  • D'Andre Swift A Top-Tier RB2 In Week 4

    Headshot for D'Andre Swift

Philadelphia Eagles running back D'Andre Swift will face the division-rival Washington Commanders in Week 4 on Sunday. The 24-year-old has put up 319 scrimmage yards over the past two weeks and scored one touchdown. On paper, Tampa Bay was a tough matchup for Swift last week, but he overcame it and averaged over eight yards per carry. This week's matchup against Washington is similar. However, they just allowed James Cook of Buffalo to over 100 total yards and average 6.5 yards per carry. The Eagles' starting back is becoming matchup-proof and should be treated as a top-tier RB2 in Week 4.

  • D'Andre Swift Gashes Buccaneers For 138 Total Yards

    Headshot for D'Andre Swift

Philadelphia Eagles running back D'Andre Swift took 16 carries for 130 yards and added one reception for eight yards during the team's 25-11 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The 24-year-old gained over 100 yards on the ground for the second week in a row. He averaged 8.1 yards per carry, led the team in total carries, and was clearly the best back on the field for the Eagles. Kenneth Gainwell ended the night with 14 carries but saw eight of those on the game's final drive, where Philadelphia was trying to drain the clock. Swift will always mix in with another back, his injury history dictates that he is kept fresh, but he is the clear top back for the Eagles moving forward and has top-12 upside every week. The Georgia alum will be a must-start against the Washington Commanders next week.

  • Landon Dickerson Is Questionable To Return With Knee Issue

    Headshot for D'Andre Swift

Philadelphia Eagles guard Landon Dickerson (knee) was forced to leave Monday night's game against Tampa Bay with a knee issue and is considered questionable to return. He's an important piece to the offensive line, as he's been ranked in the top half of all starting guards in the NFL according to PFF. His run blocking has been the best part of his game which has helped D'Andre Swift put together back-to-back 100-yard games. If he has to miss any time, it may effect the run game until he comes back.

  • Eagles To Ride Hot Hand Between Kenneth Gainwell, D'Andre Swift

    Headshot for D'Andre Swift

The Philadelphia Eagles are expected to "ride the hot hand" at running back in Week 3, per NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. Although D'Andre Swift amassed 175 scrimmage yards in a big Week 2 outing versus Minnesota, the return of Kenneth Gainwell (rib) adds an extra element to Philadelphia's backfield. It's worth noting that the Eagles are facing a Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense that allowed just 67 total rushing yards to Khalil Herbert and Roschon Johnson last Sunday. Swift should be viewed as a low-end fantasy RB2 while Gainwell is a fine FLEX play.

  • Kenneth Gainwell Off The Week 3 Injury Report

    Headshot for Kenneth Gainwell

Philadelphia Eagles running back Kenneth Gainwell (ribs) is off the injury report and will play in Week 3 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The former Memphis star missed last week's matchup against the Minnesota Vikings after suffering a rib injury in Week 1. Gainwell played well on opening weekend against the New England Patriots, totaling 14 rushing attempts for 54 yards. The third-year running back also caught all four targets for 20 receiving yards in the win. Last week, D'Andre Swift filled in for Gainwell, totaling 28 rushing attempts for 175 yards and a touchdown against the Vikings. Fantasy players should expect both running backs to get work Monday night.

  • D'Andre Swift Explodes For 181 Total Yards Thursday Night

    Headshot for D'Andre Swift

Philadelphia Eagles running back D'Andre Swift took 28 carries for 175 yards and a touchdown, adding three receptions for an additional six yards, during the team's 34-28 victory against the Minnesota Vikings. After logging just one carry last week behind Kenneth Gainwell (ribs), the former Detroit Lion made the most of his opportunity and absolutely demolished the Minnesota defense. There is no word on Gainwell's status for their Week 3 matchup with Tampa Bay, but with the extra days of rest coming up, it is safe to assume he will be ready to go. This performance will make it challenging for fantasy managers to determine which to start, but Swift made a statement Thursday night and has earned more carries on a per-game basis as a result. Both backs should be considered flex options, at the very least, against the Buccaneers in Week 3.

