Fantasy Advice
Pollard was tough to rank weekly last season due to his relatively low touches for a top RB. He played only 49% of snaps on the season, but 5.2 a carry plus 12 TD pushed him to RB9 in PPG. Zeke was RB23 PPG by the way, and is not in the building as of writing this. Can Pollard handle a bigger workload? It looks like he is going to have to given the Cowboys depth chart. Have some faith in Pollard to live up to these expectations, but don't reach for him.

Tony Pollard An RB1 Option Despite A Tough Matchup In Week 4

Dallas Cowboys running back Tony Pollard has been the overall fantasy RB4 so far this season and should have another productive game in Week 4 despite a tough matchup against the New England Patriots. New England has been excellent at stopping the running game this season, but Pollard usually has the touches and the talent to make it through any defense. His upside is a little capped this week, but he retains a solid floor and is an easy RB1 despite the difficult matchup.

Tony Pollard Has Another 100-Yard Game In Week 3

Dallas Cowboys running back Tony Pollard was heavily involved once again in a Week 3 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Pollard ran the ball 23 times, gaining 122 yards. He was unable to find the end zone, but he did break off a long run of 31 yards. Pollard wasn't a factor in the passing game, as he turned three targets into three catches for a total of negative one yard. While fantasy managers would have loved for Pollard to find the end zone, a 100-yard game usually doesn't hurt. He'll be an RB1 option once again in Week 4 when the Cowboys take on the New England Patriots.

Tony Pollard A Solid Choice Despite A Tough Matchup In Week 3

Dallas Cowboys running back Tony Pollard is a strong fantasy option in Week 3 despite a tough matchup against the Arizona Cardinals. Pollard has been the overall RB6 through the first two weeks of the season, but he hasn't done much in terms of breaking tackles (43rd out of 48) or yards after contact (32nd). Still, the volume of his workload and the general effectiveness of the Cowboys offense makes him a good bet to put up RB1 numbers even though the Cardinals defense has been strong against the run this year.

Dallas Cowboys running back Tony Pollard was solid but inefficient in a Week 2 win over the New York Jets. Pollard ran the ball 25 times, gaining 72 scoreless yards. He also made seven catches for another 37 yards. His eight targets were second on the team and of course his 25 carries were the most. Being used as a true feature back despite the Cowboys saying he wouldn't be, Pollard should have many better weeks than this one, which wasn't even bad. He'll be an easy RB1 option in Week 3 against the Arizona Cardinals.

Tony Pollard - Week 2 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Dallas Cowboys running back Tony Pollard is set for another strong performance in Week 2 against the New York Jets. Pollard got off to a great start in Week 1, scoring twice in the 40-0 annihilation of the Giants. While the Jets defense should pose more of a challenge, Pollard will still see plenty of carries and the powerful Cowboys defense should give their offense plenty of short fields and scoring opportunities. Pollard is a weekly top-five fantasy running back.

Tony Pollard Scores Twice In A Week 1 Rout

Dallas Cowboys running back Tony Pollard scored two touchdowns in a 40-0 Week 1 rout of the New York Giants. Pollard ran the ball 14 times, gaining 70 yards and scoring short touchdowns from one and two yards out. The Cowboys were in control throughout this game, so Pollard ceded 15 carries to other running backs. In closer games, he figures to be more of the focal point of the running game, which could lead to even bigger games. Still, fantasy managers will happily take two touchdowns from the Cowboys new starter.

Tony Pollard Set For A Big Week 1

Dallas Cowboys running back Tony Pollard is set for a big performance in a Week 1 game against the New York Giants on Sunday Night Football. Pollard enters the year as the undisputed starter in the Cowboys backfield and gets to start his season off against a Giants defense that was 22nd in the league against opposing running backs. While Pollard is coming off a leg injury suffered in January, all reports seem to state that he's back to full health. He's a solid runner and excels in the passing game. Pollard should be an easy RB1 most weeks this season.

