  • D'Andre Swift Officially Ruled Out

Detroit Lions rookie running back D'Andre Swift (concussion) has officially been ruled out for Thursday's Thanksgiving game against the Texans. It'll be the rookie's second straight missed game and will leave Detroit's backfield to veteran Adrian Peterson and Kerryon Johnson. Peterson started last week against the Panthers and then split touches with Johnson. They weren't effective at all in the shutout loss, though, with Detroit rushing for 40 yards total in the game. Houston's defense has allowed the second-most fantasy points per game to running backs, so the duo should be more effective, but they are both low-ceiling RB4/flex plays in deeper leagues while they share the workload minus Swift.

  • D'Andre Swift Unlikely To Play Thursday

Detroit Lions rookie running back D'Andre Swift (concussion), who was listed as questionable for the Thanksgiving game on Thursday against the Texans, is unlikely to play, according to sources. Swift is set to miss his second straight game with the head injury. Fantasy managers need to remove Swift from their starting lineups for the early Thursday game. Veteran Adrian Peterson started in the backfield last week with Swift out and then split carries with Kerryon Johnson. Peterson is probably the better back of the two for fantasy purposes against, and the Texans Defense has allowed the second-most fantasy points per game to opposing running backs. Even then, Peterson and Johnson should be considered RB4/flex options with a low ceiling in deeper leagues.

  • D'Andre Swift Questionable For Thanksgiving Game

Detroit Lions rookie running back D'Andre Swift (concussion) is listed as questionable for Thursday's Thanksgiving game against the Texans. Swift didn't practice on Monday but was limited on both Tuesday and Wednesday, giving himself a chance to return to action this week after he sat out in Week 11. Consider the 21-year-old a game-time decision for now, but he should operate as the team's lead back if he's active, which would put him in the RB2 conversation against a Texans Defense that has allowed 12 total rushing touchdowns and the second-most fantasy points per game to opposing rushers. If Swift misses another game, Adrian Peterson and Kerryon Johnson would split backfield work and would be unappetizing RB3/flex options in deeper leagues.

  • D'Andre Swift Still In Concussion Protocol

Detroit Lions rookie running back D'Andre Swift is still in the concussion protocol as the team prepares to play early Thursday morning against the Texans on Thanksgiving. His availability could be a huge blow to a Lions team that is seeing its playoff hopes slip away. Swift has been fantastic over the past few weeks, displaying the type of versatile threat in the passing and running game that earned him praise in training camp. But as of now, the rookie is trending towards not playing, and it would be a shame with a favorable matchup in Week 12. The Texans have allowed the second-most fantasy points to opposing backs this season. Veteran Adrian Peterson will step up once again if Swift misses the game, but Peterson cannot be trusted to post RB2-type numbers despite the favorable tilt. Kerryon Johnson would also continue to mix in.

  • D'Andre Swift Ruled Out For Sunday's Contest

Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift (concussion) will miss Sunday's game versus Carolina due to not having cleared concussion protocol in time to take the field. Swift has emerged as Detroit's most captivating running back talent from a fantasy perspective over the last two weeks with his absence re-opening the door for Adrian Peterson and Kerryon Johnson to have extended roles. To make things doubly tricky for Swift, the Lions' next contest comes Thursday against the Texans, giving him little time to pass protocol after Sunday if he's to not miss a second game. With that in mind, fantasy managers could nab Peterson as an upside RB2/3 on a multi-week streamer claim. Swift figures to take over lead back duties upon his return, whenever that comes.

  • D'Andre Swift Could Miss Week 11 With Concussion

Detroit Lions rookie running back D'Andre Swift (concussion) didn't practice on Thursday because of a brain injury, putting his status for Week 11 against the Panthers in question. Swift made his first career start in Week 10 in the win over Washington, carrying the ball 16 times for 81 yards and adding 68 receiving yards. If Swift were to miss this Sunday's game, veteran Adrian Peterson and Kerryon Johnson would split the backfield work against Carolina. Swift is third on the team with 31 catches, leads all Lions backs with 4.7 yards per carry and has a team-high six touchdowns (four rushing), so losing him this weekend would be a big blow to Detroit's offense. If you roster Swift, you should be making other plans right now. Peterson and Johnson will be on the RB2/3 borderline if Swift is inactive.

