $50 million in annual value, especially if Justin Herbert, Joe Burrow, and Lamar Jackson all sign deals that reset the quarterback market. Hurts' price tag is huge, but he is very much deserving of a big payday after his phenomenal 2022 season. This year, the MVP finalist went 14-1 with a 66.5 percent completion rate, 3,701 passing yards, 22 passing touchdowns, and six interceptions. He was also a dynamic threat on the ground, adding 760 rushing yards and 13 rushing touchdowns. Fantasy managers should view Hurts as a high-end QB1, and it would not be a surprise if he's the first quarterback off the board in most 2023 drafts.

  • Jalen Hurts Has Earned Extension

Philadelphia Eagles CEO Jeffrey Lurie said on Monday that quarterback Jalen Hurts is "just what we're looking for" when asked about the chances of initiating contract extension talks with Hurts at some point this offseason. "I don't think he has anything to prove [to be the long-term answer at quarterback]," Lurie said. "He is an MVP-caliber quarterback, an incredible leader of the team on the field, off the field." Hurts was a second-rounder in 2020 and has one year left on his rookie deal, but he's now eligible for an extension. He's scheduled to make a base salary of $4.2 million in 2023. The 24-year-old was the QB3 in overall fantasy points in 2022, behind only Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen, and he likely would have finished as the QB1 if not for right shoulder injury that cost him several games at the end of the regular season.

Five years after building a Super Bowl-winning roster around Carson Wentz‘s rookie contract, the Eagles are back on the NFL’s biggest stage thanks to a similar formula. • Jalen Hurts Tallies 160 Yards, Secures First NFC Championship

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts completed 15-of-25 passes for 121 yards, gained 39 yards on 11 carries, and scored a rushing touchdown during the team's 31-7 victory over the San Francisco 49ers. The third-year quarterback did not need to do much at all in this game, as Philadelphia dominated the 49ers' defense on the ground and had the game well in hand entering the second half. The aggressive nature of the Eagles' offense dissipated after San Francisco was down two scores and needed to trot out an injured Brock Purdy (elbow), who could not push the ball downfield. This, coupled with a heavy pass rush and coverage that exceeded expectations coming into the game, led to a disappointing stat line for the 24-year-old. However, Hurts should have a much better fantasy performance against the Kansas City defense in the Super Bowl. Many playing in DFS lineups will start Patrick Mahomes over Hurts, but the Eagles starting quarterback is still a viable option between the two that could finish with more points.

  • Jalen Hurts Eligible For Massive Extension

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is eligible for a massive contract extension this offseason. Since he wasn't a first-rounder, Hurts doesn't have a fifth-year option on his rookie deal. He's scheduled to make $4 million in 2023 on the final year of his rookie deal, but the Eagles and Hurts' representatives are expected to get together this offseason to see if they can work out what will no doubt be a huge extension. If not for a right shoulder injury that cost him a few games late in the regular season, the 24-year-old would have almost certainly been the overall QB1 in fantasy points in 2022. The MVP front-runner took a huge step in his third NFL season with a career-high 66.5% completion percentage, 3,701 yards, 22 touchdowns and six interceptions in 15 games. He also added 760 rushing yards and 13 TDs on 165 carries.

  • Jalen Hurts A Top Option Despite Tough Matchup

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will face the San Francisco 49ers this Sunday in the NFC Conference Championship game. The question marks surrounding the third-year quarterback's shoulder were laid to rest last week after the Eagles demolished the division-rival New York Giants 38-7. Hurts threw for only 154 yards but tossed two touchdowns, ran the ball nine times, and scored an additional time on the ground. He looked to initiate contact with his previously hurt shoulder, which did not make a difference. The 24-year-old will be a popular option in DFS and playoff lineups, even with stars Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow matched up in a potential shootout in the AFC title game. Despite the tough matchup against the 49ers' defense, Hurts is a great fantasy option this weekend and carries a high ceiling due to his rushing ability.

