Tua Tagovailoa An Upside QB1 Against Bills

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is off to a scintillating start this year, sitting first in yards per attempt (10.1) and passer rating (121.9), and second in passing yards (1,024) and touchdowns (eight) over three games. The Buffalo Bills, who are on tap for Tagovailoa in Week 4, have shut down opposing QBs for the fewest fantasy points per game (5.43), but they haven't squared off with an offense of Miami's caliber yet. The 25-year-old has mostly struggled in five career starts against the Bills, though, throwing for a 58.4% completion rate with four touchdowns to four interceptions for a subpar 76.4 passer rating. Look for the Dolphins to scheme the ball out of Tagovailoa's hands quickly against a Buffalo pass rush that just feasted on Sam Howell for nine sacks last Sunday. Tagovailoa looks like a great bet for 250 yards and multiple scores as a top-10 option with Jaylen Waddle back from a concussion in a game that figures to see plenty of points.

Tua Tagovailoa Tosses Four Touchdowns

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was slinging the ball all over the field against the Broncos defense in a historic blowout. The Alabama product finished the game with 309 yards and four touchdowns while completing 23 of his 26 throws. He was nearly perfect while the Broncos failed to get to him even once. According to PFF, Tagovailoa has a rating of 137.7 while in a clean pocket so far this season and he has an overall grade of 90.9. Week 4 may not present as clean of a pocket, however, as they travel to Buffalo.

Tua Tagovailoa Looking To Return To QB1 Territory

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa had an incredible Week 1 and then came back down to Earth against a tough Patriots defense in Week 2. The good thing is that he goes up against the Denver Broncos in Week 3 which is ranked in the lower third of the league in terms of points allowed. When it comes to the passing game, they've given up 233 yards per game and only have one takeaway to their name after two weeks. Even if Jaylen Waddle (concussion) doesn't play, Tagovailoa will have enough firepower to get back to QB1 range.

Tua Tagovailoa, Dolphins offense off to scorching start

The quarterback is an MVP favorite and a leader in major passing categories.
Sep 19 · ESPN Dolphins Tua TagovailoaTua Tagovailoa Held In Check In Week 2

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa came back down to Earth against the Patriots after a red-hot Week 1. The Alabama product finished the game with 249 yards, one touchdown, and one interception while completing 21 of his 30 throws. He also added three yards on four carries. The Patriots defense did a good job of neutralizing the deep ball so Tagovailoa and company had to find a way to find without their biggest weapon. On top of that, Jaylen Waddle (concussion) left the game in the later minutes, but Tagovailoa did just enough to get the job done. Fantasy-wise, he didn't help managers too much as he's the QB25 before the Monday night games kickoff. He should bounce back a bit in Week 3 against a Broncos defense that just gave up 35 points and nearly 400 yards to the Commanders.

Tua Tagovailoa - Week 2 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has had good fortune against the division rival New England Patriots. He's undefeated through four contests against Bill Belichick and company, and he's riding high from a 466-yard performance in Week 1 that netted him three passing touchdowns as well. The only factor going against Tagovailoa is the pass-blocking disadvantage. The Patriots have an above-average pass-rush against a weaker offensive line for the Dolphins which could result in hurried throws. Overall, he still has top-12 upside due to his talented receivers but remains a mid-to-low-end QB1.

Tua Tagovailoa Drops 466 Passing Yards In Week 1 Victory

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was dominant on Sunday, completing 28 of 45 passes for a whopping 466 yards and three touchdowns. He also threw an interception and lost a fumble on a botched snap. Tagovailoa helped lead the Dolphins to victory, all while supporting a historic outing from Tyreek Hill (11 catches, 215 yards, two touchdowns). The left-handed quarterback benefitted from the shootout style of Sunday's matchup, which led to countless big plays down the field. Tagovailoa remains a mid-to-low QB1 ahead of Week 2 versus the Patriots.

Offseason In Review: Miami Dolphins

Following a busy offseason in 2022, the Dolphins didn’t take nearly as many swings in 2023. It’s hard to blame them. The front office didn’t have to make up for any mistakes from last spring, as the team’s major acquisitions (receiver Tyreek Hill and offensive tackle Terron Armstead) both proved to be worth the investment. […]

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa should be a top-12 fantasy option in Week 1. He's taking on a Los Angeles Chargers secondary that produced a 74.6 PFF grade last season and ranks 14th in the NFL (per PFF) heading into 2023. The unit isn't bad, but it's certainly not strong enough to consider sitting Tagovailoa based on matchup. Furthermore, the left-handed signal-caller benefits from a supporting cast that includes Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, two receivers who have shown they can co-exist and elevate their quarterback's game. There's plenty of reason to be excited about Tagovailoa in Week 1.

Dolphins Name Mike White Backup QB; DeShon Elliott To Start At S

When Mike White was signed to a two-year deal including $4.5MM in guaranteed money, it seemed inevitable he would start the season as the Dolphins’ backup quarterback. After a noteworthy training camp competition, the veteran has indeed landed the QB2 gig. Head coach Mike McDaniel indicated (via Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald) that White won out the backup […]

Miami Dolphins left tackle Terron Armstead (leg) missed the team's first regular season practice of the year on Monday. Despite missing practice, Armstead is progressing nicely and could be ready to play in Week 1 of the 2023 regular season against the Los Angeles Chargers this Sunday. If the 32-year-old veteran is unable to gain clearance for this weekend, Kendall Lamm would start on the left side of Miami's offensive line. Armstead has been a Pro Bowler in four of the last five seasons, so not having him on the field would be a significant downgrade for quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and the rest of the offense.