  • D'Andre Swift Has Intriguing Week 11 Matchup

Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift will go up against a Panthers Defense that is allowing the fourth most fantasy points to opposing running backs this season. The rookie running back has racked up 246 all-purpose yards over his last two games and has taken over the starting job in the backfield over veteran Adrian Peterson. Now Swift will face a Panthers defense that has allowed 10 rushing touchdowns and six different players have posted 100+ total yards against them. The Lions are in limbo on offense as quarterback Matthew Stafford currently is dealing with torn ligaments in his thumb. If Stafford sits, expect Swift to see even more touches. The rookie has a chance at posting RB2 numbers in Week 11.

  • D'Andre Swift Racks Up 149 Total Yards, One Touchdown

Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift carried the ball 16 times for 81 yards and added five receptions for 68 yards with one score in the Lions 30-27 win over Washington in Week 10. The rookie has finally arrived after garnering plenty of fantasy buzz in the preseason. Swift made plays all over the field and now has supplanted veteran Adrian Peterson as the lead runner in the Lions backfield. The arrow is pointing up for Swift heading into Week 11 against a beatable Panthers run defense.

  • D'Andre Swift Should Lead Lions In Week 10 Carries

Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift continues to ascend to the top of the depth chart in the Lions backfield heading into Week 10. The rookie running back led all Lions with 13 carries last week and posted 97 total yards as Swift continues to show what made the Lions organization so excited about his potential in training camp. He should continue to see the bulk of the touches moving forward but will have a tough matchup this week against a Washington defense that is allowing the 10th fewest fantasy points to opposing backs. Washington has allowed only one 100-yard runner all season and have surrendered only two rushing touchdowns since Week 5. Swift will have, no higher, than RB3/FLEX value in Week 10.

  • D'Andre Swift Leads Lions With 64 Rushing Yards

Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift carried the ball 13 times for 64 yards and added 33 receiving yards in the Lions 34-20 loss to the Vikings in Week 9. Swift led the team in targets and provided more in the passing game than veteran Adrian Peterson. It is becoming more clear by the week that the rookie running back will continue to siphon touches from Peterson. Swift will take on RB3 status next week when the Lions host Washington in Week 10.

  • Tough To Trust D'Andre Swift

Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift will try and improve upon the one rushing yard he posted in Week 8 when the team takes on the Vikings this Sunday. Swift posted 116 rushing yards in Week 6 but has posted only 28 rushing yards on 15 carries the last two weeks. The rookie will face a Vikings Defense that is allowing the 17th fewest fantasy points to opposing backs this season. Swift will also continue to share the backfield carries with veteran Adrian Peterson. Swift is simply too risky to trust in standard fantasy formats in Week 9.

  • D'Andre Swift Posts 22 Receiving Yards

Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift caught three passes for 22 yards in the Lions 41-21 loss to the Colts. In a game where the Lions posted only 29 team rushing yards, Swift was neutralized from having any impact. Swift does possess an advantage over veteran Adrian Peterson with the rookie's ability in the passing game but this was a truly subpar effort. Swift and the Lions running attack will try and get back on track in Week 9 against the Vikings.

  • D'Andre Swift In Line For More Touches

Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift is slowly gaining more traction in the Lions backfield heading into the team's Week 8 matchup against the Colts. Swift has four touchdowns over his last three games and has 11 receptions and 27 carries during that span. He is not the official bell-cow in the offense with veteran Adrian Peterson in the mix but both players with have a tough matchup in Week 8. The Colts are currently allowing the fifth fewest fantasy points to opposing backs and have not allowed more than 72 rushing yards to an individual runner all season. Swift will have fringe FLEX value in deeper leagues and will need a touchdown to produce a solid fantasy line in standard formats in Week 8.

  • D'Andre Swift Punches In Touchdown In Week 7

Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift posted only 48 all-purpose yards but scored a touchdown in the Lions 23-22 comeback win over the Falcons in Week 7. Swift carried the ball only nine times for 27 yards but punched in a three-yard touchdown in the first half. The rookie also added 21 receiving yards on four receptions one week after a monster fantasy performance. Veteran running back Adrian Peterson out-carried Swift 11-to-9 but the rookie continues to make inroads at more chances in games moving forward. Swift will have a tough test next week against the Colts in Week 8.