Tony Pollard Expected To See A Career-High In Touches

The big question this year is will the Dallas Cowboys keep running back Tony Pollard's usage the same as it's been in previous years in an effort to maintain his production, or will they put more on his plate with Ezekiel Elliott gone? The Athletic's Saad Yousuf believes the end result will be something in the middle, which should equate to a new career-high in touches for Pollard, but not as many as Elliott saw when he was at the height of his career in Dallas. Since the Cowboys took Pollard in the fourth round in 2019, his usage has revolved around supplementing Elliott. The 26-year-old is also coming off a significant ankle injury, but he appears to be fully and should be Dallas' unquestioned lead back in 2023, making him a midrange RB1 in fantasy.

Cowboys To Add A Running Back Eventually?

The Dallas Cowboys weren't in on running backs Dalvin Cook or Jonathan Taylor at the contracts they were seeking, but ESPN's Dan Graziano suggests the Cowboys could add another RB at some point. Dallas wasn't even on of the team's that worked out free-agent Kareem Hunt. If they add a name to the RB room, it will be at a significant discount. Rico Dowdle and undersized rookie Deuce Vaughn are the primary backups to Tony Pollard, whose workload the team wants to manage to keep him effective. Pollard's 193 carries ranked 23rd in the league last year while he shared work with Ezekiel Elliott, and he hasn't had more than 200 carries in any collegiate or pro season. Graziano suggests a name like Leonard Fournette would make the most sense.

The Dallas Cowboys and All-Pro offensive guard Zack Martin reached an agreement on a restructured deal on Monday that will allow Martin to end his holdout in training camp and return to the team. Martin will now make $18 million in each of the next two seasons as one of the best guards in the league. The 32-year-old veteran former 16th overall pick in 2014 out of Notre Dame has made the Pro Bowl in eight of his nine NFL seasons and has also been an All-Pro six times for the Cowboys. Martin's return at camp is excellent news for quarterback Dak Prescott, running back Tony Pollard and the entire Cowboys offense heading into the 2023 regular season in early September.

Mike McCarthy Thinks Tony Pollard Is Fully Healed

Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy thinks running back Tony Pollard (ankle) is fully healed and back to his explosive self. "He has put his foot in the ground on a number of runs," McCarthy said. "I definitely think he's back." Pollard suffered an ankle injury that required offseason surgery in the NFC Divisional loss to the San Francisco 49ers, so this is a significant positive update. The 25-year-old runner posted nearly 1,400 yards from scrimmage and 12 total touchdowns last year while splitting plenty of touches with Ezekiel Elliott. With Elliott gone, the Memphis product has top-three fantasy running back upside in all formats.

Mike McCarthy Confident In RBs At Goal Line

Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said he has confidence in the team's running backs at the goal line. Dallas moved on from longtime starter Ezekiel Elliott this offseason, so there is a void in the short-yardage back role. Despite Elliott's regression as a runner, he still posted 12 rushing scores in the red zone in 2022. The team's official website lists Tony Pollard at 209 pounds, Malik Davis at 202 pounds, Rico Dowdle at 215 pounds, and Deuce Vaughn at 176 pounds. Needless to say, it's not a big stable of running backs, but McCarthy doesn't seem concerned. "You have phone booth runs, and I like Tony (Pollard) in a phone booth. He's a crease runner." Find the crease and accelerate," McCarthy said. "Tony has that run instinct. I think Malik (Davis) and Rico (Dowdle) do, too" It will be interesting to see how much of the short-yardage work Pollard will handle compared to his counterparts.

Tony Pollard Ready To Take On Larger Workload

Dallas Cowboys running back Tony Pollard has backed up Ezekiel Elliot since entering the NFL in 2019, but the 26-year-old running back is now in line to be the primary back in one of the league's top offenses. Pollard suffered an ankle injury in the NFC Divisional Round loss to the San Francisco 49ers last season and had offseason surgery, but he's already being eased into training camp and should be more than ready to go when Week 1 rolls around. Pollard says he's ready for the challenge of a larger workload. "Whatever they throw at me, I can handle it. I'm ready to go," Pollard said. "Whatever they throw at me I'm gonna make the most of it and we'll see how that goes." Pollard broke out last season, compiling 1,378 yards and 12 touchdowns from scrimmage -- good for an RB7 finish in half-PPR formats. In 2023, he has overall RB1 upside if he can stay healthy through a beefed-up touch-share.

