Parris Campbell Searching For A Productive Performance

When the New York Giants brought in wide receiver Parris Campbell this past offseason, there were hopes that he would emerge from a group of middling wideouts. Thus far in 2023, he's caught half of his ten targets for only 23 yards. His reception total mixes right in with the totals from fellow receivers Darius Slayton and Isaiah Hodgins. His snap shares could slip a little bit if second-year slot receiver Wan'Dale Robinson (knee) returns from an ACL tear on Thursday night. Keep Campbell on the waiver wire in a tough matchup against the San Francisco 49ers.

Parris Campbell - Week 2 Outlook for Fantasy Football

New York Giants wide receiver Parris Campbell tied with Darius Slayton for the team lead in snap percentage at the position in Week 1. However, he secured just one catch for two yards. Campbell wasn't alone in his lack of production. The entire offense struggled against Dallas. Nevertheless, it shows the coaching staff has plans for Campbell to have a major role in this offense. The slot receiver is still not worth a spot on fantasy football rosters in standard-sized redraft leagues until he receives consistent targets.

Parris Campbell Secures Just One Catch In Week 1

New York Giants wide receiver Parris Campbell logged just one catch for two yards in the team's Week 1 blowout loss to the Dallas Cowboys. The slot receiver was targeted four times in the contest. Just like the rest of the Giants wide receivers, Campbell struggled to connect with quarterback Daniel Jones who was constantly facing pressure from the Cowboys' defense. Campbell has been receiving buzz as one of the top receiving options for Big Blue and could bounce back against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 2.

Parris Campbell Could Lead Giants Wide Receivers In Targets

New York Giants wide receiver Parris Campbell is coming off of his first healthy season of his four-year NFL career and he turned in some productive performances for the Indianapolis Colts. New York brought in the former second-round pick to occupy the slot wide receiver role while Wan'Dale Robinson recovers from an ACL tear. If he stays healthy though, this may be Campbell's job to keep. In the Giants' second preseason game, when Daniel Jones was in the game, Campbell received the most targets outside of tight end Darren Waller. Jones has never been a quarterback who looks to throw the ball down the field often. His 6.4 intended air yards per attempt ranked second-to-last among qualified quarterbacks in 2022. Campbell could get plenty of looks in the passing game but is still tough to trust against a stingy Dallas defense.

Parris Campbell Snags A Pair Of Targets With First-Team Offense

New York Giants wide receiver Parris Campbell caught three passes for 23 yards in the team's 21-19 preseason win against Carolina on Friday night. Number zero reeled in two of Daniel Jones' nine attempts on the team's opening drive. His first catch went for 13 yards when Darren Waller took a breather. His second came in the red zone as the Giants threatened to score. He, alongside other projected starter Isaiah Hodgins, played a couple of drives with backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor. The ex-Colt is the favorite to secure the starting slot wide receiver role for the G-Men in 2023 and is worth a late look in fantasy drafts.

Parris Campbell Poised For Big Role As Slot Receiver

If he can stay healthy, New York Giants wide receiver Parris Campbell seems poised to earn plenty of snaps and targets as the team's starting slot receiver this year, according to The Athletic's Charlotte Carroll. Former slot receiver Richie James had a share of the team lead with 57 catches in 2022. Campbell, a former second-rounder, has played in just 32 games (24 starts) in his four NFL seasons with the Indianapolis Colts, so staying healthy is a big if for him. But his strong season last year (63 catches, 623 yards, three TDs) gives him optimism in his first year in the Big Apple. The G-Men have more options for the slot this year, including impressive rookie Jalin Hyatt, so Campbell will probably have to earn an early season waiver-wire pickup in standard 12-team leagues.

Giants Considering Starting Role For WR Jalin Hyatt; Sterling Shepard On Roster Bubble?

When the Giants look to repeat their success from last season in 2023, all eyes will understandably be on quarterback Daniel Jones given his sizeable extension signed in March. The team’s new-look receiving corps will be a key determining factor in their offensive improvement, though, meaning training camp developments amongst their pass-catchers are worth watching closely. New York Giants wide receiver Parris Campbell (knee) is back at training camp practice on Friday after a rest day on Thursday, according to head coach Brian Daboll. Campbell is dealing with knee tendinitis, but obviously it's not a very serious issue at training camp. Before the injury, the 26-year-old had been one of the most targeted pass-catchers for the Giants, along with new tight end Darren Waller. If he's healthy when the regular season begins -- he's had his share of injuries in his career -- Campbell figures to have a starting role in the team's three-receiver sets. There are suddenly plenty of mouths to feed in New York's offense, though, so Campbell is going to have to prove it to most fantasy managers before they consider snatching him up off the waiver wire early in the 2023 season.

Parris Campbell Dealing With Knee Tendinitis

New York Giants wide receiver Parris Campbell (knee) had a maintenance day at training camp practice on Thursday while dealing with new knee tendinitis. The team is trying to get ahead of the injury this summer, but Campbell said he'll be back on Friday. Campbell has a nice opportunity in his first year with the G-Men, but he also has a lengthy injury history from his time with the Indianapolis Colts. The 26-year-old could end up being one of the team's top targets in 2023 alongside tight end Darren Waller if he's able to stay on the field. His current injury doesn't appear to be anything more than day-to-day, but fantasy managers are going to be cautious. Campbell will probably have to prove he's relevant in New York before fantasy managers take notice on the waiver wire. The Giants receiver room is actually pretty deep this year, too.

Offseason In Review: New York Giants

The Joe Schoen regime’s first offseason did not feature splash moves, with cap issues limiting the GM last year. After a surprise voyage to the NFC’s divisional round, the Giants became far more active this year in making moves that will shape their long-term future. For the most part, the team’s core players are now […]

Wan’Dale Robinson figures to play a signficant role in the Giants’ passing game in 2023, but doubts remain with respect to his availability come September. The former second-round wideout continues to rehab the ACL tear which ended his rookie campaign. That injury occurred in November, limiting the 22-year-old to just six games played. Over that span, […]