  • Jalen Hurts Tallies Three Touchdowns In Divisional Round Win

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts completed 16-of-24 passes for 154 yards and two touchdowns while adding nine carries for 34 yards and an additional score during the team's 38-7 victory over the New York Giants. The 24-year-old did not need to throw for 250-plus yards in this game as the Eagles tore up New York's defense on the ground, tallying 268 yards on the ground Saturday night. Any fears that Hurts was playing at less than 100% were put to rest, as he looked for contact early and often, setting up the Philadelphia rushing attack for an excellent performance. The third-year quarterback will look to parlay this performance into another win during next week's NFC Championship game against either Dallas or San Francisco. Hurts will be an elite option against either team at this point, being completely matchup-proof.

  • Jalen Hurts Not Quite 100 Percent Healthy

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (shoulder) will start under center against the New York Giants in the Divisional Round on Saturday. However, it sounds like the young quarterback still isn't 100 percent healthy. He admitted himself that he isn't quite over the shoulder injury that he suffered in Week 15. It hasn't impacted him on the practice field, but it sounds like he plans to play through the issue. This shouldn't affect his rushing ability, but possibly the Eagles go run-heavy with Hurts not being 100 percent healthy. He should be fine with plenty of rest of the offseason. Until then, Hurts plans to continue playing unless the injury gets worse.

  • Jalen Hurts Has High Upside In Divisional Round

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will face the New York Giants for a third time this Saturday in the NFC Divisional round. The 24-year-old had a rough outing in his return to action from a shoulder back in Week 18 of the regular season against the Giants. He completed 20-of-35 passes for 229 yards, threw one interception, and only logged 13 yards on nine carries. However, the third-year quarterback is in better health thanks to the bye week during the Wild Card round and has been left off the injury report this week. The leash will likely be taken off of Hurts, and he should run much more efficiently. Hurts tore apart the Giants during their first meeting in Week 14, tallying 288 total yards and three touchdowns. While there is elite quarterback talent available left for those to choose from in DFS lineups, the Eagles starting quarterback still possesses as high a scoring ceiling as other options like Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, and Joe Burrow.

  • Jalen Hurts Not On The Injury Report

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (shoulder), who has been dealing with a sprained right shoulder for around a month, is not listed on this week's injury report and was a full participant in Tuesday's practice. Hurts was a bit rusty in the Week 18 regular season finale against the New York Giants, but the good news is his shoulder is improving and he will play in the Divisional Round this Saturday against the same Giants. The 24-year-old dual-threat QB was the most valuable fantasy signal-caller in 2022 before injuring his right shoulder in Week 15. Hurts finished with a career-high 66.5% completion percentage, 3,701 passing yards, 22 touchdowns and six interceptions while also gaining 760 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns on 165 carries. He still has more upside than most QBs available this weekend, but he'll also carry more risk.

  • Jalen Hurts Throws Friday

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (shoulder) threw in practice on Friday. Hurts returned from a multi-week absence due to a sprained right shoulder in the Week 18 regular season finale and helped the team to a win over the New York Giants to secure the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs and a first-round bye. He went 20-for-35 for 229 yards, no touchdowns and an interception while also carrying the ball nine times for 13 yards. The Eagles didn't ask the 24-year-old to do too much, but hopefully he's closer to 100 percent when the team takes the field again in the Divisional Round next weekend. Hurts was the most valuable fantasy QB when he was healthy during the regular season, but he'll be a bit more risky in playoff leagues while still recovering from his shoulder injury.

  • Jalen Hurts Officially Active For Week 18

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (shoulder) is active for Week 18 against the New York Giants. Hurts missed the last two weeks but returns for a critical contest in which the Eagles need a win to secure the NFC's No. 1 seed. It sounds like the third-year quarterback is near 100 percent this week. As a result, he instantly becomes a high-end QB1 in fantasy football. Fantasy managers should be aware that the Eagles could pull Hurts and other starters if they jump out to a big lead, but even then, Hurts remains a must-start.

  • Jalen Hurts To Start In Week 18

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (shoulder) will suit up for the Week 18 matchup against the New York Giants. He has been limited in practice all week and was listed as questionable coming into this game. Despite that, Hurts will be out there for the first time since suffering a sprained right shoulder in Week 15. The Eagles need to win this game to secure a first-round bye week, so Hurts will need to shake off the rust quickly. The MVP-candidate should be a strong fantasy option against the Giants backups as they plan to rest a majority of their starters.