  • D'Andre Swift - Week 2 Outlook for Fantasy Football

    Headshot for D'Andre Swift

Philadelphia Eagles running back D'Andre Swift will take on the Minnesota Vikings in the team's home opener Thursday night. Projected by many to be the lead back for Philadelphia prior to last Sunday, the 24-year-old accounted for just one carry and gained three yards. It was a major disappointment for those who stuck him in their starting lineup. However, Kenneth Gainwell (ribs), who took the majority of carries against New England, has been ruled out against Minnesota. Rashaad Penny was a healthy scratch in Week 1, so in theory, Swift should be next in line to take over as the lead back. Head coach Nick Sirianni stated Wednesday, when talking about Swift's usage, that he would "Be in that role sometimes where he carries the load for the game, and he'll be in the role sometimes like he was in last game." It is as confusing a statement as you could get when trying to navigate when to start or sit the young back, but overall, this would be the week to flex him since Gainwell is out. Consider Swift a boom-or-bust flex option in Week 2.

  • Eagles to be 'mindful' of getting D'Andre Swift touches

    Headshot for D'Andre Swift

Philadelphia Eagles running back D'Andre Swift had just two touches in his team debut against the New England Patriots in Week 1. Despite running back Rashaad Penny being a healthy scratch, Swift was non-existent on offense. He saw just 29% of the team snaps and had one carry for three yards while also catching one pass. On Tuesday, Eagles offensive coordinator Brian Johnson spoke about the running back's small usage and said, "Fortunately for us, we have some excellent skill position players it's up to us to just be mindful of that." With Kenneth Gainwell (ribs) not practicing yet this week and the short turnaround for Thursday's game, Swift could see more opportunities on offense against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 2.

  • D'Andre Swift Gains Just Three Yards In Season Opener

    Headshot for D'Andre Swift

Philadelphia Eagles running back D'Andre Swift took his lone carry for three yards and caught one of his two targets for no gain during the team's 25-20 victory over the New England Patriots. It is a nightmare outcome for managers who threw the former Detroit Lion into their starting lineups, especially after Rashaad Penny was made a healthy scratch before kickoff. Kenneth Gainwell handled the grand majority of carries out of the backfield and seems to be the clear leader of the Eagles running back corps moving forward. Philadelphia could elect to rotate their backs more often as the season progresses, but it will be tough to trust the 24-year-old until he has a more established role. It would be wise to leave him on the bench this Thursday in the Eagles' upcoming home opener against the Minnesota Vikings.

  • D'Andre Swift Has RB2 Upside Against Patriots

    Headshot for D'Andre Swift

Philadelphia Eagles running back D'Andre Swift will make his regular-season debut on the road against the New England Patriots this Sunday. The former Detroit Lion is in line to start the matchup for Philadelphia as the lead back but will share snaps with Rashaad Penny and potentially Kenneth Gainwell. Swift is the top fantasy option of the three, but this backfield could be in a heavy rotation throughout the regular season. Sunday's matchup against New England is a solid one for pass-catching backs. The Patriots gave up the second-fewest fantasy points per game to running backs last season. However, they gave up an average of five receptions and 38.5 receiving yards per game to opposing backfields. Penny could struggle for fantasy managers unless he finds the end zone, but Swift should have a solid scoring floor with the chance to leap into the top 20 by the end of the week if he scores. The 24-year-old should be considered a low-end RB2 in Week 1.

  • Eagles Want D'Andre Swift To Be Their Backfield Leader?

    Headshot for D'Andre Swift

The Athletic's Bo Wulf writes that the odds are that the Philadelphia Eagles want running back D'Andre Swift to end up being the lead man in the backfield given their investment in him, his explosiveness and the need for a pass-catching back to emerge. But Swift has had issues grabbing ahold of the No. 1 job in the past and has battled injuries. Kenneth Gainwell is the most reliable option and took most of the first-team snaps during training camp. Rashaad Penny, meanwhile, has been the most efficient RB in the NFL the last two seasons when he's been healthy, but he's an extreme injury risk. Whoever seizes the lead-back role in the most RB-friendly offense in the league will have a huge opportunity in 2023. The 24-year-old Swift seems like the best fantasy bet right now, but this could be a frustrating three-headed monster committee situation.

