Chase Claypool Could Have Plenty Of Opportunity In 2023
The Chicago Bears would love to have something in wide receiver Chase Claypool, whom they acquired at midseason in 2022 from the Pittsburgh Steelers. His first season in Chicago was a disappointment and he missed time with injuries, but the Bears aren't giving up on him just yet. "I don't think we have that figured out just yet, but I see him getting a lot of opportunities," offensive coordinator Luke Getsy said about Claypool's role. "He's someone that we need to play at a really high level, and he's capable of that. He's done that in the past. We've got to get the most out of him, and he wants that, too." The 24-year-old had just 14 catches for 140 yards in seven games with the Bears, but with better health and with more time to develop chemistry with quarterback Justin Fields, Claypool could easily bounce back in 2023 with a big role.

Chase Claypool Catches Two Passes In Week 18
Chicago Bears wide receiver Chase Claypool caught two of his six targets for 29 yards in a 29-13 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 18. Claypool's quiet afternoon against the Vikings wraps up a second-straight disappointing season for him after he exploded onto the scene with 11 total touchdowns in 2020 as a rookie. The Bears traded a second-round pick to the Pittsburgh Steelers to acquire Claypool at the trade deadline and he wound up catching just 14 passes for 140 yards and no touchdowns in his seven games with Chicago. Overall, Claypool wraps up his third NFL season with 46 catches for 451 yards and one touchdown in 15 total games split between Pittsburgh and Chicago. Claypool will be a boom/bust WR4 heading into 2023 drafts.

Chase Claypool Gets Strong Matchup To Close Season
Chicago Bears wide receiver Chase Claypool will see a favorable matchup against the Vikings in Week 18. Claypool's production has nose-dived this season and heads in the season finale with only 44 receptions for 422 yards and only one touchdown. The midseason trade by the Bears to acquire Claypool has been, to this point, a disaster marred by injury and ineffectiveness. Through six games with the Bears the talented 24-year-old has mustered only 12 receptions for 111 yards. He will face, however, a Vikings defense that has allowed the second most fantasy points to the wide receiver position. Minnesota has allowed a whopping 25 receivers this season to post more than 10-plus fantasy points against them but Claypool will have to catch passes from backup quarterback Nathan Peterman. Claypool is not fantasy viable in Week 18.

Chase Claypool, Dante Pettis Active On Sunday
Chicago Bears wide receivers Chase Claypool (knee) and Dante Pettis (ankle) are both officially active on New Year's Day to face the Detroit Lions in Week 17. Claypool will be on the field for the first time since Week 13, and it remains to be seen if he'll see his normal workload on offense. During the team's bye in Week 13, the Bears coaching staff admitted that Claypool was still learning the offense after a midseason trade from the Pittsburgh Steelers. In his five games with the team, he has only 12 receptions on 22 targets for 111 yards and no touchdowns. The Bears want Claypool to become a big part of the passing attack, but that may not happen until 2023. Trusting any Chicago receivers with a fantasy championship on the line is a fool's errand, even against a suspect Lions defense.

Chase Claypool Likely To Play In Week 17
Chicago Bears wide receiver Chase Claypool (knee) is expected to suit up in Sunday's NFC North showdown with the Lions. He hasn't played since Week 13. However, considering how unproductive Claypool has been in his five games with the Bears, amassing 12 catches for 111 yards, he's not recommended for any fantasy lineup, even with the favorable matchup on tap.

Chase Claypool Questionable To Face Lions
Chicago Bears wide receiver Chase Claypool (knee) is officially questionable to face the Detroit Lions in Week 17. Claypool hasn't played since Week 13 with the injury, so he could be in line to miss another game on Sunday. Even if Claypool does suit up against the putrid Lions' defense, he remains off the fantasy radar in traditional leagues. Since being traded to Chicago, he has totaled just 111 yards and zero touchdowns in five games. In ultra-deep leagues, he could be an interesting dart throw, but he has virtually no floor tied to a league-bottom passing attack.

Chase Claypool Gets In Limited Practice Session
Chicago Bears wide receiver Chase Claypool (knee) is back on the field and was able to get through a limited practice session on Thursday. This is good news after Claypool has missed each of the last two games due to a knee issue. The 24-year-old has been dealing with a lingering knee injury. However, he was able to practice on Thursday, which means he's heading in the right direction. The Bears don't have many reliable options at wideout, so Claypool should see significant involvement. Despite that, he's not anything more than a deep league flex option for Week 17 against the Detroit Lions.

Chase Claypool, Equanimeous St. Brown Out Wednesday
Chicago Bears wide receivers Chase Claypool (knee) and Equanimeous St. Brown (concussion) both missed practice on Wednesday. Claypool hasn't played since Week 13 (the team had a bye in Week 14), but he doesn't look to be closer to returning in Week 17 against the Detroit Lions. The 24-year-old has been off the fantasy radar in most leagues in his five games with Chicago, as he has just 12 catches on 22 targets for 111 yards and no touchdowns. St. Brown picked up a concussion in Week 15 and miss last week's loss to the Buffalo Bills. He's no lock to clear the concussion protocol before this Sunday. With Dante Pettis (ankle) also nursing an injury, the Bears receiving corps could be down to Byron Pringle, rookie Velus Jones Jr. and N'Keal Harry against the Lions.

Chase Claypool Inactive For Week 16
Chicago Bears wide receiver Chase Claypool (knee) is inactive for Saturday's game against the Buffalo Bills. He will miss his second consecutive game due to a knee issue. The 24-year-old has caught 12 passes for 111 yards since being acquired by the Bears mid-season. Claypool's next chance to return will be in Week 17 against the Detroit Lions. Byron Pringle, Dante Pettis, N'Keal Harry, and Velus Jones will be quarterback Justin Fields' top targets against the Bills.
