AJ Dillon A Desperation Flex Against Saints

Green Bay Packers running back AJ Dillon will take on the New Orleans Saints in Week 3. After getting the start last week due to the absence of Aaron Jones (hamstring), the 25-year-old draws a tough matchup against the Saints. New Orleans has held opposing running backs in check through two weeks, allowing the 10th-fewest fantasy points per game to the position, and they have yet to allow a rushing touchdown. Dillon looked awful last week in replacement of Jones, averaging only 3.6 yards per carry and being taken off the field often for backups Patrick Taylor and Emanuel Wilson. Jones has a chance to return this week, but even if he doesn't, it will be tough to trust the Packers' No. 2 back as even a flex option in such a poor matchup. Dillon is nothing more than a desperate flex for those in need of running back help.

AJ Dillon Posts Pedestrian Line As Starter

Green Bay Packers running back AJ Dillon took 15 carries for 55 yards and added one reception for an additional eight yards during the team's 25-24 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. Drawing the start with Aaron Jones (hamstring) ruled out before kickoff, the 25-year-old averaged just 3.7 yards per carry. It was a golden opportunity for the fourth-year back, but he did little with it and disappointed the fantasy managers who started him hoping for a top-20 fantasy performance. He did handle 15 of the 19 carries given to the running back corps, but the volume did not matter at the end of the day. If Dillon can't be trusted as a flex option when given the majority of carries, he will be tough to trust moving forward once Jones returns. Next week's matchup against New Orleans is one to avoid, making Dillon an easy fade in Week 3.

AJ Dillon - Week 2 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Green Bay Packers running back AJ Dillon will go on the road to take on the Atlanta Falcons this Sunday. The 25-year-old tallied 15 touches last weekend but gained a total of just 36 yards and averaged 1.5 yards per carry. It was a far cry from what Dillon had done to end the year for fantasy managers, but he may now be in the leading role in Week 2. Aaron Jones (hamstring) has barely practiced this past week and is questionable to suit up for Sunday's game. If Jones does sit out, Dillon is in for a significant workload and potential target increase. Quarterback Jordan Love could be without top target Christian Watson (hamstring) again this week, so Dillon could see a handful of check-down targets to help pad his stats. Jones could play but be limited, so consider Dillon a worthy flex option against Atlanta in Week 2.

AJ Dillon A Sneaky Flex Play In Season Opener

Green Bay Packers running back AJ Dillon will open the regular season on the road against the Chicago Bears this Sunday. The 25-year-old was not drafted high by most fantasy managers this past offseason but opens the season with an incredibly favorable matchup against Chicago. The Bears defense gave up the second-most rushing touchdowns and fantasy points per game to the position last season. While the defense was improved this past offseason, more is needed to make managers shy away from the matchup. Starting running back Aaron Jones could see more usage as a receiver Sunday with Christian Watson (hamstring) ruled out and Romeo Doubs (hamstring) questionable to play. This should free up some carries for Dillon to absorb. The fourth-year back finished 2022 on a high note and was the RB9 overall in points per game from Week 12 on. Dillon should be considered a flex option in Week 1.

AJ Dillon Could Overtake Aaron Jones In The Backfield

ESPN's Dan Graziano says we shouldn't be surprised if Green Bay Packers running back AJ Dillon overtakes Aaron Jones in the backfield. The Packers love using Jones and Dillon in tandem. Green Bay was expecting a bigger passing-game addition from Dillon last year, but it didn't come to fruition. Jones is now 28, though, an age where RBs start to decline. Dillon is 25 and fits better long-term with the team's young offensive core that they are building around quarterback Jordan Love. Graziano thinks Dillon could start to see a bigger share of the workload this year over Jones, who has one non-guaranteed year left on his contract and carries an untenable $17.17 million salary cap charge in 2024. Jones is being drafted as a high-end RB2, while could pay off as a nice value pick as more of an RB3/flex.

AJ Dillon Handles Starting Duties In Preseason Finale

Green Bay Packers running back AJ Dillon took six carries for 24 yards during the team's 19-15 preseason victory over the Seattle Seahawks. The 25-year-old handled starting duties with veteran Aaron Jones given the night off and had a modest outing. After the starters were rested early in the second quarter, the remainder of carries were spread around the backups as Green Bay assessed who would be the team's RB3 at the start of the regular season. Dillon saw 13 carries and gained 63 yards through three preseason games, averaging 4.8 yards per carry. In a contract year, the fourth-year back will look to make his presence felt as he looks for a new contract with Green Bay, especially with Jones inching closer to 30 years of age. He should be considered a solid flex option heading into fantasy drafts.

AJ Dillon Handles Six Carries In Preseason Loss

Green Bay Packers running back AJ Dillon took six carries for 25 yards during the team's 21-17 preseason loss to the New England Patriots. The 25-year-old was given more reps this week compared to last week's preseason game against the Bengals and had a solid outing finishing with 4.2 yards per carry on the night. It seems clear that Aaron Jones will be the starter and see most of the reps out of the backfield, much like last season, but Dillon will have a shot to receiver 200 or so carries in an offense that could look to rely on the run game more in 2023. The third-year back carries extra value as the clear touch leader if anything happens to Jones, but he should be a weekly flex option regardless of the veteran's health. It is unclear if we will see any of the Packers starters next week against Seattle after the first-team offense has seen reps the past two weeks, so this may have been the last preseason action from Dillon in 2023.

Offseason In Review: Green Bay Packers

In an offseason that eerily resembled the seminal 2008 period, the Packers made two key decisions at quarterback. A third Hall of Fame-bound passer’s Green Bay career has now wrapped, and like the second, Aaron Rodgers relocated to the Big Apple. As they did after trading Brett Favre to the Jets 15 years ago, the […]