  • Jalen Hurts Officially Questionable For Week 18

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (shoulder) is officially listed as questionable to play in the Week 18 regular season finale against the New York Giants on Sunday. Hurts was limited in practice this week and appears to be on the right track to playing for the first time since spraining his right shoulder in Week 15. If the 24-year-old doesn't get the green light, backup Gardner Minshew would make his third straight start. However, in a game the Eagles need to win in order to secure the top overall seed in the NFL playoff picture and a first-round bye, we suspect that Hurts will be out there. If he's on the field, the MVP candidate is a must-start in single-season championship matchups, although he could be shaking off some rust and is unlikely to see many designed runs.

  • Jalen Hurts "Trending In The Right Direction" To Start In Week 18

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said quarterback Jalen Hurts (shoulder) is "trending in the right direction" towards starting versus the New York Giants. He was a limited participant in practice this week and is on track to start Sunday's game against the Giants. The 24-year-old has missed the last two games due to a right shoulder sprain. He has been terrific this season, throwing for 3,472 yards, 22 touchdowns, and five interceptions while rushing for 747 yards and 13 scores over 14 games in 2022. Hurts remains an elite option for the regular season finale against a Giants team that will most likely rest some of their key defensive starters.

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (shoulder) was limited in practice for the second day in a row. Despite Hurts being limited, it sounds like he'll likely be on the field for the Week 18 matchup against the New York Giants. He is taking first-time reps and is trending towards suiting up for this game. Although, fantasy managers should check back on Friday for another update on his status. The 24-year-old could be a bit rusty after not playing for a few weeks. Despite that, Hurts will remain a strong fantasy option against a Giants team that will likely be resting most of their key starters.

  • Jalen Hurts, Miles Sanders Limited Wednesday

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (shoulder) and running back Miles Sanders (knee) were both limited in Wednesday's walkthrough practice. After missing the last two games due to a right shoulder sprain, Hurts is trending towards returning in Week 18 against the New York Giants. The Eagles must win in order to secure the No. 1 seed in the NFC and a first-round bye in the playoffs. The 24-year-old has been the most valuable fantasy QB this year, but he could be rusty and/or face restrictions if he's active this weekend. Continue to keep a close eye on his practice status this week. Sanders played a season-low 40 percent of the offensive snaps last Sunday, but he should continue to serve as Philly's lead back against the Giants and will be in play as a strong RB2 choice in Week 18.

  • Jalen Hurts Expected To Be Available For Week 18

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (shoulder) is not going to suit up for the Week 17 matchup against the New Orleans Saints. However, the MVP-candidate could get back on the field for the Week 18 matchup against the New York Giants. Although, Philly would secure the No. 1 seed with a win over New Orleans. In that event, it's unlikely that the Eagles would deploy Hurts for the regular season finale. It sounds like Hurts is doing well though, so he'll most likely be available if needed for Week 18. This is good news for fantasy managers who are playing for something in Week 18. Although, we'll have to wait and see what happens during their matchup with the Saints this weekend.

  • Jalen Hurts Could Play In Week 18

If the Philadelphia Eagles win in Week 17 against the New Orleans Saints and clinch the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs, quarterback Jalen Hurts (shoulder) could play in Week 18 against the New York Giants to make sure he's not idle for more than a month heading into their first playoff game. Hurts is doubtful to play this Sunday, but sources said he made significant strides in practice and the team is confident he'll return in the short term. Fantasy managers playing for a title this week won't have the 24-year-old MVP candidate, but if you're still playing for something in Week 18, you may get lucky and get him back. However, there's also a very real possibility that Hurts doesn't even play a full game if he's active in the regular season finale. That's why most fantasy leagues usually end in the second-to-last week of the regular season.