Tony Pollard To Be Eased Into Camp

Dallas Cowboys running back Tony Pollard (ankle) said that the plan is for him to ease back into practicing at the start of training camp. "I'm feeling pretty good right now, pretty much at 100 percent. At this point, it's just on me and the trainers, communicating, being smart, not rushing anything, not getting out there and going full speed too early. Just easing back into it," Pollard said. It comes as no surprise after the 26-year-old had surgery to fix a broken fibula and high-ankle sprain in January. As long as there are no setbacks for Pollard, he's expected to be ready to go for Week 1 of the regular season. He should have an even bigger role in Dallas' offense this year as the unquestioned lead back, too, making him a no-doubt top-10 RB1 in fantasy drafts.

Tony Pollard Fully Cleared To Practice

Dallas Cowboys running back Tony Pollard (ankle) has been fully cleared to practice for the start of training camp this week. In another positive development, offensive tackle Terence Steele (knee) won't open up on the Physically Unable to Perform list. Pollard will play on the $10.1 million one-year franchise tag in 2023 after breaking his fibula and suffering a high-ankle sprain at the end of last year. It's great news that the 26-year-old will be active from the start of training camp, and he'll open Week 1 of the regular season as the team's unquestioned lead back with Ezekiel Elliott now out of the picture. If Pollard is back to his pre-injury form of 2022 this year, he'll be a no-doubt top-10 RB1 for fantasy managers.

Zack Martin Fails To Report To Start Of Training Camp

Dallas Cowboys guard Zack Martin did not report to the start of Dallas Cowboys training camp Tuesday. The elite offensive lineman has been unhappy with the organization's lack of willingness to give him a raise, so this could be an extended holdout worth monitoring. Martin is an eight-time Pro Bowler and six-time All-Pro selection but has an average salary that ranks ninth among all offensive guards ($14 million.) In all likelihood, Martin is looking to get closer to what Atlanta Falcons guard Chris Lindstrom ($20.5 million) and Indianapolis Colts guard Quenton Nelson ($20 million) are making on a per-season basis. Martin's absence would leave a major hole in an aging Cowboys offensive line unit that could negatively impact Dak Prescott and Tony Pollard.

Jul 17 · Pro Football Rumors Cowboys Tony PollardTony Pollard Expected To Play On Franchise Tag

Dallas Cowboys running back Tony Pollard is reportedly willing to play the 2023 NFL season on the franchise tag signed back in March, so there will be no drama or risk of a holdout leading up to Week 1. Pollard broke out last season with an expanded role, rushing for 1,007 yards and nine touchdowns on 193 carries and catching 39 passes for 371 yards and three receiving scores. Despite sharing time with Ezekiel Elliott for much of the 2022 campaign, Pollard posted an RB8 overall finish in PPR formats. The 26-year-old ball carrier will earn $10.1 million this season with the tag and will operate as the lead back for the high-powered Cowboys' offense. There is speculation that Elliott could sign back with the team on a cheap deal, but Pollard should see career highs in all statistical categories -- assuming he stays healthy. He is being priced around the RB7 spot in PPR leagues, but his ceiling is a top-three finish at the position in 2023.

Tony Pollard Not Expected To Agree On Long Term Deal

Dallas Cowboys running back Tony Pollard is not expected to reach a long term deal with the organization ahead of Monday's franchise tag deadline. The 26-year-old is set to make $10.1 million for the upcoming season on the franchise tag. Pollard is expected to be the future at running back in Dallas with the team cutting ties with Ezekiel Elliott this offseason. That means, Pollard will be the primary back heading into next season. That should result in him being a top-10 fantasy running back. However, he's coming off broken fibula in his left leg, so we'll see how he bounces back in training camp. The two sides are expected to negotiate a long term deal down the road.
