Fantasy Advice

Hurts was a big value last year with an ADP of QB5, finishing QB2 in PPG. There is the threat of a Super Bowl hangover for the Eagles, but this team looks solidly built for long-term success. Fourth season, 25 years old, significant year-to-year improvement. There isn't a true stud RB on this team - and no one would be surprised if the top two get injured in short order - so Hurts is primed to continue producing as a top tier QB.

  • Jalen Hurts A Must-Start Against Washington

    Headshot for Jalen Hurts

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will take on the division-rival Washington Commanders in Week 4 on Sunday. The 25-year-old has put together two top-10 performances over the past two weeks and now faces a Washington defense that has done well against opposing quarterbacks to open the season. With that said, the only real offense they have played is Buffalo, who scored 37 points] against them last week. Allen averaged 15.3 yards per carry against the Commanders last week and scored, so Hurts is set up for a top-tier fantasy performance in Week 4. You are playing the Eagles quarterback every week if you have him, but after a slow start, this could be the week he gets back on track as an elite option.

  • Jalen Hurts Plays Through Flu-Like Symptoms

    Headshot for Jalen Hurts

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (illness) confirmed that he played the Monday night win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers through flu-like symptoms. "Just us executing," Hurts said, describing what it took to gut it out. "It's not the first time I've dealt with this or had to play with something like this. And it always happens on Monday night for whatever reason." Despite Hurts and several other members of the team being under the weather, the Eagles offense put up 472 yards, led by running back D'Andre Swift (130 rushing yards) and receiver A.J. Brown (nine catches for 131 yards). Hurts had an up-and-down performance, throwing and rushing for a touchdown while also throwing a couple of interceptions.

  • Jalen Hurts Tallies Two Touchdowns In Week 3

    Headshot for Jalen Hurts

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts completed 23 of 37 passes for 277 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions while adding 10 carries for 28 yards and an additional score during the team's 25-11 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Philadelphia was in control for most of the contest, with Hurts looking much more poised in the pocket. Once the rain started to come down, the passing game was compromised a bit for both offenses. The 25-year-old threw a bad pick on a miscommunication throw and had a deep pass intercepted on the goal line. It was not the best performance from Hurts, but the Tampa Bay defense kept the pressure on all night. The Eagles quarterback will be a must-start again next week against the division rival Washington Commanders.

  • Jalen Hurts A Top Option In Prime-Time Matchup

    Headshot for Jalen Hurts

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will travel to Tampa Bay to take on the Buccaneers on Monday night. After getting back on track and scoring three total touchdowns in Week 2 against Minnesota, the 25-year-old will look to continue to roll against a solid Tampa Bay defense. The Buccaneers were able to shut down Justin Fields and the Chicago passing attack last week but will struggle to put as much pressure on Hurts. While the Eagles offense has not looked as in sync as they were during their Super Bowl run, it started to click in the second half of last week's Thursday night matchup and should continue to adjust. With a high-scoring floor due to his rushing ability, the Eagles starting quarterback should be considered a top-tier option in Week 3.

  • Jalen Hurts Tallies Three Touchdowns In Win Over Minnesota

    Headshot for Jalen Hurts

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts completed 18-of-23 passes for 193 yards, one touchdown, and one interception while adding 12 carries for 35 yards and two scores during the team's 34-28 win over the Minnesota Vikings. The offense started slow again in this contest but opened up the floodgates in the second half. It was a bounce-back performance for the 25-year-old after scoring just one touchdown against the New England Patriots last week. The former Oklahoma Sooner put up impressive numbers, considering how much yardage was gained on the ground. Philadelphia now has a mini-bye week, getting some much-needed rest for their next prime-time game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday, September 25th. It is another plus matchup for Hurts, who should be considered a top-tier option once again in Week 3.

  • Jalen Hurts - Week 2 Outlook for Fantasy Football

    Headshot for Jalen Hurts

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will face the Minnesota Vikings in the team's home opener on Thursday night. The 25-year-old had an underwhelming fantasy performance in Week 1 against a formidable New England defense. However, this is a get-right matchup versus Minnesota for any quarterback. The Vikings had a tough time stopping Baker Mayfield, Mike Evans, and company last week and now have to defend A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Dallas Goedert. After failing to score multiple offensive touchdowns, the Eagles offense is in a good spot to bounce back and have plenty of fantasy-relevant players to kick off Week 2. Expect Hurts to take a step forward for fantasy managers compared to last week, as he should be considered a top-tier fantasy option.