  • D'Andre Swift Could See Expanded Role

Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift may have earned himself an expanded role in the offense after a strong performance in Week 6. The appropriately-named Swift broke out in a big way against the Jaguars, totaling 116 rushing yards on 14 carries with two touchdowns scored. Veteran Adrian Peterson is the starter, though it seems like a matter of time before Swift grabs the bull by the horns and becomes the starter. The rookie should be in all lineups, as he's in another smash spot against a Falcons Defense surrendering the ninth-most fantasy points to opposing running backs.

  • Can D'Andre Swift Stay Hot Against Atlanta?

Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift will try and build off an excellent performance in Week 6 against the Falcons this week. The rookie posted 116 rushing yards with two touchdowns last week and now will face a Falcons Defense that is allowing the ninth most fantasy points to opposing running backs. The Lions still claim that veteran running back Adrian Peterson is still the starter but Swift may be on the doorstep of taking over the job. The Falcons can be burned in the passing game with running backs, perhaps making Swift a better fantasy option than Peterson. The rookie will carry RB3/FLEX value in Week 7.

  • D'Andre Swift Breaks Out Against Jaguars

Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift enjoyed his best game as a pro, carrying the ball 14 times for 116 yards and two touchdowns in the Lions 34-16 romp over the Jaguars in Week 6. This is the type of performance that had fantasy teams so excited about Swift heading into the season as the rookie gashed the Jaguars in the second half. Veteran running back Adrian Peterson also punched in a touchdown but Swift even took over goal-line duties by the second half. This development is excellent news for Swift in fantasy moving forward and could mean less touches for Peterson heading into Week 7.

  • Can D'Andre Swift Take The Next Step?

Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift will face a Jaguars Defense in Week 6 that is allowing the eighth most fantasy points to opposing runners this season. The rookie endured a rough start to his season, dropping a game-winning touchdown in Week 1. Swift also has been unable to supplant veteran runner Adrian Peterson for lead running back duties and has only 12 carries from the backfield this season. Swift has been able to help out in the passing game and the hope is that he should continue to see more looks as the season progresses. Until fantasy teams see a breakout performance, Swift needs to ride the bench in Week 6.

  • D'Andre Swift Catches Touchdown In Week 4

Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift post 52 all-purpose yards with one touchdown in the Lions 35-29 loss to the Saints in Week 4. Swift caught four passes in the game and looked more comfortable in the offense. He still is being out-carried by teammate Adrian Peterson 2:1 on a weekly basis but the rookie is slowly proving himself. Swift will remain a bench stash on fantasy teams for now but it might not be long before he gets more touches in the offense.

  • D'Andre Swift Not Fantasy Viable For Week 4

Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift will go up against a Saints Defense that is allowing the 13th fewest fantasy points to opposing runners. The rookie's first few games this season have been games to forget, especially after dropping a game-winning touchdown in Week 1. With the news that veteran Adrian Peterson will have the starting job locked up for the foreseeable future, Swift's fantasy value has really plummeted since training camp. Swift will still see snaps and could make some plays in the passing game but should remain on the fantasy bench until more opportunity opens up.

  • D'Andre Swift Catches One Pass In Win

Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift caught one pass for 19 yards in the Lions 26-23 win over the Cardinals in Week 3. Swift's usage has nose-dived with the emergence of veteran back Adrian Peterson and the rookie did not see a carry from the backfield. Swift dropped a game-winning touchdown in Week 1 and has gone backwards since. He possesses a world of talent but Swift simply isn't playing enough to warrant a fantasy start moving forward.

  • D'Andre Swift Could Surprise Against Cardinals

Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift will go up against a Cardinals Defense that has allowed the fourth-most fantasy points to opposing backs through two weeks. It has been a less-than-ideal start to the rookie's career, missing most of training camp and then dropping a game-winning touchdown against the Bears in Week 1. But Swift posted five catches for 60 yards last week and slowly is getting more snaps. Enter the Lions matchup against the Cardinals, a team that allowed 115 receiving yards and two touchdowns to the 49ers running backs in Week 1. This could be an opportunity for Swift to flash his potential, making him an intriguing, albeit risky, DFS selection in Week 3.

  • D'Andre Swift Gets Involved In The Passing Game

Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift mustered only 12 rushing yards but caught a team-high five passes for 60 yards in the Lions loss to the Packers in Week 2. One week after dropping a game-winning touchdown against the Bears, the rookie secured all five of his targets. The Lions Defense was no match for the Packers offense but Swift was able to make some plays in the passing game. The running back carries were split 8-7 with Kerryon Johnson and Adrian Peterson but Swift showed off his versatility. The rookie, however, is not ready for fantasy prime time just yet heading into Week 3 and is a bench stash until he gets more opportunities.