Dolphins Tabling Extension Talks With Tua Tagovailoa, Christian Wilkins

Two notable members of the Dolphins won’t be signing extensions with the organization during the 2023 campaign. Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa led two drives on Saturday, completing four of six passes for 67 yards. His first series resulted in a punt while the second concluded with a field goal. Tagovailoa hasn't looked great this season, but he's received limited action with a smorgasbord of weapons around him. Once Week 1 arrives and he takes the field with the rest of the starters, he should be a low-end fantasy QB1. His impressive skills also bode well for the fantasy values of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.

Tua Tagovailoa To Play In Preseason Finale

Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel told reporters on Thursday that the plan is to play quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and the starters "more than a series but less than a half" in the preseason finale against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday. Tagovailoa went 5-for-7 for 61 yards, no touchdowns and an interception in his preseason debut last weekend, but the main takeaway is that he stayed healthy. He led the team to a touchdown in his two drives . The 25-year-old had a career year in 2022 before concussion issues got the best of him, so as long as he can stay on the field in 2023, he should be in the QB1 conversation with one of the best receiving duos in the league in Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.

Despite early interception, Tua's return 'awesome'

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa played two drives during Saturday's preseason game against the Houston Texans. His first series resulted in an interception while his second possession culminated in a Raheem Mostert rushing touchdown. Tagovailoa finished the day 5-for-7 passing with 61 yards, zero touchdowns, and the interception. Though he was picked off and failed to record a passing touchdown, it was still a solid day for the left-hander as he tallied a 71.4 percent completion rate and led a scoring drive. He heads into the 2023 campaign as a fringe top-12 fantasy quarterback.

Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill To Play Against Texans

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and wide receiver Tyreek Hill are expected to play alongside many of the Dolphins' healthy starters on Saturday against the Houston Texans. The two teams had joint practices this week and will wrap things up with a preseason game. This will be Tagovailoa's first action since missing the team's final two regular season games and the playoff contest against the Buffalo Bills last season with a concussion. Hopefully, he can stay healthy this season. Tagovailoa, Hill, and Jaylen Waddle (abdomen) all have huge fantasy upside once again in 2023.

Tua Tagovailoa Learned How To Fall This Offseason

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa considered retiring during the offseason. However, that didn't happen. Instead, the signal-caller opted to set his sights on staying healthy. To accomplish this, Tagovailoa began training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, a martial art where falling as safely as possible is critical. During his training, he focused on being taken down from different angles, which he believes will help him avoid getting injured moving ahead. The 25-year-old had his best season in 2022-23, throwing for 3,548 yards, 25 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. He also completed nearly 65% of his attempts. Unfortunately, he was limited to 13 games because of multiple concussions. Nevertheless, with Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle at Tagovailoa's disposal, there's no denying he could be a potent fantasy quarterback. But he needs to remain off the injury report before he earns the trust of fantasy managers.

Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill Not Expected To Play Friday Night

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and Tyreek Hill are among the team's starters that aren't expected to play in Friday night's preseason opener against the Atlanta Falcons. Receiver Jaylen Waddle and running backs Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson Jr. are also notable starters that won't be in there. More of Miami's starters could get some work in the second preseason game on Aug. 19 against the Houston Texans. Despite being injury-prone early in his career, Tagovailoa showed enough when he was healthy in 2022 to be on the fantasy map as a low-end QB1 this year. Hill, meanwhile, is a target hog and one of the most explosive playmakers in the NFL. He's in play as a top-five wideout that will come off the board in the first round of fantasy drafts.

Aug 5 · ESPN Dolphins Tua TagovailoaTerron Armstead Had Cleanup Procedure On His Knee

Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said that left tackle Terron Armstead (knee) had a knee cleanup surgery this offseason, which is what landed him on the Physically Unable to Perform list to begin training camp. Offensive lineman Isaiah Wynn (undisclosed) suffered an undisclosed injury working out on his own this offseason. Of the four players on the PUP, McDaniel expects Armstead and Wynn to be closest to a return. The 32-year-old Armstead is rarely fully healthy, so the Dolphins will likely take it easy on him during camp this summer that he's as healthy as he can be for the start of the regular season. When he's on the field, Armstead is an excellent pass-blocker for quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

Tua Tagovailoa's Ball Placement Has Been Special

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa continues to impress his teammates after putting up 3,548 passing yards and 25 touchdowns in only 13 games last year. "His ball placement," wide receiver Jaylen Waddle said. "I think everybody sees it, knowing exactly where to put the ball so his receivers can not just catch it, but catch it and run with it. That's what makes Tua, Tua." Tagovailoa led the NFL last year in yards per attempt (8.9), yards per completion (13.7) and passer rating (105.5). Waddle was fifth among all receivers with 537 yards after the catch, while Tyreek Hill was seventh with 514. Tagovailoa was also great with his deep-ball placement, so if he can just stay on the field in 2023, he has a real chance to be a weekly QB1 in fantasy lineups.