  • Eagles List Four Starting RBs On Depth Chart, Including D'Andre Swift

    Headshot for D'Andre Swift

The Philadelphia Eagles released an unofficial depth chart that listed Kenneth Gainwell, Rashaad Penny, Boston Scott, and D'Andre Swift as co-starters ahead of Sunday's Week 1 matchup against the New England Patriots. It's worth noting that the Eagles listed the running backs in alphabetical order by last name, hence Gainwell being placed first. This also should come as no surprise considering the uncertainty around the Eagles' backfield this offseason. It makes the most sense for Swift to operate as the primary pass-catching option/home run hitter while Penny takes early downs and goal-line work, which gives Gainwell the change-of-pace and two-minute drill role. We should get more clarity on the workload split over the first month of the season but all three-backs figure to get meaningful touches in what should be one of the NFL's premier offenses once again. It could be a headache for fantasy managers in the early going but these situations tend to work themselves out.

  • Kennedy Brooks Leads Eagles In Carries Thursday Night

    Headshot for Kennedy Brooks

Philadelphia Eagles running back Kennedy Brooks took seven carries for 26 yards and caught his lone target for a four-yard gain during the team's 18-18 preseason tie with the Cleveland Browns. Brooks did not see the field until the second half but ended up leading the team in total carries by the end of the night. The 24-year-old floated around the Eagles practice squad last season but has little to no chance of making the final 53-man roster, especially after a less-than-stellar showing against the Cleveland third-string defense. With the Eagles running back room packed by the likes of Rashaad Penny, D'Andre Swift, Kenneth Gainwell, Trey Sermon, and Boston Scott, Brooks will be lucky to land on the Philadelphia practice squad by the time the regular season kicks off. He should see some run during the Eagles' final preseason game next Thursday.

  • Eagles Focused On Getting D'Andre Swift The Ball In Space

    Headshot for D'Andre Swift

Getting the ball to running back D'Andre Swift in space has been an early focal point in training camp this summer for the Philadelphia Eagles offense. The Athletic's Bo Wulf writes that Swift brings a needed element to an already high-powered offense in 2023. Despite their success in 2022, the Eagles mostly ignored RBs as pass-catchers out of the backfield and finished last in the NFL in RB targets and 31st in EPA per play when they targeted the RB. Swift's speed has been on display in camp, but it's a crowded backfield with Kenneth Gainwell, Rashaad Penny and Boston Scott also involved. The 24-year-old Swift looks like Philly's No. 1 backfield option, but with so many mouths to feed in this offense, that might not translate that well in fantasy terms. Regardless, these positive reports on Swift will raise his PPR stock as an RB2/3.

  • D'Andre Swift Used Primarily In Passing Game

    Headshot for D'Andre Swift

Philadelphia Eagles running back D'Andre Swift has reportedly been lining up all over the field early in camp. ESPN's Tim McManus has confirmed that Swift is primarily being used in the passing game right now. That's interesting as Rashaad Penny as been getting the early downs in the running game, while Swift focuses in the passing game. The Eagles did struggle to pass the ball to their backs last season, but fantasy managers shouldn't be concerned. The expectation is that both backs are going to get significant looks in the Eagles offense. Swift might end up as a PPR beast if he really does get most of the looks in the passing game.

  • D'Andre Swift Used All Over The Field On First Day Of Camp

    Headshot for D'Andre Swift

Philadelphia Eagles running back D'Andre Swift was reportedly deployed all over the offense during the team's first day of camp. He lined up out wide, motioned into the slot, and saw work in the backfield -- primarily as a receiver. Rashaad Penny was given the first carry of practice, but it looks like Swift will be the primary receiving back in 2023. This comes as no surprise given Swift's previous usage in Detroit. The former second-round pick totaled 1,198 receiving yards and seven scored on 156 receptions during his three-year stint with the Lions. While the Eagles will implement a running back-by-committee approach, Swift has plenty of upside in PPR leagues as an explosive receiver.
