12 Joe Burrow, CIN 10 24.8 10.05 21.3
13 Trevor Lawrence, JAC 7 22.0 12.06

Mike's Thoughts: Drafted Lawrence 11.11 (131) in a 1QB 12-team best ball on 8/21.

14 Jalen Hurts, PHI 14 23.2 9.03 8.5

Mike's Thoughts: Rumors of the Eagles trading for Deshaun Watson puts some shade on the Hurts hype, but assuming Hurts is the starter, his running numbers make up a lot of fantasy points to vault him into the Top 10. Update 8/17: Hurts isn't looking great in camp, nor are the skill position players around him (Sanders - drops; Goedert - out of shape; Devonta Smith - injured), causing a drop outside the Top 12.

15 Matt Ryan, ATL 6 36.3 11.11 21.5

Mike's Thoughts: I am bullish on Calvin Ridley, but losing Julio Jones, I'm not very interested in rostering Matt Ryan. The projected pass volume thanks to a shoddy defense should help him maintain his usual season numbers.

  • Jalen Hurts Runs His Way To A Good Fantasy Performance

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts struggled as a quarterback all night against the Tampa Bay Bucs in Week 6, but looked like the best running back on the field on several occasions to make up for it. In total, Hurts completed 12 of his 26 passes for a mere 115 yards, throwing one touchdown and one interception. On the ground, he ran 10 times, gaining 44 yards and scoring two touchdowns. Hurts was looking like he was about to ruin the fantasy week of anyone who started him, but his two rushing touchdowns came in the final 18 minutes of the game and made everything OK (in fantasy...the Eagles probably still weren't thrilled.) Hurts has yet to show much of anything with his arm, but his rushing ability and the fact that he's clearly working as the primary running back in this offense makes him a weekly QB1 option.

  • Lane Johnson Ruled Out For Thursday Night

Philadelphia Eagles offensive tackle Lane Johnson (personal) missed practice all week and has been ruled out for Thursday night's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It will be the third straight missed game for Johnson, who is no lock to return for the rest of the season while dealing with an apparent serious personal matter. Philly's right side will continue to be a little vulnerable with Jack Driscoll being asked to pick up the slack. Second-year quarterback Jalen Hurts could face pressure often in Week 6 against a strong Tampa defensive line.

  • Jalen Hurts - Week 6 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts should have another solid game in Week 6. The Eagles will host the Tampa Bay Bucs on Thursday Night Football, and despite the tough matchup, there's reason to believe Hurts should be a worthwhile QB1 starter in fantasy lineups. With the Eagles defense not doing much this season, this game could turn into a shootout, and Hurts has thrown for multiple touchdowns in four of the five games so far this season, besides running in three of his own. Hurts should be at worst a low-end QB1 to start off the NFL's Week 6.

  • Lane Johnson Not A Lock To Return This Year

Philadelphia Eagles left tackle Lane Johnson isn't a lock to return this season while dealing with a personal matter, according to center Jason Kelce. Johnson has been out of action while tending to a personal matter the next two weeks, and there is no return in sight. It's surely a downgrade for Philadelphia's offensive line for however long Johnson remains out. Jack Driscoll has been starting on quarterback Jalen Hurts' blind side the last two weeks and is expected to remain there as long as Johnson remains away from the team.

  • Jalen Hurts In For Another QB1 Performance In Week 5

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts hasn't been the ideal NFL quarterback this season, but he's been more than what his fantasy managers could have expected. Despite leading the Eagles to a 1-3 record so far and showing that he has not done much in his development as a passer, Hurts is the overall QB3 in standard fantasy formats. He's taken advantage of getting almost all of the designed run calls on the Eagles offense combined with garbage time passing stats. He threw for 387 yards against the Chiefs in Week 4, but will have a tougher matchup against a strong Carolina Panthers secondary in Week 5. That just means he'll have to get more of his fantasy points on the ground instead of through the air. Hurts is a mid-range QB1 with upside, especially if the Eagles fall behind early and just have him chuck the ball downfield again.

  • Jalen Hurts Has A Good Fantasy Day In Week 4

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts had another good fantasy performance in a Week 4 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Hurts completed 32 of his 48 pass attempts for 387 yards and two touchdowns. He also led the team in rushing attempts and rushing yards, running the ball eight times for 47 yards. Hurts played well in this game, but the Eagles defense just had no chance to stop the Chiefs offense, as Patrick Mahomes threw for five touchdowns and made it look easy. A tough matchup against the Carolina Panthers defense in on deck for Hurts and the Eagles in Week 5.