  • Jalen Hurts Tosses One TD In Win Over Patriots

    Headshot for Jalen Hurts

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts completed 22-of-33 passes for 170 yards and a touchdown while adding nine carries for 37 yards during the team's 25-20 victory over the New England Patriots. The 25-year-old was under constant duress, being sacked three times, hit five, and losing a fumble deep in the fourth quarter that could have cost Philadelphia the victory. It was not the best fantasy performance for those who took him early in drafts, but we can chalk this one up to a rough night at the office against a great defense and hall-of-fame coach. The former Oklahoma Sooner will have a quick turnaround this upcoming week but gets a juicy matchup against the Minnesota Vikings in the team's home opener. Hurts should be considered a top-tier fantasy option in Week 2.

  • Jalen Hurts A Top Tier Option In Week 1

    Headshot for Jalen Hurts

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will open the regular season on the road against the New England Patriots this Sunday. The 25-year-old finished as the QB1 in fantasy points scored per game last season and has a solid matchup in Week 1 of 2023. New England was middle of the pack regarding points allowed to opposing quarterbacks in 2022 but struggled to stop rushing quarterbacks. The team allowed nearly five yards per carry to quarterbacks. Hurts finished as a top-five fantasy option in 10 of his 15 games played last year and should be considered a top-three option this week. No weapons are missing for Philadelphia's matchup Sunday, and Hurts now has a running back who excels as a pass catcher in D'Andre Swift. Play the Eagles starting quarterback with complete confidence as a high-end QB1 to open the fantasy season.

  • Jalen Hurts Still Getting Better?

    Headshot for Jalen Hurts

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, fresh off a big, new contract, has been more consistent than ever over the first week-plus of training camp, according to The Athletic's Bo Wulf. Throws that would have seemed noteworthy last summer now seem commonplace, and Hurts remains the biggest reason for the team's optimism coming off a Super Bowl loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. The 25-year-old All-Pro signal-caller has reportedly also improved his chemistry with close friend and No. 1 receiver A.J. Brown, so the sky remains the limit for Hurts in 2023. After an MVP-caliber season last year and leading the Eagles to a Super Bowl appearance, Hurts is a no-doubt, top-three QB1 in fantasy.

  • Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown Building Chemistry

    Headshot for A.J. Brown

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts and wide receiver A.J. Brown had a close relationship dating back to their teenage years going already, which contributed to the star receiver hitting the ground running in his first year with the team in 2022 (88 catches, 1,496 yards, 11 TDs). Hurts said the two have been working on building "new chemistry" this summer. "The goal for us is to continue to grow, continue to find that new chemistry. I think for us, you talk about any time you have success, you try to leave that as the foundation, as the new standard. So we just want to continue to grow," Hurts said. The 24-year-old has a sense of urgency after an MVP-caliber season in 2022, and he's even more comfortable going into his third season of the same offensive scheme. Hurts and Brown are both high-end options at their respective positions in fantasy.

Like Doug Pederson, Nick Sirianni led the Eagles to a Super Bowl in his sophomore HC effort. • Dallas Goedert Praises Jalen Hurts

    Headshot for Dallas Goedert

Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert said on the Pardon My Take podcast that he doesn't think quarterback Jalen Hurts gets enough credit for how good he really is. "I think Jalen has to be at the top," Goedert said. "If you don't, you're just trying to use his name. You can say he's got good talent around him. No, he's a dog. He's really good. I think he should be top three, top two. It's hard to take anything away from Patrick Mahomes." After a breakout campaign in 2022 in which he led the Eagles to a Super Bowl appearance, the Eagles gave Hurts a new $255 million contract. With elite dual-threat abilities under center and plenty of weapons around him in Philly, there's no reason why Hurts shouldn't be considered a top-three signal-caller in real life and in upcoming fantasy drafts.