  • D'Andre Swift Hopes To Put Debut Behind Him

Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift will try and put last week behind him when the team takes on the Packers in Week 2. It was an NFL debut to forget, posting only 23 all-purpose yards and dropping the game-winning touchdown with :06 left to play against the Bears. The drop cost the Lions the game and now must face a Packers team that just put 43 points up against the Vikings. Green Bay did a solid job of bottling up star running back Dalvin Cook in Week 1 and allowed the 11th fewest fantasy points to opposing runners in 2019. Swift has plenty of talent but now must fight for touches with veteran runner Adrian Peterson. The rookie deserves to be rostered in most formats but should be on the bench in Week 2 until his playing time solidifies.

  • D'Andre Swift Drops Game-Winning Touchdown

Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift tallied only eight rushing yards, 15 receiving yards but had one touchdown in his NFL debut against the Bears in Week 1. Veteran Adrian Peterson was the lead back in this game and Swift did little with his scarce opportunities despite the goal-line score. His big chance came in the final seconds but he dropped a would-be game-winning touchdown pass from quarterback Matthew Stafford. Swift has plenty of talent but may need to ride the bench in Week 2 as a touchdown-dependent option who is fighting for touches with the resurgent Peterson.

  • Kenny Golladay, Danny Amendola, D'Andre Swift Limited

Detroit Lions wide receivers Kenny Golladay (hamstring) and Danny Amendola (hamstring) and rookie running back D'Andre Swift (hip) were all limited in practice on Wednesday. All three players should be good to go, barring any setbacks, for Week 1 against the Bears. Golladay is the clear No. 1 in Detroit and finished as a top-10 wideout in 2019. Start him with confidence as a WR1 despite the tough matchup with Detroit. Amendola might have a decent game here and there, but the targets probably just won't be there to make him anything more than a WR4/flex in deep PPR leagues on a weekly basis. Swift's stock is down a bit heading into his NFL debut because of the injury and the signing of Adrian Peterson. He has RB2 upside as the most likely leader of backfield touches in 2020, but RotoBaller has him as more of an RB3 in Week 1 against a stingy Bears Defense.

  • D'Andre Swift A Risky Play In Week 1

Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift (leg) continues to practice on a limited basis heading into the team's Week 1 matchup against the Bears. Swift has missed the majority of training camp with an injury that has been shrouded in mystery. The Lions also recently signed veteran runner Adrian Peterson, further clouding Swift's availability heading into the season. Odds are that Swift will suit up but will go up against a Bears Defense that the seventh fewest fantasy points to opposing runners last year. It may be wise to sit all of the Lions running backs in Week 1 and evaluate who gets the "lion's share" (pun!) of the touches moving forward.

  • Adrian Peterson Signs With Detroit

The Detroit Lions have signed free-agent running back Adrian Peterson to a one-year deal. Peterson was released by the Washington Football Team earlier in the week but the veteran wasn't out of work for very long. The veteran RB reportedly stated, "They're giving me an opportunity to play. I know coach (Darrell) Bevell from my days in Minnesota." Peterson's addition to Detroit makes this a tricky backfield to navigate for fantasy gamers going forward. The veteran will probably see most of his work on first and second downs with Kerryon Johnson mixing in and rookie D'Andre Swift doing most of his work on passing downs. Peterson's presence in Detroit could be a result of injuries as Swift has missed most of the past month with a lower-body injury while Johnson himself has struggled to stay on the field over his two-year NFL career. All three running backs are low-end flex options for fantasy gamers drafting this weekend as there's very little clarity as to how the workload will be split. This is a situation best avoided in fantasy.

  • D'Andre Swift Coming Along Slowly

Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift has returned to practice this week but is still being brought along slowly. The dynamic rookie runner has missed a large portion of camp due to an undisclosed injury and it is fair to begin to wonder whether he will be at 100% when the Lions take the field Week 1 against the Bears. The Lions can turn to teammate Kerryon Johnson to soak up carries early in the season but Swift represents the highest ceiling from a fantasy perspective. He is still worth a mid-round selection in most standard leagues but may be a dicey start for Week 1.