  • Jalen Hurts Should Have Another QB1 Performance In Week 4

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is a low-end QB1 option for a Week 4 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. Hurts was by no means good on Monday Night Football against the Cowboys, but he ended up as a fantasy QB1 thanks to some garbage time production and his overall rushing ability. Hurts looks a lot like one of those young rushing quarterbacks who maintains significant fantasy value despite not impressing on the NFL field. The Chiefs have allowed the second-most fantasy points to quarterbacks so far, so it's a good matchup for Hurts and the Eagles offense.

  • Jalen Hurts Struggles Until Garbage Time In Week 3

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was having one of his worst games in his NFL career until he was able to pad his stats a bit in garbage time of a 41-21 Week 3 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Hurts ended up throwing 39 passes, completing 25 of them for 326 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. Heading into halftime though, he had thrown for just 102 scoreless yards and a pick. Hurts was the team's leading rusher by far, running the ball nine times for 35 yards. The Eagles running backs combined for just three rushes. It was a shockingly bad game plan by the Eagles offense, who will need to be a lot better in every aspect if they plan to make their Week 4 game against the Chiefs even somewhat competitive. Hurts has the look of a quarterback who is much better for his fantasy team than for his NFL team.

  • Isaac Seumalo Injured Late In Monday Night Loss

Philadelphia Eagles offensive guard Isaac Seumalo (foot) was injured in the fourth quarter of the Monday night loss to the Dallas Cowboys and was carted off the field by the medical staff. The Eagles also played most of the game without safety K'Von Wallace, suffered a shoulder injury in the first half. Nate Herbig replaced Seumalo at left guard after he left the game. Philadelphia's offensive line is falling apart early in the year, as they've already lost left tackle Jordan Mailata (knee) and right guard Brandon Brooks (pectoral) to injury. Dallas' defensive line controlled the line of scrimmage and were collapsing the pocket frequently, making it really tough on second-year quarterback Jalen Hurts.

  • Jordan Mailata Will Miss Week 3 Matchup Against Dallas

Philadelphia Eagles left tackle Jordan Mailata (knee) has been ruled out for the team's matchup Monday vs. the Cowboys. While it was reported earlier in the week that Mailata is dealing with a sprained MCL, the team waited until Saturday to make his status official, naming Andre Dillard the starter in his stead. Mailata has been the breakout star of the Eagles' offensive line and can be seen as a major loss as the team attempts to keep quarterback Jalen Hurts in a position to trade scoring drives with Dallas. Dillard made four starts with Philadelphia in 2019, but he logged just two offensive snaps over the first two weeks this year. The next chance that Mailata will have to return to action comes in Week 4 against Kansas City.

  • Jalen Hurts A Good Week 3 Starter

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is a solid choice in Week 3 starting lineups. In what should be a high-scoring game against the rival Dallas Cowboys, Hurts should be able to put up plenty of fantasy points. He's averaging just over 25 fantasy points per week through the first two weeks of this season, and while he hasn't been all that impressive in the passing game, he's developed a consistent floor and raised his ceiling significantly with his ground game. He's a mid-range QB1 for a big early-season rivalry matchup.

  • Jalen Hurts Saves His Fantasy Day With His Legs

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts didn't do much with his arm in Week 2, but saved his fantasy day with a decent rushing performance. Hurts completed just 12 passes on 23 attempts, for 190 scoreless yards. He was able to be a force on the ground though, running the ball 10 times for 82 yards and a touchdown. His score came on a one-yard plunge near the end of the fourth quarter of a 17-11 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Hurts will hope for better passing game results next week when the Eagles take on the Cowboys on Monday Night Football.

  • Jalen Hurts Faces A Tougher Challenge In Week 2

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was outstanding in Week 1 but faces a tougher challenge in Week 2 against the San Francisco 49ers. Hurts was able to torch an awful Atlanta Falcons secondary for 264 yards and three touchdowns in Week 1, adding 62 yards with his legs as well. While he may not see that kind of success against a stronger defense, he showed more than enough to cement himself in the QB1 ranks for Week 2. Even if the sophomore passer struggles a bit with his arm, his legs give him a high enough floor to make him worth starting in almost every format.

  • Jalen Hurts Throws Three Touchdowns In Week 1

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts played very well in a Week 1 win over the Atlanta Falcons. Hurts led the Eagles to an easy 32-6 win by completing 27 of his 35 pass attempts for 264 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions. He added 62 yards on the ground with seven carries. The sophomore quarterback's first score was on an 18-yard pass to rookie DeVonta Smith. The second came on a nine yard strike to Dallas Goedert, and the third was a 23-yard score to fellow sophomore and fellow Jalen, Jalen Reagor. Hurts should be a solid fantasy quarterback all season, even if some growing pains strike on the field.