  • Jalen Hurts Doubtful For Week 17

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (shoulder) was limited in practice on Thursday and Friday, but he'll head into the Week 17 game on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints with a doubtful tag. It shouldn't come as much of a surprise to fantasy managers after Hurts sprained his right shoulder in Week 15. This will be his second straight game on the sidelines. However, there's a chance he could play in Week 18 in the regular season finale if the Eagles have yet to clinch the NFC East division and a first-round bye in the playoffs. Backup Gardner Minshew is in line to make his second straight start in place of Hurts, and he'll be on the QB1/2 borderline after throwing for 355 yards and accounting for three TDs in last week's loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

  • Eagles Not Naming A Starting QB For Week 17 Yet

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni doesn't appear to be in a rush to name his starting quarterback for Week 17 against the New Orleans Saints after Jalen Hurts (shoulder) had a good practice on Thursday. Sirianni said: "We're still sorting through that" and "Jalen's health is the first thing you think of." The 24-year-old didn't play in Week 16 and was a DNP on Wednesday, but he returned to a limited practice on Thursday and did some throwing. The Eagles have yet to lock down the NFC East division, but our guess is Hurts will be rested one more week before potentially returning in Week 18 if Philly has yet to secure the NFC East and a first-round bye in the postseason. We'll have a better idea if it will be Hurts or backup Gardner Minshew after the Eagles release their final injury report on Friday.

  • Jalen Hurts Does Some Throwing Thursday

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (shoulder) was seen doing some throwing at the start of Thursday's practice. It's more than Hurts did last week, but there's still a chance he'll be listed as a non-participant on Thursday's final injury report after he was a DNP on Wednesday. The 24-year-old is dealing with a sprained right shoulder and missed the Week 16 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Although the Eagles have yet to lock up a first-round bye and home-field advantage in the NFC postseason, they could very well err on the side of caution and hold Hurts out for a second straight game this Sunday against the New Orleans Saints. Check back later for Hurts' official practice status. If he doesn't get cleared this weekend, Gardner Minshew will have plenty of QB2 upside in what would be his second start of the year.

  • No Practice For Jalen Hurts Wednesday

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (shoulder) missed the team's walkthrough practice on Wednesday. Hurts sprained his right shoulder in Week 15 and was held out of the Week 16 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. The Eagles still have not locked up the No. 1 seed in the NFC, but Hurts could easily miss his second straight game this weekend against the New Orleans Saints if the team doesn't think he's ready. As of now, fantasy managers shouldn't expect the 24-year-old MVP front-runner to play this Sunday. Backup Gardner Minshew stepped in seamlessly for the Eagles under center last Saturday and contributed over 300 yards passing and three total touchdowns. He'll be firmly in play as a QB2 in superflex leagues yet again if he makes another start.

  • Jalen Hurts Unlikely To Play In Week 17?

ESPN.com's Dan Graziano doesn't think the Philadelphia Eagles gave any real consideration to let quarterback Jalen Hurts (shoulder) play in Week 16 against the Dallas Cowboys, and Graziano would be surprised if Hurts plays in Week 17 against the New Orleans Saints. The real decision could end up being whether to let him play in Week 18 against the New York Giants so that he hasn't had five weeks off before the Divisional round of the playoffs (assuming they secure a first-round bye in the NFC). The Eagles seem to believe they'll get Hurts back before their first playoff game, but they still aren't sure about the extent to which the injury will affect him once he returns. Fantasy managers hoping to have the MVP front-runner available this weekend shouldn't get their hopes up. It will probably be Gardner Minshew Mania for at least another week.

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (shoulder) is considered day-to-day. However, with Philly dropping a critical game to the Cowboys on Christmas Eve, the signal-caller will push to make it back for the Week 17 meeting with the New Orleans Saints. That said, fantasy managers should keep Gardner Minshew on the roster, at least for now. Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (shoulder) is sidelined for Saturday's meeting against Dallas. However, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, there's concern that the signal-caller won't be available in Week 17 versus the New Orleans Saints either. ESPN's Stephania Bell also chimed in on Schefter's update, reporting that the team may take a "conservative" approach regarding Hurts' return due to the nature of his injury, meaning it's certainly possible he won't be back until the postseason. Fortunately, Philly has Gardner Minshew to handle things under center moving ahead. While Minshew isn't as talented as Hurts, he's someone to consider for those looking to fill a void at the position, especially with so many quarterbacks around the league dealing with injuries.