  • Eagles, Jordan Mailata Agree To Four-Year Extension

The Philadelphia Eagles and left tackle Jordan Mailata signed a four-year, $64 million contract extension on Saturday that could be worth up to $80 million. The deal also includes $40.85 million guaranteed, according to a source. Mailata is now under contract with the team through the 2025 campaign. The 24-year-old seventh-rounder in 2018 outplayed an injured Andre Dillard in the preseason, so not only does he get a rich extension, but he will be the Eagles starting left tackle in Week 1 against the Atlanta Falcons. His job will be to protect mobile second-year quarterback Jalen Hurts. Hurts, who can make noise with his arm and his legs, has clear QB1 upside in the season opener against a Falcons defense that racked up only 29 sacks as a team (tied for 23rd in the league) last season.

  • Jalen Hurts A Solid Week 1 Fantasy Option

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has an outstanding option for Week 1 and should be in fantasy lineups as a QB1. Hurts and the Eagles take on the Atlanta Falcons, who allowed the most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks last season. With the Eagles expected to open up the passing game a bit more this season but Hurts still able to do damage with his legs, he could end up with some top-tier QB1 performances. There are expected to be growing pains though, and Hurts showed some flaws in his game last season that good defenses could be able to exploit. For the season, he's somewhere on the QB1/2 border, but he's a safe QB1 for the first week of the season thanks to the mouth watering matchup.

  • Jalen Hurts Officially Confirmed As Starter

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was officially confirmed as the team's starter by coach Nick Sirianni. The new Eagles coach said, "Jalen is our starter. He has done a great job." The Eagles tried to pretend that backup Joe Flacco had a chance to actually jump Hurts on the depth chart this preseason, but no one around the league really bought it. It was always going to be Hurts, but the official announcement at least puts to rest any remaining concerns. The sophomore signal caller will be under center in Week 1, and while he was average at best as a real life quarterback, his rushing ability puts him at a much higher tier in most fantasy formats.

  • Jalen Hurts Back In Practice On Sunday

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (illness) returned to practice on Sunday. Hurts had to go to the hospital right before the Eagles preseason game against the New England Patriots on Thursday. He was experiencing severe abdominal pain and was eventually diagnosed with a stomach infection. A few days of rest allowed him to feel well enough to make it back to practice ahead of Friday's final preseason action, a game against the Jets. While starters don't generally play in that game, the fact that Hurts missed all of the second game may mean he gets a few snaps in the first half on Friday. As long as he's healthy, Hurts will be in the QB1 conversation each week because of his high floor thanks to his rushing ability.

  • Jalen Hurts Dealing With A Stomach Infection

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (stomach) was late scratched from Thursday's preseason game against the New England Patriots due to a stomach infection. He participated in pregame warmups but didn't feel too well heading into Thursday's contest. According to head coach Nick Sirianni, Jalen Hurts wasn't feeling well when he arrived at the stadium. The Eagles QB tried to go through pregame warmups but ended up exiting early. "He's fine now, and he's doing OK now." The 23-year-old tested negative for COVID-19 and later was diagnosed with a stomach infection. He will rest the next few days and look to rejoin the Eagles early next week. Fantasy managers can draft Hurts with confidence as a borderline QB1 after averaging 79.3 rushing yards on 12.7 attempts per game in 2020.

  • Jalen Hurts Set To Start Preseason Opener

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will start the team's preseason opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday. Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni spoke to the media on Tuesday to make the announcement. Sirianni didn't say how many drives Hurts would play in the game, but he said that Joe Flacco would come in after him and that Nick Mullens would finish the game. Hurts has received some mixed reviews from training camp so far. In scrimmages, he's made some bad throws, but he's also had some big runs. His running ability makes him an extremely enticing fantasy target, but he comes with some clear risk as he could find himself benched if he struggles with his throwing.

  • Jalen Hurts Getting Mixed Results In Training Camp

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is seeing mixed results in training camp so far. Reporting on Tuesday's practice, Eagles beat writer Tim McManus wrote that Hurts was, "erratic during individual drills but settled in for team drills." Hurts seems to be forming good chemistry with tight end Zach Ertz, with Tuesday making it two days in a row where beat writers have pointed out that Hurts and Ertz connected for a big play. The Eagles haven't "officially" named a starting quarterback yet, but it's not going to be Joe Flacco or Nick Mullens. Hurts has upside, but also has one of the wider ranges of possible outcomes this season. Any fantasy managers drafting him should try to snag a more solid if perhaps unexciting guy in the later rounds to serve as a backup plan.
